To Catch A Killer

Natalie has been driving for what seems like hours. She has drove already over 50 miles. There is nothing but wilderness. She sighs as she looks out the window, she is heading to St. Quinton's Maximum Security Prison. A brown sign finally pops up, St. Quinton's Maximum Security 10 miles. At least she didn't have far to go. But to her it felt like it would take an eternity to get there.

She finally arrives at the prison. She pulls up to a guard's booth outside the prison walls. A man comes out and walks up to her car, she winds down the window. "Ma'am can I see your driver liscense? As well as a pass to go into the prison. I need papers from your work, if they sent you here." Natalie pulls out her driver liscense, she roots around in her work bag for a pass that her work gave her, after five minutes she finally finds it. And then she has to find the papers which would take even longer. It takes her about ten minutes to find her papers or at least the right ones. Note to self: Organize work bag. She thinks and hands the papers to the guard.

She watches as the guard goes back to the booth. Five minutes later the guard comes back to her car and hands her the papers, pass and driver liscense. "You may go on in." Then he gets on his walkie talkie and talks to another guard. The gate opens and she drives through. She has a feeling she will need the pass, liscense and papers again. She is stopped by another guard at another booth. He asks the same thing as the first one and she hands him the items. He too goes back to the booth, five minutes later he returns to her car. "You may go on, you have one more gate to get through." He says and returns to his booth.

The next guard is a woman, she comes up to the guard and asks the same thing. Natalie hands her the items and she goes back to the booth. Five minutes later she comes to the car. "You're clear. Now go to the parking lot to the right and park on the end. I'll radio some one to come get you." She gets on her walkie talkie and then goes back to her booth still talking on the walkie talkie. Natalie drives through and does as she is told

Orion had spent his day like he usually did, in solitary confinement. Locked away with no one to talk to he sat alone with his thoughts. Bored out of his mind as he did whatever he could to distract himself-pushups, meditate, punch a wall, scratch at the wall-until he was tugging at his hair in frustration and growling. He didn't bother talking to the guards, they were no fun.

Red eyes narrowed at the door, before a smirk curled along Orion's lips as a not so bright idea came to him, bringing his foot back the demon gave it a hard kick-he wanted a reaction from those on the other side. Something to cure his boredom and amuse him for the moment.

This gets the guards attention. They don't have guns instead the weapon they have is more like a cattle prod with high voltage. "Settle down in there. Don't force us to come in there and straighten you up." A guard says. He pounds on the door with the cattle prod like object as a warning. Then they go back to being on guard. Natalie sighs waiting outside the prison. A short chubby man with a balding head comes up to her. "Can I see your I.D. please? And your papers?" She nods and hands him both. He looks at them and hands them back to her. "Please follow me." He turns and walks toward the prison. She simply nods and follows after him. They enter the prison. All is quiet and they're in the office part of the prison. "You'll have to see Warden Haze for you assignment. Follow me." Natalie nods again and follows the man.

They get into an elevator and go up to the fourth floor. She sees the first door on the right and it says Warden Haze on it in black bold letters. The chubby man goes into the office. He then comes out and motions her to enter the room. She does so. Sitting behind a large wooden desk is a tall man with graying hair and a graying mustache. He is dressed in a black suit with a white shirt and blue tie. She instantly hands him the papers. He looks them over and then looks at her. "I believe I have the perfect candidate for this assignment." He lifts up the receiver of a phone and hits the zero button. "Hello operator this is Warden Haze. Get me Sector Six." He is on hold for a few moments. "Hello. Yes this is Warden Haze. I have a young lady with an assignment. I have the perfect candidate for her. Put Prisoner 1345B67 in the holding cell. Yes that's right Prisoner 1345B67. Alright I'll send her down." He then hangs up.

He looks at the chubby man. "Take her to Sector Six her assignment will be waiting there." The chubby man nods. He goes to leave with Natalie behind him. "So what's Sector Six?" The chubby man looks at her as they walk. "Solitary Confinement." Natalie nods. "And what is the prisoner's name that I will be working with?" "His name is Orion."

Orion simply laughed, for a good minute, before sittting on the floor.

"Come now, you expect me to just be bored and do nothing about it? Though, that almost tempts me to try harder." he scoffed, before quieting for a moment. As bored as he was, he didn't feel like getting shocked today. Closing his eyes, he fell back on the floor with a thump, listening to his own breathing for a while, and almost fell asleep. The nap lasted a short while, until he picked up what he thought was movement outside of what he calls his special box.

