The taste of freedom

She didn't know when or where they had been killed but she guessed that it were a bit away from the school. She hadn't noticed any accidents in the school that were out of the ordinary, a lot of new people that came to the school lost control over their powers, that wasn't anything unusual. But there were times that the accidents became bigger and much more severe, sometimes a lot of students went out of control at the same time. Could it be because of the killings even though they probably were done in the desert when they caught them?

"They will kill you if they don't think they can force you to stay here." She warned him not carring about to answer his first question. They would probably overlook his escape the first time and just punish him, no one disappeard after the first time. But if he would keep trying to run away then they would feel a need to kill him. She should go to the principal right away and tell him about Kaleb's escaping plans, then he would get locked up right away untill he would stop thinking such unnecessary thougts. But deep inside she knew that she coldn't do that.

Aleksandra barely noticed that he had started to walk towards the door, she noticed it first when he already were at the door and asked her if they were going to get to class. She had forgot about the time, if they were late then it would be her responsibility and she would get in trouble. She looked at her watch to see how much time there was left, it were almost thirty minutes left, to litle time to show him around but if they went to class it would be much time left before they started. But it was better than staying in there and talking about his escaping plans. It just made her feel bad not knowing if she should tell the principal or not.

"I guess we need to wait with the tour untill after the classes are done." She said a bit disappointed that they didn't do it in the morning when she got up so early just for that purpose. She started to walk out of the room and led the way to the classroom. When they came a bit away from the burned classroom they started to see students walking in the corridors, many people looked with curious eyes on Kaleb. No people were in the classrooms yet, the only thing that was there were silence and cameras that could see their every movements.

[DASH=teal]Aleksandra gave him yet another warning. Consequence was the only thing on this girl's mind, and he knew he wasn't getting through to her, so he backed off. He had a feeling she wasn't going to snitch but from now on he would be on his own. He waited by the door and held it open for her without another word. Kaleb admitted to himself that he was a bit disappointed that he wasn't able to sway her, but life would go on and she would be sent somewhere high in the mountains where there was little oxygen to make fire and he would be back in the woods just trying to make ends meet. It was an unlikely friendship that never actually happened.

He followed her silently through the corridors where the other students began showing themselves. Pudgy, and out of shape, it was no wonder any other the other students didn't get very far. Kaleb was sure that there was at least a place to run around here, but he doubted anyone actually used it. Al mentioned something about the tour having to wait until after classes, but Kaleb just shrugged. "Don't worry about it, I've already caused you enough trouble." At the very least he could try and keep on her good side, that would up his chances of her keeping his secrets.

"Hi, there, John!" Kaleb had been too busy following Al and following her to notice that there was another girl walking beside him, looking at him with dull gray eyes. "My name is Kaylee. Listen, if you're not doing anything later maybe we can... hang out?" This girl looked at him with a coy smile and gently placed a hand on his shoulder. Kaleb frowned at Kaylee and brushed her hand off of his shoulder. "I'm fine, thank you." He left it at that and continued to the classroom with Aleksandra. The two of them entered the room, but Kaylee stayed at the door, almost modeling against the door frame. "Loners are sooo hot." Kaylee hissed slyly before leaving to go to her own classroom. "I know air wielders were independent but my god." Kaleb whispered to himself and chose a seat.

It occurred to him that Kaylee was probably a spy ordered to get as much insight at possible by the principle. That meant he would continue to blow her off but allow her to follow him. That meant nothing suspicious could take place from now on, until he was absolutely sure Kaylee had given up. Thankfully she was an air wielder and not an earth wielder otherwise he would be followed closely forever. The first order of business was to find that running track and work out otherwise his energy would grow greater and who knows what would happen.[/DASH]

He didn't want to bother her, even if he said that it would be bothersome if she didn't follow the principals instructions. She were supposed to show him around and make sure that he knew about the school. "So you don't want to know where the gym is? You don't look like the type of guy that only sits still all day." She said trying to make him interested in a tour. "If you don't want to bother me then you should just let me show you around, it will be a bother if you don't." She continued. Just as she finnished a girl started to talk with Kaleb, Aleksandra had noticed that the girl were there but she just hadn't cared about her.

She remembered the girl, a vague memorie came up in her mind from when she went to the principals office and Kaylee were in there. It were before Aleksandra had become 'the principals pet.' It was a day when she once again had lost control over her powers, but it was so small so no one noticed except a friend of hers. Her friend had told her she wouldn't tell anyone but somehow Kaylee had gotten it out of her and told the principal. Aleksandra had gotten in trouble for loosing control and held it a secret and her friend had gotten in trouble for not telling the principal. At that time Kaylee had been telling the principal everything and there were even times when she had gotten missions from the principal to get information on some students. But since Aleksandra had become the principals favorite she had no idea if he even used Kaylee as a source anymore.

