The Lost Soul

Realizing that the butterfly thing was back, he jumped. Why?? What was the point?? He sighed, almost deflating before once again continuing.

Enla giggled a little at his visible defeat, returning to twirling around his head.

Eventually, he got bored and realized he had absolutely no idea where he was. Or how to get back to Raine's house.

Enla giggled. "Lost, are we?"

"Yup. But I don't need your help. I haven't crossed that many streets…" He started walking back the way he had thought he had came.

Enla shrugged and followed. "If you insist, human."

He didn't respond to the pixie, walking with his hands in his pockets.

Enla went quiet as she followed, spinning around him and dancing a little.

He had a moment of…not quite depression, but more like confusion. He couldn't understand how a creature, let alone people, could be as happy as Enla was, how they could wake up and be happy and ready to face another day.

He wasn't sad right now, but when he had woken up not that long before with no memories, with no sense of who he was, who he was supposed to be...it hadn't really affected him until now. Now, it was all coming down on his shoulders, weighing on him a little. While he had pondered on it the night before, it hadn't made him feel so…heavy. There had been at least one person, despite her being an old lady, who had known exactly who he was. She refused to tell him who he was. There was another one who had recognized at least his face, whether he was the person she was thinking about or not. Assumably, they were both witches, too.

Enla seemed to read his mind. "You're memories will come back eventually, probably with the help of magic, yes yes."

Well, he wasn't worried about his memories anymore. For some reason, this pixie just annoyed the living daylights out of him, and he didn't even have a reason to be annoyed. He probably was a little upset that he had virtually no privacy when it was around.

Enla giggled as she flew around, sometimes a little farther than him before returning.

The first couple of times that the pixie flew farther than normal, he thought that she was leaving. Of course, he was wrong. After the third time, he had given up on the thought that it was going to leave. He sighed, still walking.

After a long while Enla floated in front of him. "You sure you don't want to know the way?"

He sighed. "Fine. Lead the way." He gestured in front of him.

Enla giggled and began flying away, though slowly enough that he could follow. Soon they were on the edge of the city and Raine's house was visible.

"Ha!" He knew he had been going the right way. He was glad to see Raine's house, though. Wandering through the city had exhausted him.

Enla giggled and flew faster towards the house.

He fell silent, still walking toward the house, watching it get closer. The closer he got, the hungrier he seemed to get.

Raine was in the garden, humming as she picked some flowers.
