  • This is the out-of-character thread for The King's Ball. Here, we can discuss the story, share character info, and ask questions.​
  • You may look to me or @Lyrikai for answers. Lyri is the co-GM.​
  • There are no character sheets required for this roleplay. You can just jump on into the story when you're ready. Do feel free to share info and faceclaims/art of your characters, though.​
  • You don't have to be a guest who's attending the ball. If you'd like, you could be someone participating in the jousting or the horse racing. If you have any other ideas for roles in the story, we're happy to hear them.​
  • The two allying kingdoms are called Valla and Aluray.​
    • Valla is a forested and farmland-heavy area with some nice mountain valleys. Significant locations include the capital city, which is a metropolis called Sydan, a valley kingdom with a fortress called Red Hall, an island surrounded by the main farming hub called Tuulet, and a swampy forest kingdom called Aargat Verico.​
    • Aluray is more tropical with sandy beaches, dense jungles, and beautiful crystal clear waters full of fishing villages. Significant locations include a mountainous, cliffside fortress called Fifi's Keep, in a land called Leradan, an island cut off to outsiders called Zamuth, a place called Firmin's Keep, which is home to a huge fishing industry, and a jungle kingdom called Roca Noche.​

I'll hop in IC in a few. Diego's lore is kinda simple

He's the adopted son of a legendary hero, Lord Orion Hawkonen, who slayed the Dark Lord known as Archeyon. Diego, known as Diogenies at the time, is the son of Archeyon, and was adopted shortly after his father's death. For most of his life, Diego was raised as the heir of The Wingblade a mystical sword used to expel evil. In a battle with some of Archeyon's remaining disciples, The Wingblade was destroyed and broken in two. One half was kept by the disciples, one half was regained by Orion. Orion passed the half onto his son, reforging it as a new blade before retiring.

Once he was of age, Diego set out as a knight errant. In a chance encounter, he fought the disciples of his father, who after part of the battle, recognized who he was, told him his past, and gave the other now corrupted half of The Wingblade. Since then, he's had doubts about his life and his reality, but continues to try and do good and do right by his adoptive family, but the call of his father's power is eternal, and always at the back of his mind.

Despite his childhood proper beginning with his father being killed, he's generally a very positive and witty person

Basically, a family consisting of various different fantasy species and cultures forged through political marriages. My main ideas are for the King, an impossibly powerful, aggressively friendly man blessed with super strength by a god, and his adopted elven daughter who's an envoy to the Vallan kingdom.

My idea of Aluray is a dnd style fantasy kingdom of general prosperity with a psueod-greco roman aesthetic with marble everything and whatnot

I could see how that would work yeah! I've been visualizing the style of Fifi's kingdom in Aluray being pretty reminiscent of the Greek Isles so marble would fit so well with that XD
