Drug Market

Sometimes, I wonder why I ever got in.

Blood Market
Love Market
Sometimes, I wonder why they need me at all.

In the far future, body modification is king. People clamor for the newest eyes, ears, internal organs, skins, faces, even animal parts. People are more or less androids these days, all thanks to GeneCo- the one company offering these surgeries on affordable payment plans.

These plans come with a fine stipulation, however. If you miss three payments, the Repo Men come to get you. They're ruthless "surgeons" trained only to chase after you and pull out your GeneCo part, whether it be eyes, liver, functional cat tail- and repossess it. They don't care if you live or die. They only care if you can deliver the money or the part.

And that mighty fine print puts Mag in a might fine predicament.
If Mag up and splits, her eyes are forfeit
and if GeneCo and Rotti so will it,
then a Repo Man will come
and she'll pay for that surgery!

In this story, you play as Repo Men or transhumans. This roleplay is based on, should you not have already guessed, Repo! The Genetic Opera and to a certain degree, the newer movie Repo Men. This roleplay takes place in that "universe" but has very little relation the the actual storylines of those movies. No canon characters should be played. You do not have to have knowlege of these movies to play this RP, but ti does make for good fluff. Generally speaking, the movie trailer is good enough. This one, too (to a lesser degree).

Trnashumans are people who have had, or will have in the future some type of modification provided by Geneco. They can also be those who simply want a bodymod but refuse to get one for whatever reason (these types of people will usually work or Geneco, but that is not required).

Repo Men work for GeneCo on a contract basis. They are similar to bounty hunters. They are given lists of people with overdue payments and are sent to collect. The equipment(organs, etc.) is returned to GeneCo headquarters.

But how do the Repo Men deal with these moral and ethical problems? How do the transhumans make payments? Run from the repo men?

CHARACTER CREATION
All characters in this roleplay are human. However, they may have endless body modifications (functioning similar to androids, or possibly even furries/anthros). You will always be a modified human, not a robot with human parts.

All Repo Men work for GeneCo. There are no "rogue" Repo Men. Ex-Repo men are fine, but remember if you continued to murder people, the police would be after you.

While there are no limits to what your character does (for a living) it is preferred you play as someone who either works for GeneCo or someone who is currently running from the company for whatever reason. Take this particular rule lightly, however. You can ultimately do whatever you want.

RULES
Only kill NPCs. Otherwise, you must ask permission OOC if you can kill someone else's characters (PM or something; we have no OOC thread)

Repo Men are not unkillable. The rules of Geneco are legally to make every effort to NOT kill the person the Repo man is chasing. While this is often ignored, it means you have to pay lip service to the rule-- Which means, in turn, that you can't go in with guns a'blazing or anything. Traditional weapons would be tazer guns and medical equipment. Also possibly drugs.

CHARACTER SHEETS
OH GOD I WANTS THEM.
They do not need approval. Post your character's bio in a spoiler tag and just post. You're auto-accepted.

Character Name:
Player Name:
Status:
Summary:

Example:
Character Name: Your character's name
Player Name: Your screenname
Status: What you're currently doing. In example, "Repo Man" or "On the run". It can be more in-depth than that, but it's not necessary.
Summary: A SHORT description of your character. For example, "Bob is a 25 year old average joe. After a heart failure he was coerced into getting a replacement by Geneco and unable to make payments is now hiding out in a shack under the bridge".
MAKE IT SHORT.

The key here is I want your character to show out gradually THROUGH YOUR POSTS. The bio is just a quick guide to who's where.

THE CITY
You're in a city named Zurich. It is a congested, smoggy place full of night life and crime. The outskirts are extremely rundown and full of black market drug and organ trades. Further outside the city are ruins of an even older city that fell victim to a flood. It now functions as a rather convenient moat secluding Zurich from other cities.
While trespassing the water is possible, it is extremely polluted and advised against. Putting the smell aside, there's no telling what the latent chemicals in there could do to your skin.

THE CORPORATION
Geneco is run by a bunch of people who originally had good intentions but now have become spoiled with money, pride, and sin. Now corrupt, the company's higher-ups now do all they can to squeeze pennies out of the people. They continually try to gain political control over the city and to an extent already have, if their ability to hire repo men and basically kill people is any indication.

They also, of course, keep track of their own parts and dispense the repo men to the people they deem most worth to regain their equipment and put them in someone else.

Come up and try my new parts!
Bow down and break ‘em in!
Before I change my heart
Shut up and try my new parts!

Layla ran faster breathing hard, the repo man was hot on her tail and she was not about to go back to being blind and deaf she rounded a corner and saw an abandoned house. She squeezed in through a window and sat quietly waiting for him to pass.

