~Melody/Sybil~
Melody heard Kat start the announcement, and took a deep breath of the fresh, salty air. So... This was it, huh? First challenge comin' up.. Guess it's go time. Brushing her long blonde hair back over her shoulders, and quietly made her way to the now unveiled course. In all honesty, the challenge seemed to be a relief. It could've been much worse. Besides... Melody admittedly enjoyed a good obstacle course.
When she heard the names of her fellow competitors, she took a quick glance about. She didn't know who Desmond or Blacheflor were, but she was sure that they'd be fair competition. She took her starting position, determination in her eyes. She didn't need her team thinking she was weak and invaluable..
Suddenly, Melody became aware of a boy next to her, whom she assumed was Desmond, that had spoken to her. Immediately she recognized him as the male whom had been staring at her earlier. She offered him a smile, tucking a stray hair behind her ear. "Oh, hey! Nice to meet you, Desmond," she replied, smiling. Sybil..? So, he thinks that's my name, just like everyone else. "Yeah, yeah.. I'm Sybil. I typically go by Melody, or Mel, though," she answered. It wasn't entirely a lie.. Sybil, in order to keep her DID a secret, had adjusted to people calling her Melody. After all.. Mel was the only side anyone knew. Sybil hardly spoke, and frequently was startled into switching consciences.
When the whistle was blown, Melody started off immediately. She began making her way across the board, lacking speed. Rather, she crossed with her eyes closed, feet gracefully moving along the plank and arms out to help with balance. Once or twice, she glanced at Desmond, noticing the smile he gave and returned it politely. She had gotten across in no time, not once faltering on the way across. I guess those years of makeshift balance-beams in my room really paid off. She stood on the platform, biting her lip and looking up at the wall she needed to climb. Sure, she was a great climber.. But this wasn't exactly like rock climbing bluffs, or scaling oaks. Taking a deep breath, she leapt for the wall, barely managing to snag one of the ropes. She gave a squeal as she struggled to latch on.
~Chasidy~
Chasidy blunk, glancing to the host. Blimey, they were going to be late! Soon enough, she was there, and the girl parted to join her group without another word. As soon as the course was unveiled, Chasidy had it memorized, and was already calculating how to get it done.. This would be a snap! She hardly bothered to care what 'team' she was paired with, as she didn't need to know to get this done. She joined them quietly, and started across the beam the second the whistle was blown.
She went at a slower, steadfast pace, taking her time to make sure she didn't fall. Too easy. Pausing momentarily when she reached the platform, she quickly calculated accurate timing to jump according to wind flow blowing the ropes. Huffing with effort, she jumped, barely reaching the rope. It took a minute for her to secure it in her grasp, before she slowly began climbing.
~Astyr~
Astyr smiled at her teammates, giving them a nod of encouragement. "Well... Good luck, guys!" she offered, giving one last smile before darting to the course. She swiftly joined her 'team', relieved to see it was just a couple of guys. One of them was tall, fit, lean.. Actually, quite attractive. The other was much shorter in stature, and seemed awfully nervous and rickety. This'll be a snap! She smiled at the two she'd be competing against. "Well.. I wish you both good luck!" she said outgoingly, sincerity laced through her voice.
When the whistle was blown, Astyr took off without a glance back. However, her attempt to move quickly ended in a quick fall. Cursing quietly, she swam back, before starting again at a more rational pace. She moved a bit slower, but it was worth it, as she made it the whole way this time(though she lost her balance a time or two). The second she reached the next platform, she leapt for the wall, easily snatching the rope and starting to scale the wall. Balance wasn't her thing in the slightest, but climbing? She had that in the bag.
