Plot​

The story of Tokyo Ghoul follows Ken Kaneki, who barely survives a deadly encounter with Rize Kamishiro, a woman who is revealed to be a ghoul, a human-like creature that hunts and devours human flesh, and is taken to the hospital in critical condition. After recovering, Kaneki discovers that somehow he underwent a surgery that transformed him into a half-ghoul, and just like them, must consume human flesh to survive as well. With no one else to turn to, he is taken in by the ghouls who manage the coffee shop "Anteiku", who teach him to deal with his new life as a half-human/half-ghoul, including interacting with ghoul society and its conflicting factions, while striving to keep his identity secret from other humans.[2]​
The prequel series Tokyo Ghoul: JACK follows the youths of Kishou Arima and Taishi Fura, two characters from the main series who become acquainted when they join forces to investigate the death of Taishi's friend by the hands of a ghoul, leading to Taishi eventually following Arima's path and joining the CCG (Commission of Counter Ghoul), the federal agency tasked into dealing with crimes related to ghouls as well.
The sequel series Tokyo Ghoul:re follows an amnesiac Kaneki under the new identity of Haise Sasaki, the leader of a special team of CCG investigators called "Quinx Squad", that underwent a similar procedure as his, allowing them to obtain the special abilities of Ghouls in order to fight them, but still being able to live as normal humans.

Backstory:Ryan has hated ghouls ever snice he can remember. The reason why is because a ghoul killed both of his parents righ in front his eyes. Right before the ghoul could kill Ryan a detective killed the ghoul. The detective felt sorry for the boy and took him in a raised him as if he was his own. Ryan was taught to defend himself against any ghoul. By the age 18 Ryan had killed 10 ghouls. When Ryan turned 20 he went to the detective academy. by the age 21 he graduated from the academy. Now he goes on killing ghouls.

Grave uses a Rinkaku. It's strong by himself alone, but to top it off, he has a dagger to help him in battle.
It does not take on the form as that particular shape. It is more slender and jagged for easier cutting.
However it does use up much energy, but not as much as a Ukaku.
Used for Long-Range combat, the weapon is quicker to hack and slash in close combat rather than mid-range.
It also is a dark purple, almost black.

Without a home to live in, Grave wandered the streets as a kid. His parents disowned him. Well, that was before
his parents got eaten, at least. Cannibalism was now someone's thing, and it would be his as well.
Without knowing who he was, he was thirty for blood, until he noticed another ghoul to help him out.
Ever since that encounter, Grave has been excelling in combat, yet too gentle to harm even a bee.

This young ghoul uses that of a Ukaku, almost suited to her CCG classed name, "The Phoenix," her kagune is unusually pretty for something so ugly. The are large by nature as if to act like an intimidating technique; the appear to be molted down plumage. Though that is anything of the sort. Blood red in presence the ebb a soulish glow that is purely aesthetic but it mimicks the look of hot flame. In attack the kagune launches off short bursts -no more than ten- of shard like bits of itself. Sharp and rigid, they pack a powerful punch. in turn this drains Skade faster than if she was simply using her kagune for a burst of speed.

Nimble and quick, Skade proves to be a experienced fighter but knows her limits.

Backstory:
Perhaps born on the better side of the tracks, Skade was taught from day one that humans were to be leery of but not hidden from. Not all humans were ghoul hunters and not all ghouls like themselves were peace loving. Her parents took a dangerous role in the world being commonly known by people within their town. Her father was that of a doctor, her mother a secretary for a law firm. To say she lived comfortably was nothing short than the truth.

She went to school with others learning and constantly hearing how careful she had to be to avoid detection. Not to say she wasn't already curious. With hair as snowy white as a winter day, Skade gathers attention. Considering a lack of pigment for her hair, the young ghoul likes the difference rather than loathe it. A good student and an advent reader, Skade went unknown for the longest time. But all good things fall. It was never revealed to her but other ghouls had come to make an example of her parents. To this day she doesn't care to know why. Officers arrived late coming to find a hidden child ticked deep beneath the stairs utterly refusing to come out; Skade was placed in foster care until she reached 16. Stealing away into the night having already perfected her nightly slip out, she left her home town for new things.

At times she would alliance with other ghouls but quickly found that she didn't enjoy the heinous acts they liked to commit. While she understands what she was, she couldn't condone senseless violence. She was a deemed weak by many.

When she matured to eighteen is when she settled on her current place. She works part time as a bar host making decent tips and horrible company of disgusting sorts. It was here Skade threw away her idea of just consuming those who died but luring in company of men and women she knew were criminals and wouldn't be missed. Not to say she eats everything but enough to make it known there is a ghoul around and to keep herself fed.

She has had run ins with the CCG a few times earning her the name, the Phoenix; she usually tries to stay clear of them. Her mask is rightly formed to be a beautifully painted partial mask of a peacock bird, done in reds and orange; it only covers the top of her face.

In current times Skade has dated -and killed- a wealthy beastly of a man for a number of months. Having an alibi to claim no involvement in the murder, she has earned herself a lavish five bedroom home in the nicer section of the city, wealth to spare. She often opens her home to others -human and ghoul alike- she has recently begun college to begin learning some new assets.​

Koukaku, good for quick (though not painless) strikes, that if aimed correctly can silently kill off prey. Claude likes to avoid using his Koukaku unless he is completely alone and there isn't any chances for witnesses. Otherwise, he relies on hand-to-hand (despite that being his weakest skill) and more often then not straight up running away. He can only use the Koukaku in bursts, his frail body structure leaves him with not as much energy as he would prefer.

