What does? Picking and choosing from the Mario universe, or making our own Mushroom Kingdom lands whenever we want?
 
Making and maintaining every single land made in the Mario universe xD Theres too many! But I think a range of 8-16 should be good for the purposes of this rp
 
Oh okay cool. Since there are so many Mario games set in the canon Mushroom Kingdom, we can pick 16 different locations to work with as part of our "Map".

So, seeing as how we'll exclude worlds from Galaxy 1&2, as well as Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario 3D World (Wii-U one set in different world), and the Paper Mario franchise along with Mario Kart & Party, that leaves us with:

Mario Bros. (arcade, but really is just a sewer so doesn't really count)
Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario Bros. 2 (Lost Levels in America)
Super Mario Bros. 2 (Doki Dori Panic in Japan)
Super Mario Bros. 3
Super Mario World (Technically took place on Yoshi's Island? so we won't count it)
Super Mario 64 (kind of iffy, but the paintings could be portals leading to locations from the MK)
New Super Mario Bros.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Super Mario 3D Land
New Super Mario Bros Wii-U
 
that was the exact idea with 64. The paintings were portals to separate locations in the mushroom kingdom, powered by the stars you collect.
 
Sweet, then they count.

We should also be mindful about filling in the world stereotypes for a Mario game:

1. Grassland
2. Beach land
3. Mountains
4. Snowy/Polar Area
5. Creepy Forest/Cave
6. Lava Area
7. Desert (sand)
8. Dessert (cake)
9. Underground Area
 
also add in underwater and underwater cave system
 
I feel like Underwater would just be like the Ocean and would connect to other areas. Like Dire Dire Docks: that has a massive underwater area focused all just on a shipwreck, but there's land areas to it as well
 
okay then that works out ^^ now we just have to decide what elements from each game that implements these we will use
 
I say we wait a bit for more interest and see what tomorrow brings. That way, we can all decide on stuff when we're ready to start

Name: Thomas T. Toadsworth

Nickname: "Toad"

Gender: Male

Age: 18

Species: Mushroom-Person (or Toad, if you aren't politically correct)

Position in the Mushroom Kingdom: Son of "Mr. Toadsworth", Royal Advisor to Princess Peach. Toad, however, just works with the Mario Brother's at their plumbing company and helps to save the Princess. In short, Toad is recognized as a higher-class citizen, but he prefers to spend time with the Bros rather then be at Court all day and listen to his father ramble on about things he really doesn't care about.

Preferred Weapon(s): He can remove his mushroom cap (revealing his dark blue hair), and throw it as a weapon. He also can harness the energy of the legendary "Power Ups" such as the Fire Flower and Starman, just like the Mario Bros. He also carries a Plunger and a Hammer with him (just in case)

Abilities/Powers: He is actually a very fast person (faster then Mario and Luigi) and can run for long periods of time without getting tired. He can also jump pretty high, but he's more of a "long distance with a running start" kind of jumper.

Bio: While Toad is one of the most forgotten about characters (who was also hated for being the very first one to tell Mario that "His Princess was in another castle." Like, that was his fault? She was the one to get kidnapped in the first place!!) but he honestly doesn't care about fame or recognition. In fact, Toad will easily step aside, allowing Mario and Luigi (and whoever else may have helped) to take the spotlight while he brings the Princess back home. This usually results in Toad being the one to head back home and relax while the Bros go out partying. Despite his fears, Toad is usually one of the few people who tries his best to support Mario and Luigi when they go on adventures, from providing items to actually adventuring alongside with the heroes, which is what he prefers to do (seriously, who wants to be known as the "Item Handout Guy"?). Despite the fact that Toad is usually seen as a cheerful character, he can get extremely distressed when a major event occurs, such as the kidnapping of the Princess (especially when it happens right after they just rescued her). He has been mentioned as being a hard working Toad with a strong loyalty to the Princess and his friends. However, there are times when he wishes that he could have been born a Koopa, but then he remembers just how many of the poor turtles have been squashed by the SMB Corp. Then he thinks about cake. Mmmmm... Cake.

Other: Toad is a very close and personal sort of guy. He loves to get to know people and is always good to his friends. Toad owns a pet Poochy named "Alexander", who he loves very much. He doesn't mind at all if Mario and Luigi take all the glory for the jobs they've done, Toad just cares about the well being of the Kingdom. He also won't admit it, but he has a major crush on Princess Peach.[/CENTER]

Name: Luigi Nickolai Castro (Because Mario/Luigi do not have formal last names in any of the games, I took the liberty of creating one)

Nickname: No nickname, just his first name

Gender: Male

Age: 19

Species: Human

Preferred Weapon(s): Luigi, like his twin brother, can use the energy of various power-ups, like the Fire Flower and others. As well, being the taller and skinnier of the two brothers, he is quick on his feet and can sneak up on anyone and attack without them noticing. He also always carries a small wrench in the pocket of his pants, good for fixing leaks, unclogging pipes, and mashing any annoying Goomba that gets in his or his brother's way.

