For hundreds of years, everyone knew it was coming already. One way or another, it was sure to come; whether it was going to be their star exploding, the ozone layer completely breaking, the oceans rising to flood the land, even a possible meteor coming to crush the cities; the end of the Earth. Although humanity prepared the best they could for any possible disaster to either prolong the inevitable.

However, nothing could've prepared them for what was to come. The year was 2493, life of everyone on Earth was going on as normal as it always was; without so much as the slightest warning though, the skies quickly darkened as the very moon and sun was quickly shielded by massive triangular shaped ships. The shock the filled the planet caused absolute silence to spread throughout the planet for a few moments before strange creatures of all different shapes and sizes began to descend from the sky and started to mass murder innocent civilians all around the globe.

It was only out of a miracle that as cities all around the planet started to crumble and the military being defeated left and right from all around the world that humans were able to sneak off into hiding within the mountains of China, Everest, Mt. Fuji and even Mt. Rushmore. Hiding off within these very places were the last remaining numbers of humanity and where they lived for several years during the time that a new secret project finally came to light for the public to know about. Project ARK and Project EDEN. These project was supposed to remain a secret until it was confirmed the day that the planet was going to end because of some kind of other disaster aside from being attacked by an unknown enemy like this.

Though, with the circumstances as they were; the projects were rushed all that much more to be completed. Project ARK was to create multiple intergalactic ships that was able to leave the planet's atmosphere with ease so that ordinary humans wouldn't need any sort of training to be able to climb into the ship and leave the planet into space without any side affects or pain.

Project EDEN at this point was already near it's completion, there being hundreds of thousands of workers and scientists far off into space away from planet Earth, building a gigantic space station that was going to be able to hold the entire population of the Earth without the concern of any other natural disasters but as well as to slightly simulate a close representation of Earth.

With the rush of the completion of both projects, in a year to two time span; the projects were fully finished and by this point, the ships that invaded Earth had left yet the unknown threat roamed the planet in search of survivors that they killed or did worse to. Their technology littered the planet all over, and any of those who attempted escape from being imprisoned were killed off without the slightest thought of remorse.

As the day finally came to leave the planet, each of the mountains began to open massive hanger like doors on the side of the mountains to allow the ships known as ARKs to leave the planet. Due to the technology and how desperate humanity had been, the ships were able to leave orbit without too much damage done to them by the cannons that the unknown threat had planted onto the surface all over the planet. Being able to finally escape Earth and eventually reach the giant space station, life slowly began to return to normal.

It was only a matter of time that the space station that was supposed to considered a new Earth became well known throughout the universe to even other races. Slowly enough, one after another of other races started to pour into the station asking and pleading for assistance due to how their situations had become similar because of the same exact threat that humanity had also faced. Of course, this took a while of debating between government officials but yet eventually it came to an agreement that these alien races were allowed to join into the new home of humanity and soon enough gaining the same rights as humans; even if it might've taken quite the long amount of time due to the distrust in aliens after the invasion of Earth.

Sitting at his desk while he tapped the back of his pen on the oak table, his right mechanical elbow rested on the table as he leaned his head to one side to allow his cheek to rest against the palm of his hand. There had been a stack of paperwork that was given to him on his right while a much smaller stack had been on his left that he had already gone through and signed whatever he needed to do so. The page that was before him at the moment was the most troublesome however; three squads had just gone completely dark on the radar for over 24hours now, the last time he had heard from them was when he had sent them out on a mission into the restricted zone to check on the current status of it's condition. Ever since the battle with the Xeloth the first time years ago, even the MDS have refused to check on the condition of the strangely infected area of the space station.

Knowing well enough that the squads that he had sent they would know how to get through the sealed entrance, the silver haired male did not expect to still not even get so much as a status report back after such a long period of time had passed. Assuming only the worse possible outcome, the male continued to ponder what he was to do next about the situation at hand. If he were to sign off the paperwork, it would be to assume that the squads have been killed by either the infection slipping into their suits by some possible outcome or something or someone had killed them down there.

This person was none other than Axel Takahashi, otherwise known to be the head commander of the SATU. Not only did he take in reports from squad captains during and after the missions that they were sent on, he was also one of the people that made decisions whether or not a group should be considered KIA or MIA if a certain amount of time had passed without any response from the squad.
While Axel knew well enough that if he were to sign the paper, it would just be another issue out of the way and he could continue to finish up the rest of his paperwork to be free of this annoyance, the idea of just stating the squads were all killed just from a simple sign of a paper and to give up on all those men and women felt wrong to him.

