This is a sci-fi/fantasy RP. The Players are young Mages who have been brought to the Academy in order to develop their magical talent and protect their city. They will fight monsters that roam in the wilderness, investigate nefarious plots against King and Country, and so on. But that is all in their future. For now, after a bit of general plot setup, let us have the characters meet up, get to know one another, etc. We can feed them to monsters later.

The plot so far:
The students meet their teacher, Professor Yuki Okamoto, and have their first few days of instruction.

About a week into their Academy life, they are unexpectedly sent out on a mission to investigate the town of Normaden. They learn that a Witch, a powerful monster that sometimes grows from humans with magical potential, has developed in the region. Their Professor takes on the role of exterminating the Witch itself, leaving the students to handle some of its Familiars. During the students' fight, though, they are unexpectedly brought face to face with an Angel. After a fierce fight, the students are victorious and return to their homes safely.

Back in Uruk, the plots grow thicker. A massive force of Angels has gathered near Babylon, and the head honchos discuss plans of how to deal with the threat. The Academy's Headmaster learns that the Angel that the students encountered was sent by the Chief of the Galileians. What could Chief Herschel be plotting, and why involve these young Mages?

Completely unaware of these plots, the students are assigned another mission: to resolve an incident over who should possess a valuable research subject. They will be escorted and monitored by Essence Parker, one of the academy's Student Council members...

Since Rainer had no questions to ask, he naturally enough stayed quiet and neutral. It was a bit of a shame that no one had replied to his hello, but that's nothing out of the ordinary, just another day in the life of Rainer Gottwaldt. Uneventful as per usual, well not that there was a reason for it to be eventful. Rainer just kinda existed there wondering what this whole thing was exactly about, not that he cared much. At least his spirit kept him some level of company, all things considered, talking with him quite a fair bit, seemingly super excited and worried. Rainer wondered if this King Gilgamesh character was really such a big deal, but at the same time, strangely enough felt like he should recognize him as such and try and not stand out too much.

Okamoto then proceeded to guide them to the courtyard, where 3 black cars were waiting for them. Rainer hopped into a random one and was minding his own business while on the way there. Once they had arrived at their location, Rainer felt pressure. Massive pressure. It derived from one simple reason: "T-this King Gi-Gilgamesh person, sure is rich.." He said under his breath after the had gotten out of the cars. Rainer became really docile, the closer they got to the palace, once they made it inside, he was stressed as hell. After he saw some people eating and drinking, he decided to join in on that, instead of being semi-paralyzed near the entrance of the waiting room.

Rainer took one one of the more simple looking snacks on one of the tables and put it into his mouth, only to realize, this was undoubtedly the best food he had ever eaten. In it's own way, he felt like it was a crime to eat something like this, so that one piece is all he took, before he took a seat, trying to blend in with the chair.

Lavi

Outfit: Transformation
Phoebe would continue to simply exchange some simple pleasantries with the rest of the class as they continued on. Waiting for the apparent time at what they would travel. Once the clock hit 8:10 point on time Okamoto would stand up and begin to escort them to the courtyard, where multiple black cars waited for them. A sight that could remind one more someone's death then a festive occurrence.

However it may be, Lavi seeing that people began to filter out into differing cars, chose to simply follow miss Okamoto whom seated in the lead car. Seeing the variety of drinks, Lavi couldn't stop herself from satisfying her curiosity in front of the teacher. Trying out a few of the bubbly drinks that could be found.

Phoebe on the other hand would have either transformed into her core if she would take up too much space otherwise, or stayed as was normal if the only occupants in the car would be her, Lavi and Okamoto plus one other potential person.

Lavi seemed to be perhaps a tad uncomfortable from the paparazzi, hearing the constant buzzing and shouting of the men and women outside wanting to get their latest scoop surrounding the class. Showing heavy relief when the class finally made their way into the building itself after the buzz around the palace gates. She had not much of a comment on the scenario around her and just kind of kept her tired look though now slightly in anticipation for the fact she may for the first time meet the supposed king Gilgamesh.

Professor Okamoto

It couldn’t have been more than twenty seconds between Lyka ringing the bell and a maid opening the door. The young woman listened to Lyka’s order and curtsied in acknowledgement before disappearing out the door again. Within about a minute and a half, the maid returned with Lyka’s non-alcoholic martini. After setting it down, if there were no further requests, the maid would depart once again.

About fifteen minutes passed before the butler from earlier returned. ”Our preparations are complete. Please, follow me. His Majesty awaits.” Professor Okamoto set her plate and cup off to the side for the staff to take care of before following the butler out the door. They would travel through a few hallways before stopping in front of a pair of massive, ornate double doors with four guards stationed outside. Two guards stepped forward with devices of some sort, sweeping them over the air around each Mage. Whatever they were looking for, it seemed that they didn't find any problems, as they moved back into position and saluted.

