The Forest of Nazradil

Axel huffed in agreement and brought up the rear. He narrowly avoided puncturing his paw, nearly growling in annoyance.

"Who the hell told them to go somewhere like this?" he murmured. "I understand homeland security but good grief!"

Of course it wasn't the time for jokes, but he just couldn't help himself. It wasn't good to be all worked up. Mistakes were easier made that way.

Her body slammed into his and knocked him from the air aside, the fur on her back raised up and she let out a heavy snarl over to his direction. Turning slowly her pace threatening as she moved over to him, lowering her head to the floor a deep growl erupted in her throat. She let out a husky howl with snarls in it's chime, announcing the fight beginning like the sound of battle drums and trumpets. It awoke her pack who shot upright with saliva dripping from their mouths, eager to see the out come of this fight. Liliths heavy body brought its way upon to it's heinds and she fell heavily with a vibrating thud.

Her body then hurtled its way through the air like a lion coming out of the grass to pounce on its pray. Her heavy structure slamming into his side, and paws with their claws extended wrapping around his body. Making her muzzle shape its way around his mouth and snarling harshly as they began to tumble through the cold snow down the mountain. Snarls and growls coursing and ripping their way through her throat. A rush of adrenalin shredding its way through her body as she jolted her head left and right whilst biting on his muzzle in a savage way.

Though Caleb had no chance in beating her he slashed at her sides causing small cuts, and tried to bite her back with every snap of her jaw. They were moving fast down the hill and he was able to half break free as they fell allowing him more movement space for evading her attacks. He didn't think of anything but getting past her, he would go home tonight or die trying.

He growled back at her as he managed to get at her neck, it was the back of her neck however so it didn't help much but at least he knew he somehow managed to get on top of her. It didn't last for long in all the chaos he was thrown off her when she hit the ground from a small cliffed ledge they had fallen off. She was now on top of him yet again. They were both a bloody mess now, though he was worse off than she was. He was going to go home, that was the only thing that kept him going.

They both tumbled down the hill and took blows from one another, her skin was thick with the muscle and layers of fur which protected her, the blood on her face came from the biting of his muzzle, but she could feel the stinging in her sides from his claws. The heat from her breath steamed in front of her face when they hit the top of the hill, the other wolves came rushing down with their barks, snarls and howls of excitment to them fighitng, immature mutts, she thought. Standing ontop of him now considering the momentum which took them down the hill, her paw heavily digging onto his chest looking at him. "You insolent fool!" She barked in his face.

Her paw lifted from his body and made its way heavily across his face in a feral manner clawing against his jowls. The movement rolling him over for a chance to grab him from behind. She took the scruff of the neck - no pain was in her bite as this was a way for mothers to carry their young. However, she bit harder than any caring mother and then threw him as far as she could into a nearby tree. A snarl ripping from her throat as she lunged her body forward adding more momentum to her attack.

They had landed at the bottom of the mountain. She was on top of him and he could feel the warmth of her breath on his face. He leaned in closer 'You insolent fool!' was all she said before she flipped him and threw him into a tree. It took him a second before he recovered, just in time to see her rushing at him. He jumped out of the way at the last second as she just catches his left paw and slams it into a tree. He yelped as he pulled his foot away and tried to run. He could outrun her but if the other wolves joined in he would not be able to outrun them, not with a hurt foot. He slightly whimpered as he ran trying not to use his hurt foot. He howled hoping Red was near by. She would save him, she would know just what to do.

Laura skidded down the hill after then finished rolling down it. She would have to be brave- it wasn't Caleb's fault this was happening, and he didn't deserve to be hurt. She then dashed and slid between the two of them, standing a bit closer toward Caleb. She gave Lilith her own warning growl, and stared at her a bit coldly.

"I said it was my fault. No need for you to hurt him," she snapped at her, her voice harsh and loud. "Caleb run." She ordered him, looking towards the way out of the territory in hopes he'd leave.

Redbird halted next to Axel as he made a joke. It was his personality to make innapropriate jokes, whether it was content or simply the time he decided to say it. A nasty snarl escaped her nervous maw, lips pulling back to bare her young set of stong teeth. "This isn't the time" she warned him, instantly swivling her ears as the sound of Caleb's howl raped the silence of the night air. He was hurt and pleading for help. The new Alpha had never been beyond the edge of Bloodcall territory but the fond memories of playing with Caleb and growing up together pushed her through the thorns behind her two escorting males.

