The Wishing Tree

Pain turned to the sound of foot falls, noticing the giant rabbit with armor. His eyes narrowed as he glanced at Ginseng, who was slowly backing away from the creature with wide eyes. The half demon quickly made it to his friends side, hand wrapping around his blade handle, but making no move to use the weapon- unless attacked by the creature.

Brynne noticed with dismay that the human was not fleeing. In fact, it looked ready to attack. Her eyes narrowed and she uttered a sort of growling noise.
Another human appeared next to the first and she mentally cursed. Two of them were considerably harder to fight than one.
She got down on all fours and took a step forward, still attempting to scare the humans off. If they didn't run, she wasn't sure what she would do...

"Pain, we should leave....we probably stepped into it's territory or something." Ginseng muttered, putting his hand onto the smaller male's shoulder.

"Yeah. I think there might be an inn or something somewhere near Loria...." The younger muttered, turning on his heel and dragging the taller along by his arm. Soon, they were on the path again, heading closer to their destination. Pain would glance back every now and then to see if the strange creature was still there, though.

Brynne relaxed as the humans left. She closed her eyes and cleared her mind, letting the tension flee her body. Her rabbity legs began to shrink and turn into human ones and her fur began to go back into her skin. In a few seconds, the transformation was over and she stood up and dusted herself off.
"Now to find something to eat... I think there was a raspberry bush around here somewhere." She murmured to herself. "Transformation always makes me hungry." She studied her surroundings and realized with a sinking feeling in her chest that the raspberry bush was along the path that the humans took. Her stomach growled at her and she sighed.
I suppose I'll have to try and walk around them. They'd probably recognize my armor if I crossed paths with them. Brynne thought. She sighed one last time, then set off at a light run into the trees bordering the path, staying about ten feet off of it.

Alexei smiled at the naga, excitement clear in his eyes. "Really?! The informant is here?" He seemed to think for a minute before smiling. "I got it! Do you think you could help me? We could look for the tree together! Maybe I could find my sister and give her a visit while we do. I'll pay you of course, I wouldn't make you do this for free!" The gold eyed prince was extremely excited now.

"Sire, I don't think this is a good idea." Lukas tried to convince his young charge. "You still have to appear in the towns."

"I can do that in any order I want though, right?" Alexei argued. "Plus, it'd be good for me to interact with the different races who'll live under my rule, right?" He turned to the naga, hope burning brightly. "Well? Do you accept?" The boy really just wanted to see his sister again, but having his wish granted sounded like a great idea to him. The boy's advisor and caretaker shook his head at the young boy's excitement. He was just a little too happy about this right now.

Elliot rose from his place in the tavern, waving a goodbye to Draso before heading out to the forest. It would be nice to see a kinsmen who wasn't an asshole. It seemed that the few vampires he had seen all were either crazy, controlling, or stupid. It would be quite refreshing to one who wasn't any of those. Maybe he could even get a new friend! Plus it would help with a few of his escapades to have someone other than himself to talk to during the night.

The siblings stopped in their endeavors to see a ranger asking what they were doing. Yuki couldn't really help in the situation so they stood there. It seemed a little bit obvious that the girl was alive when she gave a small grunt of pain at her arms being pulled at such weird angles. She was not going to be happy when she woke up, definitely not.

The night was moving quickly. It seemed that the next day was coming faster than expected to some, while to others it seemed to crawl. If only morning could come.

Sudarshan only had a moment's warning from the gleam of excitement in the prince's eyes before His Highness practically erupted with eagerness. It was so overbearing the naga struggled not to cringe. Boisterous people had never really been his favorite. But his expression changed as soon as the word "pay" hit his ears. He hadn't made a lick of money since leaving his comrades a few months prior, and he couldn't ignore his dwindling purse for much longer. How long has it been since you did an escort job? Nice easy money, and it sounds like he's up for a long trip. A slight smile played at his lips, not enough to reach his eyes, but enough to look polite. "I would be honored to accompany you if you will have me, Your Highness," he said. "I do warn you that I can't make any promises. I do not know the whereabouts of the informant at this time. However, I did receive a tip that she may be hiding out in the forest tonight. There was, ah, a bit of a scene in the streets earlier." I hope she's all right, he thought before continuing. "If you are willing to start this endeavor knowing that there's a big element of uncertainty in it, then I'm yours." He dipped his head in deference to the heir to the throne.

Well, this was a turn of events in his life that he wouldn't have expected. He'd been ready to give up on the informant and make plans for the library, but now that he was an inch away from being hired by a very wealthy client who sounded willing to put up with (and pay for) the extra time of a nigh-baseless search, he saw no reason to turn the offer down.