"Ah...what the hell...? I can't send more units out to search if they really are dead...but I can't just say they are dead without any kind of proof." Cursing silently to himself underneath his breath; in the middle of his thoughts, the sound of knocking on his office door caught Axel off guard as he lifted his gaze only to see a much younger male who had been dressed in the attire that clearly revealed he was still new to the SATU. "Sir. U-um...the higher ups...are a-asking for an audience with you." Nervously the newer recruit saluted as he brought the message to Axel who only nodded his head and waved him off; he didn't even need to head to the meeting and yet he already knew what it was going to be about already; it was going to be questioning about what his decision was going to be about the three squads missing.

A large man stood in the office as well, off to the side away from the man behind the desk, leaning against the wall was a massive man. over six feet and weighing in at two hundred and fifty pounds and while not a mountain of a man his size would be impressive to most save maybe the Raag and certainly give strangers a moment of pause if they were between him and a dark alley in some shadier areas of the station they all resided on. Sharp features marred by scaring under his left eye and across his nose drew attention away from the massive mane of a beard and pale green eyes looking out into the room.
At the man's side sat a scabbard which led up to a simple cross guard and hilt, the scabbard conformed to the blade within taking the shape of a Kriegsmesser, or war knife if you wanted a literal translation. the scabbard and by extension the blade sat at three and a half feet long with the last foot of the whole weapon, making up the handle while a small power core sat in the cross guard that hummed with power and glowed an eerie yellow.

The man crossed his arms over his chest as the young recruit walked in and told the man behind the desk about a meeting with the higher-ups.
"I told you...should have sent me, would have been back here with a report and in time for tea." The smooth bass of the man's voice filled the room. "We can't send whelps out for this task Axel, most of them aren't ready. Now we either right them off or send more in after to find them or their bodies since we both know MDS ain't gonna provide us with any help."
This man was Otto, no last name or at least no known last name. Second in command of the SATU and Axel Takahashi's right-hand man. "As usual I would advise some more patience for the teams or at least for a smaller, faster party to go try and confirm the fate of the expedition but it seems the powers that be aren't going to allow that." The last part was spoken in more of a low growl as Otto walked forward and leaned on Axel's desk with his hands. "I know you don't want to sign that paper writing them off as dead, I'd label them missing until we have more evidence and give the suits some flowery political speak so they can unruffle their feathers about it, at least for a little while."

Otto soon took a seat across from Axel before speaking again. "Though I am more inclined to think they are just looking to provide another roadblock to us, less they think were operating without their oversite." It was no secret of the distrust some on the station had for SATU despite their force being vastly outnumbered by the MDS, but they were still an unknown to most people and the unknown tended to inspire fear. Otto leaned back in his chair and looked at Axel, his fingered laced in his lap.

Waking up was never easy for Sora. Usually staying up late at night either doing research or just simply to pass the time it made the mornings that much harder for him. After looking in the mirror you could easily see the marks of not getting enough sleep. Tired eyes combined with dark heavy bags under his eyes, you could also tell this was a common occurrence. After running his hands through his short jet black hair he decided what to do. Sora quickly brushed his teeth and took a shower. He could already tell it was going to be a long day by observing how everyone was acting. It was apparent another squad hadn't made their way back to base, and it was taking a toll on the rest of the members. One such member was Otto. In training, and before Sora had settled into the position of Squad Captain, it was Otta who trained and mentored him. Even today Sora often seeks advice from Otta if something perplexes him enough. However being so close to the second in command of the SATU, Sora picked up on some things that were not always relayed by the higher-ups. Worries and stresses. The actual chance of failure for certain missions. While it was unnerving to actually know some of these things, it put Sora's mind at rest.

It was something he was going to have to do again today. Sora realized that the SATU was having an issue from the fact a few squads haven't come back, but he wanted to know the extent of the problem. While SATU soldiers are not superhumans, they have things that put them a cut above the average MDS soldier so something of this caliber was suspicious. After going to get some breakfast, Sora decided he would find Otto and figure out what's going wrong. If this problem persists, it could very well be his squad sent in next. After the past few days, it's something he would rather prepare for. While making his way towards the office of Otto, he was told that Axel had requested him, and a meeting was taking place at the moment. Due to what has been going on, Sora could already tell it wouldn't go over well to interrupt that meeting for nothing so he decided to get some practice in. While Sora is good with a sword, he knew there was always someone better and he couldn't accept that. He braces himself of another hard day of training, and another long day of wondering about what's to come.

Sebastian was uncharacteristically quiet as he ate his breakfast.