Redbird was smaller than both Onyx and Axel, but her posture demanted respect, just like her Father's had done.

"We need to hurry" The blood in the snow did not smell like Caleb, but the small patches of fur that, like her own, were torn by the thich thorn bushes smelled just like the Omega male. She turned to Axel and growled "Lead the way. If we find Lillith harming Caleb, prepare to fight."

Her mind buzzed with indecision. Would Lillith fight them, or would she listen to reason? Red had just assumed she wouldn't, considering how the omega was most likely pleading with her to understand.

Axel's ears flattened in concession and he let out a low whine before taking the time to look around and lowered his muzzle to the ground carefully. The blood wasn't as fresh as it should have been, and none of the drops fell the way they should if there was only Caleb struggling through the thorns.

Without further hesitation, he trotted with well-placed steps and measured strides. It was a plus, again, that he hunted for himself at night, because he didn't have much of a problem finding his way through through the broad expanse of the forest.

He perked his ears and held on to the memory of the direction Caleb's distressed howl came from. Halfway through, the terrain was easier to traverse, more rocks coming out of the undergrowth than thorns.

"If we keep heading this way we should be there by the time the moon makes it to the left of the sky," he huffed.

Onyx watched Axel do his thing, sniffing around and inspecting the prints in the snow and the blood trails before heading off in the direction he'd decided on. Onyx and Redbird followed as he began to traverse the dense wood and the three of them made their way as quickly as possible whilst remaining stealthy. They trekked for a good while, with only the odd comment from Axel or Redbird along the way but Onyx didn't hear what was said: his mind was in other places, as it often was.

He was wandering as a wolf through the wood just outside the borders of his pack's territory, looking for new things to discover. He was so inquisitive in his youth and spent so much more time as a wolf than he does these days. Suddenly a smell filled his nostrils. A smell that was completely new to him, yet somehow vaguely familiar at the same time.

Onyx blinked and the memory dissipated. Looking around, they were passing through a large clearing in the trees. Redbird said something which might have been a rebuke aimed at Axel but Onyx wasn't focused enough to recognize what was said and his mind soon dragged him back into his past once again.

This time he was in his human form and he was stood with Ambertalon, whose face was sympathetic but stern. Onyx pleaded with him, "You can't make me choose. You're my best friend, you have to understand, I can't-- I can't--"His legs gave way beneath him and he sat crumpled on the floor looking exasperated,"I can't leave, but I-- I can't abandon them either. Don't make me choose."

A chilling half-growl, half-howl not too far off jolted him back to the present, sparing him the pain of reliving any more of it. He was a little dazed at first, not really taking much in properly, like he was in the clearing: all he knew at first was that they were ascending a steady incline and that there was a mountain a little way ahead. Suddenly it struck him and he came around completely from his muse,
"That was Lilith's battle-cry... she's fighting. It was close but we need to hurry, if she's fighting Caleb we don't have much time."

Axel nodded.

"Then do your best to keep up," he warned before taking off, his paws falling in place steadily and hardly missing a step. At first he had only wanted to keep his night skills to a minimum but this Lilith lady seemed to have a bit of a sadistic streak. They were nearing a slope after a while.

"Hold on to your tails," he called over his shoulder before his mass of black and white fur disappeared over the curve of the land.

The silent travel was not enough to keep her anxious mind under control. She wondered so many things: If that howl marked the end of Caleb's life; for one. Redbird ground her teeth together, relieving the pressure plaguing her head. This night had been one of complete and utter chaos. The young leader kept close to Axle's tail, following him through whatever she had to in order to stay at his side.

The occasional sigh of reflection caught her swivling ears as their pace slowed, catching Red's attention and casting her eyes on Onyx. The wolf wasn't in the present. Working on autopilot as his mind wandered aimlessly through, by the twisted expression in his brow, seemed like living nightmares.

The land took them over a hill and to the base of a steep incline, where the sounds of wrestling and desperate whines turned the group's attention collectively.

"Axel, where are they?!" The fur on the back of Red's neck stood on end, ready to sprint in whatever direction he made clear. If she had to, she would fight.

Axel's ears turned on their own and he darted off in the direction of a rather large lump in the distance, the scents inf the cold winter air devouring his sense of smell.

"This way," he grunted, his pace uneven and hurried. The scent of blood was getting sharper the further they went. But there was a third wolf in their destination's direction. The other lump, the one he could assume to be Caleb, trying to move away at a much slower pace.

