The Secret World

Sean walked close to Kaeli as they were led, for the second time in 48 hours, to meet with the queen. Sean was angry, but he knew that Kaeli wanted him to be in his best behavior, in other words, no fire. His fists were clenched as they went into the large hall and waited for the queen. She came out, with a very serene look on her face. Sean thought this to be a little strange since they had early escaped.

"I hope you are both doing well, I heard you had a run in with the Demonic ones, the ancient defendants of the aliens that attacted the planet all those years ago. They call themselves saviors, but really what they want is for us all to die."

Sean listened as the Queen spoke, distrust in his eyes. Sean didn't fail to notice the fact that the Saviors did NOT kill them even though they had the chance. This made him think that the story they told, about the Queen wanting to use Kaeli as a weapon, was not so far off.

Sean Stood, angry and ready to kill.

"What the fuck do you want from us!"
The guards gasped and reached for their weapons, but the Queen stopped them with a wave of her hand.

"Her." Said the Queen "The Goddess! She is our only hope to defeat them. There is no way we can convince you, you'll have to just trust us.

Sean stood, still very un-trusting of the queen.

"I apologize for his mouthiness your majesty... he's.." She closed her eyes for a moment, pouring calm to Sean's nerves, something she hadn't had to do in a while. "He's all I ever had that was good on our last home-world. So even if his distrust expands across the far galaxies, his intentions are from his heart."

She scowled at Sean, letting him know he wasn't off the hook! "Sean, please, for just a moment, -stay focused. stay calm- I need you to back down on the temper for just a bit, okay? I promise,... if everything is actually against us, then I'll let you have fun, but not until we've found somewhere safe.." She turned to the queen again. "I've heard that I'm a goddess...... that I can defeat the enemies.. but. I still am not sure how.-" She said, locking eyes on the queen's.

She was going to get answers somehow, but definitely -not- through violence! .....Yet.

Sean felt the top of his head heat up, and his fingers curled into the ball of a fist. However, he did not argue. Instead he sat down. It seemed that some of the guards near the queen wanted to throw Sean out of the Kingdom, by the scruff of his neck. If it wasn't for Kaeli, they sure of hell would have tried too. He gave them a evil look that said 'If you want me, come get me' Sean would have loved to fry them alive in their armor, he would have loved it.

The queen looked unphased by Sean's outburst as she turned to answer Kaeli's Question.

"I am afraid that that information has yet to reveal its self, but just as sure as I breath it is truth. Will you not stay here and defend our world? I cannot offer you any protection if you decide to leave." She looked at Sean, knowing that he very much wanted to leave.

"Please, Trust us. You heard the legend, and are aware of our plight. For know this is all we know."

Sean stirred in his seat. He would try his hardest to escape again, If Kaeli would go with him that was.

Kaeli squeezed Sean's hand, hard. "We'll stay... majesty.. I won't let him smuggle me out like last time, unless there's good reason." She added to also placate Sean. Jeez, having such a temperamental boyfriend was difficult sometimes! But she wouldn't leave him for anything. She had a hard time, with this trust thing, but really...what other choice did they have?

It looked like they'd be living in the palace, at least for a little while.~

The queen smiled, obviously pleased that they had made the choice that they did, now she wouldn't have to lock them up, or worse, throw them out and into the hands of the demonic ones.

"Very well, we will escort you to your quarters." She looked directly at Sean, who was still angry, but not as much as a moment ago. "This room will be nicer with better amenities, perhaps you'll be happier here."

With that, the two were led down a series of marble halls and doors to a room with huge double doors. Sean realized that he couldn't remember how exactly they had gotten there, as it was deep within the bowels of the castle. Once inside, however, Sean quickly forgot his beef. The room was five stars all the way. It was huge! There was a kitchen, two bathrooms, a balcony over looking the land and a wrap around couch in the living room.

"Well, I guess this isn't so bad." Said Sean hugging Kaeli tightly "I guess I am just glad were safe now."