Word travels faster than light, it seemed; it was barely half an hour into the morning, and half the base already knew about the missing squads. Seb didn't like not being in the know; he had gotten the information off of some grunt in exchange for a few extra hours of quiet time. The information was quite sobering, however; he wondered if he'd be the next person to be sent in to check.

No doubt the higher-ups have already scheduled a meeting. That means no Silvertongue Seb, and no cozying up to the top brass so he can get the assignment. Instead, he opted to head for the training area - getting some practice was always a good idea, and he wanted to see if any of his fellow squad captains were present as well. He'd totally be down for a bet right about now.

However, there was still a lingering, eerie feeling. Something ain't right here, his brain said. This is pretty serious stuff.

Sebastian chose to ignore that feeling as he walked down corridors after corridors, greeting everyone he came across with a casual upward nod - less so for his COs - until he bumped into someone he actually somewhat knew.

"Sora!" It was the Alpha Squad Captain. "Long time, buddy. Whacha doin'? Headed to training?"

After the recruit had left his office leaving Axel alone with none other than his second in command; Otto still in the room, the silver haired male only kept silent while he leaned over his own desk to keep both his palms rested onto his forehead and his gaze locked down on the sheet of paper in front of him. Soon enough, as Otto spoke of sending him and his squad for the mission rather than the squads that he picked out for the mission, Axel would only shake his head in response at first. "It should've been a simple task, it was only to recon the contaminated zone and check for anything abnormal from the usual. Something went wrong down there..." His own response was low to a near whisper as his gaze shifted among the names of all of those that were in the squad, the entire time his thoughts wandered on what could've happened to the men and women that went down to the contaminated district.

Knowing well enough the higher ups weren't going to wait too long for Axel to make his appearance with the obvious fact that Otto brought up on how Axel wouldn't wish to write off the men and women as dead without any proof, he stepped around his desk just to head for the door that exited the office. "Otto. Grab your gear. Go find Sebastian and Sora and head to the contaminated zone, keep all radio silence. I will meet you all there within the next hour. We're going to find them whether we have permission or not." With his order, Axel quickly made his leave of his office just to head straight for the political district.

It took a mere ten to twenty minutes to reach the political district as he stepped off the hover bus that the public used as transportation to get around if they did not have their own vehicles. Dressed in a black suit and tie to make sure he kept the proper look before meeting with the council, Axel headed for the largest building in the district all while keeping his gaze forward even while many of the business men and women eyed him since he clearly did not look the part by facial appearance to be in this particular district.
By the time the male entered the main meeting room of the council, it was clear enough by glance that this was the right room as the massive room consisted of a single lit path leading to a circular pad that was also lit; high above sat five shadowy figures that all locked their gaze down upon Axel once he stood at the center of the circular pad.

Once the five had leaned forward, it was easily revealed that each of the five members were one of the five races that consisted on the space station. The human and Klymm were female while the other three were males; it was clear on all their faces that they were highly disappointed in Axel as they were aware of the disappearance of the squads in the zone that Axel had sent them into. The first to speak was none other than the female Klymm. "So? What do you have to say for yourself, Axel Takahashi?" Even with the question being directed towards him in a way that appeared as though the council member was giving him a chance to defend himself, Axel was far too used to these meetings and how the council viewed the SATU to realize it was going to be far from that easy. "They aren't dead, just give me--" Speaking mid sentence, the male Raag snarled and roared in a clear fit of rage to interrupt Axel. "You expect us to give you anything?! How many men and women will you send to their deaths?! You and your SATU are a menace to this station! You're lucky enough that we don't just obliterate you where you stand and jettison the rest of those good for nothings right now!" With the constant yelling and growling that came from the Raag councilman, eventually the Slekah placed his palm upon the Raag's shoulder to attempt to calm him.

"Calm down my friend. Surely he has his reasons for sending them down there, right Mr. Takahashi?" Speaking in a much more calm tone, the silver haired male would only nod his head as a response showing no signs of fear in his own gaze despite the fact that he knew none of the council members currently were on his side in the end. "Then what exactly were you doing down there? You know as well as we all do that area is strictly off limits to everyone on the station. What could be so interesting that you would go and send your own squads down into that hazdous area?" The human was the next to speak as Axel kept silent still for the next few moments before finally exhaling a low sigh just before deciding to speak. "Last week, during our usual scans of the station to make sure there are no damages to the hull anywhere that the maintance team might not be aware of...one the members from my intelligence team came across an unknown signal and a spike in energy from the containmated district. Something is down there, we don't know what it is but it's big...and if there is a possiblity it could be a threat--" Yet again, mid-sentence; Axel was interrupted, this time by the Qryx as he just spoke out of nowhere in his slightly elderly voice. "Then the MDS will take care of it when the time comes. Axel, your SATU group might be powerful however you lack in numbers as well as military might. You all may have your suits and strange power, however the MDS has weapons that numbers that your group will never be able to match up to. Just stand down for once and leave the authority to us and our power."