Red eyes opening and staring at the grey ceiling, before he sat up and stared at the door curiously. It wasn't time to eat, at least Orion didn't think it was, he wasn't hungry anyway.

Maybe he was just imagining things, his hearing wasn't what it used to be.

The guards get the order to Orion in the holding cell. They open the door to his cell and cautiously enter it. They have the cattle prod like objects out and ready just in case he gives them a hard time. "You're getting your wish. You're getting out of this cell. Well for a little while anyway." Guards being guards do things roughly. They force him to stand and then put restraints on him. Ones that were demon proof. "You be a good little demon and maybe just maybe after your service you can get out of solitary." Another guard says as they walk down the hall. They put him in the holding cell. A cell with clear plastic walls. And cameras in just about ever part of the cell's ceiling. They restrain him there with chains that were also demon proof. There was a bench for him to sit on. And just out of arms reach there is a chair for someone to sit in.

Natalie walks down the hall with the chubby man. She knows what type of prison this is since she was the one to suggest going here. She dared not to look at the other prisoners as they walked. Most of them were commenting the word "Human" or "Pretty human." The chubby man looks at her. "You're doing the right thing by not looking at them. It only provokes some of them." She nods and keeps her eyes straight a head. They finally reach Sector Six. The chubby man slides his badge through the scanner and the door unlocks. He motions her to follow after him. She does so. He leads her into an office like room. She is given one of those cattle prod like objects.

"Don't be afraid to use it if anything happens. Got it?" Natalie nods. "And see those monitors?" He points to several computer monitors on the back wall. She nods. "If things get too out of hand where the cattle prod just won't cut it yell help and the guards will come in." She nods again feeling rather nervous. Not knowing what to expect. She then is lead down the hall to the clear cell. Which is only half lit up. One of the guards outside the cell unlocks it and she enters now feel scared instead of nervous because she knows that she is in a small room with a demon. She stands at the entrance and takes a few deep breaths trying to calm herself down. Then she walks over to the chair. She sits down only to see to red eyes staring at her.

Now she needs to state why she is here and hopes that the demon will comply with her. She takes another deep breath. She remembers what the chubby man said about the demon's name. She sighs. "Orion….the reason you are in this cell is because I need your help…..." That's all she says hoping that this will entice the demon's attention.

Orion snarled and snapped his teeth at the guard as he was talked to like he was some form of pet that needed to behave, though he settled down a bit at the thought of getting out of solitary at least. Glaring down at his restraints, he gave them a tug, if they had been normal he could of broken them. Once they started moving he kept his gaze straight and a frown on his face.

Being escorted to the holding cell and chained down he took a seat on the bench, red eyes scanning the room, until a woman entered. Red eyes giving a weak glow as he kept his eyes locked on her, Orion didn't move a single muscle as he sized her up, wondering what was even going on.

When she stated that she needed his help he laughed. It didn't last long, but a look of disbelief came across his features.

"You want my help? What exactly does a human need a demon's help for?" he asked mockingly, though he was genuinely curious as he watched for her reaction with a raised brow.

She didn't expect him to laugh at her. She gets a discouraged look on her face. And then it changes when he asks why a human would want a demon's help. She sits there thinking about how to word it. She dared not get any closer in fear that he may attack her even though he is chained to the wall. She then pulls out something from her bag. It's a yellow folder. She then simply slides it across the room so he can see what's in it. She hopes he will look at it. "That's why I need your help. Well part of it anyways." She watches him as she sits there trying not to shake with nervousness. She watches as he just stares at her. "Well aren't you curious on why I need your help?" She is trying to entice him to open the folder so he can see the gruesome pictures of murder victims. Ones that a demon had killed.

She sighs. "Fine if you must know why I need you help. It's because I need to solve several murders. We've come to the point that a demon has done it. And we need to catch this demon before it kills again. So why not go to the source? I need your help to catch this demon. I need to think like it." She says trying to explain the best she can. "In that folder is evidence that it's a demon. If you don't believe me then open it and look at it. Look at those photos."

A look of interest crossed Orion's face when dhe slid the folder to him, but didn't move to open it right away. After explaining what she needed of him, he glanced down at the folder before picking it up and taking a look at the photos inside.