The thud of a staff on the floor could be heard from the door, either from the other side or through an embedded speaker possibly. A majordomo's voice could likewise be heard calling out "Presenting Professor Okamoto and Academy Class 1B!" On cue, the double doors dramatically swung inwards, allowing access to the throne room.

Professor Okamoto led the way into the grand throne room, striding confidently down the long red carpet. She clearly had been in here more than a few times, as she did not seem at all fazed by the sheer opulence present throughout the room. It was one thing to see images of the throne room or look at it on the television; it was quite another to be standing there in person. Statues of famous figures had been carved into the walls. Paintings and tapestries from master artisans likewise covered the walls. Elaborate chandeliers hung from an intricately painted ceiling, and even the floor had been decorated with precise stonework. And in alcoves located along the walls, there was a variety of elegant furniture, jewelry, and other smaller works of art. Yet despite each and every piece being incredible, it was clear great care had been taken in the choices and their placement. There was no question of the sheer amount of money and power emanating from the presentation, but somehow, the display was only awe-inspiring rather than overwhelmingly garish.

With all of the wealth and prestige on display, it would be easy for someone to assume that the man who ruled here was not only incredibly powerful, but also quite possibly tyrannical. After all, if a king could afford to own all this wealth, surely that would mean that they were taking that wealth from areas that needed it more. That said, all it took was a brief recollection of history lessons or a glance at the plaque placed near a given work to know that all of the many treasures had not been bought, but had been gifted. Having your work displayed in King Gilgamesh's throne room alongside the other great artisans from throughout history was perhaps the greatest honor an artisan could ever hope to receive, so offerings of possible displays were in no short supply.

As one moved through the hall, they might recall the various images and video footage that they had seen of previous events in the throne room. Though there were no cameras visible, it wasn't too hard to guess that magic was being used to conceal them and maintain the atmosphere of grandeur. Modern problems require modern solutions, after all.

Okamoto led the way down the elegant carpet, coming to a stop a few meters away from a raised dais at the far end of the hall. As she stopped, she gestured for the students to spread out in a horizontal line before the dais. She then dropped to one knee, bowing her head as she did so. There was a slight moment of panic within her as she realized that some of the students, or rather a few in particular, might not have known it was customary to kneel or curtsey and bow your head, but that panic never reached her face. She would just have to hope that they had seen enough news footage and movie scenes to know, or at the very least hope that they had the common sense to follow the examples of those around them.

Atop the dais was a majestic throne, the seat of the ruler of all humanity. But even as the eyes were drawn to the intricate craftsmanship of the mighty chair, they could feel the design drawing their eyes towards the occupant. It was the Immortal King himself: the reincarnated demigod who had brought humanity back from the brink of extinction with his leadership, whose face was known to every citizen.

King Gilgamesh

King Gilgamesh lounged in the throne, his head lightly resting on his gauntleted right hand as he watched the approaching mages. On the left hand side of his throne stood a large, jolly-looking man. While certainly, nobody in the kingdom could approach the monarch’s level of fame, as the God of Health, Dian Cecht was still rather well known.

"The Mages of Class 1A, Your Majesty," Okamoto spoke while still kneeling, yet her voice carried well throughout the hall.

"Raise your heads," King Gilgamesh commanded. He swept his gaze slowly across the students, lingering for a moment on each one. "Hoh, so these are the Mages and Spirits that stopped the attack.” He nodded to himself. "I would know your names, young Mages, and yours, noble Spirits.”

Professor Okamoto turned her head to her left for a moment, gesturing for the leftmost student to speak first. She then turned back towards the throne, letting the students give their own names. As she was already decently well known, there was no need for her to present herself.

Londo Sperry THE GREAT!

Hibiscus Oswald

====================================================================

After a short amount of time, or what seemed like a month and a half to Lyka who had to silently brood over how she couldn't get alcohol, they were told that it was now time to go see the king. Londo briefly wondered why they had to prepare for it when they had been expecting them in the first place. Whatever, didn't matter, and Londo put down whatever he had been holding as did Hibiscus, who opted to grab Lyka instead and deposit her on her shoulder, where Lyka slithered away underneath the coat.

They walked through a few hallways, Londo humming to himself all the while, while Hibiscus looked around in amazement. Finally, they reached an impressive-looking door, which opened and revealed an amazing throne room. Londo whistled in amazement, while Hibiscus stared, open-mouthed at the beauty of it. It sure was an amazing sight, but Hibiscus wondered just how much this entire room was worth if you decided to put it for auction. Would all the stuff in this room be enough to pay for an entire small nation? Just how grand was this room?