It didn't surprise her that Kaleb rejected Kaylee, he had told her that he wouldn't trust anyone after all. But why had he trusted her all of a sudden? He had told her his name and told her a lot about himself. Wasn't he afraid of her going to the principal with it? She looked at him as she sat down in her seat. That wasn't anything she could ask him now, with the cameras and Kaylee close by it wasn't safe at all.

"As I said before, it would be bothersome for me if you didn't let me show you around. I don't like getting a mission that I don't finnish." She told him because they had been interrupted when she told him that before.

[DASH=teal]As they walked to class Aleksandra told him it would bother her more if she didn't show him around. Well, he couldn't argue with that. He was about to reply when Kaylee had shown up. Kaleb had forgotten to reply to Al as they entered the classroom, and with Kaylee gone he relaxed and picked a seat next to the window. He had never been in a classroom, and this way of learning was far different from the way he learned everything. "Class" was something that the Air Wielder he met called the sessions of her teachings, and it usually took place in a clearing in the forest. But this room was filled with just seats, and he supposed that meant that all the classes were held the same way, sitting and listening. Just great, he hated sitting. He was already itching to move.

Al spoke to him again and broke him away from his thoughts of the air nomad, and turned his attention to her. So, it was just better if he let her show him around after all. Kaleb nodded and offered a small smile. "Alright, then I'll take the tour." He said, careful to watch his words when he knew there were people and cameras around. It was as if the walls had eyes and ears, and it was quite disturbing not to have privacy. This place was so vastly different from his true home. If he closed his eyes and thought about it, he could see the forest, every shade of green and he could almost smell the fresh dew in the morning. 'Patience..' He thought, 'you will be where you belong if you wait for the right time..' Kaleb would have to convince himself to be smart about this and not just kick down the front door and make a run for it.

He observed the desert from the window, watched the colors of the sand in the sun and which way the sand grains would fly according to the wind. As the class filled up with students he casually watched everyone closely, even the teachers. This school was made up mostly of earth wielders, all of them were probably too headstrong when they were younger and pretty much gave away that they were Gifted, it wasn't really their fault. There were some air wielders mixed in, but Aleksandra was the only fire wielder and he was the only water wielder. The teacher had an aura so stale that it matched his voice. This whole school was run by people who were not Gifted, and they were all stupid and had no idea how to handle these children. This whole place just made him feel sick to his stomach.[/DASH]

"Good" She said and shortly after the classroom started to become filled, many people looked at Kaleb and started to whisper about the new guy that had been guarded the first day in school. Because of the way he had been taken there it would probably be many rumours about it for a while. The most people that gets taken there aren't such a big problem so they just need one guard untill they get to the principal's office, then two students take over the person that has come to the school and showes the person around just as he or she arrives. It is really unusual to have a person that needs to have more than one guard with him the whole first day and on top of that had handcuffs. Ofcourse there would go around a lot of rumours.

Between the whispering about the new guy some people greeted Aleksandra on their way to their seats. Some people just did it because she were the student closest to the principal so being on her good side maybe would help them if they got in trouble, but in reality it didn't help at all. Some of the guys did it simply because they thought that she were beautiful, and others did it because they liked her as a friend. She barely saw anyone in the school as her friends, she mostly were by herself and tried to ignore everyone. She had no idea why some people thought they were friends just because they sat at the same table as her at lunch and talked to her without getting any reply. But there were people that she liked to, it was three people that she actually liked to be with sometimes now and then. One of them were a girl that almost always were locked up in her room reading books, but the times she came out she often talked to Aleksandra about the books she had read. Another were a guy that played violin, they often discussed classical music after school. And the third were a girl named Sarah, she came to the school two years after Aleksandra and they became good friends almost immediately.

The teacher came in and started the lesson. Aleksandra were to much in her own thoughts to even notice that the class had started. Once she noticed that the class actually had started half the lesson had already past, but the last half seemed to take an eternity. She sat there almost praying that the class would end soon so she could just go away from there. She had never liked to sit still in the classroom, it was a small classroom with closed windows and a lot of people, she almost felt claustrophobic in there. Luckily the aircondition worked in the classroom, not because that was so surprising. After her accident they had never let people be in rooms where the airconditioner didn't work, just in case something would happen.
