To Kill a Mocking God

Before I get your hopes up, no this RP is in no way related to the book "To Kill a Mockingbird". I just thought it sounded pretty good as a title. Additionally, please be loyal to the RP. I don't think I've ever been in one that ever finished. Don't for one second think you'll get of lightly if you start on the IC then leave without word.

So, a little introduction to the world: As it happens, the Christians were wrong about there being a "creator god". On the other hand, they were pretty close when they suggested some of their other ideas - angels, demons, heaven, hell. Even the Four horsemen and the Seven Seals of the Apocalypse. But, the Buddhists were way closer, with their concept of 31 realms. But then again, they were quite wrong too. There are in actuality, 174 parallel universes, including the one Mortal Realm, inhabited by Humans, among other things. After that, there is 1 infernal realm - Naraku - which is suspected to be from where Christians draw their concept of Hell. This is almost an exact mirror of the Mortal Realm, however, the stars burn black and the sky blazes red and the only conscious creatures - Ensouled - that reside there are the demons.

Opposite Naraku is the Golden Land - from where Christians draw the concept of Heaven. Again this mirrors the Mortal Realm, except that everybody who lives there is a god - or a Kami, to use the official term. They are not eternal and die and are reborn just like mortals and demons and every other ensouled, but they are masters of the manipulation of existence and have forged the perfect world where they live out their lives in peace. The other 171 realms are mainly abandoned worlds. They are battlefields long lost where the war between Kami and Demon raged for eons. Some of them still play host to ensouled inhabitants, though, only 2 of these realms still have significance. The first, the Titan world, is hidden. No one can access it from outside and it is rumoured that the Titan species still lives inside it, surviving on what power of existence still remains. The other is the Shadow realm - the world of the spirits. This also is protected, however, has a constant flow of power of existence and is the destination of all souls. Here, they live out one last month before being channelled through the Font of Souls to be reborn in a new world. Almost 90% are reborn as mortals of varying description. The rest are reborn either as Titans, Demons or Kami. If a body that would become the vessel for a soul is destroyed before it can be inhabited, such as in the case of abortion, the spirit simply hangs around for a couple of hours, after which it finds a new embryo of the same species to attempt to be reborn in.

Now, onto the War. The war raged for eons. Entire universes were born, burnt out and were reborn across all realms, and still the war showed no sign of ending. The Demons and the warrior class of the Kami - the Angels - fought endlessly, ravaging countless planets and annihilating countless species in the process, but the war was at an endless stalemate. Then, one day, a Demon of incredible power joined forces with 4 Kami of the Warrior Class, to form the Seven Seals and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. The Demon sacrificed it's mortal form and bestowed it's spirit into a stone vessel in the Void - the space that lies inbetween the realms, stopping them from naturally merging. The first Angel sacrificed their ability to be reborn and assumed the form of the first Horseman - Conquest. He forged a legendary bow which had the power to bestow greed and recklessness in a target. The second Angel sacrificed the same ability and became the second Horseman - War. He forged a legendary sword which was able to call forth the souls of everything queuing in the Shadow Realm to fight battles on whichever side War chose. The third Angel became the third Horseman - Fury (not Famine as Christian lore would have it, because everyone knows that weighing scales would be useless in a fight) - however instead of forging a weapon, she forged a new body and adopted some strange form that combined the grace and divinity of an Angel and the power and savagery of a Demon. Her weapon of choice was an immaterial whip which was capable of passing through from one realm to another to kill without her needing to even leave her house. She became the assassin of the Horsemen. The forth Horseman - Death - was the one most feared. He had been an Angel for as long as anyone could remember. He had never undertaken the rebirth process either. Instead, he was responsible for initiating the rebirth program in souls, and was capable of preventing a soul from being reborn, and even destroying it all together - a happening that not even the highest of the Kami rank could do. With his legendary scythe, he dominated the battlefields, tearing dozens of souls from their hosts with every swing.

Unfortunately, for reasons unknown to anyone, the seals were never broken, and the horsemen never summoned when the Angels decided to break the truce and attack the demons after millenia of waiting. As a result, the generally weaker and less technologically advanced demons were routed from every outpost by the surprise attack, until just one realm - Xanadu - stood between the Angels and the gates of Naraku. At this point, someone finally saw fit to summon the horsemen. It was already too late. The angels were too numerous and using technology capable of physically sealing a realm, just like what the Titans did, so all the horsemen were able to do was prevent further Angel forces from reinforcing those on Xanadu. Outnumbered 3 to 1 in a universe that holds no life beyond the one planet eponymous with the realm, the demons stood and fought. Barely 2 millenia had passed since the Humans in the Mortal realm had discovered a messenger of the truce that had been sent to all realms, and that was all it took for the angels to get bored.

