Traversing the Unknown

Wyn grimaced, having reached forward to stabilize Mirror, resulting in her own head hitting a bar and making her vision swim for a moment. Gods, that had hurt. She hardly noted the throbbing at the moment, though, her mind a bit hazy from the lack of food - she and Mirror ate as little of that concoction as they could - sleep and the darkness gaining more and more control of her mind. She could feel the dark tendrils around her heart now, the shadow just starting to touch the edges of her spirit. Her own power was exhausted, trying to keep the spell at bay and Wyn was sure if she was given just a few more days of this, she'd crumble.

Well...maybe. She felt like she would.

But for Mirror's sake, she might not.

Wyn hoped she wouldn't have to find out as she forced her mind to focus on what was going on right now. The vampire and the Acain witch were speaking again and the light elf frowned deeply at their words, the puzzle-pieces coming together. She gripped the bars in one hand and rested her forehead against it, offering Mirror a faint smile as her dulled green eyes met the child's silver in her dirty face. Wyn touched her fingers to her daughter's face and spoke softly.

"You be ready to run as soon as papa tells you to, all right?" She wasn't going to let Mirror give up hope. Wyn hadn't, though, the darkness wanted her to and she would teach Mirror, show her to have faith in Danny. He would always come for them. Always. And nothing was going to stop him.

"Run?" Mirror looked around the cage as if stating the obvious, "How am I suppose to do that momma?" keeping her voice light and private for her mother's ears alone the small child scooted forward to put her hands onto Wyn's knees.

"But what about the light box? If they open it...." Mirror didn't want to think about it, she wanted to keep hopeful but she wasn't dumb enough to know that if these monsters, these demonic beasts in flesh wanted the piece inside the box it meant nothing if she ran. She'd be dead no matter what. And it scared her.

She had just gotten back the pieces of her being she had been missing, and now... now she could loose them in a new way. "I'm scared." she admitted openly.

Wyn's smile became a bit more genuine at the innocent questions, but she had to sigh and rest her head back on the bars at Mirror's admission, nodding slowly. "Me too, baby." she whispered back, completely honest, but her expression showed a fierce determination as she looked back to her daughter, reaching out to take the small hand in her own. "It's very scary, but you must have faith in Danny. There will come a moment when you are out of this cage and no matter what is happening, you will need to run, to trust that you will be fine if you do."

She winced, pushing back a sweep of nausea, wondering if it was the darkness causing it like it was causing the chill or if it was hitting her head that had done it this time. Either way, it sucked and she took a deep breath to work past it, speaking once more. "I do not know how your papa is going to do it, little joy, but somehow he will keep you safe. They will not open it, he will not let them. He is the demi-god of hell and they do not realize how very badly they have erred taking those he loves the most."

And torturing Dusk....she knew Danny's fury would have no bounds now. Somehow she almost felt sorry for their captors...and then the feeling passed and she was left with only a grim satisfaction that soon enough, they'd be nothing more than dust.

Her green eyes moved to beyond the cage, looking out at where they were once more and Wyn shivered, the darkness about this place, the evil lapping over her skin. Maybe that was why she felt sick, but it gave her some hope that it might help Danny when he got here. He did thrive off of darkness after all.

Like a river of black pouring over the edges of the small crater they had been wallowing in, the vampire turned his gaze along the span of his shoulders as the sky above turned sour and pitch with the omnious presence coming forward.

Black eyes looked up to the dark clouds and down towards Nova who seemed suddenly rather nervous to the whole thing. Even the acian's had fear.

Scrael came downwards in a swarm of angry leather of skin and ebony bodies, some larger than others but none as massive as the two that walked in tow with the massive horned demi creature that was evidently on a mission. Talus' eyes drew down to the small terra mancer leading them all in a fog of his mind, so the god was capable of possession. He was not aware he had already acquired such a talent, but that wouldn't matter.

Instead the vampire made a quick side note towards the other mancers that were lock jaw gawking at the fearsome radiating that was spanning out in violent waves of energy. He was not surprised that the demi god was in a mindset that resembled a beast, but he was impressed by the darkness the flowed effortlessly around him. The god was nothing sort of imposing and it curled a devilish smile to the vampire's lips.

The possessed terra mancer slowed his advancement, eyes behind the goggles rolling up into his skull as the command for death came silently from the hell god's lips.