Meanwhile, Londo just gave a quick glance around, and shrugged. Sure, it was impressive, if you were a peasant! Londo, however, travelled across many worlds, seeing different sights and displays of art. They were just stuff to him at this point. However, as they walked closer and closer to the throne, Londo did gaze in amazement at the king. He had only seen this kind of raw power and kingliness once before, and that was when he tried to steal another king's crown in his original world! Ah, sweet memories... If only his companions were here to see this...

Wait... Londo tilted his head, companions? He didn't remember any of them, or at least, he didn't remember their names. Hopefully they'd come to him later, as his memories were still slowly returning to him, but the fact that he couldn't currently remember their names concerned him.

Hibiscus, meanwhile, was still in awe at the amazing throneroom, and the even more amazing King! She had only seen pictures of PICTURES of him! Seeing him in the live flesh was possibly the single-greatest moment of Hibiscus's life. Even though she didn't know much about the king, she knew how important it was for him to address them directly, and with interest too! He wasn't just a king looking to get a boring talk over with, he actually seemed to be interested in them! Londo noticed this too, and smiled smugly, knowing that a powerful king was seeming to acknowledge them.

Hibiscus and Londo noticed that their teacher was kneeling, and Hibiscus panicked, trying to think of what to do. Londo simply bowed, lowering his head in respect. Even he knew when to stand down at times. It wasn't as if he thought he was better than Gilgamesh, far from it, nor could he ever be better. What mattered to Londo would be that he would be STRONGER. Maybe not now, but Londo would definitely find a way down the line! Alice bowed next to him as well.

Hibiscus finally decided that curtsying would be the best way to proceed, and did so, shaking slightly in embarressment and fear. She hoped she wouldn't get punished too harshly for not bowing immediately...

Once the king asked for their names, surprisingly, Londo did not give his first. Hibiscus named herself after other students, "M-My name is Hibiscus Oswald, sir... A-And my fairy is named Lyka..." She responded, to which no response came from Lyka, as she was still in a mood from no alcohol.

Alice gave a simple reply, "Alice." and after everyone said their introductions, Londo pointed to himself all high and mightily, "I, am Londo, the GREAT!" He said, sporting a triumphant smile and pointing at the king, "I'm gonna work to be stronger than you one day, in the name of Cadwgan!" Before planting his hands on his hips and smiling smugly.

Alice sighed and buried her face in one of her hands, preparing for the death penalty already.

Almeida

Having debated the nature of existence for over a month for a while, Almeida came to the conclusion that she was actually feeling sort-off nervous. It wasn't exactly ideal, especially not considering she'd automatically moved along with the rest of the group and was already facing the king. The plentiful artwork in the place made her remember of the days during which she still dreamed of having a model of a building designed by her adorn the rooms, whereas the way she was addressed reminded her clearly of her current position as a mage instead. She followed along with the motions and knelled as well, hoping this would all be over soon. Sadly enough, it only got awkward, as Gilgamesh asked them for their names and for the names of their spirits. 'For fuck's sake I should brought him...' She realized that allowing Valerius to remain behind after having given him a nice polish might not have been the ideal move, but it was too late to change things.

Londo pulled a Londo with his introduction, but that wasn't surprising. The surprising part was that Hibiscus entered an infinitely regressing loop by saying she'd wait for non-existent other students to give their name first spoke up even before Londo. Almeida who forgot her last name by now decided to keep things short so that her voice would hold out under the stress. ”Almeida Magnhild, your majesty.” She passionately hoped that Valerius' absence wouldn't be pointed out.

Professor Okamoto
YeZktL3.jpg
OqxKXYm.jpg

Professor Okamoto breathed a sigh of relief as Ryan, Lavi, and, miraculously, Rainer all briefly and respectfully gave their names to King Gilgamesh. Hibiscus seemed rather nervous as she replied, but that was hardly surprising given both her personality and who she was speaking to. As each person spoke, King Gilgamesh focused his attention on them, nodding gently as acknowledgement of their names being heard.

But then, of course, there was no way that the string of reasonable introductions could have made it all the way through. Not when Londo was there, at least. Okamoto heaved a small sigh as she heard Londo boldly proclaim that he would become stronger than the Immortal King himself.

"Heh," A small chuckle escaped the king’s lips, followed a moment later by King Gilgamesh bursting out laughing. "Hahahahahaha! Londo ‘the Great’, was it? Haha, with confidence like yours, I have no doubt that you will become a great Mage. I pray that you live up to your moniker, young man."