So where does this roleplay come in? Well. You, along with your fellow roleplayers, are among the few demons assigned the role of defending Xanadu from the waves of Angels. You may be any kind of demon. You may have lived for an eon, maybe just a week. You may resemble a human, you may resemble a grotesque slime monster from the deepest abysses of the Shadow Realm. You may be as powerful as a Prince, or as weak and insignificant as a lesser drone of genericness, but you all share common ground. You believe you are doomed and that it is only a matter of time before the Angels break through the walls of your magical fortress. That's right. The angels are the bad guys this time.

Rules:
1. I don't care if you're the Dark Prince who has lived for 60 lifetimes, who annihilated the natives of 40 realms: In this RP, you shall not be caught Powergaming, Metagaming or using God Mode, lest you wish to face the wrath of a certain Game Master.
2. That little thing under the title said Anime Physics. What it really means by that, at least in this RP, is that if your character has a human appearance, I would appreciate it if you could use an anime image or a description, rather than a photo or another kind of artwork. In addition, just like all anime characters, living things in this world have way too much blood in them that enjoys bursting out of their hosts at a moments notice. Also, don't be afraid of having illogical weapons. 12 foot long greatswords are just part of the fun :D
3. You must be a Demon or a powerful Shadow Realm Denizen that is possessing a form that had been abandoned by its previous soul and is currently fighting to stop the angels.
4. If you're going to use names, try to keep them either in Latin style or Japanese style. Also unless they have earned a title, no silly last names like "Shinigami, Reaper, Angelbane,". I don't want to see any "Sarah Deathtouch"s, "Stephen Fredericks"s or "Tutankhamen"s.

Remember that despite them being demons, most of them reside within Naraku and live as simple merchants, farmers, businessmen, peacekeepers - anything except for firemen, who naturally aren't something with a high demand in the infernal realm. Remember that magic is abundant in Naraku and all realms but the mortal realm, so technological development was somewhat reduntant. That means no games consoles or mobile telephones for you, though, something along the same lines would have been created that used magic instead.)

  Prior to Shiko's current incarnation, she was a human in the Mortal World. Then, like all mortals, she died. Then, she encountered the Shadow Realm. At this point, someone calling themselves the "Infernal Exalt" happened to stop by, and recognise her soul. She didn't recognise the Exalt of course, having no memory of being her friend in a past life. She was taken to a small, owl-like creature in a small area of an abandoned world, where she had her original power returned to her. Her subconscious memory, having remembered her previous lives, granted her instant recognition of her powers, and exactly how to wield them, though, she never remembered her actual life, only her instincts. At this point, she realised she would probably need a physical form in order to wield her weapons. She was taken to the capital city of Naraku and given a chamber in the Maelstrom Citadel - the fortress from which the Exalt ruled and announced to the public as the daughter of the exalt. She was found a spare body too. And by spare, I mean that the Exalt had the soul removed from a captured Angel Prince, and her own soul was allowed to possess the body. She didn't like the weight and burden of so much material, so she spent a couple of weeks using her power to transform the body into something more to her liking - as shown in the image above. She spent the next 4 Demon Years (that is roughly 48 human years, but still feels like just 4 years) earning her titles by night and being the princess of Naraku by day. Naturally, she's somewhat sleep deprived quite often.

  Her lance - a legendary item forged from the empty bodies of 42 fallen ensouled, and the souls of 13 Demon, Angel and Titan lords. It was named "Tempest", after Shiko had conversed with the Merged Spirit inside it and discovered that it really liked how that word sounded. When in use, a second, aetherial blade that is significantly longer and slightly wider encases the normal blade. As such, it can be used as either a jabby weapon or a slicing weapon for long range attacks or close range stabbings. It is also capable of wielding itself to some extent, so Shiko often uses it to keep creatures at bay while she focuses on a single enemy.
  
  Her primary weapon - Whirlwind Talons. She conjures aetherial claws upon her forearms and hands, while considerably boosting her physical strength and already supreme speed. This allows her to strike a foe many times before they get a chance to respond, which is often enough to kill them completely. In addition, she gains small wings made of the same crimson aetherial material, which allow her to float in the air, meaning she can sustain her unbeatable manoeuvrability, and dash across the field like a faerie, avoiding strikes and dealing them milliseconds after, just like a hack 'n' slash on easy mode.

