Welcome to Anora. Our world, once again, calls out for great heroes to shape the course of history. Celandine and Teran are two nations that have existed in close proximity to each other since the dawn of time. Separated by the Elven Sea, they have lived in relative peace since the beginning of the First Era. However, after a barrage of incursions and violations by Teran, Celandine has issued a formal declaration of war. Although the war is still in its infancy, many citizens of both nations have lost their lives and homes. Just as all hope seems to be lost, twelve guardians, six for each nation, will rise from the ashes of these once prosperous lands. Who will you be? Who will you fight for? Only you can say.

Teran
Teran is a harsh and unforgiving land, called home by a people best described as bitter and tough. They are not accustomed to the temperate climate that Celandine was graced with. Instead, Teran has a climate of extremes. In its northern regions, inhabitants are subjected to blizzard conditions year-round, with only a brief reprieve during the summer. Southern regions, on the other hand, are engulfed by vast deserts that are extremely difficult to navigate. This arid landscape is dotted by the occasional oasis, which is where most settlements can also be found. This has made determination a very prevalent feature in most of Teran's inhabitants. One of the largest factors that has enabled civilization to flourish in what would seem to be a wasteland is the copious amounts of precious gems and minerals that have been found in Teran's soil.

Celandine
Celandine is a continent of stunning diversity. From the lush Silverwood Forests to the snow-capped Ankhor Mountains, Celandine is the epitome of varied landscapes. With a mediterranean climate, Celandine is also ideal for agricultural production. The Connous Plains are most notable as a large producer of wheat, barley, and other grain products. It is a nation of constant change, with a long and rich history. Although there have been political squabbles between the various races that inhabit this fair land, they have unified against the threat of Teran.

Humans
Humans are the most numerous race in all of Anora. They are a humble race, but one that through supreme numbers, hard work, and dedication have come to be respected by Elves and Dwarves alike. Long ago, Elves and Dwarves kept the humans as slaves, but not since the Connous Rebellion. The Elven city of Connous was destroyed as Human slaves broke free of the chains that once impaired them. After the Elves had fled, the Humans built their grand city of Erandor in it's place as a monument to the plight they had overcome to gain their freedom. After a few more battles, the three races decided to sign the Erandor Concordat. In this declaration, the Elven Queen Dalisina and the Dwarven King Nargen swore that Humans would never be enslaved again. Humans have an average lifespan of 60-110 years. Humans can be slain by illness and disease more easily than the other races. They reproduce very quickly though. A Human woman may have up to 12 children by her 50th year. Humans relied upon this evolutionary advantage to gain respect through sheer numbers. They have proven invaluable as light infantry, as well as showing an affinity for archery. Humans are extremely diverse and come in all shapes and sizes, colors and variations.
Dwarves
Dwarves are--what some might call--the backbone of Celandine. They are a hardy people, constituted by fierce warriors and proud politicians. They have an average lifespan of 200-400 years. Unlike their Elven cousins dwarves reproduce almost as quickly as Humans do. With this manpower, they have erected some of the most breath taking monuments in all of Celandine and Teran alike. They live in large subterranean cities that are made with the finest craftsmanship and stone working ever seen in the history of the Celandine. Dwarves are capable of magic, though it is not very accepted in Dwarven society. Dwarven weapons and armor are of the finest make in Celandine. They are exceptional two-handed weapons fighters. Like humans, Dwarves tend to be extremely diverse.
Elves
Elves are, by most standards, the aristocracy of Celandine. They have built spectacular cities devoted to arcane research in the Silverwood Forests. Elves usually have lifespans of 500-800 years. Due to this prolonged lifespan, the Elven race has created some of the finest philosphers, poets, and musicians ever seen in Celandine. Elves are virtually immortal, though they can still be slain by wounds of the flesh. Also, because of their affinity with magic, Elves are more vulnerable to diseases magical in nature. Furthermore, this prolonged lifespan also decreases the Elves' ability to reproduce as rapidly as Humans and Dwarves. A single Elven woman may have only one or two children during her entire lifespan. Children are often revered due to this inherent rarity. Elves are often called the Fair Folk. This is because Elves practice ancient magic that can be used to alter physical appearance. Elves have proven themselves to be expert archers as well as some of the best mages in all of Anora. They are an intellectual and secretive people, proud of their rich heritage. Over time, Elves have diversified into the following racial ethnicities:

Northern Jotun - The Jotun of the North inhabit the mountains northeast peninsula. Their skin colors range from brown to light purple. Their hair colors range from blonde to black. They are the most reticent and secretive of the Elves, hardly ever descending from the the mountaintops to interact even with their brethren. The Jotun tend to be of a more muscular body type, and therefore can usually be found serving as infantry or cavalry in Elven armies.