The King gently flicked his hand, and the genial giant beside him stepped forward. "In gratitude for your services to our great city, I now bestow upon you the blessings of the god of Life. May this power serve you well in your future endeavors." While Dian Cecht spoke, he spread his arms out wide, as if inviting the Mages in for an embrace. As he did so, a soft, comforting warmth and faint divine light surrounded the Mages for a few seconds before fading.

(All Mages present have gained 2 Character Points (CP) and +50 to a Statistic of their choice.)
(In addition, Londo, Hibiscus, Almeida, and Ryan feel the first kindlings of new power within)

Dian Cecht stepped back again, and King Gilgamesh rose up to take the center of attention once more. He gestured for the Mages to rise."People of Uruk! These Mages and their brethren are the champions of our land! Even in the face of new and unfamiliar dangers, they did not falter, but stood firm and defended our fair city from this evil onslaught!

Yesterday, we mourned the loss of loved ones. Today, we rebuild our city. Tomorrow, let us feast and celebrate these Mages and the many other noble warriors whose courage protected us all!"

Though there were no cameras or microphones visible in the majestic throne room, one could assume from the King’s speech that it had been broadcast somehow. King Gilgamesh remained put for a moment after finishing speaking, then he nodded to Professor Okamoto and the Mages. On silent command, Professor Okamoto rose, and spoke softly to the Mages: ”We’re done. Back the way we came in.” She’d then lead the group out of the throne room.

Once all of the Mages had departed and the doors had closed behind them, Okamoto breathed a sigh of relief. ”Good job everyone. The cars we rode in on will take us back to the Academy. From there, you all are free for the rest of the day.” A brief walk through the palace and a short drive back through the city streets, and they were back at the Academy, hopefully without incident. Okamoto thanked each of the drivers for their service before heading off into the Academy herself, leaving the students to their own devices for the day.

Ryan Gamaris

8Iisnn9.jpg

This whole royal meeting business had Ryan quite on edge. He sat quietly throughout the whole trip, sticking to Almeida as much as possible, without having Tidrog become suspicious. He did his very best to maintain a low profile, repressing all the emotions rushing in, in order to control the fear and uneasiness. Once he actually got to meet the king, and introductions were in order, he managed to not screw up and give a half decent introduction. Despite his somewhat uncivilized appearance, Tidrog did a great work at doing the professional bit, even in the few words he actually uttered.

Ryan gave a worried glance at Almeida once he realized this was being somehow broadcasted, but returned to his attempt at a poker face rather quickly. Thankfully, that was mostly it. As Yuki instructed them to leave, once outside the presence of the royal staff, and into the cars, Ryan breathed a sigh of relief. Very discreetly, he sent a quick text to his emotional support back there. She may have not been overly protective, but that was fine. Tidrog surely didn't notice.

--"Thanks for having my back there! :)"

Once the cars, and Yuki, left them to their own devices. Ryan was swift to head back to his room. More tranquil than ever, thanks to all the pressure of this event being over, Ryan started to mull over it. More specifically, the strange sensation he felt when Dian Cecht acted upon them. Once in more casual clothes, Ryan asked Tidrog "I felt something strange, back at the King's audience" Tidrog was quick to catch on "You feel stronger, no?" Ryan nodded, as he leaned against a wall, thinking through the possibilities his next question might ensue "Do you think I can channel more of your power, now? I feel that, whatever that god did to me might let me do so..." Tidrog frowned, then slowly locked eyes with Ryan "We can try, but I can't promise you it won't end like other times. No result, and maybe some pain." Ryan appeared dead serious as he considered it, before nodding.

Sitting on his meditation pose, back against back with Tidrog, both closed their eyes. Silence filled the room, save for their slowly coordinating breathing. A few moments passed, with nothing remarkable happening, just their usual exercise of magical transference. Soon enough, however, Ryan started to feel the extra power flowing into him. He focused to maintain said energy flow stable. Focus, focus, and more focus, until he gave a deep exhale "I think... We did it!" both got up, and faced each other with a smile "Wanna test it?" said the spirit, to which Ryan didn't even respond. He summoned Kashmir, and faced it. Both then released a tandem Accel Blitz in a perfect synchronization of kicks. Ryan beamed with joy "That felt so much lighter! Kashmir is a bit harder to summon. But I could tell. He's improved as well!" Tidrog just nodded and smiled, letting Ryan practice some more throughout the afternoon, testing the extent of their new combined strength...

Ezio Aldron

JAZQDZt.jpg

As usual, Ryan was up early. He was about to go for a quick jog, when his AMB got a notification. None other than the Headmaster. Personally summoning them for an assignment. "Must be something really important" he thought aloud, as he immediately got a good shower and dressed up for the assignment, equipment ready to go, too. Tidrog just saw Ryan move around, with concerns on how dangerous this might be as soon as Ryan informed him of the situation. Worries or not, both made their way to the Academy Strategic Operations Room, with the help of a map, that is. Eventually, they found themselves in front of a thick, reinforced door, with the label to match their destination. Ryan stood there, along with Tidrog, unsure of what to do.

