Emmica rushed forward as she heard Rue defend Ivish and quickly stopped in front of the men, making sure to stand inbetween them and Ivish. She caught her breath for a moment, she had been thinking so much about what could happen that she hadn't noticed that she was completely breathless. She then stood a bit strighter as she moved closer to the bowing men.

"It is true, I now live with the king of Dartith. I ask you now to please return to Rindall, there is no need to cause any needless violence." She said softly, her royal nature and compromising tone obvious in her voice, it was the voice of a ture princess.

Rue kept her eyes trained on the men, every now and again her eyes flicked to Emmica. She didn't know why Ivish held back the guards but she wished he would make them leave.

Ivish kept his arms protectively around Rue, he listened to Emmica and seemed relaxed but he was ready to signal his guards at any moment.

The men looked up at her, "but princess why?" The leader raised his head "why do you live with him? And what has become of our king?"

Emmica bit her lip slightly as he asked his question, it was hard for her to answer without feeling upset as well...

"Father...Father has left the kingdom...Even I do not know where he has gone. As for why I live with this man, My father asked it of me..." She said as she then looked to the ground for a moment.

"Now please, return to Ridall as I have asked. You are causing more trouble than you even realize."

The men nodded "yes princess" they said solemnly and shooting one last concerned look at Rue and a glare of hatred at Ivish, the men made their way back to Rindall. <o:p></o:p>

Ivish turned to his guards "you three, follow them from a safe distance and make sure they go back to Rindall." The guards bowed "yes your highness" with that they hurried off in pursuit of the men. <o:p></o:p>

[FONT=&quot]Ivish leaned down to hug Rue "thank you my brave Pixie, walk ahead with the guard for a moment ok?" He turned to the remaining guard "lead the way back to the castle, keep Rue close and for goodness sake be alert for any other rebels." The guard nodded fiercely "yes my lord" he walked ahead with Rue at his side. <o:p></o:p>[/FONT]

Ivish let the guard and Rue walk far enough ahead so they were out of earshot, then he turned to Emmica a look of genuine concern on his face "are you alright?" He could tell these rebels had rattled her, and he was worried.

For the first time since she had arrived Emmica turned and looked Ivish in the eye. Her look was rather tired and upset, this event had hit her harder than he could possibly know.

"Do I look alright?" She asked, her voice shaky as tears started to fill her eyes. "My people...My peaceful people...are picking up weapons and rebeling against a foe who will destroy them...How can I possible be alright!?" She yelled almost, her emotions getting the best of her.

She looked away quickly and started to rub her eyes roughly, taking in a shaky breath. She didn't want him to see her cry.

Ivish reached out a hand to comfort her but realising that it would probably upset her more he slowly withdraw it, his fingertips brushing her shoulder as he did so.

He stood there looking at her for a moment, "i don't wish to see you upset Emmica, but those rebels came here of their own will."

He kept his eyes on her face, gauging her reaction. "I am not destroying your people, you and they have no idea how i will run this kingdom." He gazed out at the trees, "their lives will remain almost perfectly the same."

He shifted a little "with all due respect you know nothing of my true self, and you should not judge me before you do." He looked at his feet for a moment, before raising his eyes to meet hers.

Emmica sniffed loudly as she looked at him quietly as she continued to wipe away the tears, her cheeks getting red from her rough rubbing.

" So I've misjudged you, I've let myself assume things that probably aren't true...But how can you expect me to accept the person that's striped me of everything I've known, everything was held important to me in my life?" She said as she glanced to the ground. "How can you expect people to look at you as their king when you threatened them before with your soldiers and forced their beloved former king into hiding?"

She then turned to face him more, her voice louder and filled with quite a bit of emotion.

"How can you expect people to welcome you with open arms when you carry such a violent reputation? You're killed hundereds in pervious attacks on other kingdoms, who's to say that you won't do it again?! You say I'm misjudging you but that's only because you've made such a reputation for yourself!...And how do you expect me to know the real you...when you won't even give me a chance to learn about you?" She said, the last part being spoken just above a whisper.

Ivish stood tall "i have not forced the king into hiding, and i have not forced you to come here either." He didn't mention that he was glad she did, "I was left no choice but to use force they would not have accepted my presence here otherwise."

