The halls within the castle were very much alive early this morning. School has been in session for about two and half weeks now and people were really excited to be at Hogwarts, especially the twins, Jayden and Jayson. They really hated the fact that they were in separate houses and that they couldn't really see each other that often but this morning, they both were watching the sunrise from the outside.

Jayden was hardly a morning person but with Jayson's plea, he was up early this morning, just for him. Jayden would literally do anything for his brother, well, almost anything. Jayson eyes were memorized with the moment as Jayden was nodding off beside him but Jayson nudged him with his elbow. "Bro, how can you sleep at a time like this?" Jayson asked as Jayden jolted up and wiped the slob from his mouth then rubbed his eyes. "You know that I am not a morning person. Though, I am a starving person right now."

Jayson pulled himself up after he shook his head at his brother then helped him up to his feet. "Yeah, let's go get something to eat, shall we?" Jayden and Jayson walked side by side, their bodies already covered up and adorned with their proper house colors and robes. As they entered the Great Hall, the candles were hung from the ceiling, by magic of course and every single table had breakfast food that literally stretched till the end of the table.

Upon entering the room, they waltzed over their friend, Nia and covered her eyes. "Guess who?" They said simultaneously as Nia shook her head with a scoff and removed their hands from her eyes. "Did you guys hear?" They both looked at each other then back at Nia with confused looks. "No. What's up?" Jayden asked as Nia offered for them both to sit down and they did as she leaned in towards them.

"I was reading the paper today and a serial killer has escaped from jail. Where could he or she be? No one knows." Nia said silently as she then slammed her hand down on the table that caused the twins to jump a little bit. "But! Our new headmaster has made sure no one leaves this campus until further notice. Beware, twins. Beware." Nia continued as the twins nodded their heads and got up from the table, both went to their respective house tables and sat down with their friends and started to eat.

Jayden wandered if the new headmaster was going to mention anything about the recent escapee but even if he doesn't, good thing Nia kept him on tap of things. Jayson was sitting with his friends, eating and laughing as a shudder went down his spine. He had a bad feeling about the recent escapee from jail and knew that the professors and headmaster was going to keep it covered up.

Annaliese, as always, rose at dawn, just as the first hints of hazy morning light began to pry their way through the nightly gloom of the Ravenclaw tower bedchambers. She was generally the first of her year-mates to get up in the morning, but this didn't bother her. In fact, she much preferred to get dressed in the dark and slip out before anyone else noticed her. No one could scold or bully her if they didn't even see her.

This morning she put on, besides her school robes, a bright orange scarf with pink polka dots, neon green gloves, and a blue wool hat with a giant fuzzy ball at the top. It really was not nearly cold enough out yet for such warm attire, but Annaliese always seemed to wear more clothes than necessary. Beneath her fuzzy hat, her wild red hair was plaited, not particularly neatly, and a bright blue pansy was thrust into the rubber tie at the end.

Thus prepared for the temperate September weather, Annaliese gathered up a patched bag from which all manner of school supplies, flowers, and food was escaping, and made her way out of the castle. She went first to the edge of the Forbidden Forest, where a small pack of wild dogs met her, tails wagging. "Hello, boys. You hungry?" she asked, pulling open her bag and digging out a few legs of lamb that she had scavenged from the kitchen the night before. They attacked the meat, but not before giving her hand a few licks and headrubs first. They were fond of her, besides being merely a great source of food. No one ever really knew why animals took to Annaliese so well, but they all seemed to see in her a fellow creature of the forest.

She watched them for a few minutes, before realizing that one of the younger dogs was limping slightly. "Leaper, you clumsy pup, what have you done to your paw?" she scolded, in an exasperated tone. The dog yipped and backed away, knowing what was coming next. "Oh no you don't!" She reached out and grabbed him by his middle, dragging him toward her. Holding him there with one hand, she dug in her bag with the other, pulling out her wand and some bandages. "Sit still!" she commanded. The dog, cowering, obeyed. "Tergeo," she said, pointing the wand at the dog's paw. The congealed blood and dirt in the wound flew away, leaving a clean cut. Annaliese bound it gently, murmuring blandishments on the pup all the while. Finally she let him escape back to his meal. "If you get rid of that bandage before dinnertime I shall be very upset!" she threatened, getting to her feet. Whether he was ignoring her or agreeing, Leaper continued to feast on his lamb.

Next Annaliese went to the Owlery to feed Gulliver. He had no such problems as the dogs, being in general a very sedate and careful creature, much like his mistress. He cooed at her and nibbled on her finger before consuming the feast of seeds she had brought him, and then covering his face under his wing and going back to sleep.

The sun was well up by the time Annaliese arrived in the Great Hall for her own breakfast, but she was still one of the earlier students to arrive. She found a seat at one end of the Ravenclaw table, far from anyone else. No one ever wanted to sit with her anyway, so it was easier this way. After piling herself a bowlful of fruit, she propped up a book in front of her and to all intents and purposes became wholly absorbed in this piece of literature as she nibbled on a bit of toast.

