"Oh hello there it seems you have stumbled upon Hollow Village. Hello I am Mortuaria I am the keeper of the grounds and also tour guide of Hollow Village."

"Whats that you ask? Is this like Halloweentown? Of course you would ask such a foolish question."

"We are not just like Halloweentown, we are Halloweentown. We changed our name for reasons that are under our classified section. Now step lively and let me give you a bit of rich history on Halloween and the inhabitants who live in Hollow Village. Come on let me show you."

"Hollow Village was built thousands of years ago due to a Celtic Tradition.

Halloween is a holiday celebrated on the night of October 31. The word Halloween is a shortening of All Hallows' Evening also known as Halloween or All Hallows' Eve.

Traditional activities include trick-or-treating, bonfires, costume parties, visiting "haunted houses" and carving jack-o-lanterns. Irish and Scottish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America in the nineteenth century. Other western countries embraced the holiday in the late twentieth century including Ireland, the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and the United Kingdom as well as of Australia and New Zealand.

Halloween has its origins in the ancient Celtic festival known as Samhain (pronounced "sah-win").
The festival of Samhain is a celebration of the end of the harvest season in Gaelic culture. Samhain was a time used by the ancient pagans to take stock of supplies and prepare for winter. The ancient Gaels believed that on October 31, the boundaries between the worlds of the living and the dead overlapped and the deceased would come back to life and cause havoc such as sickness or damaged crops.

The festival would frequently involve bonfires. It is believed that the fires attracted insects to the area which attracted bats to the area. These are additional attributes of the history of Halloween.

Masks and costumes were worn in an attempt to mimic the evil spirits or appease them.

Trick-or-treating, is an activity for children on or around Halloween in which they proceed from house to house in costumes, asking for treats such as confectionery with the question, "Trick or treat?" The "trick" part of "trick or treat" is a threat to play a trick on the homeowner or his property if no treat is given. Trick-or-treating is one of the main traditions of Halloween. It has become socially expected that if one lives in a neighborhood with children one should purchase treats in preparation for trick-or-treaters.

The history of Halloween has evolved. The activity is popular in the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, and due to increased American cultural influence in recent years, imported through exposure to US television and other media, trick-or-treating has started to occur among children in many parts of Europe.

Trick-or-treating on the prairie. Although some popular histories of Halloween have characterized trick-or-treating as an adult invention to re-channel Halloween activities away from vandalism, nothing in the historical record supports this theory. To the contrary, adults, as reported in newspapers from the mid-1930s to the mid-1950s, typically saw it as a form of extortion, with reactions ranging from bemused indulgence to anger. Likewise, as portrayed on radio shows, children would have to explain what trick-or-treating was to puzzled adults, and not the other way around. Sometimes even the children protested: for Halloween 1948, members of the Madison Square Boys Club in New York City carried a parade banner that read "American Boys Don't Beg."

A jack-o'-lantern (sometimes also spelled Jack O'Lantern) is typically a carved pumpkin. It is associated chiefly with the holiday Halloween. Typically the top is cut off, and the inside flesh then scooped out; an image, usually a monstrous face, is carved onto the outside surface, and the lid replaced. During the night, a candle is placed inside to illuminate the effect. The term is not particularly common outside North America, although the practice of carving lanterns for Halloween is.
In folklore, an old Irish folk tale tells of Jack, a lazy yet shrewd farmer who uses a cross to trap the Devil. One story says that Jack tricked the Devil into climbing an apple tree, and once he was up there Jack quickly placed crosses around the trunk or carved a cross into the bark, so that the Devil couldn't get down. Another myth says that Jack put a key in the Devil's pocket while he was suspended upside-down;

Another version of the myth says that Jack was getting chased by some villagers from whom he had stolen, when he met the Devil, who claimed it was time for him to die. However, the thief stalled his death by tempting the Devil with a chance to bedevil the church-going villagers chasing him. Jack told the Devil to turn into a coin with which he would pay for the stolen goods (the Devil could take on any shape he wanted); later, when the coin/Devil disappeared, the Christian villagers would fight over who had stolen it. The Devil agreed to this plan. He turned himself into a silver coin and jumped into Jack's wallet, only to find himself next to a cross Jack had also picked up in the village. Jack had closed the wallet tight, and the cross stripped the Devil of his powers; and so he was trapped. In both myths, Jack only lets the Devil go when he agrees never to take his soul. After a while the thief died, as all living things do. Of course, his life had been too sinful for Jack to go to heaven; however, the Devil had promised not to take his soul, and so he was barred from Hell as well. Jack now had nowhere to go. He asked how he would see where to go, as he had no light, and the Devil mockingly tossed him an ember that would never burn out from the flames of hell. Jack carved out one of his turnips (which was his favorite food), put the ember inside it, and began endlessly wandering the Earth for a resting place. He became known as "Jack of the Lantern", or Jack-o'-Lantern.

There are variations on the legend:

Some versions include a "wise and good man", or even God helping Jack to prevail over the Devil.
There are different versions of Jack's bargain with the Devil. Some variations say the deal was only temporary but the Devil, embarrassed and vengeful, refuses Jack entry to hell after Jack dies.
Jack is considered a greedy man and is not allowed into either heaven or hell, without any mention of the Devil.

Despite the colorful legends, the term jack-o'-lantern originally meant a night watchman, or man with a lantern, with the earliest known use in the mid-17th century; and later, meaning an ignis fatuus or will-o'-the-wisp. In Labrador and Newfoundland, both names "Jacky Lantern" and "Jack the Lantern" refer to the will-o'-the-wisp concept rather than the pumpkin carving aspect.