"Damn," he cursed under his breath and picked up the pace. It almost seemed like the other two were fighting to get to his fellow pack mate. Axel pushed his legs further, his body becoming long enough for practical flight. A low rumble erupted from the base of his throat and a rather high and shrill howl that nearly made him flatten his own ears.

Kaia Tsukiyomi, wolf with sharp instincts but always procrastinates to listen to calls, was watching closely at what was happening from the top of the hill. She just laid there in wolf form, trying to get a close look at the battle. Kaia loved action, especially when she is part of it.I gotta stop taking long walks around here..I miss everything now a days..

She had no idea who Caleb was. New recruit? Prisoner? Whoever he was, Kaia mainly watched him. Who is that guy? A friend? He can fight, but not as good as Lilith. She then sees Laura slide in and Kaia hears a faint 'Run.' from where she was. Run..? So he's a friend? But he just fought Lilith! I'm so confused.. Kaia's ears pointed down and she let out a small whimper in confusion.

"Kaia! Get over here!" Called out one of the members.

She looks at Caleb, Lilith and Laura one last time before walking to the person who called her, "Yea?"

"If Lilith calls out for back-up, we're jumping in so pay attention!" The person gives Kaia a scolding glare.

She didn't care about the glare because those words made Kaia's ears perk up. She could use a good fight, "I'm always ready for a fight," she begins to go back to her watching spot, "always.." She watched carefully to see if there would be a call for back-up. She sniffs the air and smells some other wolves. Now who can that be? She looks around her, but not them and decides it's her nose messing with her. She begins to watch again, still waiting for a call..

Onyx spotted the scrap almost exactly the same time as Axel had, and darted off toward the lupine shapes in the distance, shouting to Redbird in case she hadn't noticed. As they approached, it seemed as though there was a temporary cease fire; an unknown wolf was stood defiantly between the unmistakeably over-sized wolf that could only have been Lilith, and the other which must have been Caleb.
Suddenly Axel let out a howl, almost like a war cry as he charged forward. So much for not doing anything that may be taken as aggression. Onyx could only hope that Lilith and the Bloodcalls wouldn't take it that way...

Everything hit the young new leader so fast, she felt she didn't have any time to react. Her paws dug into the dirt and she was off following Onyx, pushing her ears back to mute the horrible sounds of fighting in the distance. A weak bark of nervousness whined pased her mouth, tongue out as she strained to keep up with the adrenaline pumping through her body.

"CALEB!!!" Finally, the piercing howl she had hoped for came to fruition, wracking her body and lifting her layers of fur up in shock. She hoped she would never have to see anything like this, tonight of all nights...

In the distance, Redbird could still smell her father's body charring upon the pyre, making her that much more aggrivated. Not only at Lilith, but her own pack. Why would Caleb do this?!

"LILITH! GET AWAY FROM HIM!" A growl ripped up and out of her body, trembling the young thing in ways she had never experianced. The deadly black wolf was certainly a scary sight, especially since Redbird had not seen her in so many years. That day was still fresh in her mind, remembering how small she was and how she hid behind her mother's haunches when Lillith threatened her father and ran off.

So much blood...

With the trickles of blood dripping down her muzzle she threw herself at Calab, now whimpering at the base of the tree. Pulling her attention back to him, she looked through her good eye and tugged back her jowls to reveal the crimson droplets tending to the snow as they fell. "Young wolf, the sentence you have committed is trespassing... for that, you are sentenced to.. death." Her words were deep in her telepathy and she dives at the wolf with a killing glare in her eye. Tearing into his throat with her teeth, allowing them to course their way down through his jugular. Savagely tearing backward and forwards against his neck until his whimpers, and horrific cries came to a stop. Then his body was thrown to a distance and bent awkwardly over a rock.

She let out a howl to the pack behind her as Axel came rushing forward, and two of the wolves took him down into the ground. Lilith was on him in seconds, a paw against his throat and teeth tearing through his muzzle to keep his teeth from reaching her too. She ripped through the thick bone protecting his face, and tore off his muzzle aside, the blood dripping out onto the snow. Lilith bounded away from both of the bodies leaving her pack behind her to maul Axel's body. Sight of Redbird coming over the hill brought a canine-like smirk onto Lilith's face, she stood up on her hind legs and snarled in response to her.

Her red and white eye onlooking the upcoming party, standing behind her borders.