Studying each photo carefully, a small grin grew on his face that showed off his sharp canines.

"A demon eh? You want to think like a demon?" he chuckled, looking up from the photos momentarily to look at Natalie.

"Humans are funny." he said before looking back down at the photos in his hand. Observing them as well as anything else of interest.

"There wasn't a ouija board involved now, was there?" he asked sarcastically, not bothering to look up from the pictures.

Natalie sighs at how sarcastic he was being. She never worked with a demon so she doesn't know how it's going to go. She looks at him. "Why do you think that humans have to use a Ouija board involved. You should know since you are a demon that there are many ways to summon one." She sits there thinking. "And who knows this demon could have already been here and got bored. That's when it started to kill." She sits there thinking again as well as hoping and praying that when she says the next thing he will agree. She looks at him. "So will you help me then? It'll help you if you help me if you know what I mean."

She hopes this entices him to help her. She sighs again sitting there. She still can't believe that she is sitting across from a real demon. But she knows that he can kill her if he wanted to or at least hurt her. "So will you take my offer then?"

Orion sighed, the slight smirk he had falling at her mostly rhetorical question. He had a feeling that this woman wasn't going to be all that fun.

"I was pretty much joking." he retorted, glancing up from the pictures. "The demon could of been bored, or had some bloodlust that they had been trying to hold back for some time." he offered thoughtfully.

At her question of him helping her, he nodded. "Sure, I'm interested in this other demon." he replied. He was very curious about it, and wondered why exactly they felt the need to kill.

Natalie looks at him and sighs with relief. "Alright good. If you behave yourself it might help your sentence plus getting out a solitary." She sits there as though she is thinking. She didn't know what to say to him. What do you say to a demon anyways? Especially when you're face to face with one practically. She supposes that she can give the demon her name since he isn't so far too bad for a demon. "Since I know your name I should give you mine. My name is Natalie Smith." She then pulls out a badge from her bag and slides it across the room for him to see to prove that she is a police officer. She's trying to gain his trust the best she can. She hopes eventually that she will gain his trust and in return if there's no funny business she will learn to trust him. "Since there are many killings and probably more to come. I'll be having an hour talk session with you every day pretty much until we catch this demon." A guard comes in and takes the file of photos and her badge and gives it back to her once he is done looking at them. She tucks both in her bag.

"So where shall we begin then? Maybe we should get to know one another a little more. How old are you? I hear demons can live a long time. Are you an old demon or still a young one? And what did you do to get yourself in St. Quinton's in the first place?" Then she is silent hoping he will answer her questions.

"I figured it'd help my sentence." Orion responded. Between what the guard said and this entire situation so far, he could only assume she was involved with the law somehow. He was pleased to find that he had been right in assuming that, and glanced at the badge she slid towards him before glancing back up at her.

"I guess you could say I'm pretty young for a demon. As for how I got in here, well, I tore someone apart." he said nonchalantly.

"Why not tell me more about yourself, cop lady?" he offered, not bothering to look away as his eyes locked onto hers.

Natalie looks at him. What can she say to describe herself to a demon? She sits there thinking about it. "Well I'm unmarried. I have a cat and I'm twenty six years old. I've been a cop for three or four years." She then looks at him. "Now that you know a little about me let's get on to the questions about this other demon okay?" She can feel his eyes on her again. Now she has to come up with some good questions to ask him. This part will be a little harder for her. Then she finally thinks of a question. "So let me get into the mind of a demon. So what is the main reason that a demon has the urge to kill? Is the urge to kill because of a strong blood lust or something else?" She looks at him letting that sink in.

"Demons have a strong blood lust, and depending on the demon some can control it better than others, along with their blood lust could be other reasons for killing-the thrill, cause they're bored, it makes them happy, things like that added onto it, but blood lust is the major and main one." he did his best to explain, a gleam in his eyes. He was a little excited to share this information and it showed.

He was almost giddy as he told her this, remembering what he did to end up in St. Quinton's out of blood lust and anger. He couldn't remember why he was angry, but it didn't matter anymore to him.

