The light in the darkness "Great Heroes Carry The Journey's Burdens Not On Their Shoulders, But In Their Hearts" (Armello)[/U]It was suppose to be a year of prosperity in the realm of Auirlus where peace was to be at it's highest point, but over time things began to change. The races that once interacted among each other are now separated by a threat of war and a new rising threat; the threat of a mysterious force known as the darkness. It is unknown what has caused this mysterious entity to infect the land and how to necessarily stop it, but one thing is for sure it could ensure the destruction of every clan or kingdom if nothing was done. This curse... It has destroyed towns and flattened villages ever since it's birth. The primary focus of it's vile stretch though is the lands of the human people. There, the king has been infected by this disease, and unknown, dark monsters strike the walls every week. When word of the human king's demise stretched from corner to corne, individuals of many titles now band together to save the humans and their king despite their disagreements or their racial profile. Little do they know, there is something bigger, more treacherous being planned with the use of this new curse. Those within have taken a vow to stand tall against evil and darkness, even when others have fled. With chaos out and about, banditry is at an all time high. You would be surprised if you spotted an unarmed trader during these times. There are few who have created cults and have made it their responsibility to spread this sickening curse. They are easily identified by the dark cloaks they wear and the skulls they use as masks. What skull they use varies, but when you are trapped and captured by this threat... The ritual will commence... And your past self will fall to the darkness. Those who are infected/cursed are stuck in an internal war with the darkness itself. Two things can happen: either you give into it's influence, or you die after weeks or even months of agony. Option one can be forced onto victims by the use of a ritual ((which cults and followers of the darkness try to use)) Once you have given into the influence you become stronger and more powerful, but your mind also becomes corrupted, your internal self becoming bound in chains while this new influence takes over and causes destruction. Nothing good can come from this evil thing, which is why it is the target and antagonist of this story. The infected ones show a dark pattern that branches out from the source of where the curse was administrated. It weakens them when it takes over a significant part of one's body. It is when it consumes your whole body, where the dilemma be set: Suffer till death or submit to the demon inside. A cure has not been found, only a prophecy which will be these group of heroes chase down in search for that cure. History: A man or... Beastman with leadership, Ansen has become an influence to his people. He has done his best to ensure their safety and has made his calls to administer their name into the realm. Many praised him, followed him, and fought under his name, but all of that was left behind when he joined the humans. Some criticized him for it and others praised him for such integrity, in the end though he was released to do as he wish after some violent sessions that debated whether to kill him for abandoning his post or let him go. It is easily known though that some people don't want him to return so to keep their newly found nobility and rank. Few will even try to make sure he dies before his journey is over. Now without his high title, all Ansen can do now is help the humans with training and strategies, that was before he became apart of the circle. He currently waits for the others while sharpening his sword as they prepared for the journey ahead... Unbenknownst to the veterans and newcomers, something had occured to Ansen that could greately endanger him during this adventure. ((Bandages are used as improvised fingerless gloves and footwear since the pawish structure is an issue for typical footwear)) Beneath his clothing are a series of scars which tell the tales of his life in war. his upper body is bandaged, it hides a stab wound as well as a dark glowing pattern... The same pattern that consumes the king. History: Lux Alcatras was born in the beastman lands in a remote village far from the bordering human kingdom, the people there being rather withdrawn from the daunting politics and social flow for most of their lives. There his family and many others were ones that kept within the town walls in search of knowledge from all kingdoms without the outside dangers plaguing them. It was there where he studied a vast array of things that molded his great intellect and later on his great power. In his free time, which was scarce, the young boy would visit the square every day where traders and outsiders gathered to mingle and trade with the locals. Many people came regardless of political relations, each person sharing a more pacifist drive to share knowledge and history for the generations to come. Many of what was said he didn't grasp, but what he did keep his ears trained on was the news and gossip that came from the outsiders. Each story he heard, and each piece of