Brief History: Born to a respected family, there were expectations of Elphias; perfect posture, diction, dignity, grace, and duty. Duty to serve as an exemplar of family and blood, duty to further the name and line. A perfect child, for a perfect family.

That meant, however, that Elphias held certain expectations of his family in turn - to be as perfect as they expected of him. That came easily enough when he was young; mother and father alike were accomplished members of society who plied their craft for the Ministry. One day, however, both mother and father - who served as part of Centaur Liaison and the Invisibility Task Force respectively - erred tragically.

The story, as it goes, involves a group of intrepid muggles, a few centaurs, much hublub and bedlam, and maiming. Of course.

In either case, his father's spellwork in attempting to turn the muggles away had failed miserably, while the mother had made a right hash of the aftermath. A single tragic vicissitude that undid both in the eyes of their peers, and - eventually - in the eyes of their son.

Elphias' first years at Hogwarts had been mired by his parents' newfound status as laughing stock (because what could be better joke-fodder than muggle-maiming…?) Nonetheless, he acquitted himself well in his studies, and as part of House Slytherin. Ahead of his class when it came to charmswork - and charming enough, if not particularly outgoing - he shed, at least on the surface, the mockeries that had plagued him. Endlessly devoted to self-betterment and maintaining his own image, he became Prefect, although not quite managing to become Head Boy was a blow to his ego.

Elphias had long since set himself upon the path of becoming an Auror, if only because of the perception that came with it - of being known as amongst the 'best of the best'. Fueled by some talent, but mostly sheer vanity, Elphias successfully became part of the Auror office, although quickly became noted as not being a particularly welcoming or pleasant partner.

Stuff that I didn't fit into the above, either because I suck or due to being revealed later.

- Wand: 11", maple, unicorn hair, rigid.
- Sentiments of pureblood supremacy derive as much from his status as the events that led to mother and father's humiliation. Further disdain for Muggle/Half-Blood wizards stems from the idea of 'too many chefs spoils the pot'.
