i'm the survivor
Ajax tossed in his sleep, vivid dreams replaying in his mind. The deaths of his friends on repeat like a broken record. Their screams, the golden ichor spilling on the holy surfaces of Olympus, Athena's dying gasps as this
monster ripped the life from her lungs. Its glowing red eyes bore into Zeus' immortal soul and shook him to his core. Gods were IMMORTAL, or so he thought. But he just watched this, this beast, this
Chimera dig into Athena's neck. Zeus roared, thunder booming along with his voice, and a bright flash of lightning threw the beast off the goddess' body. He stood his ground, teeth bared, eyes flashing stormy grey as the lightning formed a ball in his tanned fist. The god of all gods looked up towards the high ground, locking eyes with his titan mother Rhea.
"Take the others and run to Earth. Now Zeus!"
i'm gonna make it
Ajax pulled his jacket tight around his sleeping body as the dream shifted to the moment the group teleported to Earth. He remembers clutching Hera tight as the white light spun around their individual bodies, taking their large, godly forms and making them small and mortal-like. With a flash of light, the gods-now-mortals were in New York City, in the middle of Battery Park, laying on their backs in the dirt. His hand was wrapped tightly around Hera's but the rest of the group lay sprawled fifteen feet from each other. The city, usually bustling, was quiet.
Dead quiet. But few wandered the streets, in small packs. Once they were all situated, the king of gods took charge, naturally. They gave eachother normal, mortal names and decided to get a closer look at the stragglers in the road.
i will survive
The stench is what hit the group first. It was the smell of
death. Zeus held up his hand to signal the group stop about 20 or more feet from the nearby lone wolf. Assuming it might be a a crack-head or a homeless person, he stepped forward and called out to them in a thick greek accent,
"Hello.. do you-" Within a second, its head cracked towards him like a whip. Its bloodshot eyes wild, a sickly orange-ish yellow color. Foam spilled from the corners of its gaping mouth and it let out a guttural screech, alerting the others on the road. With unparalleled speed it lunged towards the godly king and grasp his neck with both hands, wrapping its bony legs around his waist. The creature snapped at his face but zeus fell back, shoving it off him.
"RUN!"
keep on surviving
Ajax's eyes fluttered open, sporting his signature grey-blue hue. The man sat upright and took in his surroundings. It was dark, roughly 5am he felt, and he could hear soft snoring in the room with him. It was a hotel, the Radisson Hotel on Wall Street if he remembered the signage outfront correctly. They had come inside after out running the minor mob of zombies. Zombies?! He shuddered and shook his head, his hair falling flat in his eyes. How in the gods did they not know that Earth was overrun by the living dead? He grew angry at his brother, Hades, for not speaking up sooner about this ordeal. That bastard, always mulling around in the underworld like some
king of the dead. Ajax sighed and leaned back, eyes closing, and decided it was far too early for him to worry about such matters. He would deal with that later.