knowledge he took slowly brewed a passion for a more broader sight of the world instead of just being cooped up inside the safety of the walls. It wouldn't be long through before his life as a student will slowly fade away, and a adult life will take it's place. When he came of age to make the decision to leave, Lux joined a caravan of traders that accepted him willingly under the impression of gaining an apprentice that would learn the trading system, but it wouldn't be long after they left his home that the traders would start teaching him other things that caught his heart. Back then he was armed with a staff and a bounty of knowledge, knowledge that was very useful for the traders during their travels, but the traders also gave him a important skill that he uses to this day; the ability to put up a fight with both his staff and a sword should he ever come across one. It was a grim reminder that there was danger around every corner, behind every tree. Over time, word of him leaving his come slowly went through the trader network, and it wouldn't be long before the news an inhabitant from a community of gifted scholars caught the ear of politicians aiming to gain an edge over the competition. Occasionally he would receive offers for a job or a simple inquiry and in return he would decline offers and give what he knew, but rarely was advice followed. Then a military official stepped into his room one day, giving him an offer that interested him, and a calling that he felt inclined to answer. This was where his story with Ansen began. First the rat returned home to gather as many scrolls and documents as he could pertaining to this new threat the wolf spoke of. Little had he heard of such a destructive thing such as the darkness, but when he did he only heard it in historical scrolls dating many years back. Whether they were myth or accurate records the scholar recovered them. When he got what he could find Lux embarked on the journey to the unknown land inhabited by humans, a land he had only been able to picture with the help of books and descriptions by traders. During the trip over though something interrupted the convoy that Lux and his newly made friends rode on, an attack orchestrated by cloaked, masked individuals with signs of both human and beastman alike being exposed here and there. Lux was one of the few who were able to stand up and fight back, but after taking a slash around his eye he was forced to retreat with the survivors with a furry arm around his shoulders belonging to the injured wolf man that recruited him. It wouldn't be long before the scholar discovered the blade he had removed from his comrade to be tainted with this curse and now he races against the clock to find the cure to the darkness from both the human king and the ex-general. After getting a place in the palace it wouldn't be long before he created a scheme to help him find the cure, a call that would stretch throughout the lands requesting the bravest to come forth regardless of race or occupation; the call that formed the circle. Equipment And Weapons: Lux carries around a quarter staff made out of an enchanted material that aids in it's test against sharp, steel weapons as his main weapon. He also carries a backpack full of medical supplies, empty vials, necessities, and the scrolls he had recovered from home. Appearance: Reference Photo Other: While he may not carry many weapons, Lux does dwindle in the affairs of magic and has been able to master many things, but because it is not a natural talent casting spells can be a very tasking job for him depending on how extreme the spell might be. Let's go with that." [Vincent Willis] Age: "Nineteen, but hey, in this time and place, age doesn't really matter. Just skill." Race: "Human, if it ain't obvious enough." Title(s): "Well, I'm known by many names, but no fancy titles. Taking on jobs that most would consider as 'dirty' or 'wrong', doesn't really earn me any honor." Occupation: "Usually an assassin, a mercenary, a thief or a spy. But I can be anything you need me to be." History: "There's not much to say, other than I was just a street rat like many others, nothin' special." Vincent was left abandoned in the street where poverty and thievery runs high when he was just an infant. Luckily for him, at least thieves and the poor had a heart and took him in instead of letting him freeze to death. They cared for him and shared what little they had. Unlike most children of the upper class who spent their childhood studying and playing in comfort, Vincent spent his perfecting the arts of thievery and deception. He may have grown up having a dishonest living, but he did so to provide for the people who had become his family. "You don't have to be related by blood to be a family. After all, a family is a group of people who are there for you." By the time he was ten, he was already a master thief who easily charmed and fooled others with his words and constantly changing personality. But whenever he stole, he made sure of one thing, no one ever got hurt and he only stole from those who had more than enough. "Like, Robin Hood, minus the bow and arrow." Although that mindset soon changed when he reached about twelve years old. It was a theft gone wrong and he