From the opposite side of the hallway Ryan came from, a man slinging a sniper rifle on one shoulder and quite obviously his spirit on the other, approached Ryan. Xiao gripped one of his claws on Ezio, who gave him a quick glance, before turning to Ryan. "Good morning. Are you from 1-A?" Tidrog quietly nodded from behind Ryan, both as a greeting and as a confirmation, while Ryan, slightly startled, went with "Ah... Yes, I'm Ryan. And who are you?" A tighter grip from Xiao cued Ezio to reply "Right, right. Sorry. I'm Ezio. Apparently, now I'm your classmate" Preventing another painful squeeze, he quickly added "And this here, is Xiao. Nice to meet you, Ryan." Xiao bowed, and then spoke "Nice to meet you, both. May I have your name as well, fellow spirit?" Tidrog raised his eyebrows. What was with this overly polite tone? Well, it was better than the incomprehensible screeching from certain other spirits, so he wouldn't complain. "Mine's Tidrog, nice to meet you both as well" Foreseeing a somewhat awkward pause, Tidrog proposed "Anyway, shall we head in?" almost immediately. Ezio felt the awkwardness in the air, so he was also quick to take the offer. "Right on, let's knock or something. We are about 20 minutes earlier than assigned. But I doubt they'll be mad about that..." Ezio said, as he closed in on the door and knocked.

Londo Sperry THE GREAT!

Hibiscus Oswald

====================================================================

While everyone had thought Londo had screwed up bigtime, Londo knew he had not, as the king laughed and praised his outburst, strengthening Londo's narcissism tenfold! Hibiscus couldn't help but be impressed, and Alice merely sighed, knowing she'd have to put up with this the next few days.

After the king allowed them to become strengthened, Londo felt his bond grow with Alice more deeply, and knew he could perform more powerful magics with her while also knowing I'd have to change up my skills god dammit. The same for Hibiscus, and while Hibiscus felt happy, Lyka felt a little confused, as the memories she had sealed herself away from just became more apparent... But this wasn't something she could tell Hibiscus at the moment, or possibly ever. For now, Lyka glanced around the room, looking for an excuse to leave, which fortunately the teacher provided.

Along the way back to the car Hibiscus noticed that her walking tired her just a bit less, and she no longer felt like she was as unhealthy as she had before. Was this a result of the powerup that the god of Life had given them? Only time and a bit of training would tell.

Londo, meanwhile, posed smugly to the other students, who hadn't gotten praise directly from the king himself. If only they had been more outgoing, then they too would have been as smug as him! This smugness was only stopped by Alice grabbing him by the waist, carrying him into the car where he wouldn't be as smug in front of a crowd. Hibiscus followed them into that car. Silent the rest of the way, with the only sounds being possibly the other students, and the sounds of Londo's smugness filling the air, they finally reached the school, where Londo jumped, out, smelling the triumphant air, and leaving with Alice to go do... Stuff?... Until tomorrow.

Hibiscus, who had been wide awake during the time they were in the car, suddenly felt sleepy, and left for her dormroom, but Lyka did not follow, instead excusing herself to find the bar that spirits tended to go to. She only returned later after sorting out her thoughts, strangely silent and unresponsive to Hibiscus's questions...

August 6th, 8:45 AM

After recieving the summons, Londo and Hibiscus made their way to the room they were told to go. Upon their arrival, which strangely was at the same time, they saw a new person they didn't know talking to Ryan. Londo raised his hand in greeting and made his way to Ryan as the new guy knocked on the door, "Yo Ryan! Wassup? Who are ya talking to? Did ya sleep well! I know I did! Have to get in order my gloriousness to please the king!" Londo said, proudly hitting his chest and smugly posing.

Meanwhile Hibiscus yawned and said, "Good morning..." Too tired to respond to Londo's smugness.

Ezio Aldron

JAZQDZt.jpg

Almost as soon as Ezio knocked, more voices came their way. Ryan noticed some more of his classmates arriving. First, of course, was the ever energetic. Ryan smiled as he saw him, though not being as energetic, Ryan still tried to convey he was happy to see him as he tried to answer the small barrage of information "Heyy, Londo! Glad you slept well, I did so too. And yeah, that was quite the thing you did there, very impressive!" he answered as he waved at him. "Morning Hibiscus! you too, Lyka. He added, in a more calm tone, noticing her lack of energy. That left one question. "As for him, he's... Um" Ryan thought it would be kind of rude to introduce someone he just met, so he just turned to Ezio. Meanwhile, Tidrog greeted the newcomers with a nod and a smile.