Other students began filing sleepily in, and the tables started to fill up. Behind her, Annaliese overheard a strange conversation between some sixth years. Something about a breakout from jail. She wasn't entirely sure why they would care about this - surely if anywhere in the world was safe from this escapee, it was Hogwarts? - but nonetheless she paused halfway through a bite of strawberry and half-turned in her seat to look wonderingly at the sixth years.

Brian McLennan

| Location - Great Hall | Interactions (Kinda?) - Annaliese @Kythera | Mentions - Annaliese, Jayson and Jayden @Sunshine & Whiskey | Gryffindor 5th Year |

Being raised how he was in a family of fishermen Brian McLennan was an earlier riser as always as he awoke from his bed to see the sun just rising outside the nearest window. He hopped out of bed and went through the usual morning ritual like everyone else does aside from the addition of looking under his bed and retrieving some contents from inside before placing it back underneath. What he retrieved were some of his latest pieces of work...well the ones that have been confiscated anyways; which were two small smoke bomb like balls that were around twice the size of a marble and were a light grayish color and one single similar marble that was a dull orange color which worked similar to a bunch of firecrackers when thrown at a surface. He stuffed these into his pockets before retrieving some food for Quinn before darting through the halls to the Owlery. With the absence of the majority of students during this hour he could usually make it there and back to the Great Hall for breakfast before everyone was truly awake. However, as he turned one of the last corners he nearly collided with a Ravenclaw girl with bright red hair in the halls. Barely missing her Brian just kept running though he would call out a "My bad!" as he continued on.

After Brian fed his barn owl known as Quinn he had a light chat with the bird along with a few pets before darting off to the Great Hall for breakfast just as some of the rest of the early birds were slogging in. Swiftly sitting himself at one of the middle seats at the Gryffindor table once he acquired a hearty place of sausage, eggs and toast. As he dug into his breakfast he could faintly hear a conversation across the way. Something about a serial killer escaping from jail and a bunch of other jargon as Brian couldn't really hear the rest as more wizards started entering the Great Hall and created more noise. He simply shrugged off the thoughts and continued eating along with some general chat with other Gryffindors.

Ravi Jeyaretnam

Morning found Ravi sitting on the floor of the Ravenclaw common room. Barefoot and shirtless he sat cross-legged staring out the window as the sun began to rise over the Hogwarts grounds. It'd long been a habit of his to get up early and meditate. Something about Ravenclaw Tower just made it feel appropriate. Most of the other students had grown accustomed the to the young man sitting there in the dark just before sunrise. He took a deep breath and heard a few footsteps. Of course he wasn't the only student up this early. In fact, he'd wager Ravenclaw had the biggest share of early risers among the four houses.

He attributed his success and performance in his classes on a lot of things. Hard work, time management, talent, among other things. This included his daily meditation. Sometimes he even went as far as doing some yoga, but most of the time it seemed like too much. Regardless, this cleared his mind and let him tackle each day to the best of his ability. Of course, there were ways to achieve similar results with magic, but this was a bit of magic of its own.

After the footsteps had left the common room, Ravi remained in his spot for another fifteen minutes letting the sun slowly fill the room with light. He got up and grabbing his wand off the nearby table, returned to his dormitory to get ready for the day. Despite having woken up so early, Ravi was always one of the last to head down to breakfast. Like every other day, he'd spent extra time on getting clean and getting dressed. By the time he left the Ravenclaw common room, it was a far cry form the empty dark room he'd meditated in an hour earlier. Checking his uniform and hair in a mirror near the door once more, Ravi exited to find a pair of second years standing outside on the staircase. They'd apparently had an early breakfast, but been unable to answer the knocker's question. Ravi rolled his eyes as the two relieved students rushed in before the door closed. He never understood how anyone could just sit around and wait for someone else to let them in.

The Great Hall was as busy as ever. It always took Ravi a while to get used to breakfast here, but two weeks into the term he was well used to the routine and the food. Some students seemed to genuinely enjoy the food prepared by the Hogwarts elves. It certainly wasn't bad. But Ravi usually started to miss his own mother's cooking by a month into the term. Finding some members of the Quidditch team at an end of the table, he sat down with them receiving some good-natured ribbing about his extra long morning routine. He noticed one of the fifth year girls, sitting nearby reading a book. He was surprised the noise didn't disturb her. He never understood how anyone could read at breakfast. As he started filling his plate with food, some murmuring caught his ear. It seemed the Great Hall was preoccupied with some news.

"I guess it's to be expected. I mean we removed the Dementors from Azkaban," Ravi began. He noticed some ugly looks directed his was and sighed. "I'm not saying we should've kept 'em. Obviously. Yeah it was evil and torture and we couldn't trust them. But you can't deny they kept that shit on lock for decades. Either way, the Aurors will pick him up and have back in jail soon. Just hope this doesn't interfere with Hogsmeade trips."