Halloween costumes are outfits worn on or around October 31, the day of Halloween. Halloween is a modern-day holiday originating in the Pagan Celtic holiday of Samhain (in Christian times, the eve of All Saints Day). Although popular histories of Halloween claim that the practice goes back to ancient celebrations of Samhain, in fact there is little primary documentation of masking or costuming on Halloween before the twentieth century. Costuming became popular for Halloween parties in America in the early 1900s, as often for adults as for children. The first mass-produced Halloween costumes appeared in stores in the 1930s when trick-or-treating was becoming popular in the United States.

What sets Halloween costumes apart from costumes for other celebrations or days of dressing up is that they are often designed to imitate supernatural and scary beings. Costumes are traditionally those of monsters such as vampires, ghosts, skeletons, witches, and devils. There are also costumes of pop culture figures like presidents, or film, television, and cartoon characters." ( www.halloweenhistory.org/more-halloween-history.html )

"Ah yes humans love to dress up as us, it's like a past time for humans to mock our way of life. you know before this town was made we use to co exist with the humans. Here come now let me introduce you to some of our more chilling residents."

The Gates
( Must stop here first to even enter the Hollow)
A fog rolled through the dark woods up to the bubbling boiling goo in the moat. The Walls of the village were no more then a mere black gate that ran the parameter of Hollow Village. Dark Green Vines Climbed up the gates and curled around the iron, like a boa constrictor strangling its prey. A wet boggy smell climbed through the air mixed With roses and death to make a nice pungent smell. This smell was very Intoxicating to humans, unless you were a Seer. Ut would lead them straight to there death, but creatures seemed to ingore its rather fowl oder and the bog monster who inhabited it. He was the all seeing eye of the village, a very grumpy smelly fellow. A figure stands in the dark awaiting your arival, it is The gate Keepers Helper Gorck. Awaiting your very arival to the village. A top the gate sat a owl whom was like a siren, and for told of danger.

" Well took you long enough, to get here I thought I die of old age." Gorck said and scratched his smelly orc pits." So why you come to Hollow Village? Are you Just a passers-by, to get to your next destination or do you wish to be a resident and escape the human world?" Gorck says bruskly. He was a odd creature. Kind yet everything was on a timer for him.

Town Hall
(Next step to entering the Kingdom. Time to meet the Mayor)

A black mist pops up after you make it through the gate and out rings and familiar voice."Congratulations, you made it past the gates and Gorck my silly Henchman. Now just follow this cobble stone path, you should find your way to the Mayors office.Don't be late, the mayor does not enjoy tardiness." She said and jumped."Oh bones and spiders speaking of I must be off, very very late. Good luck just follow the path." With that the odd Mortuaria is off in a puff of smoke again, leaving you on your own, the path to the mayor.

To the West lay Town Hall. To the North, The Draw Bridge (which you have just passed). You slowly walk down the path and get to what is known as the path of Decisions. A place to decide where you go from here. However you must meet the Mayor first and get your bearings. The Mayor sits at a desk behind big oak doors. She humbly rules Hollow Village and has done so successfully for the past thousand or so years.

A fog of a goo bubbling Fountain Lay at the Center Of The path, In the middle Of a dead Garden, With stone walkways leading To And From. The gardens Black Roses, Deadly Night Shade, and Fennel filled the air with a sweet but bitter scent. Four small stone heads rested among the gardens "lush plants" "Forever in the Dark" is crudely carved deep Into each head stone. The faces were frowning and the eyes followed you where ever you walked. If you were lucky they would sing for you or even try to talk to you. Sometimes they try and confuse you.

Surrounding the Deathly Garden was stone that led to paths and separated the garden into four sections, these paths lead to wider roads of The Inner City. Beside each path a Statue was planted, each different by nature and look, each held a Jewel and a sign to tell you which road you should take.

Four statues stood at each road entrance. The one that lead to the house's was a werewolf warrior he carried a spear in one hand with a Giant emerald encrusted into the spear head, in his other hand he held a sign saying, This way east to the Living District.Below the statue it read Kane the Barbarian Wolf, He lived as he died wild and free. The next statue was of a older looking woman with a pointed hat and ratty clothes, one hand she carried a crystal ball made of Amethyst and her other hand held a sign that said to the South ye must travel to Shop and Gather. At the base of this statue it said Methelda the Witch, Died in a tragic broom accident. The next statue was a funny looking Man, he seemed to look like an ordinary human, but much taller. One hand he held a club with a diamond embedded in the wood, his other hand Held a sign saying back to the Gate with Ye or to the Mortuary. His inscription was Jasper the Ogre, big old bumbling fool who did not for see is sorrowful fate. The last statue was of a woman, she seemed so regal and beautiful almost as if the statue could come to life, a small headress sat upon her head with Rubies encrusted into it. One hand she held a sign that said This way west to the mayor, and the other she held a book that looked like it had ancient writing along it. Her inscription at her feet read, The Mayor Vixen, past, present and now, she awaits your arrival.

Town Square
(where the Mayor awaits your arrival)
Inside the Mayor's office there was a waiting room with a disgruntled employee. She was part gargoyle, so she looked human but some features were very gargoyle like." Oh Gissilda Be gone with and your grumpy attitide." The voice of Mortuaria comes just as you have told the Gargoyle your name."Hello welcome to The Mayor Vixens office. You must of made it through the gate. Your name___ Oh its you, nice to see you again.Go on in the Mayor is waiting." She says and ushers you in. The Mayor sits at her desk, chair turned, until that precise moment. Her voice rings out."Welcome to my village."She asked a almost hallow voice. Her chair turns to reveal the statue from the path, but alive and more beautiful then the stone carving.
