The King of Chaos IC

Jacob felt the stirring of the fire within him burn anew as he noticed the man for what he was. It was the evil he sought to destroy, a beast of the plague. He noticed the atmosphere changed as Haima drew his axe to strike. The axe was a deadly tool as all chaos weapons should be. It was certainly time to awake his own. His hands was already gripping the handle of his lance. Reflexes that were surely earned. The weapon pulled free from the straps on his back with a twist. It extended before him, sharper than ever and ready to pierce.

Almost as an afterthought he said to the girl, "You better light him afire if you want to let go faster." His lance came forth instantly afterwards towards the hunter's other arm. It wouldn't do to mutilate the girl while while he performed his duty.

Jaynia raised an eyebrow. He so easily took her word for it, it nearly unsettled her. The sun on her back, though, and the urgency she felt to deliver the news, well... She nodded at the guardsman, looking him over a last time, and then entered the mansion.

Almost immediately, she regretted it. The place was unnecessarily huge. How on earth was a man supposed to feel comfortable living in this excess of space? Forget that, how was she supposed to find her brother?

Sighing, Jaynia searched.

Rio

Pelia gladly described her daughter to the hunter, looking up from her knitting as she did so. Short black hair skin of the same tone as her, and wore plain clothing, a white linen shirt and dark brown pants today. "Her name is Alicia, but if you call it out she's more likely to run away than come to you. A little rebel, spoiled by Norve's apathy towards her. It is a struggle to make lady out of her."

"Fare thee well to you hunter, I hope you can find any beasts before they can take a single life." she said as the other woman departed.

Jaynia & Rio

Fortunately for Jaynia her search would be a short one as Rio was coming downstairs just as she arrived. The pair would have the room to themselves, but between the door and the floor they would hear nothing of what was going on above in a different room.

Ed

The lord's son made it until the hunter paused to receive an answer for his request of the sister's name. Then his mouth opened and the coughs exploded from him. The butler's eyes went wide and he grabbed the prince by the shoulders, blocking Ed's view in his attempt to care for the man. Ten seconds later four additional hands suddenly appeared, grabbing the butler's sides and locking him in place. There was a yelp abruptly cut off and turned into a gurgle. Red and green liquid splattered on the floor below the butler.

The arms tossed the butler to the ground to reveal a monstrosity sitting on the bed where the prince had once been. Eight eyes adorned its skill, only two where a human's would be. Its mouth spewed green gunk that was mixed with the leftover blood and its face was covered in the latter. Four additional arms now existed on the beast's sides. It rose from the bed, the splint falling away as it had no problem standing. Then the beast leapt at Ed, all six arms aiming to grab him and crush him in its grip. Its mouth opened up as it charged to reveal two fangs adjacent to its canine teeth. Green gunk continued to pour from it and cover the ground.

On the ground beside them the Butler's heart weakly pumped its last few times and the blood spraying from his torn throat stopped.

Haima and Jacob

The girl was too swept up in her own panic to pay heed to Jacob's words, struggling against the man physically and causing their bodies to move back and forth. The struggle was suddenly ended as Haima's axe chopped down onto his arm and went straight through, the tension in the limb holding the bone in place and allowing the axe to break it easily. There was a spray of blood and the man staggered to the left from his own momentum. Alicia fell the opposite way with a scream which birthed many more.

Fortunately for Jacob the movement had put the man's torso where his arm had once been and the lance hit a much larger target. It stabbed in between two ribs, restricting the damage it would do when opened up, but causing a deep wound. The beast would either pull itself off the weapon or Jacob could open his lance and throw it off the weapon, and spin to face the two hunters as the ripples over its skin calmed.

Six slits now marred its head, which quickly opened up to reveal six additional eyes around the skull. The cloak and shirt it wore burst open as four new arms grew from its sides. The mouth opened to allow a constant stream of green gunk to begin flowing out and dribble down its body. A pool began to form on the ground and spread.

