Hi all! Since I've been unable to get partners for most of that plots that I've been really interested in, I've decided to make this thread where I'll give several plots that I'd like to do. If any of them catches your fancy, please let me know here or in a PM. I don't really do fandoms, but that doesn't meant that you can't incorporate some elements of other works into our original story, as long as it's not a blatant copy-paste.

About me & OOC stuff
  • I favour quality over quantity. I don't mind waiting several days for a good post and I hope you have a similar disposition.
  • I don't place paragraph limits per post, but I do want you to interact with the surroundings.
  • I'm looking for someone who can actively participate in the worldbuilding process and who can also develop an engaging character. I want to be able to sympathise with your character's plight, otherwise I don't really feel connected to the roleplay.
  • In each plot, I could play either Character 1 or Character 2. However, as you may begin to understand, usually the burden of "knowing some stuff" is placed on one of the characters, while the burden of "discovering some stuff" is places on the other, so please be mindful of that.
  • I can roleplay in a thread or PMs, doesn't matter to me.
  • Some parts are kept deliberately vague to preserve the "mysteriousness" of the entire setting and also to allow more space for you fantasy to flourish as opposed to working within a pre-defined narrative :)
  • I don't mind romance being a part of the roleplay, if it develops naturally, not as a prerequisite.

Eyes in the dark
Setting: modern
World: modern day earth

Character 1 has, for whatever reason, decided to take a job at a UFO monitoring station in a forest, several miles from the nearest small town in the deep countryside. The only way to reach the outside world is a satellite phone, their computer that only reaches to several research centres, and a land rover, which can travel across the rough country roads and get them to the nearest gas station to stock on supplies and connect to the internet for a few hours a day. The job is not particularly demanding and leaves them with a lot of free time, even though it doesn't pay that well either. Character 2 is the store clerk at the gas station and doesn't often get a lot of customers. What character 1 doesn't know, but will quickly begin to discover, is that there unexplained anomalies and things going bump in the night around these parts, that nobody really speaks of. Nobody except for Character 2, that is.

Breaking the ice
Setting: modern
World: earth, near future, alternate dimension

Same world, same earth, one crucial difference: technology has been developing at a cold war era pace ever since the fall of the soviet union. With a lack of major wars, humanity expanded in places of this world previously reached by only a handful of scientists. Travels to close orbit cities, underwater stations, desert megalopolises etc. is quite common. Even despite all that, the Arcitc remains loosely populated with the long nights and constant cold, despite inner temperature modulators, not appealing to most. Character 1 is a new arrival at a small station that's mostly occupied by scientists and researchers from different countries. Character 2 is their guide to the station and also a co-worker. They strike a friendship and as they talk more and more, once of them finally shares their concerns about the strange things that had been happening around the station, including weird, unregistered power and light glitches, momentary lapses in the temp-modulators in certain areas as well as unexplained sounds coming from the common vents at night. How does the other one react and who else might be listening?

Demon hunters
Setting: pre-medieval
World: original world, worldbuilding required

Character 1 is a knight of the King's army, sent to aid a small town near the border with a rivalling kingdom, that has sent its elders to complain of horrible beasts hunting them in the night. Character 1 brings a small number of their own troops to help uncover the, what he is certain, are a bunch of brigands. He/She is adamant about cleansing the village in the name of his/her King, but also in order for the kingdom not to lose prestige in front of their rivals. During their travels, they manage to capture a stranger (Character 2), whose accent they deduce to be from the rivalling kingdom. While the latter claims to be a refugee, they capture him/her and shackle them, to bring back to the King for justice. Trespassing the border is, after all, a crime and Character 2 is a spy, for all Character 1 and their men know. because they. After reaching the village, Character 1 starts his/her investigation and one of the things the quickly discover is the presence of a weird new cult that aspouses foreign beliefs and denounces your gods. Hunting them proves almost impossible, since they are somehow shielded by the townspeople for whatever reason. Character 2 overhears some of that, or is told by Character 1 as a result of their relationship and offers to help. They claim the know what is happening and they are actually terrified.