The two larger scraels came vaulting forward without command that could be heard, rumbling against the ground like thunderous drums and the vampire grinned. "So you found us after all Great god of Hell." he chimed as the two massive bodies of shadow suddenly parted, Vision tearing after the cage that was in clear sight as her jaws opened to clamp around the bars with a metalic ring, as Flow skirted into a bestial roar and stood between the vampire and the cage. It was evident the lord's intentions was his family first even if his white orange gaze never left the vampire. Cold wrought iron in his sights and a murderous intent that should have brought any mortal man begging to their knees. Nova shuddered as she rubbed her hands along her shoulders.

Then the god did something unusual, he smirked sincerely. "If you wanted my presence so badly, all you had to do was ask." while his face might have been oddly serene, his tone was anything but. There was righteous anger behind his words laced with the bloodlust that only earned to be free.

"Quite, but it's not quite as fun to do it in the civil way."

Danny flicked his gaze to the cage as Vision was cursing adamantly in the voice that could only be heard by him, her powerful jaws putting dents into the metal but that seemed to be it. "Release them. You have something you want to deal with, you deal with me. Putting my family endanger is hardly any way to get me to behave or listen in ways you may wish."

"Oh them, right." Talus looked boredly to them, "Two light elves, my my you've been an interesting little god haven't you." Danny remained motionless to his words, "You can have them back in a moment."

"You think this is up for bartering?"

"It is when your daughter's life is wrapped around the box." Now Danny's gaze turned quizzical, "I have plans for you demi god, great and frightening plans but I need you to cooperate first. Or would you prefer I kill another one of your shadow beasts? The first one was hardly worth the fun."

Mirror stared in curious frightened wonder at the massive scrael trying to chew the bars apart, not to mention the demi god in his true form; the girl moved closer to her mother out of instinct. She didn't need to know that horned tailed massive stature creature was her new father, but she couldn't help the fear that came with seeing such a thing.

Everyone else might have felt fear - or foolish satisfaction on the vampire's part, but that race was always arrogant, even up to the end - at the approach of the black clouds and the presence of terror and hell itself, but Wyn did nothing but smile, a genuine, sincere smile for the first time in a week. He was here. After believing and hoping and praying...he was finally here. No, she couldn't feel anything but a profound relief to see him coming and Wyn barely started when Vision came crashing toward them, only pulling Mirror back from the bars the scrael was trying to tear into.

Wyn's green eyes were for Danny, though, her ears for the conversation at hand and she pulled Mirror into her when her daughter came close, whispering softly. "Do not be scared, little joy. Everything will be well now."

She looked up then and did the only thing she could do. She spoke. "Danny! He wants to combine the two pieces of the heart soul together and revert you back to your gremlin form. They want to take the heart soul pieces from you and use them to destroy the Earth mother and Ivory Lord!" Perhaps her words would do no good in the long run and were not helpful at all, and maybe she'd pay for them in some way, but Wyn was helpless in all other ways.

She could do this, so she had to at least try.

"Little harlot! I'll rip your very throat out and make your child watch!" Talus bellowed his gaze briefly casting sideways towards the cage in a scathing glower, a stupid move entirely. One that was beyond his comprehension for ill advised moves.

The scythe appeared as Danny came over top the vampire in an rush of alarming speed, the blood sucker's eyes turning wide barely missing the slicing blow but failed to escape the grappling hand that came around plummeting the dark arcane into the ground with a bone crushing demise.

Flow along with numerous other scrael came rushing forward, leaping and phasing in and out from their smoky forms, coming quick to snap and bite at the terra mancers as if they were hurdling chickens, squawking and raising plight. "No one threatens my girls!" Danny seethed, "Flow, the acain! Destroy her."

Twisting her frame around the cage to block out the sight of the demi god's form from Mirror and Wyn, Vision pressed her body tight snarling and hissing at the woman that came closer only to find that Flow was a lot faster than he looked.

It all happened so quickly that Mirror wasn't even sure what had happened, all she knew was there was chaos surging. As her ears rose to the sound of clicking, eyes dropping back to look at the unbound hands of her mother from the vampire, Mirror gasped as Vision jumped away as the cage crumbled into soot and fell upon them.

Rushing forward as the screams of the acain's woman wailed up in agony, Shade came twining in quickly to form around Wyn and Mirror's body; Vision still keeping in front of the two girls to block the sight until her lord stated otherwise.

Well...maybe that had done some good.