Kaeli had to agree. Especially with the king sized rose-colored bed just a few feet across from the couch. There were scenic pictures on the moonstone walls, and plush carpeting of light green on the floor. "It even has a fire place, and our own refrigerator...Wonder what's in here to drink.." She opened the door of the fridge and found plenty of cold cuts for sandwiches, bread, veggie platters, dips, salads in bags, salad dressing, even cheese strings, and tons of soda, and bottles of water. "Well, at least we're on their good side...I don't think we'd be very happy on the queen's bad side... so be careful, okay Sean?" She said, tossing him a coca cola.

Some things, even in different worlds, never changed. But she was definitely pleased with this room, and could stay in it for quite a while!

The sun was setting outside the Kaleidoscope Kingdom, casting orangish-red light over it's vast walls and many peaked ridges. Through the window, faded light danced on the walls, reflecting off the window pane as Sean walked over to the large french style doors that led to the balcony. He opened them and walked out, taking a deep breath. The air was sweeter here than back on earth. It was fuller, richer, more breathable for lack of a better term. Sean thought about Earth for a moment, and all the shit they had been through since their departure. Sean made a decision at that moment: He would try his best to keep his temper in check, if not for his own safety, then for Kaeli's.

He turned from the balcony and faced Kaeli.

"I promise to be careful, K." He sometimes called her K, as a shortened version of her name "And if at all possible I will cooperate with the Queen in order to get us out of here." He took a glance in the fridge as she opened it and spotted a bunch of frozen steak and ice cream "I guess it isn't so bad here, either."

"Good, Sean.. I just hope we can figure things out soon... Who'd've thought an orphan like me could be a goddess?" She smirked a bit, and went over to stand next to Sean, leaning her head on his shoulder, also enjoying the fresh air. It was a million times better than any of Earth's polluted air, that was certain. It sort of made her giddy.

"We have to stay away from those satanic people too..." She said, sighing slightly. If only situations would stop being so stressful! She didn't even know what she wanted anymore. Did she really want to go back to Earth? Or stay here and possibly find out more about her mysterious past?

Sean nodded in response. He still didn't trust any of these people, but at the same time he believed them. Since the first time he ever laid eyes on Kaeli, he knew there was something different about her, something special, something....from another world. Her hair, while in the soft light of a sun rise, looked different than other girls. Her skin was by far more radiant and her eyes; Unmistakably one of a kind. Sean thought that maybe he had been in denial, there was no question about it: She was a goddess.

Sean kissed her on the head and went to lay down on the bed. Against the wall were multicolored lights shinning in from the sun reflecting of the walls of the outside castle and it's kaleidoscope walls.

"Man, I am hungry...Also, I wish this place had TV."

"Maybe they do somewhere, Sean... but we wouldn't recognize any of the shows I'm sure." She smiled, holding his hand a while and then deciding to oven-bake a frozen pizza she found in the freezer. "This should tide us over for a while.. at least they have similar food like on Earth." She settled close to Sean while the pizza was cooking, and made sure to keep track of the time so it wouldn't burn.

"Do you think...The queen will have me practice my magic here? I sure need the extra training..it wouldn't hurt for you to train your fire either, pyro-boy." She added with a teasing smile.

The smells of delicious pizza filled the room, and once again, Sean was carried back to earth, and more than that, to the reality he knew to be true. The urge to burn everything right to the fucking ground was strong, but he had to contain it, not for himself, but for Kaeli. She was everything to him. She was the only thing he had left now, there was no question about that.

"Heh, yeah right. Like I need training." Said Sean sarcastically, but not at all mean spirited. That is just how he was. "I guess if you wanted to though, it wouldn't be a bad idea. But I still don't trust these fuckers."

The oven dinged and Sean got up, walking across the huge room and to the kitchen. He reached into the oven, no oven mitt needed, and pulled out the pizza. He got down two plates. Sean saw that they had gold etching on the backs. The letters 'KK' which Sean knew had to stand for, obviously, kaleidoscope kingdom. He cut Kaeli and himself two pieces each, then threw the plates on the table.

