The Exposure

She laughed at the girl's question. "I like learning things that aren't quite as popular. Like this 'stick', parkour, I've always had an interest in weaponry. Especially ones I can make under dire circumstances, such as the one we live in now, like this 'stick' here. Made it shortly before everything went to hell. I can fight alright with a few other things, but this makes it to where I can fight with a longer range and blunt force rather than slashing a sorry blade around. Less risk of infection, whether it be touch or stray blood"

She paused to listen further. "Hey, you laugh, no doubt at my size, but I'm probably a hell of a lot better at hide and seek than you are." She winked "It's actually quite helpful to be smaller. Helps to be quieter, quicker, and I can jump father than most and take less from my weight hitting the ground. Can get into a lot more places too." She spoke jokingly and seriously at the same time. Her really was an advantage for her lifestyle and these times.

"And it's possible. You did come at me with a brick and told me to leave from way over there." She gestured to the place she stood when she originally threatened her, "And that won't do, you'll have to come with me, you know, if you want to live and everything." She joked, but did actually start walking away to whatever unknown destination.

She got up and then began putting on her clothing. They were nice and neat, but that was only because the damn purists that weren't sympathizers were always demanding that they be higher than all the rest. In all honesty, she would love to be blighted but she needed to stay pure in order to do more research on the complicated disease. "Ahh.. How complicated. My life would be so much more interesting if I lived down below..." She mumbled to herself. Sure her life now was anything a person could ever ask for, but she took an interest in those with a life where they had to work hard.

"Maybe I'll go down again, just sneak out for a little." She smiled. She was in university at the moment, however, she's been helping others medically, and secretly has been trying to cure those that were blighted to little success. She was just about to get up, until she heard a few parents started yelling. Serenie looked out the window, only to find a mother trying to force their child out of the house with a broom. This made her disappointed. "Pretty sad how parents treat their children now..." She mumbled, grabbing her parasol, and walking out the door.

As she left her room, she also left the building, smiling and waving to the people who also attended the same university. The family where the girl had been kicked out seemed to have sparked an interest, and maybe she would be paying them a visit. Well, as a doctor, she was sometimes put in charge of checking if someone were infected or not. However, she, herself, held a small grudge to purists who hated the blighted, so she let a few blighted live with the purists until the blighted were found out. It got her in trouble multiple times, but she was able to smooth talk her way out of it.

Name: Leo Nikias
Sex: Male
Age: 17
Occupation: Dept collector
Description:
5e688c8828bbf4187814648a5dd804a4.jpg

Blight: severer. Leo's blight is in patches that cover from his hands up to his elbows. It is on both arms, but he covers it with bandages.
Social stance: Doesn't care
Infection point: Leo's blight is in patches that cover from his hands up to his elbows. It is on both arms, but he covers it with bandages.

Leo was making his way to another dept owner. Even though he was young, Leo was very good at his job. Obviously he didn't do it in any sort of legal way, which is why the boy was carrying an aluminum baseball bat with him. The boys arms were draped in bandages to hide his blight. He turned a few corners in the streets till he got to his destination. But his eyes were met with a strange scene. Two girls were, well it looked like they were arguing. On the floor were his targets. "Well it looked like you beat me to it" he laughed at the girl with the bow staff, he was guessing she was the one responsible. "Are you a dept collector as well?" he asked them. The baseball bat hanging by his side, held in one hand.

Ray hopped off of the rooftop and rolled onto another one. He kept doing so until he was only one story above the ground. He turned his gaze below him and saw a man and a woman. It looked like he was dragging her somewhere. "Are they running away from something?" Said Ray before jumping off the last rooftop and onto the ground. He hid himself behind a dumpster and observed them carefully. Are they Bluecorp employees? he thought. Ray was doing his best to spy on the Bluecorp staff, but to him, those two did not seem like they belonged to Bluecorp. Why would they be running?

He stepped out from behind the dumpster and walked up to them. "You shouldn't be running around in this area. They might suspect you for a deprived and take your life away." He said in a calm tone of voice, walking towards the two.

She continued walking through the town, and she appeared to have been quite well known. She was a charmer when it came to the purists, and she was kind hearted to the ones that were blighted, even though some of them really wouldn't hesitate to kill her for just being a purist. Well in any case, and decided to keep her parasol at her side, smiling softly. "Lets see now.." She muttered, unsure on what to do. She could pay that family a visit, but for now, they wouldn't be pleased with seeing her after kicking their own child out of their house, so that wasn't an option.

She decided to look around a bit, and then slipped into a little hole she dug in a dark alley way. It wasn't the cleanest, but she always made sure that it was disinfected and she always wore gloves. She was unsure on how the blight would spread through people, or if it would just naturally develop in others, but for now, she would go around and question others. In any case, it was clear that she were a purist, as she was dressed nicely and appeared to be wealthy. She had experience with combat (Ironically) and she was able to defend herself; she wasn't a lost sheep.