Onyx realised he'd dropped behind Redbird, as though his subconscious wanted to avoid what he was charging towards. All that history and hurt... part of him had hoped he'd never have to face her again, but there was nothing for it. He glanced at the she-wolf beside him. I have to be strong for her... strong like I was for her father... Redbird's shout of warning brought him around from his musings and directed his focus to the spectacle at hand. After witnessing Lilith's bloodbath he couldn't believe his eyes. Even for Lilith, slaughtering two innocent young wolves without so much as a trial, or any kind of parley was a little extreme. She must be taking the death of her Alpha pretty rough.

He knew Lilith would be spoiling for a fight with Redbird and was pretty sure he could see a sneer on her face as they approached. As far as he could tell Lilith hadn't even noticed him, so intent was her fixation on Redbird, which would have suited him perfectly were it not for the imminent danger that put Redbird in. His decision was one that barely needed making; as they neared their quarry he leapt in Redbird's path, putting himself directly between her and Lilith and preventing Redbird from doing and hopefully from saying anything too rash. "There was no need for that, Lilith. Especially not today of all days." He had to fight to get the words out confidently, as his voice was determined to falter. All he could think of was how she would possibly react at seeing him once again after all this time...

Redbird was absolutely petrified. It was a flurry of horror as the she-wolf suddenly jumped Axel and swiftly stole his life away. Her eyes widened at the sight of blood and pelt, bleeding fuzz flying out of Lillith's mouth to stain the ground. Red couldn't watch anymore, they needed to leave, they needed to go home!

Caleb was dead and now Axel...

"ONYX" His name came out like a pup's cry for help. The new leader standing on wobbling legs, hair puffed out with horror and adrenaline. She wanted so badly to take Onyx's tail in her mouth and pull him away, retreat and ball up to morn the horrible outcome of her Father's death. Ambertalon would never have let this happen. NEVER.

Redbird cursed herself, filling up with a rage that immediately brought tears to her eyes. Two more of her pack were dead. It was all her fault. Before the young wolf could make another mistake, she turned on her pads and bolted away, yipping and howling for Onyx to follow after her. The weariness in her sound was that of regret and remorse.

Lilith's head was low, and the growl sombre through the space around them. The occasionally yip, and howl of excitment came from the amateur wolves at her rear just raring to get in on the action. They didn't circle so much as pace backwards and forwards in their own spots, whilst the younger ones sat there observing the teaching Lilith was providing them. Bringing her paws up one after the other when she steadily moved towards an exeptionally terrified looking Redbird, her eyes did not blink.

Then their was a moments pause when Onyx got between them, none of her own knew about their past, so her distraction had caused quite the curious of silences. Lilith's head rose up along with her ears when she met his gaze, and she was taken back by his entrance into such a situation. He's still alive? She thought inwardly to herself, and her ears came back again, but her head stayed on a level with his, not lowering herself beneath him. Her vocals thundered in her throat when her mind reconnected their old telepathic link to converse. "Now that the old dog has kicked the bucket, you fondle over his pup bitch?" She cursed. Snapping a bark with a streak of saliva leaving her mouth to Redbirds direction.

She circled around Onyx in the same pacing motion she adopted on her hunts. Her barks shaping their way through her jowls with the occasional profanity. "You scum of this planet! The bane of my existence." She stopped in front of him and was so close to pressing her muzzle against his in a threatening snarl.

Onyx was briefly taken aback by the utter abhorrence in Lilith's words. It was all he should have expected, but it still shook him up a little. Lilith was drawing closer and Onyx started to worry that she was going to try and go for Redbird, but when he turned to check she was okay, Redbird was already a good 200 yards into the distance. It was only then that he realised she'd been shouting his name, he'd been so focussed on Lilith that he hadn't even noticed Redbird's pleas to leave.

He took a few steps back, away from Lilith's scolding leer, "I didn't come here to open old wounds or carve out new ones, but you seem determined to do so." His eyes flicked to the lifeless bodies of the two young wolves and his voice grew pained, "All we came for was the safety of our own, but you have once again overstepped your mark. So eager to deal death and judgement, heedless to the consequences of your actions." It was clear that his anguish was not solely for the recent loss of his pack members, though only Lilith of the onlookers would know of the primary cause. "All you have done today is prove that Ambertalon was right..." with that, he turned on his heels and made after Redbird, hoping that Lilith would have the decency to leave them to go... enough blood had been shed for one day, especially one such as this.