The savage-looking man nodded to his commander as the orders were spoken, Otto took his leave immediately as he passed through the doors of Axel's office Otto started on the way to the training area where Sora usually was if he wasn't running a mission or speaking with Otto and usually where Sora was Sebastian wasn't too far behind the lad. It didn't take much time for Otto to find both the men he was looking for on the footpaths to the training area, neither of the two had seen Otto yet and it gave him time to think. He wasn't a fan of Sebastian but felt no real animosity towards the man even after the incident, though the distaste the man held for people like Otto certainly didn't help but for the most part. His thoughts then turned to Sora, Otto's somewhat apprentice, a young man with anger in his heart at the loss of his family in the attack on the station. Otto saw great potential in the young man but how much was to be seen.
Otto walked up between the two men, he leaned in close and put his arms over their respective shoulders to seem like it was just three buddies having a chat but Otto used the opportunity to steer them towards a quieter area of the path. "Grab your gear and meet me, were going to the contaminated zone, Axel is meeting us after he calms some of the fires he's dealing with right now. This is off the record and the books so complete radio silence and total stealth until we get there and meet with Axel so that means we're going through the slums and lower level, don't forget your hand sanitizer Sebastion so you don't catch the poor." Otto spoke that last part a little tongue in cheek as he patted both me on the shoulders and slipped away to go suit up for the mission ahead.

"Sora!" Called out by the Delta Squad Captain. "Long time, buddy. Whacha doin'? Headed to training?"

Of course, Sora wasn't exactly sure what to say. While he wasn't ignorant enough to try and act like everything was fine and dandy, and there were just best friends it wouldn't be possible. However, Sora knew he had to play the game and get along, or get punished through any number of terrible events. Losing face and promotions. Getting terrible jobs and maybe even getting de-ranked. It's something that isn't taken lightly, as teamwork is crucial to survival, even more for the SATU.

"Sebastian. It depends on how you look at it, my friend." Said rather stoically. "You know me well. Of course, that's where I'm heading." It always is.

While walking towards the training area and making small talk with Sebastian, Sora noticed someone behind him. It's a military base after all, there are going to be a good number of people making their way around each doing their important tasks. However, it was a surprise to see that it was Otto behind him, and he put his arm around both of them. After noticing where Otto was leading them, he noticed the look on Otto's face.

"Grab your gear and meet me, were going to the contaminated zone, Axel is meeting us after he calms some of the fires he's dealing with right now. This is off the record and the books so complete radio silence and total stealth until we get there and meet with Axel so that means we're going through the slums and lower level, don't forget your hand sanitizer Sebastion so you don't catch the poor." quietly whispered Otto. The chide towards Sebastian didn't go unnoticed, especially by Sora.

While this news didn't catch Sora by surprise, he wasn't expecting to be apart of the action. Though in hindsight he thought it did make sense, especially with his and Sebastian's close relationship with Otto. Secret missions usually only stay a secret when the people you share it with are trustworthy. After listening for a moment he simply nodded at Otto as he walked away. Sora was heading to practice, and it seems he was in luck. There is no better practice than combat. Something that forces you to adapt and become better to survive. Sora wanted to be the best, and this was the quickest way to that goal.

"Well, you heard him. This sounds like a little bit of fun, so I'm sure that you are absolutely ecstatic." Eagerly stated by Sora. While he was very serious during missions, it had been some time since something this secretive has happened and even Sora can appreciate that. "I'm gonna go get everything ready and perfect. I suggest you do the same." Sora got louder with each step as he turned around and begin talking towards his room, intentionally being vague just in case anyone was near. He lazily waved behind his back as he turned the corner, organizing his thoughts to the mission ahead.

Sebastian chuckled good-naturedly as Otto sent the jab his way. "Yessir." It's not like he truly despised the people in the slums; it's just that... well... it's not somewhere you'd want to be, and preferably not even get close to.

Waving back at Sora (even though he can't see it), Sebastian turned around and headed for his room, moving just fast enough that people knew to get out of his way and not ask question, but not fast enough to appear as being in a big hurry. Once in, he closed and locked the door, and did a little victory dance.

Finally, he's going on another mission. This one sounds juicy too, but sucks that it was gotta be completely off-the-books. It took away some of his excitement, but did not completely kill the mood. Nevertheless, he packed his suit into a small case he's requisitioned for himself, and left his quarters. From there, he made a beeline for the armoury, head full of anticipation for the upcoming task. The Contaminated Zone is not somewhere I can just screw around, he reasoned, but I can still have some fun...