Layla sighed in relief when she heard him pass, but she suddenly froze her tail twitching she realized she was not alone. She turned around and made out a tall shadowy figure in the darkness there was no point in trying to run or hide he/she had seen her. "Hello?" she called cautiously.

Character Name: Lori Lentil
Player Name: [Q]
Status: Homeless
Summary: Lori started out as a rich kid. His parents died and left him a huge inheritance. He spent it all on body mods. While all his parts are paid off, he has no money at all to his name and due to his looks, probably no chance of getting a job. Image.

Lori brought a can of soup to his face from the ground to examine it. Bringing the aluminum to his red goggles to get a better view, he let out a small "Hmmm". After deciding it was good enough for him, he stuck it in a dirty satchel that was held up by his shoulder.
Just then, he saw bumbling flashlights and heard a bunch of noise.
The Repo Men were chasing another one.

Lori sighed, his feathers for ears wilting a bit. He shook his head in a slow 'not them again' gesture. His head was covered in a yellow bandana which was wrapped around red horns. Lori had been one of the first to go for the anthro look, and had paid a massive price for it. He was beginning to regret it now. About the one thing that had proven useful was his fully mechanical left arm. It had at one time had skin on it, but after all the years of living on the streets it had been damaged and he didn't bother to hide his mechanical parts now.

Unlike most others, his parts were paid for. Of course, he had absolutely no money now and was struggling to live. Through his red goggles, he saw someone run into an abandoned house. His house. He hmphed. Now the filthy repo men would be all over it.

He looked around, shoving his long red scarf out of his face. He managed to find a large rock, pick it up, and throw it over to another street.
"THIEF!" He screamed. "They took my bag!!"

The bouncing flashlights changed their motion and lit up Lori, who now was pointing over in a random direction, away from his house with an agitated look on his face.
The repo men hesitated, but finally ran off in the direction Lori had pointed.

The 20 year old sighed and walked back toward the house some new runaway was stowing themselves in.

Character Name: Garrett "Asphalt" Lawson
Player Name: Charbovari
Status: Entry-level Repo Man.
Summary: Asphalt graduated from the school of hard knocks: he lost his mother to a heart condition when he was eight, and his father to terminal cancer of the brainstem when he was thirteen, in the typical way that the ranks of the poor were thinned by the 21st Century Organ Plague. "You take the alley, I'll take the street!" Asphalt yelled to his partner. He ran towards the street as directed by the the oddly dressed man, following a sound which he hoped were the target's footsteps. As he ran, he reported into his communicator: "Central Office, 10-103 on client L. Jones, reported theft, personal effects of... feathered bystander, 3rd quadrant A-52." "10-4," responded the crisp female voice from Central.

Asphalt readied the "stun" option on his arm-kit, the gears and barrels within the apparatus clanking as they fell into place. Leaning his back against the ruined brick wall of an apartment complex, he stealthily stepped out from the darkness, stun-gun at the ready. He was greeted by nothing but the halogen lamps and semi-functional neon billboards of the seedy street. Cars whizzed past him at deafening speed, invisible wraiths of the night as they flew by, dangerously close to the edge of the road. Always going someplace... do they ever get there? Asphalt wondered to himself. Maybe being in your car, speeding like a madman until you run out of 'lectric, is one of the few places left where you're in control.

His communicator crackled again, it was his partner. "Got anything? It's a dead-end here."

"Nothing. Fuck. The Boss's going to blow a gasket. FUCK!" Asphalt pounded his left (human) fist against the wall behind him. His expression of frustration was answered by the distant sound of a cat screeching, pots falling, and an old woman's voice: "Keep it down!"

"Damn, sorry. They don't build houses like they used to, do they?" he muttered, glancing up as his Repo partner approached down the alleyway.

Recruiting a player for Asphalt's partner Repossession Agent! Repo-Woman, perhaps? Not necessary, just throwing the idea out there. Tried to leave the above gender-neutral, I can always edit later. Hop on in and be her/him!

Layla walked out of the house and onto the street, pausiong to brush a cobweb fromher ear she started walking and froze when she saw a tall man at the end of the alley (asphalt). She couldn't tell whether he was a repo man or not so she stood in the shadows praying her wouldn't see her.

Asphalt's diminutive partner click-click-clicked a pen in her hand as she approached the massive soldier, not looking forward but rather poring over some paperwork on a clipboard she held in her other hand. She spoke to Asphalt: "This is our third lost recovery this month. You like to complain about your job, Agent Lawson, but you've got your irrevocable contract. In my case, if I get an 82 or lower on my next performance evaluation, it's my head on the line."

