  • Personality:
Nariko is best described as a relaxed, calm and focused person. For him, duty comes first and expects the same thing from anyone serving under him - everything else must go aside. At the same time, he is not one to push his subordinates beyond their limits and made peace with the idea that not everyone is like him. He is also friendly and kind to any men he is serving with, seeing the bonds he can create during their service together as one of the best things in his life.

When it comes to defending his village, Nariko would not hesitate to put his life on the line. It is rather hard in his current position, which causes him to be frustrated at times as he would exchange the comfort of a command post for the battlefield, but he knows that's not an option. He cares for the man serving under him and he will not hold his voice down against an order that would expose them to unnecessary risks, but if pressed, he would carry them out as his duty towards the nation he serves.

When commanding, he is a calm, serious person who doesn't tolerate imprecision or slacking off. Whenever he has some free time, he likes to train to maintain his body in peak physical condition. • Backstory:

Nariko was found by a group of Kumogakure Shinobi on border patrol duty and brought back to the village as a refugee from an unknown village. He was found at the age of ten with his younger brother and only known relative, Satoshi. At the same year, he started to attend the Shinobi Academy in Kumo, turning out to be a prodigy in his year. After that, he started to swiftly rise through the ranks. He finished the Academy on his first attempt at the age of eleven, and became a Chuunin at the age of twelve.

After his promotion, he also started to develop his Wind Release skills as he discovered it to be the one he has the affinity for. After four years of hard work, aged sixteen, one could say he mastered his primary element. During those years, he also continued to carry out missions - they rarely ended in failure. When such a thing happened, Nariko would engage in rigorous training routines to prevent any future failures. At this time, Nariko had a promising future in front of himself.

When he turned seventeen, he started training in his second element - Water Release. He quickly grasped the basics of the element, but further improving and perhaps even mastering them is a feat he still didn't accomplish. Two years later and dozens of missions later, he was promoted to the rank of a Jonin. He accepted the challenges of being a Jonin with pride and started to put twice as much effort into his training then before - especially into his increasing mastery of Water Release, gaining enough proficiency with it to use it without a nearby source of water.

He trained kenjutsu skills, which were highly praised since he started with the art. Years passed and the number of missions completed by him only grew, until he was promoted to Kumogakure's Jounin Commander at the beginning of the tenure of the Fifth Raikage. Nariko carried out his duties to the best of his capabilities. Despite his brief tenure in the position, he made a name for himself.

After being replaced in the position, Nariko took on a brief tenure as an ANBU operative, using his formidable skills to further the interests of his village. He didn't get to accomplish that many missions, but he still left the force as a rather respected member. After a brief down time, Nariko realized that during all these years he pursued his career for the village, he neglected his younger brother, Satoshi. Feeling guilt over it, he decided to work on their relationship, perhaps to approach the leader of Kumogakure teams if he could serve with him. Instead of that, he was offered a different position, one which he took after severe consideration. One that would put him to the real test.

  • Family:

    Mother:
    | Unknown, presumed deceased |
Nariko lacks any knowledge about his Mother.

    Father:
    | Unknown, presumed deceased |
Nariko lacks any knowledge about his Mother.

    Siblings:
    | Satoshi Jun | Caring, Respecting, Loving |

Satoshi, as the only remaining family member for him, holds a special place in Nariko's life. He cares greatly for the well being of his younger brother and is willing to go out of his way to help him. Satoshi is perhaps the only person who can make Nariko neglect his duties and he would not hesitate to put his life on the line for him.

We don't bump the thread unless we need to here, it'd be a little unnecessary given we have a Discord server that we do practically all of our communication through. The Rp is alive and very much open if you're interested in joining us, or even just getting a better idea of if this is something you might want to become a part of, just follow this discord link and we can help you with any and all questions you've got about New Gen!

Woah, this role play has been around for such a long time and just seeing that it's Naruto based is already giving me goosebumps! I'm excited and hope I can become a part of this. Without no further Ado - Here's my character sheet!

Name: Homura Unkei

Nickname: Hidama or Mura

Rank: Genin

"Endure and Overcome, That is the way of the Unkei."

Bloodline: Unkei

Chakra Nature: Fire

Gender: Male

Age and date of birth: Sixteen (March 20th)

Age Appearance: Eighteen

Sexuality: Heterosexual

Length and build: 182.88cm (6'0) and Slim

Weight: 81.6466 (179.99 lbs)

Favourite weather and season: Sunny and Clear Skies - Spring

Scars and tattoos: A scar on his back, starting at the top right shoulder blade down to his mid back from being disciplined by his father ; and a small scar on his shin from accidentally cutting himself in the academy.