"First, I should question people how they got it." She chimed, and others would stare at her as she walked, as though there were something wrong with her. Some stares were out of envy, some were out of hatred. Some looked like they would do everything they could to get her infected, but at this point, she had learnt to ignore it. As she was walking, she found a small group of three; a man and a woman, along with another man who had stepped out of the dumpster. "Excuse me?" She intended to ask, hoping that she wasn't intruding anything. "May I ask a few questions?" She was careful, as to not let others realize she snuck in, but based off her appearance, she wasn't doing very well.

Ray was interrupted by the soft voice behind him. He turned his gaze to the female and adjusted his gloves. A purist? He thought to himself, seeing how blight-free she seemed. It did not matter to him whether she was infected or not, for he was infected himself, but it had been a while since he last saw a healthy human.

"Yes?" His smile was warm and welcoming. "What is it, miss?" he added.
@Teomessos

She was, in fact, a researcher. She was hoping to get a few answers from him, and a few other of the blighted, then quickly get back up to freshen up before others could catch on. "Question, if you don't mind me asking, how did you get your blight?" She was pretty straight forward and blunt, asking right off the bat. It was his choice whether he wanted to answer or not, as she wasn't forcing him to. The female herself had a pair of white gloves on, mainly because she was crawling through a hole to get here, and her clothing was a little dirty as well. She hid the hole somewhere and she always used that to get in and out of the area.

Of course it was covered up using mud and leaves and it was also behind a tree so it wasn't easy to find in the first place.

@Peter Crimsonblood

Ray stared at her in disbelief. He had just realized how much this girl resembled his Alexa. Furthermore, how did she know he was infected?
He touched the eyepatch that covered his blight and gave out a frantic sigh. "I got it through skin contact..." He paused for a second "And blood." He added. "May I ask who you are?"

@Teomessos

"Purist, Serenie is my name! Nice to meet you!"

The female smiled brightly, and she seemed to had loosened up. She had never touched someone through direct contact before, at least, besides her own parents. She was wearing gloves, and no matter how you looked at her, it would be hard to come in direct skin contact with herself. She didn't seem phased by the blood part, as she was a doctor and had to work with it. She stopped for a moment, and then looked into the purplish bag she brought with herself. "Give me a moment." She added.

She pulled out a wallet, and then gave him a handful of money. She was at the university on a scholarship, and a lot of people gave her money for whatever reason. She had more than enough to make a living where she lived, so she usually gave the blighted a stack of money so that it would hopefully brighten up their day. "Here! I insist!" She spoke, offering the money. She didn't know what he would do with it or if he would even accept it but, it would hopefully help him one way or another.

She was a strange one.

@Peter Crimsonblood

He stared at the handful of money she offered then at her. "You seem to have misunderstood the situation here, miss Serenie. I don't know about these two here, but I am neither a deprived nor a beggar." He leaned with his back against the brick wall behind him and crossed his arms, a gesture he usually offered when he felt disappointed or dissatisfied. @Teomessos

".. No.. I do this to anyone. I offer money since it's unfair that purists get everything.."

She kind of felt bad, as if retreating now. Again, she was pretty odd, but she took in a deep breath, and then smiled. If he didn't want it, then she could save up a bit more, just a little. "Hmm.." She scanned him quickly, and then scanned the other two quickly. Despite how she was acting earlier, her eyes seemed to have been moving rapidly, and her mind was scanning twice as fast. After that, she reverted back to a smile.

"Alright then." She chimed, and then looked down at the wrist only to see the time. "Ah.. I'll be late." She sighed, and looked back at the tree, the hole that was behind it. She really did need to go soon, but it would be troublesome if someone were to see her crawl through the hole. It'd cause a panic up in the purists, and it would probably cause more crimes to happen. "Mmmmn..." She muttered, and let out a sigh. With this many people on the roads, someone would be bound to see her just disappear behind a tree and inform someone. Sure she would be able to get up on time, but she would never be able to get away with it.

"I forgot to ask, what's your name?"

@Peter Crimsonblood

He smiled at her clumsy personality. She seemed to him like the kind of girl who would mean no harm towards anyone. It reminded him of himself. He pushed himself off of the wall with the tips of his fingers, lunging a bit forward. He walked up to her and reached out his hand for a handshake. "I'm Raymond. You can call me Ray." Her apparel gave him the impression that she had at least the slightest knowledge in medicine. It intrigued him. "Tell me, miss Serenine, what brings you here?" He asked, his eyes fixed momentarily on her bag.
@Teomessos

"I see, nice to meet you, Ray!"