"Probably your actual head, too," Asphalt noted. "You've got a nice, healthy brain in there," he added, gently knocking the side of her head with his knuckles. "Don't fuss about it, yeah? Me and the section leader are like this," he said, crossing two fingers of his hand in the air. "You're good. And corporate can't afford t-- did you hear that? Damn it, Jansen, quit with the clicking!" Asphalt yanked the GeneCo-branded pen out of his partner's fingers and tossed it into the middle of the street in one swift motion. "Listen!" he whispered emphatically.

As the two agents lowered their voices and moved behind the wall of the apartment block, they could faintly hear frightened whimpers, in the quiet moments between the drag race-like zooms that came from the cars hurtling down the street. The pitiful sound had an undefinable cat-like aspect in its softness.

Asphalt readied his stun-gun forearm and carefully aligned the apparatus in front of his nose, squinting with one eye, and pressed a button somewhere that caused a night-vision scope to flick up in front of his face. The shadowy shape of a shivering, crouched figure appeared in his lens. The image was too grainy to make out any of the details, but the outline of a head was visible, letting him aim lower, for what he hoped would be L. Jones's upper arm. "Target acquired," he whispered. "Fire when ready," Jansen said bureaucratically. Asphalt trained the crosshairs in the center of his scope on that shoulder, and just when his nerves nearly began getting to him--he knew he would just keep getting more wobbly if he waited any longer--he willed his arm to fire. With a spark of light, the electrode shot out of its barrel, and the instantaneous shriek of Valued Customer L. Jones, accompanied with a faint sizzle, provided enough confirmation of the result. Asphalt sighed and muttered, "Do your thing, Agent."

Jansen produced a new GeneCo pen from somewhere in her long jacket, checked off a box on her clipboard, and silently rehearsed some of the recommended phrases from the procedural rulebook: "(1a) GeneCo has your health and best interest in mind; (4c) We are just here to ask some questions and create a payment plan that works for you; (88a) Please be advised, you relinquish your right to arbitration by any uncooperative actions," etc. Her pointed high-heels click-clacked in a steady, relentless rhythm that echoed loudly in the alleyway as she approached the incapacitated girl. Jansen checked her pockets briefly to make sure all her supplies were present: flashlight, business cards, needle and thread, scalpel. Asphalt followed close behind and leaned casually against a wall in the shadows, near the dark doorway where the small creature had collapsed.

New players, feel free to hop in as Asphalt's partner at any time... if you don't like Jansen, you can write as anyone and I'll go back and fix my posts accordingly! Or of course, you can create your own storyline/throw someone else entirely into the mix and I'll NPC Agent Jansen/get rid of her as necessary. It's all good!

Layla felt them standing over them, she concentrated hard and could just barely move her legs she had been shot so many times she had a slight immunity to the drug but she would have to wait for just the right moment. She listened to the agent running through the rulebook, she must be new the older agents just cut and got on with it. This was not the first close call she had ever had but this was going to be difficult, she layed still until she could feel the female agent just above her. She tensed and sprang forward knocking the female agent off her feet disarming her, she pushed the male agent to the ground and took his gun as well. Pointing one gun at his head and the other at the female agent she stepped back "don't move!" she said menacingly, her breathing was shallow and she was finding it hard to stand. She stared at them, never moving the guns from their heads. She didn't know what to do she felt the drug spreading quickly throughout her body, she knew she couldn't hold up much longer. She looked at them and knew if she killed them now she would be safe at least for now, but she didn't think she could do it and if she ran it wouldn't be long before they caught her. She leaned against the wall trying to think.

Layal made a split decision throwing their guns down she turned and ran, turning corners and down side streets making sure she had lost them. breathing hard she slipped into the first seemingly abandoned house she could find and practically collapsed. Curling up into a corner she finally passed out from the drug hoping nothing would be waiting for her when she woke up.

Character Name:Antioch Mildrorn ((goes by Aldion to hide from Repo Men))
Player Name: Gilliad
Status: Transhuman on the run
Summary: He always wanted to have sharper canines so he got wolf's canines. Then decided after the elven ears he wouldn't pay for the canines so he went into hiding and lives under a different name. He has been hiding for five years now.

Antioch walked in from work sighing as he looked into the fridge. He needed to go out to get food badly because his fridge was empty. Luckily the store wasn't far to he decided to take a walk down there and go shopping. He made sure the door was locked and his gun was in its holster under his jacket. He let his hair down over his ears and walked down the stairs and out the apartment door. He made sure to be careful to look for any Repo Men and as he got to the store he grabbed a cart and walked into the store looking for what he needed.

An hour later he was at the register paying for his goods and that was when his five years of running went down the drain and he dropped everything grabbed his gun and ran for the door. The Repo Men finally caught up with him and he didn't want them seeing him. He ran quickly to the nearest manhole and climbed into it unseen by anyone especially the Repo Men. This time he was lucky but he knew he wouldn't be able to return home now so he went were he knew he could go.