  It is always possible to tell which corpses she created after a battle by simply looking for the ones whose heart is floating in an aetherial crimson cage above the body. Each one of these acts as a sort of blood font. If her or another vampiric life form comes close they can use it to easily channel the corpse's remaining blood into their own vessels to fight off bloodlust, or to use to repair their body at a heightened speed. She is however, not a vampire, she simply adopted the blood magic technique of the vampire class of demon, which comes with the side effect of the bloodlust.

Well, I got to where I am from regular practice. The more you write, the more you come across common issues in your writing style that you can correct. The first RPs I was ever in, I was making characters with about 3 lines of backstory, and very generic personalities. My posts were usually only about a paragraph too. I've only been RPing for maybe a year and a half, but my skill has easily tripled in that time.

  Berserker (Among the Three Realm) Kurosaki given this title after Rampaging in a Planet that now become uninhabited planet because the damages it took from his halberd. after three day and three night slaughtering the entire planet, Kurosaki didn't leave a single soul alive in those planet even his own kind. thus he called Berserker by either demon or angel that meet him in battlefield and most of them pray that they didn't meet him in battle.

  Kurosaki was an child from planet 'Eleanor' that become sea of flames by the raging war between angels and demons. 'Eleanor' was home planet of the ancient fighting clan 'Exodus' before it destroyed by the invasion of Angels. at the first time 'Exodus' could repelled their invasion easily. however the next wave the battle become harder and harder. The angels army began to sent Archangel class warrior that even remove entire town alone if they wanted it. Day after day they fought bravely against those terrifying Army. the 'Exodus' clan didn't have the word surrender in their heart leaving and leaving only a bunch of Warrior left. when the both side reached their limit the angels quickly annihilated by newly arrived demons who interfered the battle. the 'Exodus' thought that the demons also wanted their land and attacked them despite their overwhelming numbers. at the very last the 'Exodus' clan gone extinct and the General who lead the demons army took the still child Kurosaki and made him his own child.​

  Main weapon:
  Heaven Halberd was her name before Kurosaki took her from the Archangel Class that wield this halberd. this weapon become corrupted and turned her color from shining golden to black after it drenched with Kurosaki's blood, thus he changed her name to 'The Devourer'. Heaven Halberd considered one of the most powerful Relic that can even split a tiny planet into dust when used. those archangel Kurosaki killed was one of six Archangel that leading the invasion army that slaughtered his entire clan when he was still a Child. but will his revenge can be satisfied after killed 5 other angel? we didn't know.

  Demonic Ascension - Kurosaki Let his demonic blood controling himself, make him lose his control over his own body. This skill Raising his power and speed toward the limit and make him a supreme killing machine that will slaughter anyone or anything that stand on his path. The very first time he using this skill make him rampaging on a planet that now become uninhibited for three day and three night nonstop. thus he called Berserker by those who witnessing the scene that day.
  
  Unique Trait:
  After the Demonic Ascension effect wear off Kurosaki fell into deep slumber for an entire day (24 Hour), rendering himself vulnerable for attack even killed. on his left arm there is a tattoo shown a number on how many he used Demonic Ascension skill. when those number reached the limit he has, he will totally lost control of his body and won't stop rampaging unless killed by the other.

@Alucard the humans are a race unique to the one Mortal Plane. A realm that cannot be entered by demon or angel, unless summoned by human priests. Unfortunately, humans do not have any priests capable of summoning either because humans do not know enough about the Immortal Planes to do so. Ergo, your homeplanet could not have been invaded if you were a human. Also, there isn't a "god" as such. There is no deity being with complete power. People with power levels similar to gods exist, but no actual gods.

so changing my background race into an Elf or another mortal except human who lack the knowledge to summon either side considered enough isn't it?

