because countering negativity is just what I do <3

Let's talk about what we like in St Valentine's Day! Do you love chocolate? Love an excuse to watch gooey romance movies? Love the excuse to out and out spoil your other half? Do you use it as a day to remember and celebrate the familial and platonic love in your life? Do you like discount shopping on the 15th?

This thread is for sincere positivity, your sarcasm is not welcome here.

For me, I love how busy we get at work (I work in a chocolate shop) and how happy our customers are when we can find something truly amazing

I use it as aday to devote to all the love in my life, familial, platonic, and romantic. Life is busy and it's easy to forget to say 'I love you' and to lose touch, so even though I try to make sure the people I love know it all year long, it's nice to have a specific day for it

Discount chocolates, omg my inner Dutchman loves the 15th

Sure, Valentines day has fallen prey to the commercialism that all of the holidays have, and, it's counter-intuitive to make only a single day about love when 'love', if that's what you think you are feeling, should be eternal, but, if we look past it all...

What do you love about Valentine's day? Be it buying yourself chocolate, or laughing as other people stress themselves out too much or fall flat on the day, (or maybe you really do like buying people chocolate?) what positive things do you have to say about this day?

(This had to be done. I want to strike a balance here... ^v^)

Cheap chocolate the day after and the wonderful opportunity to tease my friends (and some siblings) about their love life on the days leading up the 14th.

(I know the hypocrisy of the second half of my statement, if I had a partner then I would've made plans with that person instead of teasing my friends)

I love that in Korea, it's the women who give the guy a gift. I'm expecting at least four this year, hehehe :)

I love that the "Hate" thread is getting so much more attention.

All of you are in a persistent state of saltiness.

Chocolate. That is all. I'm not a Valentine's type of girl, never have been. When I was single I always felt pressured to go out with someone, so now that I'm married it's a day that I get to laugh at everyone for. They're worried about finding someone to go out with, picking the perfect date, and I get to sit at home with my hubby and relax.

Is it okay that I posted there that I hate the hate?

and ohmygosh I just realized that there is another thread like this... and I made sure to check before posting too!! >< This is embarrassing!

I adore all the candy, but that also is about it since I personally think daily love acts is more important. This is my first year not alone though, so perhaps some small surprise from my boyfriend who I'm tempted to tag and embarrass will give me another reason to like the day that I've never had before ^^

Ochas have gooey centers and the idea of romance makes them happy.

I think having a day to remind us to love is nice, it gets us out of our routines of normal life. I've been single for nearly ever Valentine's Day and IT'S OKAY TO BE SINGLE.

Also I usually am working for the Floral Department of my store and all the guys that want something nice but are unsure, but are thrilled with the suggestions you give them just lights me up. Also yes, the adorable younger people that want to buy something for their special someone is just too cute.

That you can get 2 ice creams for the price of one. I know they are meant for two people, but me and I like ice cream too

Oh man, I just remembered what I did last year~

Since, as usual, I didn't have a Valentine, I instead went through all the trouble of buying my teachers fancy gifts as a way of saying thank you. And it wasn't any of that cheap crap, either, I went all out with my gifts, nothing but the best for the people who helped me learn. I even got a little something for every single one of my classmates, as well as all the people I knew that didn't share any of the same classes as me. I can still remember the look on their faces when I gave them their gifts, how grateful they all were; and the hugs, holy crap, the hugs. I've never been hugged so many times in my life, it was almost claustrophobic.

Maaan, that was a good year... I would absolutely love to do something like that again, but I don't think I could, sadly, at least not this year.

Cheap chocolate. It tastes disgusting and it counters all the efforts I've made to keep in shape and I don't give a barnacle.
I also get to complain. A lot. Like, I can let out a constant stream of the most hateful rubbish I can think of, and nobody thinks to try and stop me. It's so liberating you wouldn't even know.

In summary, I get to gorge myself on chocolate and complain about love and emotions, and nobody judges me for it. I am genuinely happy about those two things.

Related to Laggy's uh... joy in the holiday, one of my favourite things is watching people complain. It's amusing. Granted, I also enjoy the gooshy love stuff too. So I could sit down on a bench and watch the two fields bicker about it, one being all lovey dovey and the other hatey... datey?

Tee hee, datey, valentine's day, pun.

Anyway, and if I'm not on the sidelines, I'm able to enjoy embracing and taking the piss out of the holiday.