"Let's eat!"

She laughed at Sean's typical distrust and desire to burn everything. "I say we burn those satanic people. I don't want to be put to sleep forever." She grumbled, sitting down at the table, and letting her pizza cool by getting up again just to get two cans of soda for them. She sat back down and nibbled her pizza slice, loving the cheese and how good the crust was.~

"I want to burn them all to a blackened crisp." He smiled evilly, taking a monster bite of pizza. " According to those satanic dudes, the queen is going to go to war soon anyway. All I know is, if she thinks I am going to fight for her she has another thing coming. I only fight for me! Oh, and you of course." He kissed Kaeli on the top of the head. Outside the sun was gone and the sky was black. Sean was comfortable, full and more of less content. He thought that if they never got home, at least they could live in the castle or a fantastic Kingdom.

"I can't help but feel like a fuckin' prisoner! I guess that is my only problem here."

Kaeli smiled, and curled up on the couch with Sean after they'd finished eating and loaded their two dishes in the dishwasher, which looked pretty advanced. "Now, we can be peaceful, for right this moment. Which sadly means no burning anything for you, pyro-maniac. I'm rather liking the comforts of palace life, and see no reason to rush into any melodramatic decision for the time being... So, that means, when the queen gives us targets to fry, -I'll- be happy to help. I mean, look... on Earth we were complete -freaks- for having so much unusual magic, now it's like...we're the most wanted people. I say let's use our abilities for something good. And if we're still feeling like something isn't right, we can make another run for it." She told him, kissing his cheek and leaning against him comfortably. She felt a bit tired, but peaceful.

Sean wrapped his arms around Kaeli, thinking about how they used to hold hands while walking down the halls at school. Often times, before Sean got expelled for setting the locker room on fire, they would spend the lunch hour in some hidden corner of school. avoiding everyone else in the world. Sometimes, it was as if none of them even excised. It was kind of the same now, despite all the controversy this place had around it involving Kaeli, they were all alone and together. Sean smiled at this thought, but his heart answered back with sadness. Yes they were together, but this place was not home.

"I love you Kaeli, but this place is really driving me fucking nuts. It's like we are prisoners." He pulled her closer, kissing her back.

Just outside of the Kaleidoscope Kingdom, in the dead of night, an army gathered. The moon, which stood full and proud in the sky, sent bluish rays onto the scene that made the army stand against the green grass in between the castle and the forest. The Demonic troops, men shrouded in cloaks and vicious beasts with spiked, menacing armor. All at once they began to chant. It was a low, rhythmic chanting. It started off low and barley audible , but before long it grew to a thunderous roar that could not be ignored. Sean jumped out of bed and to the window.

"What do they want?"

Just then the door burst open as one of the guards ran in, face white, eye's bulging.

"The queen. She's been killed. We're under attack. Our orders are to protect the goddess at all costs!"
The guard approached Kaeli, but was met with a flame the size of a watermelon.

"Don't you lay a fucking hand on her, short stop. If she needs any protection, it won't be from you."

The guard backed off, but did not run. Sean looked into his eye's and saw that he was determined. He lunged at Sean with his arms outstretched, as if he were trying to give Sean the worlds biggest bear hug. Sean had no choice, this was no doubt a hostel act. He ignited the guard, completely engulfing him in flames, before kicking him back outside the door where he lay on the ground, burning to a blackened crisp.

Out side the chanting continued as the Demonic hordes advanced on the Kingdom. The two were now caught in between two armies in an all out war, and it appeared that both sides were against them now.

"Sean.. wait!" Kaeli cried, even as more guards rushed in to surround them. One grabbed her shoulders painfully, and she kicked him in the shins! "Ow! Let go damnit..! Where are you trying to take us?" She asked, at the same time, not sure how she could calm Sean! When his temper got started he was like an inferno, and unstoppable.

