34 ABY (After the Battle of Yavin)
The fancy First Order spaceship was going through warp speed after barely escaping the unexpected destruction of the Starkiller base. A young man in dusty clothes was attempting to blend in with his surroundings. The last thing he wanted was to get noticed. While his thoughts tried to process recent events, the voice of a female Stormtrooper surprised him from behind. “You. Check in with General Hux at once.” She grabbed him by his worn-out shirt to pull him up. “Hurry up.” she hissed. The young man nodded and did as he was told. “Yes, Captain.” he replied obedient, knowing Phasma would not hesitate to report him.
His first name was the only thing Thonovan remembered from his time before the First Order enslaved him. At times, he saw fragments of memories but he was far too young at the time to put the pieces together. There was a very high chance that he would never discover anything about his true identity. For a while, he accepted the fact that he would always be a slave. It was only recently that he had received new hope for escaping the First Order’s grip. One of the Stormtroopers, FN-2187, had escaped and was now fighting alongside the Resistance. If FN-2187 could do it, why shouldn’t Thonovan be able to follow in those footsteps? After all, the Resistance had managed to destroy the Starkiller base!
When arriving at the medical room of the ship, General Hux stared at Thonovan’s badge: M-75. Slaves didn’t need to have names, a number was much more efficient. “Patch up Kylo Ren.” were the exact orders from General Hux. M-75 (a.k.a. Thonovan) had been trained as a medic for the First Order. Being forced to heal the bad guys, it couldn’t get much more ironic than that. When Thonovan looked at the table in front of him, he noticed Kylo Ren was unconscious and had lost a lot of blood. While Thonovan started to patch up Kylo Ren, General Hux turned towards Phasma. “I shall consult with Supreme Leader Snoke at once. Make an inventory of the Stormtroopers.”
Thonovan had never ever seen Snoke up close but rumors had it that it was him who bought Thonovan in the first place. One could question the term ‘bought’, considering Snoke had a habit of just taking what he wanted.
With Hux absent, Phasma busy with inventory and Kylo Ren unconscious, Thonovan knew it would be now or never. Without explaining himself to the other medics, he casually walked out of the room, as if he were to get something. Outside the room, he started to increase his walking speed quite a bit. Being with the First Order for so long sure has some benefits, like knowing every single detail of their ships’ structures. Thonovan crawled through a ventilation system and made his way to the emergency ships. He wasn’t a pilot himself so he needed to pick one with a pilot droid inside. Luckily, pilot droids didn’t ask any too many questions. “Initiate! Set location: D’Qar! Find objective: General Leia Organa!”
All seemed to be going too smooth for comfort and the side doors opened. Thonovan could taste the freedom as his ship started to take off toward the open doors. Suddenly a loud alarm went off and Thonovan frowned. Of course it wouldn’t be that easy. “Unauthorised lift-off.” Next thing he knew the Stormtroopers, led by Phasma, came running towards him while the doors started to close. The pilot droid seemed to malfunction and the escape ship started to fly all around, creating chaos in the room. At that exact moment, General Hux walked in. “What is the meaning of this?”
Thonovan’s eyes widened in fear. There were only two outcomes to this scenario: escape or death. He pressed a big red button and the droid started to make loud protesting sounds. The ship zoomed towards Hux, forcing him to duck aside, and continued to the doors who were almost closed by now. Right before reaching them, Thonovan made eye contact with a helmless Kylo Ren, who seemed to be completely recovered. The ship made it out by just an inch and went into warp speed. Thonovan had escaped and just like Finn, he was hoping to find the Resistance. But the look of Kylo Ren would not leave his mind. It had been so intense and serious that Thonovan knew it would only be a matter of time before he would look Kylo Ren in the eyes again.
Despite the successful escape, not everything went as planned. “Error. Error. Database damaged.” the pilot droid said, most likely as a result of getting hit during the escape. “Location untraceable. Objective untraceable.” Great, lost in space with only a malfunctioning droid as company.