"Field training exercises." He told the woman behind the counter, who logged it and retrieved his weapons, packed neatly into another case. He nodded in thanks, and left the armoury. Gotta find the others now. Wonder if I should just wait here?

As expected, the council did not seem to have any trust whatsoever in any word that Axel had to say let alone approve of anything he wanted to do. After the final statement from the Qryx council member about how the council and the MDS would take care of anything that were to come up, the five members of the council went silent as well as Axel as the lights shut off one after another within the chamber.
With a sigh, the silvered haired male turned his back to where the council members once sat just to make his leave of the room and eventually leave the political district as well, although he had already known all too well that the council was not going to approve him of any of his actions or requests, it did not change his resolve that he was going to head into that area and find those men and women of the squads he sent down there. Whether they were still alive or dead, Axel wanted to see it with his own eyes as well as figure out what happened to inform the families if needed to in the end.

It taken near half an hour to return to SATU headquarters using the public transportation and having to walk the rest of the way to reach the headquarters just so that the public and authorities remained unaware of where SATU headquarters was. At the entrance stood two guards equipped fully in the same designed SATU suits as they saluted the return of their commander only to receive a nod in response to them before heading directly to the armory. The entire way there, his thoughts wandered on what exactly he was going to find in the restricted zone; the last time he was there all that he found was fungus growing on literally everything and the smell was like that of a rotting corpse.

Progressing his way through the facility to reach the armory, on his way towards the armory Axel noticed as to how Sebastian was making his leave from the very place he was heading to currently; giving the male a pat on the shoulder and a whisper as he passed by him. "Make sure you get your armor on when you reach the entrance, also make sure you're not followed." Just as he had passed him, Axel continued his way towards the armory as he approached the woman behind the counter who gasped at the sight of the commander approaching the armory; informing her to gather his weapons and armor, she nodded quickly in response just to head to the backroom where a small wrist watch like item along with his weaponry sat on a rack ready for use, packing everything into a somewhat large case, the woman returned handing it to Axel with the question of what was so important that was also grabbing his gear.

Without so much as a response other than a 'thank you' for his gear, Axel turned his back to the woman and began to make his leave of the area so that he could head to the rendezvous point that he had told Otto to inform the other Sebastian and Sora about.

Otto sat in the second story of an abandoned tenement building, he peered out behind a broken window out into the streets that led to the contaminated zone. He had worn a rather large poncho over his armor to conceal himself as he walked through the slums, sometimes it was nice to have so many Xenos on the station as no one would bat an eye at a bulky cloaked figure in the slums let alone feel the need to report it. His HUD inside his helmet pinged out another sonar pulse towards the contaminated zone before returning an all-clear ping, Otto wasn't so cautious in this area as no one came to this place anymore, of course, you'd have a scrapper move through every once in a while but they hardly stayed long enough to be a credible witness if they saw him but today something didn't feel right about the contaminated zone. The weather was unusually dour as a slight drizzle had set in, even for all the planning and money that went into the station the weather patterns were all their own, though the weather in and around the contaminated zone was always...uncomfortable and the slow drizzle starting to form overhead wasn't a good omen.
His fingers flexed in his gauntlets as the low hum of power came from them, joining the sword at his hip, the sound and the feeling of the two took away the annoying sensation in his neck where his suit connected to him as he waited for the other three to meet him.

Rack’am peered out of the window of a MDS transport ship, his half-eyed gaze peering over the change of scenery that ran by his window every second that passed. On the outside he appeared to have your average fatigued “overworked officer” demeanor, but hiding beneath that act was a excited and curious Lupkanin that was fascinated by the human station. He was getting a rare opportunity to get a wider glimpse of such a foreign station, and he was enjoying every bit of it. From the passenger window he got to see many of the districts laid out across the station before he finally caught sight of his destination.

The MDS headquarters was a sight to behold. It was average compared to Lupkanin base building doctrine, but to Rack’am it was worthy of commendation, especially with current events. The view was short lived however before the ship made its docking maneuvers on one of the landing pads. The cabin doors opened shortly after, revealing to the Liason Officer the world beyond the drop ship’s window. Like clockwork the Lupkanin unbuckled himself from his seat and stood with a range bag slung over his shoulder as well as his satchel, the range bag itself arranged to be neatly clinging to his back while his satchel rested on his side. He paused to give the transport ship pilot a respective nod before stepping off onto the landing bad.