Currently, # has: 2

Personality:

Homura Unkei grew up on values passed down to him by an overzealous father and an ill god loving mother. He grew up to be a stern, level headed young man, that remains steadfast on his morals and ambitions. He believes that everyone should be treated as an equal, despite any former clan relations. Even though he tries to remain unjudgmental he holds his own prejudices - specifically to those of the Hanta clan. Homura is also a very pious boy, believing strongly in The Way of Fire, and appreciates meeting those with similar belief. He's also a great storyteller, something of value he picked up from his father, and he always finds a way to tell a good tale about his past or of the Unkei history to his friends.

Homura loves learning, whether it be about new jutsus, cultures, or traditions. On his free time when he isn't training, he tries to read books on other cultures and indulge in them. Along with that he has an adherence to training and wanting to progress in forms of combat. This makes him a quick learner when it comes to many things. He struggles with being a perfectionist, always trying to be better than the last time he trained, or his peers that he usually considers his rivals. When he doesn't perform at the level that he thinks he should, it usually upsets him and puts him in a melancholy state. Even though he considering his peers rivals, he's loyal to all of his allies, and is willing to put his life on the line for those he loves and everything he believes in. But he's resentful, and if he were to be betrayed by any friends or done wrong by anyone it is hard for him to forgive them.

  • Bring honor to the Unkei name and make them a Great Clan within The Empire

  • Master his affinity to fire

Backstory:

If there was one thing Homura learned growing up, it was live with honor and pride. On March 20th, concurrent with the Day of Fire, Homura of the Unkei clan was born. First and only son of Nobles, Haru and Ichika Unkei, he was welcomed by his clan with open arms. It is known within the culture that being born on the day of Fire is something of good luck, and although it happened quite rarely every child born upon that day is usually to be celebrated with fervor. March 20th, the day in which Spring replaces Winter, and brings upon a new warmth by God - and for the first time ever a Noble was born on that exact day, be it a boy no less. To the Unkei it was a sign of blessings and many years of luck to come. Haru and Ichika were proud of their boy, and the Nobles celebrated all throughout Kenraoi that same night. Holding long feasts, with fresh wine, and traditional dishes. His father, Haru, was the only one of the new family that attended the event - his mother Ichika rested while her new born child was being cared for by Unkei Midwives. This ironically would become the tale of Homura's upringing.

His father was a man that enjoyed basking in glory. Months after the excitement of his new born had dwindled, he turned his attention into rising up the noble rankings wanting to become the head of the clan. His bargaining chip, other than this previous military experience, was his direct families history in the assistance of the coup against the Hanta clan, and now his son's birth. He told all those that would listen that god rightfully chose him to be the leader of the Unkei. While he would never end up as the head of the Unkei, he got damn close. This put him in hot water with head of the household and other noble members. He fleed to the capital, Konohagakure to avoid further conflict leaving the issue unresolved with an unofficial exile from the Clan. He was able to keep the Unkei name, along with his servants and soldiers, and settled down in the capital. While all of this was unfolding, Ichika, his mother was becoming deathly ill. There were a number of complications during the birth - that would permanently cause issues for Homura's mother.

She would later die when he was five years old. From his distant memories of his mother, he could remember her warmth. Currently now, many of their servants tell him he looks much like his mother. From the long dark hair, to the sharp bone structure, and thin eyebrows. Almost a spitting image. She would spend as much time with him as she possibly could, and he could even remember some of the things they would talk about. They'd speak often about God, she taught him about how great he was and how he must never turn from him. Another memorable topic was his father. She found him crying out by the grapevine one day, it was on a good day since she was able to limp around with the aid of her cane and wasn't stuck in bed. She came to him as quickly as she could, worried he had hurt himself, come to find out he had been crying over the absence of his father. He rarely had the time to see his father, and yet whenever he spoke to the other children in school they told of tales about things they have done with their dads. She coddled him the best she could, telling him his father was unique, and that his form of showing love was different. He found the kind words soothing, and they spent the rest of the day eating grapes amongst the singing birds. Months later when she died, he wept harder than ever before.