He shook his head sadly "I have done nothing of the sort, i have never killed anyone." Who didn't deserve it he thought bitterly to himself.

He grew quiet, "my reputation is lies based on the brutality of my father." He became suddenly angry, "i am nothing like my father!" he said almost to himself.

After a moment of silence he looked into her eyes, his voice was quiet and full of pain, "i would like for you to know the real me but you seem repulsed by the idea."

Emmica went quiet for a moment as she sniffed and breathed weakly, her face even more flushed as she listened to him. A small twinge of guilt filled her chest as she realized that she was more at fault than he was, though he still had caused her pain weather me ment to or not.

"I am sorry..." She finally said after she gathered her voice again. "I know I have been distant...and probably rude. But after being sent here...after being given away as payment...I'm a little more than bitter. I know...I know my father only did it because he feared I would suffer worse but I'm...I'm not just some meek girl!...My people and myself are all paranoid, we fear the change that comes with a new ruler. You say things will stay the same but they won't, there will be laws to review, people to be put on the citizen's list, history to update...Nothing ever stays the same." She said as she returned his stare, her voice also shaky with emotion.

"I know it might be a bit pointless to say this...But I will do best to try and not judge you like before...and I will also try to convince me people as well...since we'll all...need to work-" Emmica's words started to stumble and her eyes sight became hazy.

With the lack of sleep and her emotions doing her heart no good, her body was not handling it very well. Her eyes slowly rolled into the back of her head as her flushed face grew hot with fever. She eventually started to fall, unable to keep herself standing as the sickness from her childhood slowly returned while her body was weak from sadness.

Ivish was about to reply when he noticed how sick she looked "are you alrigh...." he trailed off as she started to fall. Lunging forward he caught her before she hit the ground, "Emmica!? Emmica can you hear me?!" He got no response, so her lifted her into his arms and starting running after Rue and the guard.

When he reached them he ordered his guard to run and fetch the castle doctor, then holding Emmica tightly and with Rue beside him he ran back to the castle. Once they were inside Ivish gently laid her down on bed on the first floor, there he paced anxiously for the doctor.

Rue took charge feeling Emmica's forehead and realizing she had a fever she gave Ivish a reassuring hug, and hurried off to fetch a wet cloth.

The doctor came and examined her, before turning to a very worried Ivish "she'll be ok, she has collapsed from exhaustion and has a fever but if she takes this she'll be fine in a few days." He made Emmica sip a potion before handing Ivish the bottle "give her this when she awakes my lord, and keep up her fluid intake."

Just Then Rue returned with the cloth and placed it over Emmica's forehead , the doctor smiled "and keep that up to." Bowing once the doctor left leaving the three alone.

Once the doctor had left, they both sat down near Emmica's bedside. They were silent for some time, so when a knock came on the door they both jumped. A guard poked his head in bowing "forgive the interruption my lord but there is a messenger here for you."

Ivish glanced at Emmica and Rue could sense his reluctance to leave, "its ok Ivish, I'll deal with it." She smiled and left with the guard, hoping it was good news.

Ivish gave her a grateful smile and sat back down next to Emm, willing her to awaken.

Emmica's breath came out raged as she laid on the bed, the fever raging on even after she was given teh medicine by the doctor. Her flushed cheeks started to get covered in sweat as her eye lids twitched, showing signs that she was dreaming of something. However, even though she was technically sleeping her mind was wirling with a most unplesant nightmare.

It was a memory from her childhood, the day of her mothers death. Emmica was still stuck in bed, coughing and gasping while a raging fever while in a room nearby her mother's final hours ticked away. Suffering from similar symptoms as her mother, Emmica had been put in a separate room to keep herself from getting to the stage her mother was at. Her eyes were glued tot he ceiling as she listened to her mother's pained moans drift in from teh other room, her fathers quiet mumbling and sobs floating as well.

It wasn't that this nightmare was filled with monsters or demons, but it held her greatest fear, not being able to do anything. It continued one, the sickening moans getting louder as well as her fathers cries of sadness and she could not move, forced to listen. She tried to get up, tried to crawl from the massive sheets, but she could not escape their hold. She called out to her mother and father, telling them she was there, telling her mother not to die...but it didn't work. Her mother's cough worsened and she started to panic, she called out more desparately as she tried to move, she had to see her mother! She had too!