It looked at the two hunters seemingly unconcerned with the wound on its back or the missing arm. Each of its eyes blinked individually. Then it sprung backwards, using its multitude of limbs to effectively swing off the trees, and ran towards the town.

"Well. Isn't that a Shame." Ed remarked with a grimace as the butler was grabbed. He knew from the second the arms appeared that he was beyond saving, and he instead opened the door before quickly activated his chaos weapon, stringing his bow with a practiced motion, and letting loose an arrow as quickly as possible.

Unfortunately, Ed misses his first shot, most likely because of the inaccuracy of the quick draw, and his arrow goes flying through the window with a crash. Which forces him on the defensive. Backstepping as the creature lunges at him, a quick motion downwards brings a much less restricted wind ball down on the beast, halting it's momentum and stopping it's leap. Following up with a blast to his feet, Ed jumps out of the room with a whoosh. Ending up just outside, firing off two shots before running towards the main staircase.

"Rio! We seem to have business on hand!" He calls out, only to turn around to see a lady walking towards the son's room. "My Lady, you need to leave this place. NOW." Ed's voice is. For once, full of command, and without his normal charismatic tones.

Cursing, Ed realized he'd need to engage in close range soon. This Woman would need someone to cover her retreat. Firing as many arrows as the monster would allow as it charged him, Ed's last attack with the bow would be uppercutting the monster with it before tossing it behind him in favor of his backup sword. Unlike other hunter implements. This was exactly what it was on the tin.

A really sharp sword.

Combining wind magic and a somewhat desperate sword defense. (Ed isn't a sword master, but that's not to say he's a rookie with a blade either.) Ed does his best to hold back the beast. Mixing shouts for Rio, as well as for the woman to run. If she refused to run, or made a movement TOWARDS the monster for some ungodly reason, Ed would be forced to use his magic to hold her back as best he could, leaving him with just a sword to fight the monster.

A brief glance was given to Alicia; the poor girl, coated with gore and shrieking with terror. How utterly pitiful.

"Practicing magic's a waste of time if you've not the courage to use it. You might've ended this without fuss."

Loosening his grip on his weapon, he allowed it to drop until his hand was just below the head of the axe before tightening down once more, pressing into the wire-thin switch that released the lock on the hinge. A flick of the wrist caused the axe head to fold over its handle, locking into place with a metallic click. His weapon transformed, he flung it towards the beast, a length of chain following the projectile as it shot towards Hammond's center mass.

While it would have been a wise tactic to try and use the weapon to snare the beast and keep it still, a guillotine could serve no function like that. Its purpose was to effortlessly slice through flesh and bone to deliver death, and while Hammond had changed to something more spider-like, it was still a human body that it was based off of. A human body that housed a spinal cord.

Jaynia nodded at Rio in passing, heading to the stairs that the other Doctor had just come down from. Perhaps her brother was up there, it was good a place to look as any. It was only after she'd passed the woman did she realize she could just as well ask Rio where her brother may be--

"Rio! We seem to have business on hand!"

That was Ed. And Jaynia knew that tone anyday.

Hand on her whip, she released the weapon from where it was held and launched her way up to her brother.

"Jeezus--Mother--Shit--" Her eyes widened as she scrunched her nose at the unsightly four-armed monster. Taking a step back, she unfurled her whip, aiming to catching one of the monster's arms. If Ed had enough time to switch back to his bow, she'd call on her wire magic to keep it at bay, so he could get a clear shot off.

Rio proceeded down the stairs, and would have went straight out the front door had Jaynia not been there right in the grand hall. The other girl nodded, to which Rio did the same. She did have an immediate objective in mind, so sparring words when Jaynia was likely only looking for Ed -- how else did she get in without any trouble? -- seemed to be an incremental waste of time. Time which was sparse when a bunch of monsters could be hounding them at any sec-

Jaynia had already reacted to the noise -- the noise which was her brother, anyhow -- and was already bounding up the stairs in response, whip in hand. It took a moment before Rio fully realized what was happening, needing to process the combined elements of this event; there was plague within this house.