Abilities/Powers: Luigi is very quick and sneaky, and can maneuver around obstacles with ease without enemies noticing, which is great for the missions where he must sneak past obstacles in order to achieve his goal, usually trying to save Mario's girlfriend, Peach. He is also very tall and physically fit, although he is sometimes clumsy and cannot run as fast as some people because he is so lanky.

Bio: Luigi and Mario were both transported from their home in Brooklyn, New York at around 16 years old to the Mushroom Kingdom when they were doing a job for their father. There, they met Toad, Peach, Daisy, and the other pro/antagonists of the Mario world. Luigi is the quieter of the Mario Bros, mostly staying to the background and letting his twin brother, Mario, take the lead. He is, however, very smart and is the more logical of the two, always trying to think out the hair-brained missions his brother comes up with to save his love, Princess Peach. Even though, however, Luigi mostly lets Mario do his own thing and just follows what he does, he loves his brother very much and would do anything to protect him from any situation he gets himself into (most notably the King Boo incident, but we don't talk about that). His relationship with his brother is very close, which is why Luigi never left his brother. He was happy with their life fighting crime together, and he didn't want to ruin that. He also has a long-term girlfriend named Daisy, and they were set up by his brother and her best friend, Princess Peach, another reason he is so close to his brother. He has a good relationship with Princess Peach, but never really became friends because he was always taking time out of his day to save her. But, he gets along with her for Mario's sake.

Other: He is good friends with Toad and most citizens of the various kingdoms, and has ridden Yoshi many times without his brother knowing. (Don't tell Mario...) He also knows how to bake various types of pastries, including pies and cakes.

Name: Luigi Drake (Nobody except his parents know what his middle name is, or even the first initial)

Nickname: "Waluigi"

Gender: Male

Age: 20

Species: Human

Preferred Weapon(s): Waluigi is skilled in jiu-jitsu, and uses hand-to-hand combat whenever he is in a fight. Some also say he dabbles in the dark arts and witchcraft, as he spends most of his time alone in his room. Being very tall, he can also scare off many potential foes simply because he is very intimidating and has a reputation for having violent, random anger bursts, in which he lashes out with full force.

Abilities/Powers: Waluigi is very physically strong and quick, as well as able to jump very high in the air. There are also rumors circulating that he as the ability to summon spirits and use black magic, although this has never been officially confirmed.

Bio: Waluigi was born to an Italian father and a Japanese mother, hence his first name, "Luigi" and his place of birth, Japan. Growing up, Waluigi had horrible anger issues and was always getting into fights at school because of his uncontrollable temper. Because he was a bully and was often angry, the children at the school started calling him "Waluigi," meaning "bad Luigi" in Japanese. He grew up in there until he was around 14 years old, then was transported by a Warp Pipe in a large sewage facility to the Mushroom Kingdom by his parents who felt he could grow up better there, along with his cousin, Mario, who was taken with him. The two became very close over just a few months, and became virtually inseperable. After a few years, Luigi opened up to Mario about his childhood and his nickname, who was the only person he could share this information with, and Mario praised it. He encouraged him to take in the nickname, as well as for him to use the nickname, "Wario" and they would defeat their enemies together. Around this time, they heard of Mario and Luigi, who were basically the polar opposites of the boys, and set out to ruin everything they tried to do. (Usually unsuccessfully, I might add). Waluigi was the thinker in the group, always quiet and easygoing until somebody did something to peak his pent-up rage, to which he attacks with no remorse, and many people in the Mushroom Kingdom grew to fear the duo, as well as refer to them by their nicknames because they thoght the boys were the evil versions of their heroes, Mario and Luigi.

Other: Waluigi is very close to his cousin, and has never talked to anyone else about his childhood years, not even his parents. Luigi has always had a secret crush on Daisy, Luigi's girlfriend, but has never expressed his feelings because he is worried that this crush may be seen as a weakness, and he doesn't want that. He speaks Japanese and English fluently.


I hope these guys are acceptable! Let me know if anything needs to be changed.

One thing though. The mushroom kingdom has never had a definitive race separation besides grassy place, desert place, underground place, and beach/ocean place. There is no way to determine races. But if you are adimate with the whole Japanese-Italian thing for waluigi, I would suggest having him born in the real world and being taken into the mushroom kingdom in some similar fashion that Mario and luigi had.