However, everything went silent, her mother's coughs had died away...She then finally looked from the ceiling to see her mother's doctor standing in the door, her father's face covered in tears...she knew what happened.

Emmica's eyes shot open suddenly as she took in a loud breath, her body shuddered as she let out a stranged gasp before tears spilled from her eyes. She gave a weak sob before a hand darted up to quickly contain the rest of her crying. She felt horrible, her fever was still going and her body ached with sadness and pain. She felt usless, a pointless princess, and her head throbbed with an unknown pain. She shuddered again as she felt herself losing control, her sobs leaking though her hand as they got louder and harsher.

Ivish started when Emmica awoke, as he wasn't expecting it. The poor girl looked awful, and she looked as though she'd had a terrible nightmare.
He gently wrapped an arm around her shoulders "shh its ok, your going to be alright." He handed her a handkerchief, 'did you have a nightmare?'

Rue took the letter the messenger held out for her, looking at the envelope she saw that it was addressed to her. She frowned, that's strange i know of none who would write me a letter she thought to herself.

She decided to read it later, slipping it into her pocket she hurried off to her garden to pick some flowers for Emmica.

Emmica, lost in her tears and blinded by her upsetness, eagerly cuddled into Ivish as he wrapped his arm around her shoulder. It was a comfort she had lost long before he had taken over he kingdom. It was always studying or sickness, and her father was also busy doing the work of both a king and queen. There was never time for either of them to get the comfort that they needed most. She grabbed at the handkerchief and quickly wipped her eyes and she leaned into his chest, still sobbing and unable to make a proper sentence.

She eventually answered his question with a short nod, her head pressed into his shoulder as she kept her eyes closed, trying to avoid any light as it only made her head hurt even more.

"Yes...A nightmare." She gasped as she sniffed and sobbed against him.

Ivish held her against him as she sobbed, with one hand he gently stroked her hair out of her face. He sat down on the bed next to her and spoke soothingly "its ok, your safe now."

He was quiet a moment, "what did you dream about?" He had many nightmares and he found it helped to talk it out

Emmica was silent for a moment as she started to calm a bit, wipping away her tears with the handkerchief he had given her. She didn't move her head from his shoulder as she spoke quietly.

"My mother's...death." She said, just above a whisper. She had never spoken about it before so it was it was hard for her to get it out and actually talk about it.

When Ivish replied his voice shook a little "i know how you feel, i lost my mother as a child." He rarely spoke of his mother, and then only to Rue. He knew the horrible sadness it caused so he could sympathize.

He suppressed his own sadness as he comforted her, "were you very young?"

Emmica nodded her head slowly as she pulled back from him a bit, her eyes slowly opening to look down into her lap quietly.

"Yes...but I was old enough to remember..." She said softly.

Ivish looked at her sadly "I'm sorry about your mother." He released her for a moment while he reached for the potion bottle, "here the doctor said you must drink this." He waited for a while as she drank, "are you feeling any better? Because you should eat."

He started to get to his feet, "i can send someone or if you'd prefer i can go myself?" He asked kindly, totally understanding if she wanted some time alone.

With a quick and loud gulp, she drank the potion easily, taking medicine was definately nothing new to her. After she was done drinking and she had finally calmed a bit she noticed him pull away. Suddenly her hand darted out and grab ahold of the bottom of his shirt, her eye filled with a look of worry...and possibly fear.

"NO!" She said loudly as she kept him from getting up, she truely didn't want to be alone.

However, she quickly realized what she was doing adn what her actions emplied and pulled her hand back as fast as it had darted out. Her face was red once more, but not with fever, no it was wmbarrassment this time.

"I-I'm sorry...I just...I just..." Her thought was never completed as she turned her gaze away from him once more, her expression filled with shame.

Ivish was quite startled when she shouted but he quickly recovered, he sat back down and took her hand "I'm sorry, i won't leave you until you ask me to."

He smiled at her to show she needn't be embarrassed, "is there anything you need? I can send for it, i don't have to leave."