Rio herself took three steps at a time to reach the top -- or near top, as Jaynia blocked the way -- and immediately took a survey of the situation. She had spotted Jaynia in adequate position, and Ed still recovering from what must have been a surprise attack. Almost immediately had she noticed the lady of the house standing there, likely aghast at how Laurence's protection had failed her family. She took out her chaos weapon, the crossbow already loaded with bolt, and aimed it at the monster. "Jaynia, move!" The terse command was only the beginning of her orders. "Ed, get Lady Pelia to another room! Guard," she turned to the lagging escort who still seemed to be in a state of shock, "rally the rest of your unit outside, in case we hunters are unable to subdue this beast here!"

Were the former son of the lord move, despite the restraints placed on it, Rio would make sure to fire first at the knee.

The girl proved to be no help at all with all her screaming.

The damn beast had his weapon caught between it's ribs and they were apparently quite hard. Jacob knew he wouldn't achieve the kind of damage he wanted if he opened up now. Pushing it in further would only lodge if further in. If he had more momentum then perhaps he could have shattered the entire thing. He felt the tug of his weapon as the monster pulled back. It seems the beast had newly grown limbs. As it began to run, he saw a haima's weapon flying towards it with chains behind. Jacob looked past the beast's trajectory at the ground ahead. The damn thing moved fast with all those extra arms, but he suspected a little fire would at least slow it down. It would take a bit but he should be able to get a good burst of flames in that area. He concentrated and unleashed the chaotic energies within. "BURN!"

Jacob immediately ran towards the beast afterwards. There was no way he would let such evil run. He would impale it properly and with all his momentum he carried. Then the sparks of flame would grow ever larger and he would laugh.

Jaynia & Rio & Ed

Ed's second and third shots struck true and buried themselves in the creature's torso. The force of the hits pushed it back slightly but otherwise had no effect. It charged after the hunter as he retreated, arms out wide as it tactics had not changed. The next two arrows he managed to get off were as useless as the previous ones. Were it not for Jaynia's sudden appearance by his side things would have sharply taken a turn for the worse. As it was the beast stopped its charge, now faced with two opponents, and Jaynia had the time to flick her whip, trapping one of its arms in its length.

The beast reacted quickly, grabbing the whip with all six arms and pulingd. Jaynia attempted to briefly match its strength herself and then release, using the monster's own force to trip itself. However its six arms were far stronger than she had expected. Sshe was instantly pulled off her feet and began falling face first towards the ground. In response she released her whip hook and threw the handle at the bannister in the hope it would catch.

Rio's bolt struck the creature's knee front on as it prepared to leap forward, forcing it to step back. The bolt broke on contact leaving only the heading piercing the skin. The house guard had been stunned initially by the sight of the creature and only now just began moving, following Rio's logical order. The motion caught the beast's eye and it leapt to the new target, jumping over the railing and falling onto the guard below. Its upper hands landed around the man's neck and he gurgled painfully. Blood burst from his mouth and leaked from beneath the creature's hands.

Yet rather than continue its fall as planned Jaynia's hook now finally caught on the bannister. The creature's fall was abruptly changed and it slammed into the wall as the whip swung it around before its legs finally reached the ground. The guard's dead body dropped to the ground beneath it. The beast now faced Rio who was the closest, blocking the stairs but hindered by the trapped arm. There was no sign of how it killed the guard, only blood covering its palms.

Lady Pelia had dropped to her knees and tears now streamed down her face, silently screaming at what had happened to her son. Lord Norve had also heard the commotion and finally emerged from his study. All he could see was his wife crying and the three hunters. "What in the light of Laurance is going on here damn hunters" he demanded.

Haima & Jacob

The two hunters could see now there were six, small, wrinkled lumps of skin on the beast's back, one next to each arm. The axe chain was just long enough to hit it as it attempted to escape. Its rearwards facing eyes spotted the weapon and the body twisted left in an attempt to dodge. Rather than strike the spine the blade only struck one of its arms, slicing the skin and some muscle. A puff of grey smoke came from the wound but no blood.

