For a small group of friends life sucks and they wish for nothing more than an escape. Sadly living in the town Payson, Arizona opportunities don't pop up often. So, when life gives them a chance to leave their lives they all jump on. The road will be long and tough but, hopefully they will make it to there destination - New York.

Hello and welcome to The Runaway's, a small group roleplay dedicated to getting to the end. Here we will watch as our characters relationships, friendships, and selves grow until arrival in New York. The road will be tough since long drives probably suck, being cheated on defiantly sucks, and finding yourself is hard, but we will do this together!

This is a group of six roleplayers, six characters. (Three male and Three female). Each of them hold their own reasons for escaping the hell they once called a life and wanting to go to New York. However, dreams could change and any given time in the rp.

Rules

1. All Iwaku rules apply.
2. IC = drama, not OOC.
3. No godmodding, etc... Every character should have their weaknesses as well as their strengths.
4. Real face claims only
5. If you have an issue with drug and alcohol usage, social issues, different orientations, or anything of that sort, feel free to live now. On that note, steamy stuff has to fade to black and go to PM. I don't care if it's mentioned, just don't go beyond that. Please respect other people's boundaries as well.
6. Every character has an important role, so don't worry about your character not being important.
7. Please be literate.
8. Romance is encouraged, but it should not be the focal point for all relationships.
9. Originality is very much appreciated. Tell me your character's favorite color in your CS.
10. Do not physically maim another person's character without their permission.
11. You cannot be your own love interest, spouse, or anything of that sort. That kind of ruins the point of roleplaying.
12. Please note that I reserve the right to reject any character I feel is not up to standard.

♦ Closed Off: Due to past events Anastasia tends to close herself off from people, protecting what's left of her heart. She never truly lets people in, the closest anyone will get to her is being a friend. When she notices people getting close to her she usually stops the conversation or changes the subject.
♦ Proper: Thanks to how she grew up Anastasia has perfect manners and the perfect reputation with people. She has never once been inappropriate and tries her hardest to be polite to everyone.
♦ Confident: Confidence was drilled into Anastasia's head as a child. She just seems to always have that kind of aura around her.
♦ Blunt: Excuse her she doesn't know how to keep her mouth shut. It's true Anastasia is very blunt, she doesn't even mean too. It just happens. Don't worry though she does feel bad after she realizes what she's said.
♦ Intelligent: Another thing drilled into her head. Anastasia was taught may things as her family planned her future for her. Her family wanted her to be smart enough to help run the family business one day.

♦ Intelligent: Anastasia has an extensive amount of knowledge thanks to her family.

HISTORY
Childhood: Growing up was different for Anna. Coming from the towns wealthiest family Anna had expectations to meet and when she didn't meet those expectations she was punished. For Anna life wasn't easy, from having to live up to parents expectations and the fact that her father ignores her because she was born a female, to having to surpass her brothers to prove herself. Things never seemed to go the way she wanted.

Starting school she had even more things to live up to. Her brothers left there reputations behind and all she was ever known for was being there sister. Even being the top of her classes Anna was still in her brothers shadows. Her home life wasn't fairing much, her mother would punish her by beating and berating her. No one in her family ever questioned it when she showed up at dinner table with bruises.

Her middle school year came around and by then she had started cutting back on meals to the point it couldn't be called a meal. Anna's weight decreased drastically though the 2 years till she looked like a skeleton. Sadly her family, being the way they are, didn't ever notice her change till she collapsed in exhaustion. Finally noticing her condition Anna's parents quickly took her to the hospital, who then moved her to a mental institute. For 2 years she went in and out of the mental hospital till they said she was at a manageable weight.

When she was finally aloud back at school not many people wanted to still be friends with her, leading her to fall into a bad crowd. They pushed her into drinking and smoking. After her first couple drinks she was hooked. One after another she would down beer till she threw up. Her parents were disgusted with her but, she didn't care.

Like all other's she continued on with her life, become friends with the people she would one day runaway with. Anna drank her life away without a care in the world till she dropped in pain one day. After a visit to the hospital she found out one of her kidneys had failed her. After that day Anna was disgusted and wanted to never drink again

Now: Anna still gets beaten by her mother is she doesn't do anything perfectly, but she has been sober for a little over 5 months with the temptations to drink getting higher. It didn't help with her 'friends' trying to shove alcohol down her throat. She's fed up with it. She wants a new start, so she decides to join a group of her friends and escape to New York. Though some good has happened, she's gained 20 pounds and now weighs 102 instead of 82.

Why they want to leave: To get away from the abuse. Anastasia wants nothing to do with her family anymore. She just want a normal life, to get away from her habits. Not to mention she wants to get help. She wants to overcome her alcohol addiction and anorexia.

Skip is possibly the most rude, fiery asshole known to mankind. Nothing more than a lowly thug, really. Emotionless and rude to those around him, Skip has no desire for anyone but himself, and his own well being. Selfish, reckless, and mean, the only person Skip has ever shown affection to would be his younger sister, who may be just as bad as he. He steals, cheats, and lies, and with his impulsive behavior, it's a surprise he's not in jail yet. Temperamental to the core, Skip is hard to stand, let alone get close to.