Wyn had to outright grin at Danny's words, but the expression didn't last long as she focused on the scrael wrapping around their prison. If she'd been by herself she would have been irritated with Vision for blocking her vision, but with Mirror here, Wyn was extremely grateful for it. The child had seen enough horrors in this week to last her for years. She did not need to see this battle. Though, Wyn could guess how it was going completely when the bonds on her wrists snapped off.

The light elf gave a shuddering gasp, feeling the darkness fall away even as their cage did, raining them with ash. Her own power was exhausted, though, and while Wyn knew it was free, she didn't use it. It would be foolish to do so right not anyway. She might hit a scrael with her light and she didn't have adequate control on her energy magic. If someone came close enough to be threatening, then she could act, but until then she knew it was better to stay out of the way.

No, for now she covered Mirror's ears, keeping her daughter close and leaning into Shade as he came around them. Right now she didn't care about feeling useless, accepted it. She'd rather stay right here, still then to cause more damage in this chaos that might hinder Danny's efforts. She would be ready for any instruction he might give, though.

A thump aside. A swarm of shadows. And everything seemed to pause out of reverence. Shade nudged his face to Mirrors in Wyn's hands eagely speaking where none could hear expressing the relief, the joy and the fright in his own way. He merely stopped when Vision's ears perked upwards as her attention turned to consider Flow in his bloody mess while the largest male scrael huffed an snorted in return. They were obviously listening to something that they could only hear.

Moving aside her great body crouching her shoulders down to rub her chin across Wyn's head, snorting much like Flow; the silence was deafening.

Shuffling broke through the quiet, as Mirror looked up with Shade eyes coming to look at the equally exhausted father as his female giant shadow beast brushed hard alongside him. A gesture of paled relief.

Crouching down so not to seem so daunting, the demi god sighed as Mirror bolted to him. Not sure why but knowing exactly why within the same thought. She clung happily, letting tears of rejoice come slipping over her dirty complexion uttering blubbering words as Danny was watching Wyn carefully, joyfully, longing and lovingly. "Three times is far too much for kidnapping." he chimed with fatigue, "Hi." was his final words as Mirror kept close feeling the soft combing hands move through her gristly hair.

Wyn had felt the beat of her heart stop with the silence, waiting with baited breath, unsure if she should feel relief or fear as everyone seemed to wait. Vision's touch to her head sent an unexpected jolt through her body, simply not ready for the contact and she released a shaky breath as if it was the signal that she could do so. And then her eyes were filled with the sight of Danny and Wyn let Mirror go to him, her own body somehow afraid of moving at all.

She watched the two of them, a smiling curling her lips shakily as her green eyes met his orange-white ones, the emotions in his gaze almost overwhelming. They were reflected in her own with a relief so profound that Wyn shook with it and a weak chuckle left her lips in a gasping way at his comment. Yes. Yes it was. She moved toward him then, her legs unsteady and the light elf moved down when she got to him, jarring her knees somewhat painfully, but that hardly registering as she moved into the space Mirror did not take up. She wanted to cry a thousand tears then but they wouldn't come, her eyes as dry as deserts as she simply clung to Danny wordlessly.

Some part of her could not believe it was over, that it had been that easy. Talus had seemed so sure of his plan, so confident even when he'd seen Danny. It was hard to not wonder if they'd all missed something, some trap they'd already fallen for and just didn't know it yet.

Or perhaps that was just well-deserved paranoia talking.

No matter if it was, Wyn was content right where she was, in the arms of the demi-god she loved and curling her own arm around the daughter of her heart.

Everything seemed to come finally to a easily no worry and calm conclusion with no more spring ups that would only force the moment into something beyond the control of the moment. They left with tired eyes and worn bodies, but they left as whole beings.

It took some time to scrub down the girls from their ordeal, coming into the closest town possible to recoop and rejoice in ways that only survivors could, the gremlin elf gone demi god was surprised to learn from Mirror that the box stolen... the box that held one piece of the heart soul piece had released its spell. She couldn't explain it no better than himself, but he was taught to never looked a gifted horse in the mouth. This was one of those times. All he knew was the pieces were absorbed as soon as possible and the prospect of one last piece was the furthest thing from his mind.

No... sitting there are the table watching Mirror and Wyn grin and blossom in renewed joy in the tavern crowded in the light of the day... he knew exactly where he needed to be.

That was right here... and the piece would be there in time. It could wait.

This was where the gremlin belonged. And wasn't that how stories were suppose to end? With the happy ending?

Well... this was his. And he was content in that.