The beast reacted quickly, grabbing the blade with two of its hands as a Jacob's fire hit it. The heat burned quickly and the skin unexpectedly sizzled and popped. Its mouth opened and a strangled hiss came out in pain. The lower right arm, injured by the axe earlier, suddenly dropped and hung limply as if it had died. It spun in anger and launched the axe blade at the charging hunter.

That taken care of it cut left, using its remaining arms for increased speed once again, before turning back towards the small clearing. In his armour and with the roots and other detritus covering the ground Jacob would be unable to keep up with its movement. Too little time had passed for Haima's weapon to be ready, at least half the chain would still be unspooled. As such the man was very exposed as the beast leapt at him, its middle two arms aiming for the hunter's to pin them in place. Its upper two arms went for his throat. And the las working lower arm punched for his gut.

And the last working lower arm punched for his gut.
Experience told him that his weapon wouldn't be close enough to be of use by the time Hammond reached him. Thus, against all logic and survival instincts, Haima released the chain and abandoned his weapon. In its place, the masked hunter withdrew two small throwing daggers; while they were far from the best choice for this confrontation, they were better than nothing."That's it, boy. Let's slug it out!" Lunging forth, he chose the bring the fight to the beast rather than bother with such things as defense.

While stepping within the range would save him from having his arms seized, it came at the cost of giving Hammond amble chance to seize him in a bear hug. Before that time, however, Haima chose to make it worth it as he drove one of the daggers into one side of the beast's face and into those numerous, ghastly eyes. Before he could attack with the other, two hands pushed aside his mask and took hold of his throat while the remaining one took pot shots at his mid-section.

Eyes were ablaze as the beast launched an attack at her former follower. Rio's mind choreographed the beast's movements as legs went taut, then slacked; watched as the beast landed against the wall, and somehow killing the man without noticeable force... "Watch out for the hands; likely some kind of piercing weapon concealed in them!" She had ignored the lord of the house's demands for answer with this; prioritizing the removal of life from the plague victim's now hijacked body, and hoping that the man would have some common sense in deducting the exact nature of this affair.

The doctor fired two more bolts in quick succession, aiming for the two top eyes facing her, then, charged the beast with the flick of her weapon, now in its cudgel form. The beast had done almost as planned, taking the first shot as expected, but covering its eyes to block the second. Just as well, Rio tumbled under the beast's arms, lashing at the vertebrae as she re-positioned herself below the beast.

She was now on the beast's flank, trapping it between herself and Jaynia. Should anything otherwise untoward happen to her for her act of aggresion... Her best hope was that the other two had some modicum of tactics as to help her out of the now sticky situation.

Ed cursed as he fell back from the now prostrate beast. His arrows were clearly not having effect. Vitals must be different on this thing, but without an autopsy from one of the doctors, on a significantly more dead creature then what was currently presented. That meant blind guessing, which was fine for say an axe or club. Being precise wasn't exactly a requirement for those weapons, especially with a hunter's typical strength that would leave large deep cuts. Or simply a broken bone.

A bow however, had significant problem with the distinct lack of vitals. It was a precise weapon, meant to kill quickly and cleanly.

And against new monsters, that was a problem. Cursing again, Ed fires as many arrows as he can in a few seconds, which was actually three. Aiming for the creatures throat with all of them. At least he could do that. After that, he shouts to the others. "Rio! Jaynia! I'll escort the civilians out!" He said as he turned to the lord and his wife. "We move. NOW!"

Even if he had to lift the wife, Ed would move with the lord and wife away from the monster, making sure it didn't somehow break free and leap at them. He was moving towards the lord's bedroom, he had a plan, but it would be sketchy at best. However, sketchy plans were the best...

He just hoped it worked. Bow still pointing at the beast if it broke free and got in range, Ed spoke to the lord as they retreated.