Natalie nods and jots that down in a notebook. She can tell that he is excited to give that information out and wonders why. And before she knows it she is asking it. "I notice that your actually excited to give that information out. Why?" She then sits there and thinks about another question to ask him before her time was up with him. Since it was their first meeting it will be a little longer than usual. Now that she has why most of the way she needs to know more things about this demon. "Okay since you said it's mainly blood lust that drives demons. Then based on the pictures could you tell what age the demon is or if it's female or male? Those are things we need to find out." She looks at her cellphone clock and looks at him. "After those two questions my time with you right now for today is over then I shall see you tomorrow then." She sits there looking at him very curiously wondering what he will say about the other questions.

"Why? Because just thinking about the bloodlust us demons have is exciting." he replied, before listening to her next questions, he took a moment to ponder those, the pictures fresh in his mind. A thoughtful look came across his face as he leaned back, head resting against the wall and eyes closing momentarily.

"At least 1,000 years old, most likely female. Doesn't seem as brutish as, say, something I would do, which would have a lot of unidentified rage attached." he responded. Opening his eyes once more he looked at her, a bit calmer than before, yet his mouth was twisted in a smirk-almost like he was trying not to and failing.

With their session coming to a close, he was sure he would quickly grow bored again.

Natalie nods and jots that down in a notebook as well. She then gets up smoothing out her pantsuit. "Well Orion it's been a pleasure meeting you. I'll be seeing you tomorrow to ask more questions since our session for today is over." She then taps on the door and the guards let her out. She goes into the office once the door is shut behind her and locked. She hands over the cattle prod like object and follows the chubby little man out of the area. She sighs as she goes to her car. She looks at the notes that she has made and then drives off going back to the precinct to put this in her report. She knows that she will be working late again. But that's her life. After all it's just her with two cats in her apartment anyways. She goes into the precinct and sits at her desk. She sighs and pulls out a rather thick file and begins to fill out a form that she pulls from her desk.

A balding man with a black suit and red tie comes up to her. It's her boss. "Have you gotten anywhere?" He asks with hope in his tone. She nods. "Yes. Some. He says that the demon is female and around 1,000 years old. And that it's acting on blood lust. That's all I have for now. I'm putting it in my report now." The man nods. "After that go home and relax. You've earned it." She nods and watches as he walks away leaving her alone with her work.

"Can't wait for another session." Orion chuckled, watching her go. In the meantime, je was sure that he would end up back in the hole until he would meet the blonde detective again to continue the session. Maybe he'd eventually be moved out of solitary before the case ended? Wouldn't that be nice. Shaking his head with another chuckle the demon rose from his current seat and gave the chains a tug, hard enough to make the chains grow taut for a second, before he calmed himself and relaxed his tensed muscles.

He was almost eager to learn more about the demon on the loose along with Natalie, it got his blood pumping in excitement.

Natalie wakes up with a gasp and realizes that she has fallen asleep at the precinct. She sighs and packs up her things. She decides that she needs to go home and rest. All these thoughts and things about demons will make it rough for her to sleep anyway. She goes to her car and drives off. She stops and parks it in a parking garage. She then goes across the street to a brick building with about 15 floors. She enters it and goes up to the fourth floor. She goes to a dark brown wooden door with the numbers 99 on it. She takes out her key and enters the apartment. Her cats greet her. She goes to a cupboard and pulls out some cat food. She feeds them and then goes and gets a shower. She steps into the shower after stripping down. She really just lets the water run over her while she thinks. Thinks of what to ask her new "Partner" in their next session.

After her shower she doesn't want to think about work any more and realizes how exhausted she really is. She sighs and sets her alarm. She then flops in bed and closes her eyes. She drifts off to sleep once again very easily this time. What wakes her up is the sound of her cellphone ringing. She looks at her alarm clock and it says 3:00 A.M. an hour after she fell asleep. "Hello? This is her." "Wait? What? Ok. I'm on my way." She then hangs up and swings her legs over to the side of the bed. That was her boss on the phone. There has been another killing and it's believed to be done by the demon.

Already at the scene was officer Shannon, his rather feline like green eyes scanning the area. The 6'0" man yawned, sharp canines showing momentarily before he glanced to Forensics as they did was they usually did. Clicking his tongue with a sigh he would greet Natalie with a small wave when she arrived, having heard her car before it pulled up.

"Ms. Smith." he greeted, a cup of coffee in hand for the woman. "Victim had his heart ripped out, the woman he was with had a seemingly slow death, bled out and was found pinned to a tree over there." he said, motioning to a tree to their left.