lost most of the people he called family, killed by the guards guarding a merchant. Then on, Vincent no longer cared for the lives of others except those he held dear, "Because really, they don't care about ours so why should we care about theirs?" He taught himself how to handle a blade, although mostly throwing and knives and daggers, "They're easier to get. Less pricey than swords." He took on various jobs, not just theft but also those that required getting his blades bloody. But everything still remains the same, whatever money he earns, he doesn't keep but rather, he gives it to the poor. "So how'd I become everything else in my job description? Well, that's a story for another time. Everyone likes to have their secrets." Recently, he received a well paying job. Two, in fact. One would be finding a cure for the king - whom he could care less about, honestly - and another would be killing an beastman who once served as a general before stepping down to join the quest to find a cure. Of course, he took on both of them and quickly set off to join the group who are questing to save the king. "I don't see why I can't do them both at the same time. You know, killing two birds with one stone." Equipment And Weapons: Growing up with barely anything, Vincent doesn't need much nor does he ever bring a lot considering it would hinder his speed - one of his greatest skills. He has a throwing knife hidden in each of his black boots. He keeps his twin daggers on the belt he wears, hidden by his long sleeved blue shirt. He usually keeps a small knife inside his left sleeve, "For easy killing." He keeps his money inside pocket, and always wears a brown necklace with a small bright yellow stone as its pendant. He also wears a short black cloak, in the even that he needs to blend in with the dark or if the weather simply becomes cold. Appearance: Vincent has fluffy dark orange hair that would seem like brown in dark places, with bangs that somewhat covers his navy blue eyes. He is slightly pale considering he usually does his jobs at night, "Because what kind of idiot would I be to kill or steal in broad daylight?" Underneath his long sleeved clothes, Vincent would appear to be lanky young man, having the height of 5'7, although underneath his clothing, he is actually pretty fit. He has a few scars coming from a few misadventures and mistakes when he was still learning to fight as well as a few recent ones. "I'm good and efficient, but I'm not perfect. After all, there'll always be someone better." One thing that could always be observed from him would be the fact that he's rarely ever seen without a smile. "Lowers people's guard down and besides, if you see someone smiling, doesn't it seem like everything's going to be okay?" Other things: "I'm pretty awesome? Haha, just kidding. But seriously, I am." Lord Tykar (Move your mouse to reveal the content) Lord Tykar (open) Lord Tykar (close) Name: Lord Tykar Arrions Bryon Age: 36 Race: Felenid Titles: Baron, Lord, Cultist Leader Occupation: Publicly a well-known aristocrat and acts as a racial mediator and Felenid Ambassador and lead Diplomat. Privately helps lead the means to cleanse the world anew. History: Tykar was born into a wealthy family of assorted beast men politicians and they wanted him to be no different, they were loving for Tykar, but only because he had the intelligence, apparently, in this family that moves fast, intelligence was key, if one didn't have that or lost it, they would immediately be orphaned, talk about a tough life for a rich kid. Tykar ended up dreaming of something far more than what his parents could ever dream about: He wanted to create a Utopia, a perfect society in which everybody can live perfect lives, in his opinion. As a result, Tykar ended up heavily interested in magic, psychology, and mental fortitude. He wanted his mind to be more powerful than that of a warrior's arm. But enough wasn't enough for him, he wants ultimate control, over everything, the people he's with, his friends, and most importantly, his family. That's when he found out the darkness, and when he did find it, he embraced its power full-on, and used it to further enhance his psionic ability to a most acceptable level. With this new-found power of ultimate manipulation and fear, he climbed through the ranks of leadership within the ranks of beastmen pretty easily, and, after awhile, got to have a whole army of manipulated people under his feet, with the intent of spreading it to everyone...Circle Included. Ever since he's been trying to build a wonderful reputation and achieve total control over communication, as that's the main way things spread, perhaps even including the darkness! (scary noises) Equipment: Tykar's only weapon is his mind and the powers of darkness that was bestowed upon him. Whenever he travels, it's in convoys with lots of assorted equipment. His manipulation abilities can be as simple as fear-induced submission to the complete destruction of your brain, rendering people brain-dead husks for Tykar to fill in with his own commands. He is also capable of red-lightning, and spontaneous shock magical abilities. He also dual-wields pistols, and is alright with them, and they mainly serve as a way to fire magical projectiles.