"My lord, I'm afraid that beast is your son."

Oh shi-- Fff. Face full of floor. She'd managed to lose her main weapon and fall over in one fell swoop. Jaynia could feel her face red, livid with embarrassment and resentment to the creature that had caused it. Scrambling to her feet, she half-imagined death would meet her in the form of a crashing creature foot. But, no, from over the banister, she saw it on the stairs, one arm weirdly caught in her whip, a few arrows sticking out of it, and its eye a goner.

Between Ed, of course his first thought was saving lives, and Rio, whose warning made it clear getting into melee range would be treacherous, options went flying through her head. Damnit, Ed! He was always the ideas man. But he and his higher conscience were busy rescuing the defenseless.

Jaynia clicked her tongue with a frown, grabbing her simple knife. "Rio, get back from it!" She made a circular gesture around the creature, a sort of visual warning to go with the verbal. If Rio began to move away from range, she'd quick cast wires around the creature.

Otherwise, she'd click her tongue and throw the knife at the creature's foot.

The axe blade was flying hard and fast towards Jacob. His body reacted and activated his chaos weapon. The lance split open like a metal flower blooming. Side panels flipped from each petal in quick succession, closing it into a jagged circle. The force of the blow was heavy enough to momentarily stop Jacob. The axe blade fell down off his shield and buried itself slightly into the ground.

"Damn beast!," Jacob cursed, heat rising from his shield. He lowered to survey the land. The beast was brawling it out with Haima. Jacob gritted his teeth and flexed his arm which was still slightly numb. His other hand picked up the axe blade by the chain. Haima will definitely need this. Jacob swung it around in a circle. The weight was unfamiliar, but he got it spinning. He grinned and brought up his shield and charged once again towards the monster. When he got in range, he would fling the blade towards the creature. Hopefully Haima wouldn't get in the way. Hitting it wasn't a problem since he was going to bash it in the face with his shield.

The first of Rio's shots had taken out one of the beast's eyes however the rest escaped damage. From behind the hunter could see six, small, wrinkled lumps of skin on the beast's back, one next to each arm. Standing downstairs of the beast, and having rolled past it, her back and feet were now covered in the green gunk that continued to flow from its mouth. Ed's three following arrows did little. One pierced the throat and the second struck the torso. By the time the third was fired the beats was dodging and the arrow missed it original target. Its flight continued and it was now headed right towards Rio's torso.

Even with one of its eyes burst Jaynia's actions above didn't go unnoticed. Regardless there was little the creature could do to escape as the wires suddenly sprang into existence around it, hindering its movement. Ignorant of the thin magic two of its hands moved towards a third which was trapped in the whip, only to collide with wires and have their movement halted. Realising it could not attack the beast began working to free itself, two hands finding a path and untying the whip. Its other hands began blindly grabbing wires and pulling on them. Bursts of miasmic gas emerged where the wires sliced through its skin but the creature gave no indication of pain. The tactic was also working as the magic of the wires failed under its strength and snapped, though it left its lower four hands mangled wrecks of skin.

Lord Norve may have been an arrogant fool, but he was knowledgeable enough about the plague. Upon seeing Rio firing her crossbow down the stairs and his wife's despairing form he put it all together and his entire body collapsed. The arrogant strength drained from his face to be replaced by a blank stare.

When it came to moving the two civilians Ed was forced to half carry Lady Pelia who was too weak to support herself in her current state. Norve moved to the other side of his wife but couldn't muster the strength to help. In response to Ed's words he only had one thing to say. "I know."

The bedroom they entered was large and lavish as expected, the floor covered in the same carpet as the rest of the top floor. The opposite wall to the door was taken up by a large window that led out onto a balcony. To the back right was another room which was likely a on suite. Against the right wall was a large four poste bed and on the left wall was a fireplace. Assorted furniture such as bookcases, chairs and a lounge took up the rest of the space.

