  • My greetings, future RP partner. *tips hat*

I mean… I am going to find a RP partner here. Right? Someone who's at least moderately interested in what I have to offer? Right?

    Ahem
    . Well, anyway.

    A few things about me:

Those are my die-hard favorites. But so long as an idea isn't set in a strict magical-, historical-, or crime-based setting, it may well catch my interest.
My average is 2-5 paragraphs per reply, depending on what's happening in the RP. I will take anywhere from a couple of hours to a couple of days to reply due to coursework, work work, or writer's block. It's cool if that's the same for you. Take your time. (And please let me take mine!)

Plot-based writing is what comes naturally to me, so a focus on detailed character introspection isn't my strong suit. This is something I'm working on, though.

My writing sample is included on my profile page if you'd like to see if we're drift compatible. It's a lot longer than my usual posts will be; that's so you can get a feel for the way I write dialogue, action scenes, etc.
Male, female. Young, old. Extroverts, introverts, ambiverts. I have no qualms with writing secondary characters, either. Doubling mains might prove a bit challenging, but I'll still give it my best shot.
Romance rarely holds my attention, so I would strongly prefer to keep the RP romance-free. On the off chance a romance does occur, I will only do MxF and will not do smut.
I like for RPs to have a good mix of action and "down time" to keep things interesting (think of your typical Marvel movie). So long as things don't get gratuitous (i.e. extreme depictions of gore/violence) and start to dominate the RP with endless angst, I'm all here for it. And vice versa; 100% fluff RPs don't quite do it for me, either. On a semi-related note, I'm 26.
Unless it's to serve a pragmatic purpose, I avoid using face claims, BB code, mood playlists, or anything like that. It's 121% coolio if you're into RP aesthetics. I'm just not creative like that.
Finally, I would like to spend at least a day working on the plot we've chosen so that we're both on the same page about things. After that, we can OOC as much or as little as you'd like. :)

Okay, now time for the plots!

MC = My Character YC = Your Character

MC will have a brief description so you can get a feel for what it'll be like RPing with them.
  • Influenced by the indie game Rimworld, this plot has a theme of "sci-fi meets the wild, wild west". It's set on a backwater planet in the distant future where drug empires and organ farms are the norm in more than one of the prevailing factions that control the planet. Plotting opportunities abound, but I do have one starting scenario:

MC is a goodwill officer, trained since childhood to dedicate his life to helping those in need. After the completion of his latest mission, he comes across YC. YC could be:

*A fellow goodwill officer (with news of a mission from their commander?)

*A traveling merchant/treasure hunter looking for a guide/extra muscle for their expedition

*A pirate/outlaw out for revenge against MC for his meddling in their faction's exploits

*A civilian in need of help (Raiders? Organ farmers? Man-hunting animals?)

*An "opportunist" who's interested in acquiring MC's valuable weaponry and bionics

*A mysterious drifter (if YC has a hidden motive they don't want MC to know about)

*A time traveler who, upon waking from their cryptosleep casket, finds themselves thousands of years in the future

*Some other eighth thing. There's a lot of directions we can take this!

MC played by: Alon Renzo; 19; wandering mercenary; level-headed; "by-the-book"; ascetic; reclusive; borderline illiterate; likes animals (dangerous ones), learning about different cultures/historical studies; skilled in stealth, setting traps, and animal training/husbandry.

    Genre: Sci-Fi.

Note: Just because it's set in the future doesn't mean everyone has access to or knowledge of advanced technology. In-game cannon identifies tribal factions with little to no technological advancement at all. Your character can run the gamut from a fully decked-out, mechanoid-revering cyber soldier, to a medieval rogue with a bio-prosthetic or two, to a simple, unmodified laborer.

It's also fine if you've never played a second of Rimworld! Being a sandbox-style storyteller, there isn't that much lore to it, but I'd be happy to let you know about the game's main factions, flora, and fauna.
  • The Cash-Inn, a popular neighborhood bed-and-breakfast/casino, was foreclosed on after the owner was unable to pay the mortgage upon her sudden hospitalization. MC is a graduate student trying to work his way through both massive student debt and everyday expenses that come with living in an expensive tourist area. Seeking to turn a drawback into an opportunity, he uses his life savings to purchase the foreclosed residence and places some of the bedrooms up for rent. Soon afterward, an individual in the form of YC answers MC's ad.

On YC's move-in day, MC gives YC a tour of the house, only to find a previously unknown false wall leading to a secret basement that was not on the floor plan.

MC played by: Ian Nash; 24; male; graduate student (engineering); entrepreneurial; hospitable; cheapskate; risk-taker; enjoys repairing/restoring what junk he can find while dumpster diving; skilled in renovation and home appliance repair.

Genre: Realistic or Sci-Fi, depending on what's in the basement. But I'm leaning more realistic.

(Negotiable) Plot Twist: The previous owner was involved in a counterfeit money ring, and our OCs find one of her fake cash stashes. Letters addressed to her start arriving in the mail. Strangers start to prowl around the house. Do break-ins follow? What's the real cause behind the last owner's hospitalization? And most importantly, how will our characters react to all the fake cash?

Note: The remaining rooms can house as many roommates (in the form of side characters) as the plot calls for.
  • Note: I'd prefer to play Character A!
    "Night(mare) Ridin'"

Character A, an Uber driver, doesn't usually work at night. But they're working overtime in an effort to save up for a purchase they're planning to make soon. At just before midnight, Character A decides to accept one last trip when Character B schedules a ride. Minutes into the trip, our characters notice an alarming number of police cars driving past at high speed. It doesn't take long for them to discover the source of the panic.