Father did show affection in the best way he knew how, by teaching Homura about the Unkei culture. He was able to remember all of the most significant events in history by the time he was eight. By the time he was ten he was sure he heard the tales twenty times over and had memorized most if not all of it. Although hearing the same stories were at times boring, he appreciated most of the time spent with his father because he knew this was the best way he knew how to show his love. His father was not a brutal man, just because he was ambitious didn't mean he was immoral or any less proud of being an Unkei. When he told stories of his time in battle, or stories of his own father and how he stood up against the Hanta during the coup, there was a twinkle in his eyes. The same twinkle that shined like stars when he would remind other nobles that his son was born on The Day of Fire. The exact same twinkle he had when Homura came to his own at the age of ten, and learned of his affinity to fire at the Academy.

Homura spent a lot of time taking up his skills in the academy, wanting nothing more than to make his father and his clan proud. He saw this too as a blessing from God, letting him not only be born on the day of fire but also letting him have the ability to use Fire in battle. Most of his clan specialized in the affinity of Wind, and while not all did, he felt special. His father didn't stop him from thinking that either, he was just as convinced as Homura was. Haru would gather his soldiers up to teach his son different forms of combat. Haru himself, despite being much older and not as limber, would teach his son different styles of genjutsu and taijutsu.

One day at the Academy, Homura made friends with a Hanta girl. Despite being raised to hate those of the Hanta clan, the girl grew on him from working alongside one another for months. He was thirteen at the time, and he hid the friendship from his father the best he could. The friendship even showed some signs of sparking into more than just that, but at such a young age and with the way it came to an end, Homura would never come to find out. He came home, and his father was waiting for him with one of the scariest looks he had ever witnessed. Upon his lap was what appeared to be a strap, used on cattle. His father yelled at him about befriending a Hanta, told him it was damn near a sin, and he wouldn't tolerate a sinner in his home. He forced Homura, embarrassed and ashamed, to bend over whilst shirtless and struck him with the whip. It left a permanent scar, both physically and mentally. He fears his father like no other man. He never spoke to the Hanta girl again and to this day has no clue who told his father of their friendship.

Finally graduating from the Academy, Homura felt proud about his accomplishments. His father was overjoyed, and similar to the day of his birth he celebrated. Except this time it was without a single other noble at the table, instead it was all of his loyal subjects that remained with him throughout the years and watched as Homura turned into a man. His father had great plans for him, he would tell him quite often of how one day Homura will rule over the Unkei just as god would have wanted it. But within Homura's pride for his clan and himself, he knew deep inside not all of his father's teachings were correct. While he believed he had to bring honor to his clan, he always wanted to bring a new sense of change. There was no changing the old ways of his father, who was now becoming more feeble with age, or those of the nobles that already had their minds set in stone. He didn't need to be the head of the clan to do that - but he needed to be influential. He promised himself he will bring the foundation of change for the Unkei, he will bring his clan to greatness like that of the Uchiha and Tokugawa. But he will do it whilst bringing in a new generation of Unkei, a generation that while still culturally correct, is ready to reconsider their stance with other clans to do good within this world. Is that not what god would want?

Appearance: Kept in amazing shape throughout the years by the best blade wielders amongst the Unkei people, his father passed this down to him once he graduated the academy. Along the hilt is in the Unkei logo, and along the scabbard is a saying well known to all Unkei and followers of The Way of Fire. It reads, ' Fire washes skin from the bone, and sin from the soul'. Name of Technique:

1637710015748.png

Type of Jutsu: Ninjutsu/Taijutsu

Rank: D

Range: Close

Nature Type: Fire

Handseals: Rat, Serpent, Tiger, Ox, Dragon

Description: He can heat up his body internally from within his chakra chambers, he could feel the heat run through his body and is eventually released. He can use this to heat up his body in the event that he's too cold or if he's in the middle of combat and uses this jutsu his hits can slightly singe the skin of combatants.

With more experience, he could eventually develop this jutsu to do more damage by creating a more intense exterior heat, and will be able to engulf his sword in flames. As of now, he's hardly incapable of damaging others with it.

Weakness: He has very little control over how hot it can get internally, and if he isn't careful could lead to him fainting or worst case scenario organs to fail. He can control how long he can keep it flowing through his chakra for, but the longer he keeps it on the hotter it gets and the more risk to his health it has.

*Didn't know what else to put because there weren't many D-Ranked Jutsus for my affinity, may have to make some up on my own if approved!*

Welcome! You are most welcome to join. I can advise you to use the following link to join our discord. As the previous message of GM Frostedcamel stated: the OOC chatter and whatnot are conducted there.
The Discord invitation.
Once two GM's have approved the character sheet, you will have officially become part of the roleplay.

