brief background: kangmin was born and raised in australia as the eldest brother of two younger sisters. inspired by a street b-boying performance he'd seen, he convinced his mum to let him start dance classes at the age of five. hiphop, modern, ballet; he had experience in all sorts of genres, and he had talent in all of them. he was in a handful of dance troupes with his friends, winning awards and prizes every year, and was scouted at the age of sixteen at one of his competitions. so after a long and careful discussion with his mum, he made his way over to korea for the first time.

history: julian was born to very strict parents, and had a very strict upbringing. he was expected to get good grades for his academic subjects in school. even though he had close to no interest in them, he followed his parents' wishes and even received a top scholarship, but he didn't feel like he'd achieved anything.

he was finally able to convince his parents to get into media and film when he started college, but during this time, his relationship with his parents turned sour because he was caught sleeping with another boy, his boyfriend at the time. after a long chat, it was decided that they would still support his studies, but he was expected to leave home as soon as he possibly could.