Haima and Jacob
@CasketCase & @Zeraj
The first dagger stabbed deep into one eye and the beast reflexively yanked back foiling the attack of its middle two arms. Its remaining forearm's hand landed on his mask instead of his face and Haima would quickly realise how lucky he was. There was a 'tink' sound as something sharp hit the ceramic mask but was stopped. It squealed as it slid down the mask until it came through one of the eye holes. Fortunately it had already been dragged downwards and was no longer over his eye. The sharp point cut into the right side of his face and followed the mask down, slicing open the entire cheek. As the beast's arms moved away it dragged the mask entirely off his face and threw it to the ground. Its final arm landed two strong punches into Haima's midsection.

Jacob's axe throw sliced through the air towards Haima and the beast. The blade caught the beast's hand on the second punch and cut through the wrist with ease. The rotation of the weapon spun it around by the time it reached Haima and the blunt side of the axe hit him in the stomach like a third punch. The hunter was doubled up and thrown off his feet by the force of the blow which his leather armour was useless against. He was left lying on the ground with the axe blade on his stomach. Jacob's follow up blow with the shield knocked the beast to the ground beside the hunter.

The beast's eye and hand both bled faint miasmic gas that quickly dissipated. Three of its arms were now effectively disabled and it body was sagging as if tired. Yet it had not given up yet. It climbed to its feet then spotted the fallen Haima right next to where it had been. Its left upper hand rose up and the hunters could now see the dark hole on its palm from which a black spike burst forth. It rammed the spike down aiming for Haima's throat.

Rio had back-stepped away from the monster as Jaynia had cast her wire magic; it latching from harder surfaces to various point within the air. Of course, this had sent the woman straight into her other teammate's line of fire. The doctor tried to avoid it, yet only managed to detract the arrow from its path to her heart, instead taking it to the shoulder. She winced at the pain, yet did nothing more to distract herself from the pain it caused. Instead, she pulled it out -- all the while promising herself that Ed would receive just punishment for his blunder (a chaos weapon to the face, if you were wondering) -- and applied her own magics to the wound.

Rio, for the most part, ignored the slime she was now coated in; the slimy substance not noticeably dissolving her clothes or anything. The miasmic gas seeping out of the monster however did make her gag for a brief second. Rio was used to the smell of dissections, yet this smokey stuff was choking her like any smoke from a fire would.

She adjusted her robe to cover her nose and other breathing extremity, before taking her next move; a blunt knock with her weapon to one of the beast's arms, before applying her own curative so that it healed in juxtaposed position to where it actually should be ("actually" being relative on this mutant). Were the creature to try and attack her without further provacation, she would do the logical thing and dodge any sort of blow it might land on her.

Ed sighed, clearly the civilians weren't going to be much help, which was pretty fair, given that their son was in the middle of murdering just about everyone who wasn't a hunter. That said, it really made extracting them quickly difficult. But the room at the least gave Ed all the tools he needed to get them out. Running towards the window as they enter the room, he smashes the thing with his sword, sharp steel more then enough for a decorative window.

He hoped there was nobody down there.

Turning back, he sets to work tying sheets. It was slower then he wanted, but given the conditions he was actually moving fairly quickly. The lord and wife werent' being much help either ,but that couldn't be helped.

By the time Ed finished the makeshift rope of sheets and tied it to the bed, he nodded to them.

"Right, I need you two to go out the window."

Jaynia saw two things that made her want to scream: Ed's arrow hitting Rio, and Rio healing the monster. Are you bloody daft!? She smacked the banister rail, the pain reminding her to stay on the task at hand. The monster had strength, a great amount. For her credit, Rio was holding her own in such close proximity. But now the monster had just about freed itself, and it was looking to it's assaulter.

The whip could be taken back, with some risk. But given what happened last time, the weapon might not come in handy despite retrival.

Instead, Jaynia, dagger in hand, summoned a wire to stick upon the arrow in the abomination's neck, focusing to place the other side on the wall running up the stairs, as far as possible. Would it yank if it continued to move forward? And would the sudden yank halt it in confusion, buying Jaynia time? Or would it snap right off the bat?

