There is a place where children spend their days playing in the seemingly endless sunshine and sleeping under a star filled sky without fear. They know no more than the pain of a scraped knee or a gentle reprimand from watchful parents. Where teenagers swoon and are in no danger further than falling prey to a wistful heart. Where growing up is full of joy and wonder, not humiliation and pain. Where adults gather together as a giant family to raise their children and provide for each other.
This place is Varsha. A land that is home to seven major clans composed of an eclectic collection of were-creatures. Peace has reigned between the clans for as long as anyone can remember and the network of alliances holding the groups together is strong. Varsha stretches as far as any were-creature has ever travelled and is a lush land of forests, lakes and mountains. Food is plentiful and danger is scarce...non existent even. At least, it has been for the past hundred centuries.
But now a darkness has come over the valleys of Thyme, home to the third clan. Children have begun disappearing and the elders have grown restless. When Aleeyah, the thirteen year old daughter of one of the elders goes missing a call is sent to the other clans requesting a meeting of the elders. It is at this meeting where Shyla; Aleeyah's mother, discovers that the other clans have lost children too.
What is this new danger? Who, or what, is stealing the children of the clans and how can it be stopped. As clan members it is your responsibility to find and face this evil...before the future of the Clans is lost.
1st Clan:
Village: Avens
Landscape: Mountainous
Elders: Kahn, Adeara, Darine
Were-creatures: Kanine
Culture: The were-wolves of Avens are a battle-minded people much like the warriors of Grease or Rome. Their villiage is militaristic but not for the fighting advantage that would cause a military government on Earth. Considering that there has been peace for the entire history of Varsha, the werewolves learn to fight so as to stay fit and be more efficient hunters; the werewolves' hunger surpasses all other weres. The werewolves' skills will be put to the test in the future months, hopefully they'll be up to the challenge.
2nd Clan:
Village: Cassia
Landscape: Lake-side
Elders: Alysia, Maara, Alune
Were-creatures: Aquatic
Culture: The Aquatic weres of Cassia spend as much time within the lake their village borders as they do on land. Perhaps more considering that a majority of their home is underwater. Though the Aqua-weres are comfortable on land, they made their home within the lake for convenience and privacy. Little did they know that it would serve to protect them as well. Living underwater limits the landbound technology the other clans have but the Cassians have mastered water power to an extent that puts them at the head of the technological chain.
3rd Clan:
Village: Thyme
Landscape: Hills and valleys
Elders: Shyla, Karin, Rya
Were-creatures: Avian (Birds)
Culture: The wise and graceful Avians are the scholars of the Clans. Their extensive libraries hold the history of the entire world of Varsha. The ability to fly allowed for detailed maps of the landscape as far as any Varshian has travelled and each Clan had a library of its own holding volumes of history, skills and talents. The dedicated minds held by the citizens of Thyme has allowed them to push the limits of reality. Though nothing has been confirmed by the other Clans, it is rumoured that the Avians may have mastered certain magics along the lines of telekenisis, telepathy, and astro projection.
4th Clan:
Village: Kala
Landscape: Hills and valleys
Elders: Alura, Lynna, Karii
Were-creatures: Feline
Culture: The Kalans are very laid back people. Unlike most of they other Clans they don't have specific groups of people that handled different village tasks, instead they each took week-long turns to keep them from becoming bored. Though they are unaware of it, the diversity of this lifestyle has and will serve them incredibly well. Instead of having a speciality, each werecat was skilled in every aspect of living. The only task that did not pass hands was leadership, considering the intricacy of Clan diplomacy.
5th Clan:
Village: Sorrel
Landscape: Plains
Elders: Daas, Nyssa, Chikk
Were-creatures: Reptilian/insectoid
Culture: The cold blooded were living in Sorrel have created domes that are a strange mix between pyramids and hives. Though the court is ruled by the three elders, most of the culture is similar to that of ancient Egypt. The Sorrelians have advanced agriculturally beyond the other Clans, even implementing successful city-wide irrigation in the past fifty years.
6th Clan:
Village: Paracress
Landscape: Plains
Elders: Zedar, Tara, Kheldar
Were-creatures: Rodent
Culture: The logical Paracressans have developed very little of their own. Though they are without a doubt the most brilliant of the were-creatures, they have found that combining the other Clan's lifestyles has made theirs more than comfortable. Paracress is made up of a ring of domes surrounding a small lake which feeds their irrigation. They also use their lake water to power a few of the smaller mechanisms the Avians are having trouble powering. Also stolen from the people of Thyme, Paracressans keep histories of themselves and the other Clans but not to the extent of the Avians. One might almost say that they were predisposed to spying on the other Clans. More for fun and technological advancement than anything malicious however.
7th Clan:
Village: Rue
Landscape: Mountainous
Elders: Hettar, Tira & Kira (twins)
Were-creatures: Mammals excluding feline and canine.
Culture: Native American in nature due to the extensive population of anthropomorphic horses. The Ruians are somewhat nomadic, leaving the camp to travel for months at a time in order to follow herds. Unlike most nomads, however, they always return to Rue. The Ruians are the most eclectic of the other clans; the misfit clan. But this diversity allows them to discover unique ways to work together and that teamwork has created a strength and loyalty within this open-minded Clan that gives them a heart the other Clans lack.
(Typically were-creatures of certain types stick together but if your character was raised with a different species that's fine.)
