Bruce stared at Phoenix sadly, and watched as the nurse took hold of her arm and began to lead her back to her room. He knew now that that man had been there for her; but who was he, and what did he want exactly? He turned to the other nurses, "Call the police, now." he stated before turning and leaving the hospital.
The next day, the newspaper came out, and the main story was about how Bruce Wayne had donated funds to the hospital. A stray man with a hood pulled over his head picked up one of the papers, folded it up and slyly stuck it down his coat as he slumped off with it. A while later he arrived at a run down, abandoned warehouse. He walked inside, past the rest of the men sitting around that were drinking and playing cards, and up the stairs to see his boss. He stopped in front of the door and knocked on it lightly with the backs of his fingers.
"What?!" a somewhat high-pitched and insane voice shouted. The goon opened the door nervously and entered the room, facing his boss: the Joker. He looked at his boss, intimidated, but answered him. "I brought you a paper, boss." he pulled it out of his coat and walked up to his desk, slapping it down on it.
The Joker gave him a rather annoyed look, but reached forward to take hold of the paper. He unfolded the paper and began to bite on his bottom lip as he leaned back to stare at the contents of the page. "Hmmmm." he began to chew on the inside of one of his jaws. "Brucey, Brucey, Brucey." he gave a slight chuckle. "Aren't you just a sweetie?" he smiled. The goon stood in place as he watched his boss. The Joker suddenly tossed the paper carelessly down as he stood up from his desk and began to pace back and forth with a sly smile on his face. "Welly, welly, welllllll, Billy boy, we're goin' out!" he smiled at his goon.
Bruce left the court house, he had applied to adopt Phoenix and to take her into his custody and care. The papers were approved and all he had to do was wait until the next day to go and get her and bring her home with him. He carried the files out with him to his car and got in, heading back to his penthouse for the night.