She smiled gently, extending her arm, and shaking his hand in response. She was wearing gloves, so she didn't have to worry about getting infected though physical skin to skin contact. Well, she didn't wear the gloves to make it look like she were being rude by not wanting to touch others, but she always wore them, especially when handling medicine. Like how half of her head was pink, the other half was a chocolate brown colour, and it was inverted with her eyes as well. She looked abnormal, but hey, the blighted were more normal than she herself.

Her ears perked up at the sound of the question he asked her, and she began pondering. "Ehh... I came down here so I can ask people about their blight and how they got them. I'm a doctor and medical researcher in training, and I'm trying to find out what causes the blight, and how to rid of it." She concluded. It was fine to tell someone, since it wasn't much of a secret anyways. Most of her colleagues found it hopeless and she should just stop, but she's been working on that project for a while now.

"It's not fair, how the blighted are treated so different from the purists. Just moments ago, I found a family kicking out their child just because she had been blighted." It was clear that she sympathized with people who were blighted, and that was why she treated them slightly better, though as equals. She treated them just the same on how she treated purists.

@Peter Crimsonblood

Her words rang in his ears like the sunday morning church bells. It's not fair how the blighted are treated. The same words he had inherited from the love of his life. The same words he had been living by all this time. A doctor? I knew it. He thought. This girl will be the perfect teammate if she ever decides to join him. The perfect step in eliminating the blight and bringing Bluecorp down.

Suddenly, and after weeks of futile effort in his investigation, Ray felt a sudden wave of relief passing through his ill body, almost as if hope was being brought back into his life. "Such wonderful ideals, miss." He said, turning his gaze to the man and woman behind him for a moment, then back to Serenine. "What if I told you i can help you with your research?" He raised an eyebrow.
@Teomessos

Her eyes immediately lit up upon hearing that he could help her with her research. She wanted to be able to cure the damn infection; mainly because people treat others differently since the infection happened. "Really?! You can?!" She smiled brightly, and she seemed to have become incredibly enthusiastic; like a child upon hearing that they were allowed to have candy or something.

She didn't know much about experience and the world outside, despite all the research she had done and what she had seen. She, however, wouldn't mind being infected by the blight. But at the moment, it wouldn't be good as there were many medical books and equipment up in her university, so she needed to stay pure in order to look into it more. "Though the problem is that because society sees blighted as 'lower'. Trust me, I wouldn't mind, but I need to stay pure so I can keep doing research.." She let out a somewhat annoyed sigh. Why was it that she had to be so cautious?

@Peter Crimsonblood

Al drags her to an ally way and bursts through the back of a kitchen in a diner and pushes her into a storage closet to hide. As soon as the thugs ran in, they were escorted out by the kitchen staff

"Well, let's say you will also be helping me in the process." He said, his eyes tracing the childish expressions of excitement she was displaying. "As for staying pure, you needn't worry about that. I shall keep you safe from the infection." He added. He looked at the Bluecorp building he had jumped from earlier and pointed his gloved finger at it. "Are you familiar with that?" He asked curiously.
@Teomessos

"Bluecorp? Their famous, and infamous. Mainly for medical issues."

There wasn't a single doctor who didn't know of the name, and she wasn't an exception. They were well known for the medical knowledge and experiments. Also, she did know they were involved with the Blight one way or another, but she didn't know what the connection was one way or another. "There isn't a single doctor who doesn't know of the name, but why bring them up?" At this point, she was curious.

@Peter Crimsonblood

His eyes carried terrible pain inside them as he looked at her. He could not tell her of the atrocities Bluecorp had committed against him... against humanity. Not yet anyway. Not until he caught them red handed with the absolute proof.

"I have a reason to believe they are involved in..." He paused and turned around. Where did they go? The mysterious man and woman he came to talk to had vanished in thin air.
@Teomessos

She really wasn't sure what he was hiding, but she had a hunch that she would find out soon. Looking down at her watch, she seemed to have a slightly more panicked expression on her face. "Shoot.. The professor will be looking for me soon." She bit her lower lip, and she didn't look as relaxed as earlier. She really hated to end the conversation so early, but she didn't want to risk being found out. "Sorry, I have to leave, right now. Someone'll get suspicious of me." She continued and then bowed her head to be respectful.

After turning away from him, she was unsure weather or not he would follow her; she hoped not, as she went behind an old shack and moved away some leaves from the hole she covered up. She placed the dead leaves on the ground, crawling in and filling the gap in the wall with some dirt and soil. She had her parasol on her back, and she started beginning to climb. Since she was rushing, it didn't take long for her to slip and fall back to the bottom, letting out a semi-loud squeal. "Ow!"
