The Little Things Matter [Dia & Crono]

As a matter of fact, Jasper hadn't known how musty his pocket was. He never had to worry about it before. "Sorry..." He mumbled sheepishly.

He had to wonder why Triknik didn't come out of his pocket. If she thought it was too musty, nothing was stopping her from climbing back out. When she mentioned about his lying, Jasper shifted uncomfortably. "I don't like doing it..." He answered quietly.

Tricnik's head tilted down breifly before snapping back up. She was really, really tired and the thought of a quick nap was sounding more welcoming by the second. When Jasper replied to her tease she grew concerned that she had struck a nerve. "That's... good you, you shouldn't." She told him thoughtfully, remembering all the times she had lied to her parents.

Jasper looked down at Triknik as she spoke, and suddenly realized how sleepy she looked. "Are you tired?" He asked. Maybe that was why she didn't come out of his pocket....

No, Tricnik couldn't fall asleep. She had to make it back to her village. "No, no... Not at all..." But as she said this her exhaustion overtook her and she fell into a deep sleep, drooping into Jasper's pocket further.

Yup, she was tired alright. Gosh, she must have walked a long way, Jasper thought as he peeked at her.

But now what? He couldn't just leave her here. And even if he woke her up, she may be just too tired to go back to wherever she came from. After sitting there for awhile, Jasper finally stood up slowly, trying not to disturb Triknik. He had to get to bed before his mother started pestering him about it.

Pausing to put his book under his arm and to pick up the plate of cookies, he carried them inside. He set the cookies on the countertop in the kitchen, but took the half eaten one with him to his room, finishing it off as he went.

Finally arriving in his room, he shut the door behind him. The walls around him were colored a light blue, and plastered on it here and there were posters of fantasy related movies, and video games. After setting his book on his cluttered desk, Jasper sighed and glanced down at his pocket again.

Now what should he do with Triknik? His first thought was to place her on one of the pillows of his bed, but then he remembered, he moved around alot in his sleep. He could roll over on her by mistake.

So he looked around for something to make a bed with. Eventually he found a few clean handkerchiefs in his chest of drawers. His mother had given them to him for his last birthday, but he never really used them. Good thing too.

Moving to the nightstand, Jasper transferred some of the stuff there to his desk, then came back to it. He folded up one handkerchief several times before setting it on the small table. Then he set the other down and slowly drew Triknik out of his pocket.

Actually having her in his hands now, Jasper paused in fascination. Gosh...she felt so light. Almost fragile. And she was warm too. Slowly he set her down on the folded handkerchief, then placed the other one on top of her like a blanket.

He watched her for a moment, then went to grab his pajamas, and left the room to change, brush his teeth, and everything else he needed to do before going to bed.

When he came back, he switched off the light and slipped into bed. The door was open a crack, letting in the light from the hall and kitchen as his mother finished cleaning the kitchen. So he could still dimly see the small figure on his nightstand. He couldn't take his eyes off Triknik's form underneath the handkerchief. Would she be gone when he woke up the next morning? Jasper hoped not. There were other things he wanted to ask her. It took awhile for him to fall asleep, but finally he drifted off, wondering what would happen the next morning.

It was early in the morning when Tricnik jolted awake from her makeshift bed. She had a horrid nightmare, it started just as Jasper nearly ate her and she landed on his book only to see a horrible monster in his place. The beast picked her up and lifted her above its open jaws, dropping her seconds before she awoke. She looked around, where was she? Massive tapestries depicting knights, wizards, and monsters hung on the walls, towering strange objects were scattered throughout, and she was lying on some sort of soft white cloth.

Triknic was confused until she finally saw Jasper slumbering peacefully on a titanic bed. She was in his bedroom she supposed, how on earth was it so big?! The little Tink couldn't help but feel a little jealous at the size and decadence of only one part of Jasper's home. Despite her awe Tricnik could feel something pestering her in the back of her head. She choose to ignore it, pulled herself out of the makeshift bed, took a running leap to Jasper's mattress, lost control over her landing, and rolled directly into her human friend's cheek.

"Nngh, huh?" Jasper mumbled, waking up halvway as he felt something moving on his cheek. What was that? It was too early to wake up... Still too sleepy to remember about Triknik or consider that she was on him, he shifted, then reaching up with one hand to pick her up.

(Sorry I'm late, homework has been unforgiving lately)

Tricnik closed her eyes and bit her lip when she crashed into Jasper's cheek, afraid he might roll over and squash her but sighed in relief as he only moved slightly. When he sleeplely reached over to grab her she unsheathed her sword and smacked his finger as hard as she could with the flat of it. "Hey, sleepyhead! Remember me, Tricnik the Mighty?"