If it halted, Jaynia would use the moment of it standing still to place another wire on an arrow, to do the same process.

If it altogether didn't work, she would click her tongue and prepare a quick cast of wire to place a'front the creature should it charge Rio. Given there was enough space.

A rapid succession of pain assaulted him, seemingly arising from nowhere as his mask obscured his vision from what might have been his last breath. Instead, he found himself being thrown back, the air forced from his lungs as an object smashed into his mid-section. The ground embraced him harshly and there he lied, his bewildered gaze staring at the skies. How long had it been since he felt the sun's warmth and the caress of the breeze on his face? What should have been familiar sensations were now alien to him.

Those who looked upon his uncovered face would discover that his mask had been a godsend for his visage was a testament of his survival against some unknown torture. Most noticeably was the long trench-like scar that dented in his features from the left temple and descended over his eye --destroying what use socket had and left the still-functioning eye bulging nearly beyond its limits--, his shattered cheekbone, his mouth which no doubt contained little teeth on that side now, and ending at a cleft made on the left side of his stubble riddled chin. Various other scars marred the right section, yet they paled in comparison to those that crisscrossed the top of his head, leaving lines of baldness amidst short, ragged patches of blonde hair.

It wasn't long before the beast was cast aside the ground near him thanks to Jacob, and even less time before the creature chose to return to him. Opening his hand as wide as he could, Hammond's former hand sprouted a spike and with that, lunged toward the fallen hunter. As the creature descended, Haima threw up both hands, both of which now held the guillotine that he had discovered upon his breast. While he couldn't produce much strength behind his thrust from this position, he didn't need to. The beast's own momentum and gravity would provide the force needed to maim that hand as it fell upon his blade.

Jaynia & Rio
@Kal & @Voltin

Thanks to the final wires it was pulling apart Rio's club connected with the beast's arm with a loud crack. Her healing magic quickly leapt in and though it wasn't strong enough to heal a broken bone it did something, as seen by the beast's new awkwardness when moving the limb. Angered by the attack the beast spun and went to attack the doctor, only to be almost pulled off its own feet by the new wire. This time the creature reacted instantly, backing up a step and flinging its arms out, finding the wire quickly and snapping it.

With that taken care of, once gain it found more wires in its way as Jaynia cast another spell. Spotting the other doctor moving about up above the beast switched focus now it original target was blocked. It charged up the stairs and leapt over the bannister, putting itself right in front of Jaynia. The spines shot out of the holes on its hands to their full length and it plunged them towards the doctor's chest.

"Are you mad?" Norve replied, a little arrogance getting back into the man's voice, "I'm not going to flee my house like a common thief in front of the peasantry." He placed his hand upon his wife's shoulder and held her in place. "Nor will I subject my wife to such embarrassment. We will leave through the front door as befitting out status or not at all." His posture made it clear he was not going to budge on this issue. Pelia was no help to Ed as she simply stood in place hugging herself and softly weeping.

Haima and Jacob
@CasketCase & @Zeraj
The spike descended directly onto the metal blade and was thoroughly stopped. There was a snapping noise as the spine broke under the force of the blow before it could be retracted. The beast opened its mouth but rather than screaming a torrent of green gunk spewed out on top of Haima. Apart from soaking his clothes and being foul tasting if any got in his mouth there wasn't any further effect on the man.

A second hand struck downwards and grabbed the guillotine blade from Haima, overpowering his own grip. The blade was this time flung at Jacob and struck the man on his armoured front, blade first, sneaking around his shield. Pain bloomed over his front but whether it had penetrated the armour or just hit him painfully couldn't be known yet. The beast followed the blade, knocking Jacob down in a tackle and beginning to pummel the man with its three fists and one stump, bludgeoning mostly his armour, but also connecting with his head and arms a good number of times. In this posture its back was exposed towards Haima.