As explained, if you took the time to read the first paragraphs of the OP, the Christians were wrong with their concept of a single heaven etc, and it was really closer to the buddhist view of what that is. The buddhists have 31 planes in total, and 6 states of reincarnation. The first and lowest plane is called "Naraku" (however there are seven further realms of Naraku). Next there is the animal plane, which is literally just the part of the mortal plane that belongs to the animals. Next there is the spirit plane. You go there, then you're a ghost. You appear human and think in that way, but can't interact with anything other than other ghosts. Next there is the human level. Then there is the titan level. Titans are kind of the buddhist equivelant of demi-gods. Then there are 26 levels of "heaven". anyone in there is called a god, but really just lives like a human would except with a nicer environment and small amounts of magic. To understand this one must understand the concept of karma. Contrary to popular belief, karma is not the idea that "oh last week he ran over a cat so he had it coming". Karma is the total build up of positive and negative actions throughout a life time. When you die, this karma is looked at, and you are reborn to a certain plane according to what your karma is. If you have particularly bad karma, you are sent to one of the realms of Naraku. Particularly good gets you sent to one of the realms of heaven. You remain in that plane until you have exhausted your karma. Effectively, until it has become a value that stops you being in that plane. After a while, you will stop being in Naraku and move up the the animal plane. At this point I notice that I am ranting excessively so i'm going to stop...

OK: There are the demons, which are just another species, just like human might be. There are the kami, who are just another species, just like humans might be. Except that the humans live in a plane that is warded by the sentient being known as the Void that serves to seperate the planes. The human plane has a barrier around it that means it cannot be accessed from the outside. Someone on the inside must reach out through the barrier and physically pull you through with magic. Hence why you have to be summoned into that plane. The Angels is just a name given to the warrior force of the Kami. Just like the japanese had their samurai and ashigaru, and the british had their knights and soldiers. Angels, just like demons, have endless forms to select from. Some may have 8 legs and a giant scorpion tail. Some may look like bald eagles except with 4 wings. There is no creator god. The planes of existence developed naturally, and it just so happened that the two main immortal races, demons and kami, had access to magic and therefore could cross into other planes. Given there are a vast number of planes, you could be of any race and any plane originally. I'm just going to say though, that relic weapons would require a very powerful presence to even lift them. You'd have had to be a demon for quite some time. While there is a heirarchy among both the demons and the angels, it is again just names. Just like a human military soldier might be named General if they were particularly good at strategy.

Done editing... the Relic idea was still a mystery even for me. However the Archangel didn't leave me any choice but to think how those high level Angel fight without good weapon or even Artifact of some kind. but if it's didn't suit you i will re-edit my CS..

Name: Rikuo Amura

Title, if any: The Last Reaper (All realms), he was given that title for the fact that he is one of the last people to use a Scythe and also for the fact that he would reap the lives of his victims with such silence and grace that it became his title.

Age: 23, for his 18th lifespan.

Personality: He seems dark and brooding at first, but then turns out to be nice and kind of silly. He typically looks for the fastest way out of a situation and often enjoys using violence.

Gender: Male

Height: 6'2"

Reputation: He is know for being a well trained assassin that used to take jobs, but wanted to fight in the war after awhile.

Short Biography: He started his training at a young age, trained by a Master Assassin by the name of Ryun. Thanks to his training he was set up for his job, which was killing others professionally. He didn't get a lot of business, but just enough to get by. He eventually got bored with the assassin business and joined the war in hopes of getting to fight more often.

Main skill(s): Shadow Slash; This sends a spinning blade of shadows in the direction that he slashed.
 
Spinning Slash; The blade extends and is spun at an incredible speed that if let go, the blade would launch with such a velocity that it could imbed itself in a 2' thick wall of steel.

  Age: Extremely ancient, and one of the few who allegedly had never been reincarnated and witnessed Lucifer's fall.
  
  Personality: Kuze is one of the oldest demons that are still alive. Wise, quiet and reserved, these are but some of the qualities that stood out most. However, he is also known to be one of the most cold-hearted killers in Naraku. Unlike other demons, he secretly yearned to enter into the cycle of reincarnation so that perhaps he could live and experience life as another being.
  
  Gender: Genderless, though prefers the masculine pronoun.
  
  Height: Average, about 170cm in height.
  
  Reputation: Kuze is known as a knowledgeable arcane scholar among the younger generation of both demons and kamis, though the old ones know only too well what he truly is. Among the older demons and angels, he is known as a butcher, a killer, an abomination.
  
  Short Biography: Even the Ancient One himself couldn't remember the first memory that he had. All he could remember was that once, the universe was nothing. He was alone, walking the barren earth of some desolated world. The sun was scorching as it dominated the skies, and the night was frigid when the moon rose. Was he among the first of those who walked with a spirit, or was he the last of them? He couldn't remember, memories back then that were crystal clear were now blurred, shadows of a world now forgotten. Regardless, he died, and his spirit remains. The great sorrow and anguish within him made him stayed in the form of a spirit, unable to be reincarnated for as long as he couldn't cleanse himself of his anger. For many aeons, he slithered in the shadows, watching the multiverse with green eyes of envy. He yearned to join their society, but he was shunned by both demons and kamis alike. So he continued to stay and observe in the darkness.
  