Location Update to MDS Landing Pad

Upon disembarking Rack’am turned to watch as the transport vessel made its ascension back into the skies. It wasn’t long until he was alone on the docking pad. The Liason Officer was confused to say the least for he was expecting to meet someone at the pad like usual. The thought of navigating a military structure Rack’am was unfamiliar with teased at the Lupkanin’s curious half, but something in the back of his mind told him to remain at the landing pad.

Rack’am his surroundings for a optimal location to wait at and the best candidate revealed to him was the edge of the landing pad; a great view despite the dangers of falling from a high height. It was a calculated risk that to the young Liason Officer proved to be nothing severe. After a moment’s pause the Lupkanin stepped over and sat on the northern edge of the landing pad, his legs that now hung over the edge swaying idly in the open air as he waited for a representative of MDS. It was a brief respite before going to work, and with how rare breaks have become for the Lupkanin, Rack’am couldn’t help but settle down.

After turning the corner and waving his goodbye to Sebastian, Sora made his way to the armory to pick up his gear. He knew he wanted to do it quickly before Sebastian comes around, as it would look suspicious for everyone to pull out their gear at once. Sora made his approach to the counter of the armory before finally being noticed by the clerk.

"Good morning. What can I do for you today?" she asked. If Sora wasn't on a mission he might've asked this woman out for drinks, but as always, now isn't the time. "Could I possibly get my gear miss? I'm due for some field training in not too long." Before he knew it, Sora was briskly walking back to his place to get ready.

After putting on his suit, gathering his weapons, and covering himself to hide everything Sora started to make his way through the slums. While it isn't as dangerous if you know which alleys and paths to take, it's quite a distance that isn't exactly the easiest to navigate. Robberies and killings were a frequent occurrence in the slums as well, so it paid to take the scenic route more often than you would think. Unexpectedly, Sora heard a gunshot that was disturbingly close. He was only about halfway to the rendezvous point, so there was still quite a bit of distance to go and Otto most likely wouldn't have heard it. Any other time Sora would've snuck past, but he wasn't taking any precautions this time due to the secretive nature of the mission. After quietly sneaking up to the area where the shot was heard, he saw someone standing over a seemingly lifeless body. A few more steps were all it took to get a better view of the person on top.

"Sebastian...?" Sora quietly whispered to himself. While he didn't make himself known quite yet, he wasn't sure of what to do. There are a million things that could've happened, and a million different scenarios that could've taken place. He stared at the scene before him, trying to comprehend what exactly he was observing.

A few minutes ago, Sebastian had also elected to take a similar route. His path took him to a side street beside the one Sora took, and while the two were at best a hundred meters apart, neither knew where the other were. However, it was when he turned off the street at an intersection into a street that was somehow even shadier than the last one (seriously, it's like the slums of the slums down here) that shit hit the fan.

The first hint was a constant feeling of being followed. It started about five minutes back, a few minutes after he stepped off the public transport. Despite being in civilian attire, it was still considerably better than anything you see in the slums, and it was sure to attract some attention - but Sebastian expected it. What he - foolishly - did not, however, was the tail he picked up.

The second hint was the lack of people. It was uncharacteristically quiet here, and every hair on the back of his neck stood up. Ambush. But who? How? Why? There was no reason for something like that to happen here... or is there?

Two men stepped out of a small alleyway in front of him. Sebastian groaned as he heard shuffling behind him - whoever was following him had already caught up to him. The two blocking his path, meanwhile, were peeking at him with a predatory gaze. "You look lost, boy." One of them said in a nasally - could it have been anything else? - voice, and the other laughed as if it was the funniest joke ever told by mankind. "We can point you the direction you gotta go if you..." he gestured to the case in Sebastian's hand. "...give us that."

Sebastian sighed. "No can do, pal."

"No cannot do, mate." The one behind him spoke up. "See, ya give us that or you don't get outta here alive. And I'm sure you know ain't nobody ever comes down here looking for a dead man."

"Correct." Sebastian eyed the two in front of him, and shifted his gaze to the last, who was smiling with a disgusting mouth full of yellowed and blackened teeth as he twirled a crowbar about in his hands. "Well, I sure hope no one ever finds you."

"Wha-" The question - or a demand - was shut down as soon as it had started; with lightning speed, Sebastian pulled the Sunlance from its holster and, without even looking, fired a shot into the man's chest. He went down soundlessly, falling to the ground like a sack of bricks as Sebastian trained his eyes on the other two. "Come on. You're up."

They ran so fast Sebastian could almost see their afterimage.