The Vontain family is notorious to humans for their large enterprise of strong political figures. However, to ghouls, they are more famed for there pack-hunting style and vicious ground rules. All of the Vontains are built strongly and a force to be reckoned with. However, one generation, a Vontain man married and had a child with a woman, who's genes from her family had traces of frail body structures and in rare cases heart diseases. The family of the mother never said anything, in hopes that the Vontain's powerful genes would make a satisfactory child, considering the chances of a frail child were very rare. The mother had twins, and while one of them was strong and showed great potential, the other one was week and almost didn't survive being born.

Claude was the weakest twin. The family never neglected him at a young age because babies were always frail in the beginning, but in his adolescent years it was clear he was frail and weak. The entire family of Vontains were horrified that someone of their blood had so little potential. Claude endured extremely intense training, more intense then his brother, who was already strong to begin with. The training sessions always left him weak and bruised, and he was teased by everyone.

As soon as the realization was made that Claude's mother had provided weak genetics, the mother's entire family line was slaughtered, however Claude was kept, locked in his room with enough to keep him entertained, and was completely wiped from the family name. Claude was very quiet, but as the years went by, he became angry. His brother got everything he had ever wanted, but he was lucky if someone so much as looked in his general direction. One night he snapped, and that was the first time his Kagune had ever been released. The training sessions for releasing the Kagune had never worked because Claude had never felt the need to release such power. Claude broke out of his room and stormed into his brother's, killing his twin before he could awake.

Claude had gone insane in that moment, and from that day, he had an indescribable lust to have the same feeling he did that day. That no matter who was before him, he could kill. He could without mercy end the lives of anyone, Ghoul or Human, that lied before him. Claude ran away from his home, and went on a ravenous spree, killing and eating several humans. At this young teen age, he used his name (and his dad's credit card) to buy out a flower shop, and for the past 8 years, that is where he has remained, under the disguise of a sweet, innocent, flower boy.​

Weapon: Kazeyomi - an Ukaku-type Quinque that looks suspiciously similar to a parasol. Can be used primarily to execute several rapid slashes in succession, and is built to work well with Sawa's smallish build. As it is built for speed, it does not deal much damage, and, to her parents' dismay, cannot be used for defense. She is one of the few Rank 3 Investigators allowed to use a Quinque, thought this has more to do with her parents influence than anything else.

Backstory: As the daughter of two Ghoul Investigators, Sawa's future as a Ghoul Investigator was always set in stone. Even as a child, her parents spoke to her about their cases in great detail to ensure that she knew the truth about ghouls and what they were capable of. As a result, she grew up with an intense fear of ghouls, not unlike most other humans. Growing up in the 1st Ward kept her from coming into direct contact with ghouls for most of her life, and she was grateful for it.

But the summer before her appointment as an Investigator changed everything.

On her way back home from a friend's house one evening, she noticed a hooded figure standing in the street. Curious, she continued to observe them until they noticed her presence and turned around. Almost instantly, she caught a flash of crimson irises underneath their hood. But before she could react, the figure simply nodded in her direction. A moment later, a pair of full-fledged Ghoul Investigators dashed into the area, and the figure fled with a brief wave in her direction. All she saw before they disappeared was a long tendril stretching out behind them, almost like a tail.

Since the incident, Sawa began to question all that she knew about ghouls. She had been told that they would kill on sight, and yet, that evening, she had been spared. Her curiosity getting the better of her, Sawa began to research ghouls and ghoul types, citing her reasons as "purely academic". After recently joining the CCG as a Rank 3 Investigator, Sawa continues to pursue her interest in ghouls, and hopes to do so further once she is allowed onto the field.

Rinkaku-type Kagune. Clause's Rinkaku takes the form 6 deep red tentacles sprouting from his back. The 6 tentacles seem amorphous everywhere but the end, where they are tipped in harpoon-like spears. He has a very unique use for these tentacles, on more than one occasion he has used them as a mode of transportation, lifting himself off the ground and using 4 of the tentacles as legs. The other two being used as a pair of weapons. In this stance, he tends to tire out faster, however, he is much, MUCH more mobile. Stabbing into walls and ceilings as well as walking on the ground.

Backstory:
Clause's parents were both Ghouls. He grew up in the suburbs of a city and was fed whatever his parent's had hunted for. He grew up showing he was a very fast learner and learned of his Kagune and how to use it quickly. Clause soon began joining his parents on their hunts. they would go out into the countryside, bringing a cooler and other supplies. They would then find a small town and pick a specific target. They would stalk the target all day, and eventually, they would strike, taking them. Of course, they would also take the family as well, can't have them reporting a missing child and a search ensueing. If the whole family disappears, people will assume vacation or that they moved. Clause's home life was similar in fashion to their hunts as well. It was always buisness, never any time to goof around. This is why Clause developed himself to actually be very charismatic. He didn't get to be free while at home, so he would be very free outside of it.​