Western Naiad - The Western Naiads are an ethnicity of Elves who inhabit the Western Coasts adjacent to the Hydra's Den. They are often the most social of the Elven people, interacting with other races frequently through maritime trade. They tend to have lighter skin due to the foggy coastal conditions. Similarly, their hair tends to be lighter in nature, ranging from silver blonde to light brown. They also seem to have a high affinity for mischief, and thus it isn't uncommon for Naiad Elves to take up work as rogues and merchants. They seem to have an innate charisma.

Eastern Dryad - The Eastern Dryad are the ethnicity of Elves that inhabit the Eastern Silverwood Forests adjacent to the Ankhor Mountains. They tend to have diverse skin colors, ranging from brown, tan, or even pearly white. Their hair, on the other hand, tends to be darker in coloration, ranging from jet black to dark brown. They tend to be one of the more insular groups of Elves, although this is not because they are distrustful of other races. It is more due to the fact that the Dryads have a strict belief in self-sufficiency and rarely need anything that they cannot produce themselves. The Dryads are trained as some of the most lethal archers in all of Anora.

Southern Dijinni - The Djinni Elves inhabiting the length of the Great River Celandine tend to be one of the more social groups of Elves. The Djinni are extremely well-versed in magic. Their skin colors range from aquamarine to dark blue. Their hair also tends to be orange, possibly a side affect of their extensive use of magic.

Drakin
Making their home in the volcanic wastelands of eastern Teran, the Drakin are a race which have proven themselves to be capable blacksmiths. They have an average lifespan of 150-250 years, although males tend to live slightly longer compared to females for reasons not fully understood. They come in a dazzling array of colors, although most tend to be shades of orange and purple. They have no hair. Instead, they have a large outcropping of bone that looks somewhat similar to hair from a distance. This bone is usually dark in coloration, ranging from black to brown. Historically, they have been an oppressed race in Teran. During the First Era, while Celandine lived in relative peace, the Drakin were hunted in Teran. Most were captured and enslaved, and even after this slavery was repealed, Drakin were always considered to be second-class citizens. However, with the recent invasions of Celandine, the Drakin have proven themselves worthy of a place among Teran's fiercest warriors. They make excellent warriors and seem to have an innate resilience.

Orc
Making their home along the mountainous western coasts of Teran, the Orcs are the oldest inhabitants of Teran. Some scholars have speculated that they are somehow related to Celandinian Elves, or at least their abnormally long lifespans would suggest this. Orcs tend to live 200-400 years, with certain outstanding individuals making it to 500. Orcs have a long and proud tradition of conquest. They have ransacked eastern lands, asserting their dominance over the Drakin many times. Orcs tend to live in nomadic tribes that survive by herding of livestock or hunting and gathering. They are also the most diverse group in Teran, developing distinct ethnicities after thousands of years of evolution. Despite the stereotype, many Orcs are skilled tacticians and strategic thinkers, with a keen sense of the flow of battle.

Northern Ogre – The ogres reside in the frozen world of northern Teran, where the world is dark for many months on end. As such, historians have speculated that they developed their piercing red eyes to better distinguish those of their own kind. They are the most aggressive of the Orcs, with a great capacity for violence. They are usually found at the forefront of any Orc army, savagely ripping apart foes without any concern for their own safety.

Western Goblins – The goblins are an ethnicity of Orc that make their home in the western coasts of Teran, living in small shacks along the coast. They are mainly peaceful, trading with any wayward ships that happen upon their shores. They survive on fishing mainly, while a few are gifted with the ability of hunting. They are notoriously gifted in the art of stealth. As such, many goblins tend to be found in the field of thievery and pickpocketing. They are also somewhat gifted with bows and arrows.

Eastern Trolls – The trolls of the east are the most rational of the Orcs. Although very few Orcs tend to be gifted with magic, trolls have a higher chance of being able to manipulate arcane energy than any of the Orc family. Making their home in the east, near the Drakin, they have shown themselves to be extremely affable. When the Drakin were used as slaves, it was the trolls who began the social movement that demanded they be set free. They are mainly nomadic, staying in no one place for quite too long. They tend to be good at dealing with other races, acting as diplomats and emissaries for the Orc people.

Southern Gorgons – The gorgons are an enigmatic ethnicity of Orc. As a people, they tend to hold collectivist values of sacrificing for the common good. They are an elusively nomadic race that lives in the rain forests that dominate the southern tip of Teran. They rarely interact with anyone, even those of their own kind--although, if you ask a gorgon, most will let you know that they do not consider themselves Orcs before they knock you unconscious. Gorgons do not consider themselves Orcs, but rather something entirely different, which could account for their less-than-hospitable behavior towards foreigners. What little is known about these mysterious Orcs is that they are extremely gifted in the art of the one-handed sword.