All alone in this space?
Setting: sci-fi
World: original world, worldbuilding required

Humanity has advanced quite a lot over the years and space travel at sublight speed is something ubiquitous. Characters 1 and 2 are fellow crew members in a crew of roughly 200 in what is going to be a mission to settle a permanent outpost upon a certain habitable planet and prepare mining operations on its moons and around the entire solar system, as it contains planets that are rich in resources. Of course, it takes some time to reach there and most of the crew doesn't go in cryogenic sleep, because of the negative side-effects impacting the speed of their work. Living on a spaceship for months on end with mostly unknown people and an emptionally inhibited project leader can be daunting, especially because it's a corporate context with nothing to do. Character 1 is head of security and Character 2 is a "Consulting Specialist", whatever that means. Living different lives, having different responsibilities and knowing different people, they struck an unlikely friendship and, perhaps, something more. As the crew reached the planet and people get to their work, Characters 1 and 2 rarely, if ever, meet because of their busy and different schedules. A wink and a wave over the corridors of planet facilities is the most interaction they get. Over the time, people in both the planet and the ship begin to experience unusually high symptoms of psychological distress. This is weird, since everyone here is experienced, well-paid professional that has done this many times - these kind of expeditions are one of the most common and profitable activities of mankind nowadays. Over time, many people start exhibiting unusual drowsiness, paranoia, fears, night terrors and it doesn't take much time until a biologist takes her own life, leaving a creepy message behind. About a day after the event, Character 2 contacts Character 1 over a private communication channel, sounding both desperate and anxious, asking for a meeting "as friends".

Secrets kept in plain sight
Setting: modern, high-school
World: modern day earth

Character 1 is a rich, city-dweller. At least they were, until something happened that forced them to move back with their grandmother and grandfather in the deep province in a foreign country. Character 1 speaks the local language just barely, however he/she is enrolled in the local high school nevertheless. Character 1 hates everything about the new place and especially the fact they are practically incapable of speaking with anyone else. He/she also can't stand their grandparents' habit of putting lit candles outside their windows every night. Their school's homeroom teacher appoints Character 2, a common boy/girl from the class to be Character 1's language assistant and help them learn and get around. Character 1 is an honours student and one of the few people in town who speak good English. He/she is also a bit of an oddball. Characters 1 and 2 strike a friendship and maybe, again, something more. One night, though Character 1 is staying out late at night away from home. As they try to walk home, they notice there are almost no people on the streets and the few that are out there, are actually in cars or bikes with lights turned on. Suddenly, as they walk along a normal street, all lights turn off and all they see around is thick darkness creeping towards them and deleting everything else. Out of nowhere, Character 2 come out and grabs Character 1 by the hand, pulling them away. Character 1 is holding a small lit candle with cup to keep it from being blown out, as well as a plastic bag of groceries. They cross a few streets and everything seems to go back to normal. Character 1 keeps acting as if nothing happened but escorts their friend home, where their grandparents are worried sick. What is wrong with this place?!

The Flames of our past
Setting: pre-medieval
World: original world, worldbuilding required

Spanning across uncounted miles are the steppes and deserts of the Ataman, a region dotted with the ruins of a highly advanced, very magically-adept civilisation. Their collapse, presumably due to a massive magical experiment gone wrong, triggered an event that caused the once luscious plains of the east Ataman to turn into deserts where nothing grows. The steppes are populated by several tribes, each of which collects lore and artefacts of the dead civilisation and each of them claims to be its true descendant. Each tribe has different episodes in their folklore detailing their connections to the lost civilisation and the events that lead to its death. Most inhabitants of the Ataman live in melancholy and their only concern is grabbing a bit of power, usually located within the magical jems scattered all across the desert and the steppes. These gems are soaked with potent magic and a skilled shaman can bind their essence to a person or a weapon, giving them supernatural magical abilities.

However, upon the person's death the stone grows cold and cannot be used ever again and so, the tribes spend most of their time scavenging and fighting, but everyone lives in dread of the day when the last stone of their past will grow cold and magic will forever be gone from their lives.

Character 1 is a young adventurer, who isn't about to let that happen. His past is uncertain, but he is the first in a generation capable of spellcasting without a magic-soaked gemstone. He is now on a mission to find the secrets of their ancient past and learn the method of rekindling the dead stones. Character 2 is a knight of the Steel Empire, the most powerful force in the world, which also happens to border the Ataman steppes. The current emperor is on his death bed and his children are already fighting for the throne. The Empire is on the verge of division, with the Emperor's last breath, the bloodiest civil war in this millennia will be unleashed, between the Emperor's thirteen descendants. The heir that Character 2 serves has only managed to get two of the poorest provinces to support their cause thus far and things are looking grim. History, however, is filled with stories of rulers defeating impossible odds to claim the throne and Character 2 is, for whatever reason, deadset on helping his/her master achieve victory. Their master is very well-versed in spellcraft and sends their champion into the steppes, in search of a device that would help him control the secrets, burried under the sands of the Atman.

How characters 1 & 2 meet and whether they tell each other their agenda is up for discussion.

Hey! I'd certainly be interested in an RP with you. Quite a few of your plots here catch my interest. You can shoot me a PM if you'd like to discuss some of this further and start one up.
