"There was an announcement on the radio for all survivors to come to Washington." Aaron said softly with a gentle shrug. "The likelihood of us even making it here was slim, but we managed somehow. We didn't really have any other options..." He felt the familiar comfort of Robin's hand against his back as she could tell it was getting hard for him to talk about. "And we thought that even if we were too late, maybe there would at least be something..or someone here for us to find."

"Turns out there was someone." Robin tried to sound cheery with a wide grin as she gave Torin a pat too, ready to lighten the mood once again. "Whether you like it or not, you're part of the family now." She insisted, finishing off the last of her food and feeling pleasantly satisfied with their makeshift meal. Aaron couldn't help but grin at that as well, though it was slightly apologetic to the other man as his sister was always a bit hasty with words. He didn't want to make him feel uncomfortable.

"Yeah, turns out there was someone." His smile widened, even if only a little bit. "We should probably head out soon. It'll be getting dark." It was never safe to travel at night, and now that was more true than ever.

Torin turned toward the front window in the restaurant, nodding as he did so. "Either way, when the sun does go down, it'll be safer to sleep on the rooftops anyways. Of course, we'll still need someone taking watch... I'll take the first, I'm nowhere close to tired." He turned to Aaron, "And do't worry about your sisters dorky hook-up techniques," Torin winked at the both of them, "Its-... refreshing in a strange, but stupid way." he murmured, finishing off his burger and standing, putting the plate in the sink, even though there was really no point to it, and looking around the shop for something.

His father had this weird habit of taking a cooler with him wherever he went, he'd always sad that it was useful to always have a way to cool things off while being able to store the odd thing. Eventually, the elder man had gotten Torin in the habit of carrying one around with him. Unfortunately, he had lost his cool a little while after he fled his motel and he did find it surprisingly useful. Now he just wanted one to comfort himself. It wouldn't be massively useful nowadays, duffel bags and backpacks were more useful than tiny coolers, but he still wanted to search for one nonetheless. It was like a really strange teddy bear to Torin, reminding him of his father and calming him down. There had to be one in this store, right? It was a restaurant.