Ezio, on his side, just observed the exchange of greetings. This Londo might be an issue, but perhaps it was too early to judge. While Hibiscus seemed pretty manageable. Given a cue to speak Ezio thought aloud "It may be better if I just wa-ow!" Xiao gripped Ezio rather painfully as he cleared his throat. Seeing Ezio fail, Xiao put the task of greeting his partners upon himself. "Apologies for the rudeness. My name is Xiao, and this human's name is Ezio. We were just assigned to your class. I hope we can get along well." with the formal tone he uses most of the time. Ezio sighed, "So do I... Are there many of you left to arrive? "

Footsteps down the corridor alerted the small group already gathering by the door of another student approaching the Operations Room. The youth was an unfamiliar face to these halls, yet not unfriendly. His long, blonde hair was brushed into a ponytail and his grey eyes shone with a hint of mischief. He had on a lavish crimson jacket with a white cravat, white pants, and long leather boots embossed with golden thread that came up to his thighs.

The new student walked up to the group of four with a confident gait and a warm smile. "Greetings! Since there seems to be a gathering of handsome individuals here, would I be correct in assuming this is the room students were supposed to report to?"

Ezio’s fist descended upon the steel door, the dull thud echoing through the hallway. Presumably because of how early they were, though, there was no answer to be had, or at least not for a while longer.

Several minutes and several new arrivals later, the appointed time had come. Almeida and Violet both made their appearances among the group just in time for a section of the wall to open up and produce a camera. After a brief inspection by the camera of those gathered, the heavy steel door slid open. Another corridor greeted them, with a similar steel door at the far end. Once all had entered, the door they came through slid shut and the far door opened. Something seemed… off about the corridor, but it would be difficult to just casually identify precisely what.

Headmaster Kazuya Miyamoto
DgrNM5H.png

fvwD6QN.jpg

As the Mages emerged onto the highest level of the steel balconies, they saw Headmaster Miyamoto looking out at the massive display, which showed an airship at the Academy's dock being loaded with supplies.

"Welcome, Mages. I trust that you have all been acquainted. If not, you'll have plenty of time later." He gestured out to the airship on display. "In approximately one hour, you all shall be boarding that airship. Know that this was not originally my idea, but a command from His Majesty himself. Those of you who he did not meet with directly are here to supplement the others, as some of their fellows have unfortunately found themselves unavailable.

"His Majesty has commanded me to send you all on a voyage across the kingdom, to acquaint yourself with its peoples and places. Naturally, his commands must be followed, but I am not about to waste an entire airship just so you can take a cruise. You will periodically be sent missions as you travel, and will be expected to resolve incidents in your area as best you can.”

The Headmaster snapped his fingers, and an operator shifted the great display to a map of the kingdom. The perspective skimmed across the map to focus on a region to the northeast of the kingdom, where a small city rested on the outskirts of a forest that climbed up into the nearby mountain range. "This area will be your first destination. As at least Hibiscus should know, we are monitoring this area. There is a special prison sealing away some powerful spirits in the area, and we believe that some of their servants are attempting to unleash their masters. You will stop by the city of Elnai to gather information on the area and secure any supplies or assistance you need. Then, you will proceed to the prison to check the status of the seals. Once you have completed this mission, further instructions and a new flight plan will be relayed.”

With his explanation finished, the Headmaster turned to look at the group of Mages. "Now, do you have any questions you would like to ask?”

Surprisingly, there was no reaction to his knock at all. Bigger fans of precision rather than politeness? He pondered as the new arrivals came. He didn't add much to what he had already said until the door finally showed some signs of acknowledging their existence, right on time too. "Precision it is then" he thought to himself, as he ventured into the strange corridor. He observed the walls very intently as he walked, they had something weird about them. He couldn't pinpoint what exactly what was it, though. He considered giving magic a shot, but if there were scanners of some sort, that might be detected. It was his first day here, he didn't want to be caught looking into others' business for now.

Upon passing by the second steel door, Ezio couldn't help but whistle at the scale and tech degree of this operations room. He was used to paper maps and simple earpieces. Quite the contrasting difference. He glanced at the airship on the main display. So they were travelling, huh? He turned his head back to the headmaster quickly, and listened to the debrief. As for his first point, he certainly hoped so, he barely knew the name of a couple of them. And these kids, and the well endowed lady, had known each other for quite some time now. Knowing your team was very important, so he was already a liability in that regard. It also seemed he was a replacement, which made a lot of sense, if the King wanted this, he'd want it done as best as possible. So maybe, there were bigger liabilities he was filling in for.