He sighed, put the gun back in its holster, and kicked the downed man - already a corpse by now - in the head. "Dumb fuck." He mumbled, and went about his way, albeit at a slightly faster pace and with significantly more situational awareness.

He never saw Sora.

Kelvin walked through the corridors at a brisk pace. He was on his way to meet a Lupkanin Liaison Officer - he wasn't actually supposed to be the one doing it, really, but the other officer was pulled away for something else, and so the duty fell to him.

Opening the door to the landing pad, he easily located the alien. Looking down to make sure his uniform was in good condition, he slowed his pace and strolled over the the figure sitting fearlessly on the edge of the landing pad. Hopefully the Lupkanin can hear him walking.

"Warrant Officer, uh... Rack'am? Apologies, not too sure how to address you." Kelvin spoke. "Are you the liaison officer?"

Rack'am peered over the vast military zone that extended beyond the landing pad he sat on, pondering over the variety of activities and operations that were going on beyond his line of sight. There were many things both he and his superiors knew nothing about, mysteries currently out of their circle of information. Internal thoughts swirled around in the Lupkanin's head, should they trust him? Should he trust them?

Such swirling thoughts came to a prompt halt the moment the silence around Rack'am became disturbed. The Lupkanin's ears shot up erect and he naturally stiffened up, his eyes wide with surprise. Once he turned to see a uniformed man approach him Rack'am relaxed once more, his expression of subtle shock being quickly erased as he stood and stepped away from the edge.

"Warrant Officer, uh... Rack'am? Apologies, not too sure how to address you." Kelvin spoke. "Are you the liaison officer?"

Rack'am nodded, taking a brief moment to glance over the man that stood before him. He caught a glimpse of the man's insignia, designating him as someone who was of a rank above him. The Lupkanin straightened his posture once he realized his position in the discussion, but he didn't take the formality of saluting the man. Instead, the young officer extended his right hand, offering a handshake.

"That would be correct, sir. I am Rack'am Rulfgrum. . . A few of your colleagues have designated me with the alias 'Rack', I assume that is more simple for everyone to say, yes?"

Rack'am offered a smile after giving his introduction, one that breached his typical 'disciplined posture'. He tugged on the strap that was attached to his rifle bag, shifting the back on his back just slightly before he continued.

"... I understand I am to be attached to your unit, yes? Or am I expected to be elsewhere?"

Fire. Fire all around him. The heat grew by the second, and a looming figure stood before the prone Leon, he tried to stand, but his numb limbs wouldn't respond. The harder he tried, the heavier his body felt, the fire was starting to reach him. The shadowy figure would laugh as it walked away. Leon tried to scream at the figure, but no sound would come from his mouth. The fire started enveloping him. He could do nothing but watch. Until...

BOOM!

Leon jumped violently in his body, as a scream escaped him. He was sweating profusely, his hands were shaking. A dream, or rather, a nightmare. The very same one he occasionally has. After taking a few moments to regain composure, he made one last deep exhalation through his nose.

"Dammit Marcus..."

The general shook his head to drift away from his nightmare, and instead, focusing on starting his daily routine. He stood up and stretched. Looking at the hour made him realize he was a little behind the usual, so he rushed to tidy his room, and dressed up for his daily routine of exercise. A green tank top with black track pants and sneakers.
Leon left the building and looked up, it seemed to be an alright day. With that thought in mind, he started running his way to one of the main training buildings of the MDS as a warm up. On his way there, he sent a message to his right hand, Kelvin.

[Good morning, lieutenant. Has anything occurred that requires my attention? If not, I'll be at the Training Facility B]

A small race later, he found himself at the facility. As usual, everyone saluted him, which he acknowledged with a nod. One set of stairs later, he arrived at his destination: The obstacle course.
As happy as always when doing this, he approached the structures, and took one deep breath. An instant later he started running on walls, swinging from horizontal bars, flipping over barricades, among other impressive stunts that he thoroughly enjoyed. After finishing his usual routine and taking a quick shower, Leon headed back to his quarters, to get ready for his day at the office. Halfway through, however, he received a message from none other than The Council. It explained the SATU's commander visit to them, and the task at hand for him. Once he finished reading, he rushed the remaining distance to his quarters, while sending yet another message to Kelvin.

[Lieutenant, I need you to get another unit, a pilot with a ship, and yourself geared up ASAP at Landing Pad 9. I'll debrief you in person. Keep this to yourself and the units you pick.]

With the message sent, Leon got his gear on and ran for the landing pad where he would wait for the units he requested to arrive.