[spacer]PRECISION; intrticate brushstrokes against a blank canvas. Colour merged into hues of blue and green, trickling down the legs of the mahogany easel. As the occupants of the dormitory resumed their slumber, her weary chocolate eyes drifted ever so often to sleep, paintbrush and palette in her loose grip. The Sun gradually rose from the East, and as it drew ever higher into the slightly orange-streaked sky, the more lackadaisical were her strokes. The corner of the dormitory was occupied by her untidy art supplies. Yellowed Daily Prophet articles had been plastered onto the walls and floor. Paint had nevertheless tainted the borders of the said newspaper prints; a complication that the other Gryffindor students didn't seem to mind.[/spacer]
[spacer]Aspen glanced at the red alarm clock that perched atop one of the neighbouring girls' end table: three in the morning. She had managed to dissolve an entire wax candle in the time period she had utilised to complete her oil-painting. Of course, it was all in the name of artistry, which was a good enough excuse for Aspen. Sleep is for the feeble. Aspen found herself reciting, dipping her paintbrush in the tap water she so prudently readied. You can do it, Aspen, you can do it. Aspen promised herself before beginning her little project that she would treat herself to more oil-paints; muster the motivation and will to request for six or seven more Galleons for the next Hogsmeade excursion. With a final flourish of her brush, she proceeded to collapse onto her four-poster.[/spacer]
[spacer]Never was Aspen so joyful to tumble into her duvet.[/spacer]
[spacer]. . .[/spacer]
[spacer]"Aspen, wake up." were the words that made Aspen stir. She squinted, shifting to a sitting position. There, slightly towering over her, was the ginger-haired girl that resided next to her bed, Teagan. For six years did Aspen share toiletries with Teagan, and quite frankly, they were as friendly as dormitory mates could be. The other girls couldn't seem to ascend to a higher level of friendship. The 'I'm-taking-your-things-because-I-know-you'll-be-alright-with-that' level has never been exceeded by any other, and the non-commitment that existed was fairly mutual. Albeit Teagan had her own circle of connections that were far more closer to her than Aspen, she was rather fond of Aspen's shenanigans over the years (she had also been dubbed as Aspen's 'personal wake-up call' ever since third year after quite the debacle).[/spacer]
[spacer]The methodical shower and other hygienic actions are carried out in under a short period of time, and an extra five minutes or so taken to tame the unruly bed of curls Aspen so often requires to tend to. The pulling of the Gryffindor robes to meet her shoulders, and the enfolding of the yellow and red scarf. She returned to her quarters to bid her pet toad, Belcher, a simple goodbye, before placing a stock of celery and bits of carrot into his little feeding dish. The oil-painting she had recently finished was hung to dry near the window sill, and Aspen proceeded to exit Gryffindor tower without complication, book bag in her grasp.[/spacer]
[spacer]As Aspen was relatively timely that fine morning, she paid a visit to the Great Hall to breakfast. Besides, Aspen had neglected her History of Magic homework that was to be due last week, and the professor of that particular class wasn't quite content with her performance in general. She seated herself across a blonde boy around her age, not paying much mind to the students around her. Pouring herself a cup of earl grey tea, Aspen took a sip of the scalding beverage before setting it down. Quills and parchment were made to be placed onto the congested table, and she began her work.[/spacer]

Bryony was an early riser — there was no denying her appreciation of a bright and cheerful sunrise. The other Hufflepuff girls were still asleep when she tip-toed quietly out of the bedroom, holding her toothbrush, paste, towel, and Hogwarts uniform as she hurried along to the washrooms. Bryony did her daily routine which included a fifteen minute facial mask, an intricate hair treatment practice, and a touch of make-up before she was ready to take on the day. She was definitely excited for another day at Hogwarts.

As other students did, Bryony made a trip to the Owlery to care for her pet owl, Freckles. She carried along with her a brown paper bag of rabbit legs she had saved for the owl last night at dinner. Freckles was a very needy owl and insisted on only being fed rabbit meat. Upon giving Freckles the meat, the Tasmanian owl lunged at its food hungrily, clawing at the skin of the leg savagely. Bryony laughed at this, stroking the white feathers of the owl lovingly. A few other students were in the Owlery so she exchanged a few hellos here and there before leaving the building.

She sat with the other Hufflepuff students with her own designated group of best friends, leaving a cheerful word in each ear. Bryony then began to dig into her breakfast; a few sausages, a sunny-side up egg, two pieces of toast, and the usual tall glass of sweet, cold pumpkin juice. The usual conversations were had and everyone seemed to be in a fairly good mood. However, Bryony had heard over the chatter about something regarding a serial killer and Azkaban, and those two didn't go very well together. Bryony decided to tone down on her speaking so that she would be able to hear a little more about the piece.
