Since Murder III: Silent Hill...
Twenty years. Twenty full years since Ellie and Joel visited Silent Hill.
Over seven thousand days did she spend alone in the world. Literally all alone. No living creature to be found, anywhere. No birds, no dogs, no humans... Only the dead. Those infected were the only things they didn't take away from her.
Twenty years of complete solitude, and yet she didn't age a day. Whatever world she was sent into, it wasn't normal, not natural. Ellie should've been 34 years old by now, but she still looked the same, felt the same. She was the same. And every single day was the god damn same. It was hell itself, and no one was there to share it with her.
There was no way out. No possible escape from this endless torture. Even if she took her own life, she would just end up lying on the street, seeing the dawn when she opened her eyes.
Until this one time...
(this isn't a spoiler for The Last Of Us, it's just a game over scene)
Now...
This time, Ellie didn't wake up to the sight of a rising sun.
She was awoken by two guards who immediately escorted her to a beautiful, warm room that just screamed out the word 'wealth'. "Another fucking dream..." she mumbled. These men holding her couldn't be real. When meeting the talking cat reading a book, she was convinced it was just a dream. She completely ignored the cat, but put the map into her green backpack anyway. Just in case, y'know.
After that, she turned around and ran back down the stairs, but stopped halfway. "... Gotta wake myself up" she decided. "Best way to do that..."
She fell. From halfway down the stairs, she just let herself fall down. It was painful. Very painful, but she was convinced it was going to wake her from the dream she was having. After many painful bumps, she ended up lying on her back in front of the stairs, her body hurting almost all over. But she didn't moan or complain.
"... I'm not awake! I'M NOT FUCKING AWAKE! Wake me up! WAKE ME UUUUUP!" she screamed out loud like a crazy little girl.