The demons outside seemed to be howling, and she knew she had to do something -fast- to stop their growing horde. She rushed to the balcony, knowing the demons were below, celebrating their freedom. In a moment, Kaeli's eyes closed, and she shot out bright purple spheres of energy from her hands, straight into the mass of demons, who promptly exploded upon impact! Most tried to run, but they weren't as fast or sharp as Kaeli. She kept attacking with vengeance, angry that they'd caused so much trouble!

Sean knew of Kaeli's powers, but he rarely got a chance to see them. They were very powerful, he knew that much, and as the Demon hordes quickly got blown away he realized that she was much more powerful than him. A true Goddess.

Sean threatened the guards who came in with a fistful of fire, he yelled as spit flew from his lips in a violent rage.

"I'll torch your asses! Get the fuck back!" The guards, seemingly more interested in their safety than carrying out the Queens last orders, turned and ran to meet the still advancing Demon hordes. Sean, enraged and hell bent, grabbed Kaeli's hand. "C'mon, lets get the hell out of here. If they want to kill each other, let them!" They ran down the stairs to the main entrance. The gates that led into the castle had been battered down by the Demons and the knights of the Kaleidoscope kingdom were fighting them tooth and nail. Sean turned, searching for another exit. He ran with Kaeli towards the kitchen and found a door leading to the northern edge of the castle. Just outside were horse stables, cows and pigs. Sean knew nothing about ridding a horse, but he did know that a scared animal will run away from danger. So he jumped on the largest, most agitated horse he could find before helping Kaeli up behind him.

"OK, Hold on. We're getting the fuck out of here." He lit his hand, sending a wave of fire from the end of his finger tips. He slapped the horse in the face with a scorching hand. The horse reared and took off like a bat out of hell.

And so, Kaeli, the Goddess and Sean the Guardian fled the Kaleidoscope Kingdom into the unknown void of this strange world.

Before Kaeli could really absorb the fact all the demons were gone now, and the guards were obviously terrified of Sean, she was grabbed, and then lead out of the palace! She wasn't sure she wanted to go, but with how strong Sean was, and how determined he was to leave, she had no choice in the matter, except to try to sit straighter in the saddle of the running horse, very confused! "Sean... we don't have anywhere to go." She pointed out as the miles seemed to fly past the horses' hooves.

She was scared, she knew that much. And getting a bit sore from being jostled on the horse, who was racing at break neck speed. "Can't we slow down and talk about this?" She asked, fidgeting just a bit. Things were really bizarre right now, and she hated doing anything reckless or without a sense of direction. They could travel for a while and end up starving, or dying off some place where no one would even find their bodies. That thought was certainly enough to make Kaeli pale and tense!

Sean, although mostly concentrating on the thunderous galloping pace at which they were moving, thought about Kaeli's words. 'They didn't have to go anywhere'. Did that mean she wanted to stay here forever? Did that mean that Kaeli, his friend and lover, wanted to stay in this fantasy world until their dying days? Sean often over thought things, so until they stopped and had a chance to talk he would just keep going. They rode like the wind, miles away from the castle as the night from the sky began to slowly fade and was replaced with the early essence of dawn. The sun peaked up over the hills that bordered the horizon to the east. Sean headed straight for them, stopping only once they had reached the top. Sweat pored from his neck and chest as he got off the horse and offered Kaeli his hand.

"Look, I am sorry if you didn't want to leave the Kingdom, but I could not stay there. And I can't live without you so.....I'm sorry." He glanced at her, trying to tell her with his eyes that he was indeed sorry.

Kaeli slid off the horse carefully, with Sean's help. She let the poor creature graze and take a long drink of water from a pond near by. "I just.. I don't know how we're going to survive on our own Sean. What if those Satanic people follow us? What if there's too many for you to burn? They could ambush us without some sort of protection..." She said, struggling to get her composure back.

"I know you were freaked. Hell, I'm -still- freaked... But, what are we going to do? We'll starve if we try to live here... " She pointed out, running a hand through her windblown hair.