@Enigmatic_Entity

Welcome to the RP!
As one of the GM's, I will now provide you with a detailed review. Here you go!

Allow me to start that it is usually the case that when you try to make a character for a clan, you request the person who writes/leads the clan if it is okay. In this case, it would be Autumn Song, but it is alright. We understand that this unwritten rule is more or less foreign at the start, and no offence is taken. Autumn also approved of the application - allowing you to start with an Unkei character.

Another small side note is that I am somewhat surprised and amused that his personal name is Homura. It is the same name as the Imperial Crown bears, and no need to change it; I just find it an amusing coincidence.

Personality:
Unless I am mistaken, the personality section is empty. Would you be so kind as to write at least two paragraphs detailing his personality? Thanks!

Master the Way of Fire
You also stated to master the Way of Fire. Do you mean to master or understand the Religion, 'the Way of Fire' better or something else? You don't need to change it, as I am asking simply to get better clarification.

He told all those that would listen that god rightfully chose him to be the leader of the Unkei. While he would never end up as the head of the Unkei, he got damn close

Here you state that his father got close to toppling the leadership of the Unkei clan. Political ambitions and conflicts are always brewing, certainly involving powerful and influential clans or positions. Usually, these struggles of vying for power end up in (forced) exile or death when the challenger can't succeed. I spoke with Autumn briefly on the matter, and we came up with a suggestion you may perhaps like.

To make it believable, you could have that he attempted and got close to gaining leadership. However, he failed and had to flee the Unkei clan's heartlands. Forcing him and his family to travel as such towards Konohagakure, the capital of the Empire. Due to the matter not being entirely resolved, he could keep bearing and passing on the noble Unkei name - capable of bringing wealth and his household (guards/soldiers included) with him. With this, it also fits in with Homura being taught at the Academy in Konohagakure - though there is a dozen Academies spread over the Empire, that doesn't need to be specified.
Further down the line, it can very well be that there might be some conflict regarding the Unkei leadership refocusing on this problem - as they are occupied with some other, more pressing affairs at the current moment.

  • Good Genjutsu that he picked up from working hard on his already learned move sets
You state that he has good genjutsu, but no technique is present within his character sheet. As such, I have requested our genjutsu guru ( @Lesli ) for some basic genjutsu that you could consider putting on the list of techniques he has mastered:

Mist Servant Technique
Demonic Illusion: Hell Viewing Technique
Demonic Illusion: Descending Hell Technique

If you desire more, I and the other GM's can try to provide some aid within the discord - that you joined.

*Didn't know what else to put because there weren't many D-Ranked Jutsus for my affinity, may have to make some up on my own if approved!*
You are more than welcome to craft and create some low ranked fire techniques, of course! I and the other GM's would be more than eager to lend some aid in that if you would have us.

@Aliceee I appreciate the feedback again and made a number of changes!

That's funny that I share the same name lol! Hope it doesn't become confusing in the future and doesn't step on anyone's toes. I also fixed the history so it fits more with what you said, the majority of the changes were made in the second paragraph, the fourth had very minor changes, and the last paragraph had a decent amount of changes - none of the changes are groundbreaking however and is basically the same.

I must have accidentally skipped the personality section all together, it was late last night and I was exhausted so that was my fault, sorry again ^^. Thank you for aiding me with what I missed about having Genjutsu be a part of Homura's list, totally let that slip. And finally, I made a Rank-D technique to make up for the inability of being able to find one that fit Homura's style. Let me know if you don't think it would be considered D ranked and I'll change whatever needs to be changed!

Again, super excited, hope all the changes are good to go!! :)

You are most welcome. I have read the changes and I am most content.

As such, allow me to be the first one to grant you approval.
Only one more GM approval is required. ^^

Even though he tries to remain unjudgmental he holds his own prejudices - specifically to those of the Hanta clan.

That was a pleasant read. And it seems that you already have acquired a GM approval. Neat!

Before I give my verdict, I want to state a thing. Nothing too major but just something to keep in mind.
You have clearly put thought in your character. It shows in your work and I am happy with that. Just do be aware that taijutsu =/= wielding weaponry skills. And when a skill isn't noted down, it will be considered average at best. Of course, your character can attempt to improve this, so no worries!

In any regards, you have now acquired my approval as a GM. The next step is to copy and paste the character sheet in the Accepted Character Thread. Then your character will be put on the roster and you're all ready to rumble with us. :)
