The Rain of the Samurai

Droplets where already falling from the sky as he moved his equipment into a hollow tree that was way too small for him to get into, but he looked at Rain. She said his name, then hers. "Rai-n.." he said assuming she meant for him to watch her as she played. He was moving the fire to a more sheltered location where it would at least burn a little longer. "We'll have to pick up the trail in the morning..." he was still watching her as she played, obviosly it wasn't as cold for her as it was for him.

Rain watched him move the fire under cover and placed her pack next to him. Then she slipped outside, taking deep breaths and lifting her face to the sky. There was a feline grin on her face as she stretched and dug her claws into the dirt then began walking and swaying through the rain. It felt so wonderful!

Her fur was getting soaked and began to stick to her body as did her clothes which didn't bother her at all. She had plenty of time to dry off later. She began to take hops and roll around and nuzzle her face into the grass! She stayed outside until the rain had began to soften and then slipped under cover where she giggled and purred! She was feeling so playful, she even slipped next to Takahiro and rubbed up against him!

He was shivering in the rain and trying to stay warm as he watched Rain play, he didn't know how she could stand it but if the spirit was having fun then he would let it. It would be disrespectful not to. He wasn't however ready for her to rub up against him with the smell of wet leather and fur and the feeling of his own wet clothes being rubbed against his skin. He turned and put both hand on her to push her away but hesitated.

"It is our way that it is out way that no one may touch a samurai without permission." he said. "I guess you know nothing of our way, or our language. I wonder where I am to find a spirit like you."

"Mwowr!" Rain stopped and leaned back on her ankles. His tone was gentle but firm. What he was telling her sounded very important. Instructions, perhaps? She tilted her head slightly to one side. He was wet but he didn't seem angry. She turned and slipped around to the other side of the fire where she sat.

What a strange man he was. She put her claws down and then vigorously shook, sending drops of water flying everywhere. Then she stretched and curled into a ball and quickly fell asleep, looking for all purposes like a giant cat enjoying a nap.

So rain went to sleep, that left the samurai on first watch. He make sure the fire stayed alive as he warmed himself around it keeping his ears pricked for trouble as he took out more rice from his pack and ate. These forests were strange but he was glad that he at least had someone to watch him as he slept.

It was several hours later, with his back to a tree and he sword in his lap that the rain stopped and midnight arrived. The fire although low was well stocked with wood, and stifling a yawn he leaned over to gently shake his companion's shoulder. "Rai-n." he whispered. "You take watch." He shook her again and when she stirred put his sword aside and pointed to himself then indicated sleep.

Rain lifted her head and had to shake the sleep out of her eyes. "Mwowr?" She tilted her head at the warrior and nodded a bit to show she understood. OOhh ... Yes, he needed rest. She rose and stretched, then slipped out of the cave and sniffed the air. She was feeling so much better now that she had a chance to sleep and playing in the rain earlier.

Rain sat at the entrance and scanned the area. Everything sounded quiet and clear. The air and the forest smelled clean. She scratched her ear absently. But it wouldn't be clean until those goblins were destroyed. She slipped her bow over her shoulder and took another step outside. She wondered if the goblins had already cleared out or if they were tracking them, about to launch an attack. She slipped into some brush close to the camp and decided she would use this as cover just in case.

How they manages to sneak up on Rain was a mystery but there they were charging thorough the trees, more of the tiny green creatures back for revenge/. The warrior from the first fight wasn't visible but there were two more, and with them were two large beetles with marks from years of abuse on their shells and decorated for war.

A third goblin cuts off escape and readied wicked black blades. This was not hunting party, it was a lynching crew.