    -OR-

    "Grocery Run"

Character B just placed an order from a grocery delivery service. Character A picked up the job, and the two strike up a conversation while Character A texts Character B progress updates. (i.e. "Hey, they're all sold out of that ingredient you wanted, but I know a great replacement. Are you making (dish)? That's my favorite!" Etc. etc.)

Character A completes the trip and starts to drop off the groceries for Character B at their house. But soon afterward, a disturbance causes the two to run to Character A's car and seek shelter, with whatever food Character B bought and supplies Character A has in their vehicle.

(If MC) Character A played by: Penny Zimmermann; 26; female; "gig" worker/university student (theater arts); upbeat; team player; athletic; nosy; conspiratorial; enjoys wrestling, roller derby and LARP; may be too involved in the later; skilled actress and seamstress.

Genre: Realistic or Sci-Fi, depending on what the disturbance is.

(Negotiable) Plot Twist: Okay, but alien invasion? Zombie outbreak? Mass insanity event a la Stephen King's Cell?
  • Note: I'm cool with playing either character here. (Slight preference for Character B, though!)

Character A is an extreme couponer. While couponing has saved them a pretty penny, it's also caused them to develop a rivalry of sorts with Character B, the owner of the grocery store Character A likes to frequent. Character A constantly holds up the lines with their literal handfuls of coupons, which led to the two coming up with a tacit agreement: Character A will only shop there an hour before closing, usually when there are less customers.

Just as they're finishing up for the day, an unexpected and fast-moving blizzard drops several feet of snow on the tiny town they live in, closing roads, knocking out the power, and causing the store to go into lockdown. Characters A and B are trapped until they are rescued days (weeks?) later.

(If MC) Character A played by: Ian Nash; 24; male; graduate student (engineering); entrepreneurial; hospitable; cheapskate; risk-taker; enjoys repairing/restoring what junk he can find while dumpster diving; skilled in renovation and home appliance repair.

(If MC) Character B played by: Janet "Ann" Johansenn; 59; female; retired nurse/social worker; fair; pragmatic; protective; impatient; technologically-challenged; enjoys gardening, radio dramas, and bass guitar; her older sister who ran the store passed away months earlier; skilled in advanced medicine, reading body language and the intentions of others, mental math.

    Genre: Realistic.

(Negotiable) Plot Twists: This could be set the night before Christmas or just before a special event for extra social drama. Or our characters could fight off looters and hungry animals while trying not to freeze to death by the sudden onset snowpocalypse for more of a survivalist theme.
  • These are plots that sort of have a plot to them, but will need some more to really get going.

    "Animal Cops"

MC is part of the law enforcement arm of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), and investigates cases of animal cruelty for a living. YC is:

    *Another ASPCA agent

    *A veterinarian

    *A documentarian

    *An animal empath/whisperer (?)

    *A shapeshifter (??)

*An alien species mistaken for a prized Earth creature (???)

    *Something else entirely (?!?!?!)

MC played by: Nora Kujo; 31; female; ASPCA law enforcement agent; thrill-seeker; resourceful; observant; agile; adrenaline-junkie/impulsive; independent worker; enjoys hiking, camping, X-cross; skilled in firearms and self-defense.

    Genre: Realistic/Sci-Fi.

Note: I was thinking our characters could be involved in disrupting animal gambling/fighting rings, animal hoarding, big game hunters, illegal experimentation, maybe some political scuffles over funding, etc., but I could use a hand with developing those storylines further.

    -OR-

    "Food Poisoning"

Character A is STARVING. On the verge of MADNESS from the growing pit in their stomach. And Character B, the delivery person, just dropped the food Character A ordered during the hand-off. While Character B deals with Character A's full-on meltdown, a bird helps itself to the discarded meal. Twelve seconds later, it's in convulsions. Another ten seconds, it's dead.

Note: I am okay with playing either Character A or Character B, and will develop a character once I have a feel for the direction this plot is headed.

    -OR-

    "YOU'RE SO HURTFUL!!"

Okay, this last one's a stretch. Like, I'm talking a chimera hybrid of Mr. Fantastic, Elastigirl, and "Straw Hat" Luffy levels of contortion going on here. But does anyone remember the Moody's Point skits from The Amanda Show? And how it ended on a cliffhanger with Moody's real parents being a pair of clowns, and she decides to go live with them at the circus? My inner child is dying for a proper end to this sadly cancelled work of excellence.

I will play any character (Moody, Sternum, Spaulding, etc.) and will happily make an exception to my earlier stance on romance. (It's gonna be a really campy romance for an already really campy idea, so just keep that in mind.) We can even do this as a separate side RP in addition to any of the other plots we agree on.

If you don't remember/never watched Moody's Point, all seven skits are available on YouTube!
  • If you have a plot that you'd like to run by me, do that! I'll let you know if I'm interested. It'd be great if we can somehow combine your plot with one of the ones above so we're both happy.
  • And there we have it. If you're interested, please feel free to leave a comment or send me a PM. I prefer to keep all communications to Iwaku only, as I don't use Discord. Thanks for reading, have a nice day!

"At Least We Won't Starve to Death" is no longer available! I can take on maybe one or two more partners if anyone else is interested in the remaining plots.