The headmaster then confirmed his hunch, though it was to a larger scale than he had anticipated. They were to be some sort of travelling task force in training, doubling as the students they were supposed to be. Which one was more significant was clear, at least for the headmaster. And just like that, they already had their first mission set for them. Looks like the young one with lavender hair had screwed up somehow, and they needed to right the wrong. Nothing too elaborate.

It was now time for questions. Based on the size of the ship, he had a pretty good guess on whether or not they were going to have permanent reinforcements. But other than that, he was new to operating as a mage. So he allowed the rest of the group to ask things that may not have occurred to him as important, if at all.

Ryan Gamaris

It definitely took a while for the door to react, but almost as if on cue, one Almeida and another girl arrived, and the wall sprouted a camera of sorts. It observed for a minute before allowing them pass. Ryan was a bit surprised by this, were they watching from somewhere else and waited for everyone to come? Well, not everyone. Several of his classmates were missing. Some he had not seen since the night of the invasion. He decided to leave those concerns for later, as he rushed into the strange passageway. He felt off in it, so he tried his best to get to the other side fast.

Ryan's eyes widened in shock at the sight of such a room, he felt quite out of place, in all honesty. His awe had to wait though, as the headmaster immediately bombarded them with their new mission and some information. Ryan took some time to internalize it. First, looks like they had two new classmates... And something happened to the others. Were they alright? For one, he couldn't blame Elisa for not wanting to take part in these things after what Yuki did to her. Not wanting to delve into the reserved anger he had against his teacher for now, he moved on.

A voyage... to meet people? Was it due to their deeds of the other day? It felt a little unfair, they were far from the only ones who helped, and probably some had bigger challenges to handle than a pack of angry goblins. They just happened to be lucky enough to find the supposed mastermind, but that's that. Luck. And it sure didn't seem like there were students from other classes here, so a 'school project' seemed unlikely.

Finally, there was his actual first assignment as they travelled. Strong spirits wanting to release themselves from a prison, which Hibiscus knew about. Had this something to do with the spirit Yuki fought the other night? Ryan had not much to think there, seemed simple enough. Now then, time for questions. Quite obviously, Ryan had several, but feeling intimidated by the situation, he settled with one he thought wouldn't stir much trouble. "When are we coming back?"

Almeida

The meeting with the king had gone by with surprisingly few casualties, so Almeida had been able to return to her daily life in peace. Well, peace was an overstatement, as she was going straight back to training. If the last events had shown her anything, it'd be that she still wasn't swinging Valerius around fast and forcefully enough. She didn't quite like all the praise and attention, as it felt like coincidence had been a far bigger factor in their success than skill.

Almeida woke up to a message, realizing she had only a few minutes to get ready and enter the Academy Strategic Operations Room. 'The one day I decide to sleep in...' She quickly put on some clothes and figured she'd bring Valerius along, as this sounded important enough for him to listen in on. Upon arrival, she quickly smiled and nodded towards the three familiar faces, Londo, Hibiscus and Ryan. She left introductions towards the other two for later, as the Headmaster was already speaking up. While she was still on time, it was barely so, and she was looking as if she'd just gotten out of bed, with a bad case of bed hair, mostly due to the fact that this was exactly what had happened.

Apparently they were going on a journey... in an hour? That was not a lot of preparation time, especially not considering she'd finally been making some friends of her age among her seniors. That said, a command from the king himself clearly wouldn't allow for pleasantries, such as saying goodbye to friends or family. With regards to their actual mission, there was one question that stood out instantly, so she raised her hand and awaited her turn to ask it. “Is someone with knowledge on those seals included in the assistance we're getting in Elnai, or is it up to us to figure out how to assess them?”

Janus Hindemith

Upon the opening of the door, Janus stepped aside and let those he assumed to be his seniors pass. If he felt anything off about the corridor, he certainly did not make it known- his gait and body language showed no signs of faltering as he walked behind the rest of the group.

"The Academy certainly has quite the budget, don't they?" mused Janus to no one in particular as he walked into the room, eyeing the many employees below them and the large, three dimensional map display.

A man with flowing long black hair awaited them, and with the man's dress and serene conduct, Janus could take a guess at the identity of the man despite never meeting him in person prior. The blonde-haired youth kept a straight face during most of the Headmaster's speech with the exception of a slight raise of an eyebrow at the mention of the King's direct influence in the mission that he and his classmates were about to partake in. Afterwards, Janus waited for everyone else to air their questions before taking a step forward.

"Thank you for the briefing, Headmaster Miyamoto. After you are done answering everyone else's questions, may I ask for a bit of your time? Fifteen minutes should be enough."