After retrieving his gear into a armored case, Axel took his leave of the facility without so much as a word to anyone about his destination. Heading down to the lower levels of the facility where the vehicles that belonged to the SATU were parked, Axel went straight for the motorcycle that was parked nearest to the exit. Opening up a compartment that was underneath the seat just for him to store the large case full of his equipment; as he climbed onto the seat after closing the compartment, he placed his right palm onto the center of the vehicle as the sound of a male voice responded to the touch in an instant. [[DNA Scan Confirmed. Welcome Commander Axel Takahashi. Please input coordinates.]] As the A.I spoke, without a word Axel entered the coordinates to simply reach the slums before reaching for the handles to prepare himself for the trip, just as the destination was confirmed the motorcycle instantly rushed out of the facility to head to his desired destination.

Since the slums was not exactly a place where most normal citizens would head to purposely, the time it took to reach the slums was short. Stopping near where he was to meet up with Otto, Sora and Sebastian; after Axel helped himself off from the motorcycle and retrieving his gear, the vehicle quickly zoomed off to return to SATU headquarters.
Turning his head from one side to the next just to take in the scenery, even though this was the lowest section of the station, the buildings still extended high to the point that just looking up at them, one could still not see where it ended. With a low sigh, the white haired male shook his head just to progress his way towards where he was to meet up with the rest of the members that he called for this particular mission.

Knowing well enough which areas he was to avoid just so that he wouldn't have to deal with smugglers and ambushers, it may had taken him a bit longer however he eventually reached the stairway that was covered in all manner of police tape that stated the area beyond was off limits. Ignoring the tape, he stepped around it just to head down the stairway until it lead him into a narrow passage way that was full of sewage water up to the ankles along with cobwebs and debris from the ceiling appearing to be ready to crumble at any point.
Continuing on the path for a manner of minutes, soon enough Axel came up to the large sealed bulk doors that would lead him into the contaminated zone; dropping his case onto the concrete sewage covered floor, he placed his thumb into a small slot on the side of the case just for it read his DNA before the case popped open revealing his swords as well as his sniper rifle that was disassembled currently. Since the other three hadn't reached his location just yet, he took the time to reassemble his rifle as well as inspect his blades to make sure everything was still in top condition. As for his suit, two small wristband-like pieces of equipment rested right above the swords and rifle that Axel took and clamped them onto each of his wrists; Axel had his suit designed to be formed from nanobot technology so that he could easier conceal the suit if needed in an instant and re-enter it just as quickly in dire situations, the risk for this was the idea that if he were to be hit with an EMP type of an attack, it would send not only shocks through the suit to the point of nearly being unable to move but as well as the shocking sensations would be sent through his nerves.

After making sure his equipment was all in order, Axel brought an index finger up to his right ear to reconnect to communication to see if he could get any attention from the other three and see what their situation was as well as figure out when they would reach his destination.
"Otto, Sora, Sebastian? Come in. What's your ETA?"

As Otto's radio crackled to life with Axel's voice he reached up to respond. "Right here." Otto's gruff voice crackled out of his suit's coms as he stepped out of the shadows. Otto had gotten in the sewers after finishing his scans above ground and had been waiting for the others to arrive, he wouldn't admit it but he had forgotten about the sewer entrance to the contaminated zone for a bit since it'd been a bit of time since he last was in the area, he almost wasn't there and if the situation wasn't as grim as it was he might have been tempted to make a joke about getting forgetful in his old age but now wasn't the time or place.
"Took some scans above ground before you arrived, no life for a way into the zone, the ruined buildings, and other debris from the fight was keeping me from scanning any deeper though." As Otto spoke his suit's AI sent the reports to Axel's suit for him to view as warranted or needed. "And I assume your meeting went as well as expected?" Otto asked his commander knowing full well how most of the rest of the station viewed them. "I suppose I understand their caution of us, after all, do we even know who funds us or builds these suits of ours?" It was mostly rhetorical but Otto really didn't know which if he didn't know meant the government of the station probably didn't know either and that meant they weren't in control which is a bureaucrat worst-case scenario if there ever was one.

Kyra's jaw clenched slightly as she lazily chewed at a piece of gum, occasionally popping it between her teeth. The heavy metal of the dropship creaked around her as she settled the GR-50, or 'Pops' as Kyra lovingly called it, down on the pad. Flipping some switches, Kyra powered down the engines and let them fall silent.

Removing her gear and stepping out of the ship, she gave the nose an affectionate pat before making her way other to where Kelvin stood speaking with the new arrival she'd just flown in. She stuck a hand into a pocket and kept a casual air about her even though, technically both men out ranked her.

"How's your stomach, boss?" Kyra said giving the Lupkanin a grin and a playful wink, referring to the little welcoming joy ride she'd given him.
