The Island Virus

"L-Luke?" Blair murmured, stepping closer. She looked at him nervously. "Why are you talking to it?" she asked, looking at him worriedly.

Luke aimed the gun at the man's head, pulled back the lever, and exhaled. Before he pulled the trigger, he saw a tear of pus roll down the man's cheek. Luke swallowed dryly, and pulled the trigger. The bullet pierced the man's head and exited into a tree. As the body crumpled, Luke swore he saw a smile.

She put a hand on Luke's shoulder and pulled him back a little. "Luke, are you alright?" she asked quietly.

"They're... alive. Or at least... they WERE. These people- these VICTIMS... are all dead, yes. But they FEEL. They KNOW what they are, maybe even what they WERE. It's... sick. I-I... I can't-" Luke got that much out before he bent over and threw up.

She looked at him, shocked at what he had said. But as he through up, she bent over a little to put her hands on his shoulders and help him straighten up. "Come on... There's no one inside," she said, sighing. "You need to sit down." Blair held onto his shoulders firmly, yet gently, and helped him back inside.

They returned to the office of the bunker, where the dog was curled up next to the desk and soundly asleep.

"Lucky punk," Luke muttered to himself as Blair helped him into a chair. He sat there for a bit breathing the sick feeling away, then when he felt better he poked Blair in the ribs playfully.

Blair sat next to him, glancing at the dog occasionally. She looked out a small window and was lost in thought, jumping as she was poked. She turned to him quickly, "Hey! You scared me." Blair smiled a little, though her eyes still showed her fear.

Luke smiled back and leaned against the chair. This day had been weird. A storm, an island, the effing UNDEAD... abandoned bunker with a BRAND NEW COMP-

Luke's eyes widened. The computer.

"Blair!" he yelled, accidentally making her jump. "Sorry, but fire up that computer. See if it works."

Blair put a hand on her chest, taking a deep breath. "You didn't have to give me a heart-atta—" she stopped herself and turned. "A computer... Looks like a new model too." Blair stepped over to it and turned it on.

No issues with the laptop, as it turned on and the Window's theme played like normal. When they got to the log-in screen, however, there was a hiccup.

"Oh crap... password..." Luke muttered. "Let's see if the universal default Window's password works..."

It didn't. There wasn't even a password hint.

"Damn," Luke said, kicking the desk. When he kicked it, a drawer jumped and opened. He looked inside, seeing a couple papers and a big looking Mag light. The Mag even worked well. Luke started shuffling through the papers, looking a password, a hint... ANYTHING.

Blair started rummaging through everything as well, opening different drawers and going through papers and files. She turned to Luke. "Were there any words on this building? Like a business name or something?" she asked.

"Nah, just a concrete bunker. But if we could just- Ah-Ha!" Luke exclaimed. "Found it, little note here from a 'Sweety Pie' seems this chick thought it would be smart to write her love interest a little hint at the new password: 'humanproj5'."

Luke threw it down into the computer and it logged in perfectly. He then moved outta the way and gestured to Blair to go for it.

"Look for anything related to... projects or specimens or experiments. I need some shut-eye..." Luke said, closing his eyes and leaning back in a chair against the wall.

Blair nodded and glanced at him as he leaned back. Despite the situation she smirked and said, "Hey Luke, sit in this chair." She gestured to the chair in front of the computer.

Luke squinted his eyes open to see Blair turn the chair toward him. He opened his mouth to object, then shut it. He smiled and moved himself over to the seat Blair wanted him in. As he sat, he leaned back and smiled at her. A sudden idea came to him, and he acted on it immediately. Maybe he was tired and exhausted... he didn't care. He leaned up and kissed Blair. Then braced himself for the slap that would inevitably come.

Blair stood, stunned, for a few moments as he kissed her. She pulled away, blushing, with a hand over her mouth, though, she was smiling. She pushed him back down in the chair and sat on his lap, turning away and facing the computer. "Don't even talk Luke," she told him as she went through files.

Luke sat there, eyes closed, smiling to himself as the tap-tap of keyboard strokes filled his ears. He had just done what all the guys at school had been dreaming about since the beginning of the year. He had kissed Blair, and she didn't hit him for it. Luke got a little energy boost at the thought of that. And with this energy, he sat up quickly and hugged Blair from behind. He nuzzled her neck just a little, smiling the whole time. Then leaned back again and tried to relax.

Blair sighed gently as he hugged her. She turned a little, "Just don't get too touchy... Yet." With a smile, Blair held back a giggle and went back to looking through the computer, finally finding a file that said: 'Project Super Soldier'.

"Hm?" she murmured gently, clicking on it.

Luke passed out rather easily, as he had no nightmares this time. All that played in his head was a scene of him and Blair kissing, over and over. Although repetitive, he did not grow tired of it. As he slept, he had a smile on his face.

Blair turned to him, sighing when she saw him asleep. "Luke," she whispered, "You should read this."

Blair's voice woke him, and the sad thing was that he had only gotten a few minutes sleep. He adjusted himself and looked at the screen.

"Project Super Soldier?" Luke thought aloud. "What is this? A Marvel comic? Read it, Blair. My eyes are all fuzzy..." With this, he leaned back again and rested his eyes, taking care not to pass out just yet.