Anybody with a personality of fire is really just warm and squishy on the inside. It's hard to crack his shell, but once you do, you will find a deep loyalty and love. He doesn't like showing his emotion, never wore his heart on his sleeve - and that's why you have to dig deep to find it.

Inner Personality: He feels terrible. He isn't confident, and he isn't outgoing, he just knows that if he acts that way, there's more of a chance that everyone around him will act the same way. HISTORY
Childhood: Clayton grew up in a dysfunctional family. He was basically raised by his older siblings. His dad was always so drunk, he was basically absent most of his childhood. Clayton never liked school, he always just wanted to dance, but they couldn't afford food every day, let alone dancing lessons. He taught himself what he could from things he would see on T.V. but he mostly just danced on his apartments rooftop. He was always bullied in school for being gay, and so he never really made a lot of friends. He mostly stuck to himself except for a few people that knew his older siblings. When he got into his freshman year of high school, he started to spend a lot of time in the gym, working out, or running the track. He worked at a grocery store, and his friend (his boss), got really close and new that he liked to dance. He got him an under the table job at a gay dance club. He was trained by a professional choreographer.
Now: He is the lead and most expensive dancer at the gentleman's club. He has been dancing there for two years. He moved out of his house with his family a year and a half before. This was due to the fact that he was given larger opportunities but his family didn't know he was a dancer.
Why they want to leave: His family recently tried to find him and they found out what he did for a living and he couldn't look them in the eyes. He fell in love with his boss but it was an incredibly abusive relationship and he doesn't have another way out. So with a broken heart, a broken spirit, and a fake smile, Clayton wants to go to New York, dance, and find a fresh start.

To most, Chiara can come off as a very moody person. She has moments when she can be excitable and unable to sit still due to her thirst for adventure or the fact that she thrives off of adrenaline rushes. She also has moments when she will suddenly be depressed or snappy or just not in the mood to talk about much. She can leave a lot of things unanswered and with Chiara, you can rarely expect a straight answer. Not unless she wants to give it to you, and when she does, it's usually in the harshest of ways. She is the life of every party, both envied and hated, but all this is just what she lets most people see.

To those that can put up with her moody personality and random bursts of energy and rebellion, they'll be able to see that inside lies a troubled person with massive trust issues and the inability to say many positive things in regards to just about anything. She would never admit it aloud but what she seeks is someone who'll listen and understand and make her feel like what happened doesn't have to shape the way her future turns out because she knows that if she tries to talk herself into it, she can also talk herself out of it.

- She is incredibly quick and agile. Having spent some time out in the streets, she's picked up a thing or two about making quick escapes and also a little slight of hand.
- Having been through so much, she is not hurt easily. She has a high physical pain threshold and she doesn't let things affect her. On the off chance that it does, it only means that the person involved meant a lot to her. And she usually tries to make sure that that doesn't happen.
- She has a way with words that can get her out of most situations -- while also getting her into them in the first place.

WEAKNESSES
- She has a loose tongue and an impulsive behaviour which means she's constantly getting in trouble, doing what she isn't supposed to.
- She's not very physically strong. She has a small stature which doesn't give her much body weight.
- She can't take things in her stride and she certainly never backs out of an argument or fight. She is often the one to initiate it.

SECRETS
- She was raped as a child by not only her step father but her first boyfriend as well.
- She was a coke-head for most of her teen years, and this was just along with being an alcoholic and a chain smoker.
- She was involved in a hit and run when she was high and fled the scene, unsure of what happened to the other person. She just knows it was bad.
- She's attempted to take her life more than once and has come close to overdosing twice.
- She used to deal drugs too but was forced to watch her partner in crime be shot when he messed up an order.

PAST
Chiara came from a shitty home. And that was putting it lightly. She's never known her biological father and she lived in a trailer park with her mother and younger brother Louis. Well, technically, her half brother. He didn't know who his father was either. Nevertheless, he was probably the only person she loved dearly. She stuck around most of the time solely to take care of him from their drunk mother, who eventually found another man she took an interest in. He, however, took more of an interest in Chiara when she was merely eleven. As a child, she didn't know any better and was too scared to say anything about it. She suffered in silence for a year so as to keep the pain focused on her and not her younger brother. One day though, she was unable to shield him since she had been out at school. When she came back home, her little brother, who had come home earlier to find their passed out mother and angry, drunk step father, was face down in the living room. There wasn't much Chiara could do except pack whatever little she owned and run away. From then on, she's basically been living on the streets, crashing from place to place. With her small size, it wasn't hard to sneak into a random stranger's house for the night, even if she got caught from time to time. She worked her way into getting jobs dealing drugs before slowly getting addicted to them herself. By the time she was sixteen, she had earned quite a bit of money and had gone up the ranks -- but she had also nearly overdosed twice because of her addiction. When her partner was shot in front of her eyes was when she called it quits.

REASON FOR LEAVING
Her partner now dead, she wants nothing more than to leave behind the shitty town she was raised up in. She has nothing left to live for as long as she's there and she's trying to sober up too. She figured that starting anew in New York would be her big escape and her chance to make her art work a profession.