  The Ancient One, who had no name at that time, was eventually detected by a small flock of angels who thought it was a good idea to hunt down this lone demon that lingered in the vastness of the shadow plane. He consumed the host of angels, and thought it would be possible to observe and join the world as one of the demons (since he would be found out almost immediately by the kamis of his true nature). He proceed to digest the angels while leaving the strongest of the host alive, expel the soul and then possessed the body in order to masquerade as a demon. However, his first experiment failed as the body exploded into shreds as it couldn't contain the raw power that he had. The Ancient One tried for aeons as he lured and captured angel after angel, failing each time. However, when he came across a wounded eight-winged humanoid angel, he ceased the opportunity and executed an all-out assault. Even with the wounds he suffered, the angel repelled the Ancient One's attack with fervour, strengthening the Ancient One's will in obtaining such a specimen. The victory belonged to the Ancient One as it finally consumed the angel's body, and he was overjoyed that the angel's body was strong enough to contain it without exploding.
  
  The Ancient One had since then expanded the body's capacity into something more powerful, something more… humanoid. It didn't took long, but The Ancient One eventually introduced himself to the demon's society and had fought by their side since then, claiming the name Kuze and portrayed himself as an arcane scholar, a sorcerer that had an innate love for arcane and eldritch knowledge. He had been instrumental in more than one wars against the angels both as a sorcerer and a warrior, but his powers were severely limited because of the maximum capacity of his host despite his 'upgrades.' As the final war approached, he mused that if his true form would finally be revealed… and if his demons allies would accept him as he was. However, he would need to retrieve another stronger body soon if he were to stay in the fight. Then again, a body that was stronger than a "Prince among Angels"?

  Arcane Crafts and Knowledge – Kuze is perhaps one of the multiverse's best Arcane Scholar, though his love to hide those knowledge in that head of his certainly didn't help anyone. However, his knowledge and skills in everything Arcane was something that many desired on their side in times of stress.
  
  Eldritch Sorcery – Unlike demons and kamis who wield magic that requires somatic and/or verbal components, Kuze's ability in using magic far surpasses even the most talented of them all and is capable of bringing forth destruction of apocalyptic proportions (pun intended). Why? Because he was born from the very essence of the leftover darkness, and he powers his magic with his own eldritch essence. He called his own brand of magic "Eldritch Sorcery", paying homage to his own roots as an abomination of shadows and darkness.
  
  Telekinesis – Kuze has the natural ability to employ powerful telekinesis against his enemies, constraining them, flinging them or crushing them. He can target a whole host of angels if he has too.
  
  Telepathy (One-Way) – What can a monster without a form (thus, with no vocal cords) do when he wishes to speak? Telepathy! Kuze is capable of freely speaking to minds of others through one-way telepathy by sending words, emotions and images. However, he cannot read other people's mind, mind wipes or any of those [slash]fancy[/slash] advance skills. He can, however, sending a "command" to forcefully coerce a subject through force or making someone mad by frequently whispering into his brain.
  
  
  Unique Trait(s):
  Eldritch Form – Kuze's true form is a smoke-like darkness – weightless, denseless, formless. It is impossible to damage him with physical weapons, and even magics and energy weapons do him little harm. However, his true form is decidedly weak against the magic cast from one with a pure heart. Despite this, shedding his angel body means that he is free to use his abilities to his maximum potential. In this form, all his abilities reaches their true height.

OK I would like to get one thing clear: THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BIBLE. THERE IS NO LUCIFER THE FALLEN ANGEL. Now, one other thing @Pinewoodpine. I'm fine with you being some kind of archaic spirit that's possessing a mortal form, but you didn't exist before the creation of the planes of existence. Neither did you exist to watch the evolution of the planes. In order to be a spirit, you must have been a mortal at some point first. The only exception to this rule is The Void, which you obviously can't be.

Oh, sorry. I just automatically assumed the Dark Lord Lucifer referred to Fallen Angel Lucifer. My bad.

Expanded his bio. The idea was basically making him one of the oldest spirits that existed after the world was created. And when I meant change, I really meant 'populated'. I made that clear this time and expanded his bio a bit, and made his motivation make slightly more sense.

However, I didn't realize about spirits needed to be mortal first. I thought this is a case of "clap your hands if you believe" kind of creation. Anyway, this part of the bio changed.
