Today was the most joyous occasion of all the occasion. The princess, the fabulously beautiful daughter of the one and only king would finally marry the love of her life, the prince of the nearby kingdom, bringing stability to the realm once again. For hundreds of years these two kingdoms have warred with each other, but now, the two kings finally made peace with each other because they realised how foolish they were. So to celebrate the newfound peace, they have decided to organise the largest banquet that the world has ever seen, and sent invitations out in all the four directions, which was when they have realised the feelings of princess and prince. Seeing this as an opportunity, they have declared their wedding on the very same day the celebration was sent, inviting everyone in the kingdom to it as well.
Everyone had done their best to make this day worth remembering. The kings have sent their most prized chefs to cook all the food for the people who would take part, they have assigned their best servants to serve their guests, but more importantly, they spared no money to decorate the palace, the tents, the desks, the chairs and even the plates and the silverware. Everything was adorned with intertwining, baroque patterns that took many weeks to complete even in the hands of the masters of the particular trade. Not a single square millimetre was left undecorated; even the ground was livened up with the most expensive carpets that both kingdoms could afford. In short, the preparations almost ruined both kingdoms, but they made it through the harsh times, and now, the time has come.
With great joy, the prince and princess traded rings, then they exchanged vows. The priest blessed them with the most ridiculously complicated and beautiful blessing that he could find in his book, then the kings gave them their best wishes, after which they started the lavish banquet. Describing what had happened after that would not do it justice, for everything was so perfectly made, so perfectly coordinated that no number of words could ever describe it. One had to be there and see it with their own eyes so that they could believe what they saw, but even then, many thought it was a dream, for it was too perfect to be true. Yet even more wondered if they ascended into heaven, only to be disappointed by the touch of the nearest man.
The celebration lasted seven days and seven nights, and not one person in the kingdom dared to miss even a second of it, for it was so magnificent that not attending it seemed to be one of the worst sins. Even now, many hundred years after this event passed, people still talk about it, telling of the night that could never be forgotten, the night that forever binded two kingdoms.