There were a few questions asked by the Mages. First was Ryan's. "Your voyage will continue as long as necessary to fulfill His Majesty's command and to complete any missions you are assigned. Should the situation call for it, you may be summoned back to An Chead Toshi. Otherwise, your vessel will reprovisioned as needed while you travel."

Almeida's question came next: "A drone is being prepared in the main communications tower of Elnai, which will be able to measure the seals' integrity. Normal humans and Spirits are not capable of passing through the seals, so you Mages will be the ones to escort the drone through the seals. I am told that they will also include an instruction manual, so there should not be any trouble on that front.

"There are a number of seals, and you are expected to analyze as many of them as possible. However, be warned that the spirits contained within are stronger the deeper in you go. Use your own judgement, and if you feel that it would be too dangerous to continue, return to the surface. Prioritize the safety of the device and it's data above all else."

Finally, the Headmaster turned towards Janus. "Yes. If ther are no other questions, then the rest of you are dismissed. Gather any supplies you desire, and report to the dock in an hour."

With no further questions, the briefing was concluded. All the Mages except Janus, who stayed for a private chat, left to go about their business. Ere long, an hour had passed and the Mages had all reconvened at the airship dock, where the UAS Royal Pioneer floated. Just before the ship stood a large metal figure in oddly tattered clothing.

”Welcome, Mages." The robotic man gave a salute as he addressed them with a slightly metallic bass voice. ”I am Weaver, the First Mate and Tactical Officer of the Royal Pioneer. Our Captain will arrive shortly. Until then, feel free to familiarize yourself with the ship, introduce yourself to the crew, and so on. Or if you prefer to keep to yourselves, your cabins should be prepared already. The bridge is in the aftcastle of deck one. The crew's quarters are on deck two. Deck three has your quarters and the mess hall. Deck four has the engine room, medical room, armory, and so on. Deck five is our cargo hold."

His explanation complete, Weaver gestured for the Mages to follow him into the airship. Weaver himself would head for the aftcastle to enter the bridge, leaving the Mages free to do their things.

There was something odd about their mission. If spirits weren't able to go through the seals, they'd be entering possible enemy territory without their trusted companions and source of magic. Almeida probably wouldn't be too disadvantaged, but the others might have a harsh time without their spirits, especially if things were to go wrong. It's probably why they were allowed to return to safety by their own discretion, rather than forced to inspect all seals.

As they were meeting up near or on the airship, Almeida figured she'd introduce herself to the two new faces (Janus, Ezio). “Hello~ I'm Almeida, sorry I didn't introduce myself earlier, but I figured it was best not to interrupted the headmaster. I'm assuming the two of you will be joining us for the entire trip? Did you just get picked up by the specters or were the two of you transferred from somewhere else?”

She was a bit surprised by the type of person greeting them at the airship, being a fair bit more metallic than she expected, but it didn't stop her from being polite. “I'm Almeida Magnhild, this here is Valerius. We'll be in your care.” She said, making a slight bow afterwards. If there was anything she knew from her time in the army, it was that it was generally best to be on friendly terms with those that you relied upon for shelter, transport and food.

She also figured she'd go explore the ship a bit, starting with whatever deck they entered onto or into, but not before listening to Ezio's and Janus' names/answers (were they not to ignore her at least) and stating her intentions to them and the others. “I'm going to look around and greet everyone, if anyone wants to join me, feel free to do so~”

Ezio Aldron

Ezio remained silent for the small remainder of the briefing, simply nodding his head after the usual prompt from Xiao. He decided to go for a walk on the hour he had left on the academy he barely had the chance to know. Maybe once they'd come back, he'd have the chance to properly learn this whole mage business. For now though, it would seem like he'd need to learn on the go. He quickly went to his room, where his few belongings were still mostly unpacked. Gathered it all back up in his duffel bag and went to the airship dock.

While waiting for the ship to allow them in, the student closest to his age, at least by the looks of it, came to introduce herself. Ezio smiled at her "Hello! Fa-... Ezio, don't worry about it. And as far as I know, yes." He then sighed "Yeah... The Specters just carried me out of my unit. Didn't even unpack."

Ezio would've carried on with a conversation, but a metallic fellow was ready to greet them. He saluted back at the guy, unsure on how to greet back, unfamiliar with the academy's customs. Though given what he has seen so far, it appeared to be a pretty militarized place anyway. Following Almeida's example he introduced himself "Ezio Aldron, and my partner is Xiao. Pleasured to make your acquaintance."

Having said that, Almeida took the initiative to go and greet the crew, which sounded like a great idea. Xiao had been particularly silent, so Ezio took a glance to his shoulder. The avian simply nodded. Seeing as Xiao had no objections, he took upon his new crewmate's offer "Sure, I'll go with you".