Drow
Commonly referred to as Fallen Elves, the Drow dominate the icy world of Northern Teran. Their cities are constructed amidst the eternal darkness of winter, as they tend to shy away from any exposure to sunlight or warmth. Elven legend holds that the Drow were a group of Naiadic Elves that worshipped a dark and powerful God who sought to destroy Anora. As punishment for their insolence, Coimas Suula altered their appearance to one befitting of their corrupted hearts. Women screamed as he turned their glorious golden coif black as a raven's wing. Their skin greyed, and their eyes began to glow various shades of red and purple, giving them a much more gaunt appearance. As a final punishment, Coimas Suula banished the Drow from Celandine to the frozen wastelands of Teran.

The Drow are an extremely secretive race that silently, but forcefully, pulls the strings of the Teranian "Revolution". They tend to be political leaders in Teran, and are known for possessing a silver tongue. Drow tend to be slightly shorter than other types of Elves, with an extremely lithe build. Their skin is always ash-colored, ranging from gray to dark gray with a purplish tint. Their eyes tend to be outlandish colors like purple, red, and yellow. Their hair, on the other hand, is always jet black. These people are gifted in the art of magic, but it is magic unlike that practiced by Celandinian Elves. The magic of the Drows is much more sinister and ancient in nature, primal and savage in its capacity to rend the life from any who would stand against them.

✘ Do not argue in the OOC. What's in the IC, stays in the IC. In case a fight does break out, the GM and Co-GMs will take care of it. If you're displeased with one of your fellow roleplayers, please send the GM or Co-GMs a message.
✘ Do not godmod, and/or metagame.
✘ Do not kill others' characters without discussing it with them first.

✓ Write at least 200 words.
✓ Try to be in depth when you write your post.
✓ Wait for at least 1 person to post before you post again.
✓ Post at least twice a week. In case you have something come up and you cannot post for a long time, let me know by using PM or OOC.
✓ Feel free to suggest ideas and contribute to the RP!
✓ Your character(s) may use profanity but please refrain yourself from turning your character(s) into a drunken sailor.
✓ Make sure you're always following Iwaku's posting rules and expectations at all times. I am especially critical when it comes to community behavior. If you're not sure that entails, Iwaku provides a detailed list of the behaviors expected from a productive and contributing community member here.
✓ I do not expect a wonderfully written masterpiece every time, but I would like to see that you put obvious effort into your posts. As such, I ask that you always proofread and spellcheck your posts before posting. I simply want you to strive to put forth your best material at all times.

➹ If there are multiple individuals who are interested in the same role, be prepared to compete. The best character will be awarded the position. If 12 hours pass and no one challenges your role, you are entitled to said role.
IMPORTANT: When done right, romance can be an extremely enriching aspect of a roleplay. I am not opposed to romance, but all sexual content in the roleplay itself must be implied. You're more than welcome to take any libertine material to the PMs, because the IC thread is not the place for it. I condone this provided that all individuals involved are in the same age group and you're not breaking any of Iwaku's rules and regulations. If I learn of anything that trespasses Iwaku's rules and regulations regarding libertine material and cross-age group interaction, I will report all individuals involved to the appropriate authorities and you will be removed from the roleplay immediately.
➹ Reservations last 2 days. If you want more time, please send me a PM.
➹ This is an adept-level roleplay, but I am aiming to have the majority of the content classified as advanced. If you're not sure what that means, refer to this thread.
➹ If you want to drop out, please send me a message and we can arrange for your character(s) to be adopted or killed off. Failure to do so will result in your character(s) being disposed of in any way I deem fit.
➹ Include your favorite color in the 'Other' section of your roleplay if you have read through this entire list of rules.
➹ Have fun!

Try to remember the following as you create your character:

✪ Be creative! Let your imagination fly!
✪ Be logical! Don't turn your character into a super-human that no one can defeat. It ruins all the fun.
✪ Don't make more than 2 guardians. You can make 2 characters top.
✪ Try to avoid the obvious cliches. Be inventive and original!
✪ Read all of the lore regarding Anora, and especially the lore concerning whichever race your character will be. While you are not required to follow the lore, it is highly suggested since it will make your character more cohesive with the world of Anora. Hopefully, it can provide you with inspiration and direction for you character. Also, I put a lot of time and effort into making up the lore and it sucks when somebody does something completely off-the-wall without any heed of Anora's existing lore.
✪ Read the rules! There is important information there that you must read before I will even consider your application!

Arlathina updated The War of Celandine: A Saga Reborn with a new update entry:

Planned Roleplay Start Date!

I am aiming to start the roleplay after a two-week character gathering period. That puts the start date at January 4, 2016. This two-week period will be mainly focused on processing character applications and making sure that all characters meet the requirements I have specified. I believe that before we begin the roleplay, we must have at least 3 of the guardians and 1 ruler for each respective nation. That is eight roleplayers in total, assuming that nobody...