Half an hour later Antioch showed up at a old run down factory and knocked on the door. "Who's there?" a rough sounding male voice said. "It's me" Antioch said. "Antioch that you mate?" said the familiar voice of Antioch's old friend James. "Yea let me in they found me I need a place to hide for a few days." He knew he was in trouble if James didn't let him in. "Alright but I'm warning ya you don't want to do that." That was when Antioch knew they had got to James already and he ran again and didn't stop till his legs were numb and then he still ran.

Image: Here. ((I swear, I'm not trying to hijack the game with FF characters... these two just worked! PS, can you fix the link to Asphalt's picture in the intro post? I think I broke it, but it's fixed in my revised post with his bio.))

Agent Jansen was caught off-guard as the girl, previously crumpled in what she thought was a helpless, unconscious mass on the floor, leapt up and ambushed her and her repo partner. L. Jones displayed extraordinary strength as she not only stole Jansen's weapon, but also wrestled with Asphalt's muscular gun-arm and managed to point it at his own head--a feat that would have been downright impossible, were the massive agent not caught completely by surprise. The cat-eared girl used this sudden disruption of the balance of power to slip out of their grasp, speeding out of sight down the alley before finally dropping Jansen's gun.

Asphalt yelled with rage, and blasted off down the alleyway at full speed, in an attempt to give chase to and apprehend the girl. Jansen shook her head, and drew another sleek stun gun from her pocket. She casually aimed and fired the weapon--at her own partner. The man twitched in pain, turned around, and gesticulated angrily as he yelled at his co-worker.

"The fuck you doing! Shoot the target, not me! We gotta go after her! She's going to collapse; no one can last long with the electro-venom in their system--"

"Face it, Agent Lawson. You missed. She screamed as though she were hit, to trick us, but you missed. Learn from your mistakes and move on. And don't compromise our safety by leading us on a wild cat chase."

Jansen turned up the dial on her pocket-size stun gun, causing Asphalt Lawson to flinch again and finally collapse to his knees, moaning softly, "Aah-- aah--" before she finally turned it off. The behemoth of a man breathed heavily as he suppressed the ongoing pain from his partner's weapon. Even though he had been through hours of training in how to deal with these devices, it was never a pleasant feeling to be electro-shocked and mildly poisoned.

Jansen sighed, pushing her glasses up her nose with a frown. "Now tell me, who was that man who told you to run out to the street?" Asphalt pointed at the darkened doorway from which the feathered bystander had spoken. "Some feathered freak. He went in there."

Jansen approached the door and gave it a sharp rap with her knuckles. "Open up, sir, we're with GeneCo. We need to ask you a few questions."

I'm adding this new character if that's ok with you [Q]?

Character Name:
Agent Mason Stone
Player Name: Kitty Kat
Status: Senior Repo agent
Summary: Mason had a heart attack in a car accident so he had to get a new one from Gene Co, He was unable to make payments so he now works off his debt. But he always lets the runaways go if he can.

Mason walked accross the road shuddering slightly as he passed the cars rembering his accident, he stepped onto the side walk and radioed Central office "Senior agent Stone responding to 10-103 on client L.Jones in 3rd quadrant A-52." "10-4, agent Stone agents Lawson and Jensen require backup" came the reply. He shook his head what trouble has that girl gotten into now? hope she got away ok.Mason looked around for the agents, seeing them knocking on a door he walked over. "Agents Lawson? Jensen? Senior agent stone" he carelessly flashed his badge "Central sent me as backup in apprehending L.Jones, has she been caught?" he asked causally but he was thinking to himself God I hope not.

Layla unconscious from the eltrco venom, began to dream of her life before her enhancements from GenCo and her present one.

Antioch ran and ran. When he finally found himself standing in a open clearing in some woods he finally stopped. He just got the best idea ever, he would start a refugee camp for those like him who was wanted by GeneCo. It was perfect he would start tomorrow if he could, he would go out and look for many different people who bought new parts and didn't pay for them and see if anyone would help him out. Soon he may eventually get enough to start a war with the agents and GeneCo itself. This was a great place to have it to so he pulled out the dagger from its ankle sheath and started to cut his way through the field. He found a good spot then he went and looked for good sturdy sticks to make a shelter against the big tree in the center of the field.

Once he finished the shelter he went out to look for leaves and stuff to make a camoflaged roof and then he hunted for food for the first time. He used his dagger to hunt down and kill a fully grown male deer. Soon he had a small fire going and the deer meat was cooking on it, but he had to cook fast so that he could douse the fire and not let anyone know he was there just yet. The agents chasing him could have found which way he went and he didn't want them finding him.
