Name: Albert Leonhardt/Shota (He omits a surname on account of pretending to not know what it is. Not knowing where his family is and what they were like is a much simpler and more better explanation than a bogus one that can be tracked back and found false.)

Age: 14

Height: 5-2

Weight: 98 pounds

Personality: Albert/Shota is practical, smart alecky, and very good at breaking rules in every sense of it. That means disregarding them and being successful at doing it, extending to laws and traditional ways of doing things. He knows no concept of playing fair, only winning, something that was appalling to his family which expected him to do everything in traditional, gentlemanly manner. Over all things, he values independent success. That means no kowtowing and kissing up to others in hopes that they will drag him up the social ladder and no obeying tradition when he can smash it in order to win at whatever it is. He's so single minded in this that he threw away a comfortable life to become a thief. Albeit, he hadn't fully thought it through at the time, not entirely understanding the concept of difficulty that the rest of the world went through to live but his tunnel visioning and personal pride wouldn't allow him to go back. Instead, he set out to "win" against the world in the new place he'd gone to. To him, everything and everyone are just tools for him to get what he wants. Its nice when what he wants and what they want coincide but at the end of the day, he's looking out for number one.

The magical gift: Albert currently cannot control his magic outside small tricks and occasionally has little accidents with it. In a word, it is space magic, declared by his family unfit for anything better than parlor tricks. He can make small adjustments to the direction of small spaces like turning it around or making it teleport from one hand to the other. However, it only works with solid objects and they can't be too large or be moving too fast. He can't move anything to overlap with a significant solid object (Dust and whatnot won't interfere with it but he can't, for example, shift a knife inside a person) as the magic will just fizzle and fail to work. The biggest he can handle is a knife. Anything he's affecting has to be close to his hands, within about six inches. These parlor tricks can be very useful when it comes to cheating with dice or cards. At the point where he expands his abilities, he'll be able to increase his speed and move in some unnatural ways like changing directions midair by chaining together a bunch of short spacial shifts that each move him a few inches.

Bio: Albert is from a western city near the border and part of a middle class noble family (I'll flesh this out if you wish with names and whatnot but till asked, I'll leave it open ended so you can have your world the way you like it). In other words, they're the wannabes of the bunch, not completely irrelevant in politics but not a major force in it either. It is this group above all others that strives to move up, given a taste of being important and many from it stop at nothing to drag their influence and reputation into the big leagues. What that meant was that Albert's family, like many others, could reach near dictatory power in matters where a more powerful noble didn't care to step in but were meaningless once that happened. Pecking order. As such, the children were pushed and groomed to excel in politics and high class lifestyle possibly even more than the high class nobles as a lot of them took it all for granted. Special schooling, private tutoring, special extra-curricular lessons that included exquisite table manners, how to speak with authority and class, and how to curry the favor of higher nobility... Albert hated it all. Most of all, he hated the concept of not really having many friends as he was forcibly disassociated with anyone of lower class than him and most people of the same class as it was emphasized that it was best to work his way up, not to be content where he was. At the end of the day, it was very little about him and a lot more about the family honor and stature which he understood had value but had no intention to live his life as a puppet for them for it. For the first twelve years of his life, he endured the matter. There was no particular dramatic breaking point of any sort, no fancy story. He just packed a few things and left, sick of it, and headed over to the next city only to find that word of his disappearance had already reached there. Apparently, being an only child in such a situation warranted a frantic search worse than most criminals got. At that point, he decided that he was not going to get dragged back and left to the one place where he was sure they wouldn't be looking for him. He headed East and hopped the border. He hated riding on the coat tails of his family and was determined to make his own way even if he had to start from scratch to do it. Not having to go through all the ridiculous tutoring to learn how to act like a pompous fool was a plus.

Albert stuck out like a sore thumb. He looked, talked, and thought differently from everyone around him. The first thing he noticed in the East was that there was much less a matter of nobles and scrambling for power. There were clans of sorts that represented power and while there were squabbles within them, it wasn't the massive dogpile that it was in his home country. He didn't have quite as much time to adjust as he'd originally thought. Apparently, the East didn't like West currency too much even if he was sure the coins were innately worth something. The concept of hunger was drilled into him in a hurry and getting a job as a kid in a place where most people kind of steered clear of him wasn't too easy. He wasn't big enough to do hard labor and he wasn't inviting enough to be good for business. The only business that he really got anywhere with was thievery and gambling. Very perceptive and practical, Albert picked up the ins and outs of pickpocketing in a hurry and made use of having learned how to read people well in conjunction with his magic to swindle quite a few tavern patrons, not that he isn't skilled enough in games in his own right. He skips from village to village these days, having learned to blend in with his new environment with Eastern name (Shota), dress, traditions, mannerism, and a fitting accent. He can't do a whole lot about his looks other than cover up in a cloak and be dirty enough to pass for the street urchin he is.

Extra: Albert has long since discarded his more western clothes in favor of a style of dress most typical of an eastern street urchin. He has a pair of mismatching eastern knives, not too atypical of a thief, which he will openly use, plus one high grade ornate straight dagger with his family seal on it and a scabbard, probably about all he has left to actually prove who he is... not that he cares. On other topics, he started using black dye for his hair to blend in better once he could afford/steal it, mostly the latter so it wouldn't look odd. Despite being a thief, he was educated very thoroughly before he ran off and retains that. As a result, he's a lot more versed in science, politics, war, etc than the average kid and even most adults. He can read and write with no issues though he purposely makes his writing messy these days. He's also got a good nose for success and will make sure to get himself in with the right people though he'll usually try to stay as low key as possible. He pretends to have a familiar that he can't really fully make out (The lie will eventually develop into the "familiar" being a snake) and doesn't let anyone know that he has magic or what kind. Even after pretending to gain some ability with his fake familiar, he'll play it off as a speed enhancing trick, letting few if any people know what his real ability is. After all, information is power and letting people know your tricks isn't good for business.
