Yup, she was tired alright. Gosh, she must have walked a long way, Jasper thought as he peeked at her.
But now what? He couldn't just leave her here. And even if he woke her up, she may be just too tired to go back to wherever she came from. After sitting there for awhile, Jasper finally stood up slowly, trying not to disturb Triknik. He had to get to bed before his mother started pestering him about it.
Pausing to put his book under his arm and to pick up the plate of cookies, he carried them inside. He set the cookies on the countertop in the kitchen, but took the half eaten one with him to his room, finishing it off as he went.
Finally arriving in his room, he shut the door behind him. The walls around him were colored a light blue, and plastered on it here and there were posters of fantasy related movies, and video games. After setting his book on his cluttered desk, Jasper sighed and glanced down at his pocket again.
Now what should he do with Triknik? His first thought was to place her on one of the pillows of his bed, but then he remembered, he moved around alot in his sleep. He could roll over on her by mistake.
So he looked around for something to make a bed with. Eventually he found a few clean handkerchiefs in his chest of drawers. His mother had given them to him for his last birthday, but he never really used them. Good thing too.
Moving to the nightstand, Jasper transferred some of the stuff there to his desk, then came back to it. He folded up one handkerchief several times before setting it on the small table. Then he set the other down and slowly drew Triknik out of his pocket.
Actually having her in his hands now, Jasper paused in fascination. Gosh...she felt so light. Almost fragile. And she was warm too. Slowly he set her down on the folded handkerchief, then placed the other one on top of her like a blanket.
He watched her for a moment, then went to grab his pajamas, and left the room to change, brush his teeth, and everything else he needed to do before going to bed.
When he came back, he switched off the light and slipped into bed. The door was open a crack, letting in the light from the hall and kitchen as his mother finished cleaning the kitchen. So he could still dimly see the small figure on his nightstand. He couldn't take his eyes off Triknik's form underneath the handkerchief. Would she be gone when he woke up the next morning? Jasper hoped not. There were other things he wanted to ask her. It took awhile for him to fall asleep, but finally he drifted off, wondering what would happen the next morning.
