The Evrensel Conflict: Act 1 -- Paralogue 1: The Lost World

Abigail Delano/Courier Six- Character Sheet

The Rex didn't stand a chance. The bullets rip into its legs, hurting like a hundred bee stings at first, then a thousand when they sever arteries and bring the whole behemoth down with a ground-shaking THUD and pained roar.

"Should have just left us alone, big man!" Abby gets closer to just outside biting distance of the jaws, aims at the neck, and rattles off more rounds to cut into its throat and put the thing out of its misery. Bloody business, with gallons of blood oozing onto the ground from the big beast.

"Alrighty then." Abby looks around, patting her Death Pod as she looks at the havok it has wrought on these huge predators.

"This here is a lot of meat. Once we find Nolan, call the Tortoise, we'll have lots of fresh meat for the crew. Have us a good old cookout!" Abby says to Ziv, the only one around to talk too.

"Why, I think I can smell...the grill...now.." Abby trails off as she smells then sees the jungle around them catching fire. Very quickly.

"I didn't do it!" Abby declares. She pulls her Bowie Knife out of its sheath and runs to the dead Rex. She stabs into the burnt gums and carves out a long tooth by the root.

"Back to the cave!" Abby yells at Ziv and sprints back to the cave, bloody tooth in hand. The fire was in the other direction from the cave right then, but would spread there fast. Had to get to high ground away from the fire and smoke fast.

"Yeah, that's a side-effect I'll explain later." Dominique tells Nolan, rising with him to keep him steady.

"But hey, let's get upriver, find that cave with your friends. Don't want you getting snatched up again." She looks around warily. This world had dinosaurs, and one thing that was not really a dinosaur: The Indominus Rex. With her powers she could probably (likely) fight it off, but she would rather not run into the thing at all.

A distant but loud explosion from their one side alerts her to the glow of a fire that had been spreading out of their sight. The jungle, once serene, now comes alive as small dinosaurs and other critters run past them to avoid the inferno.

The symbiote ripples around her body.

Fire!

"Gotta go!" Dominique yells. Suddenly she is no longer the normal young woman he first saw; the symbiote morphs back into its golden yellow color and reforms around her. Nolan is picked up and held bridal style in her arms.

"Hold on, princess!" Vaudeville holds Nolan tight and leaps several feet up and forward upriver, ahead of the stampede of dinosaurs and flying reptiles in the wake of the fire. On their first landing, the two startle a Stegosaurus family and are nearly swatted aside by a spiked tail. A second leap and landing sets them aside the Indominus Rex and her pack, who flee with young at their feet and eggs in their jaws paying them no mind. She leaps again, and again to avoid the fire. Nolan is held close to her chest all the while, until on one leap, Vaudeville sees the cave from the air, and changes course mid-air by forming wings and flapping hard.

The two (though really only Vaudeville) descend on the cave in time to see an Allosaurus running away from it, scared off by the jungle fire and stampede coming its way.

"Touchdown!" Vaudeville announces when she lands at the cave entrance.

"You all missing a guy?" The symbiote asks the group, still holding Nolan as they will likely need to get going right away.

Kassandra of Sparta

Subtlety was not her strong suit, Kassandra would admit in better situations. There is movement, and it appears as if part of the jungle itself steps out from the darkness to talk to them. For a moment she takes this at face value, some other mystical being like that Reegan entity. Her experience with firearms has taught her quickly to recognize the shine of the barrel and stance of one being aimed at her, and also that their projectiles move too fast for her to dodge at his distance. She allows Alec to converse with the camouflaged man, ready to move and take him down should he decide to kill them for his own reasons.

There is apparently another group on this planet, mercenaries. Kassandra has killed her share of them. Warriors who fight and kill for coins were no match for warriors with a cause. They did not-could not-give their all to true combat. Kassandra appears to relax her stance when the man lowers his weapon. She is still ready to pounce on him in case this could be a clever ruse. And the creatures they've encountered are 'dinos'. Interesting name. The man does have a point that they don't have other options, but they needed to get to the others before they went anywhere.

Kassandra opens her mouth to tell the man this, but he shouts for them to get down first. Footsteps of something large approach, one of those dinos. She rolls back to her other weapons, slinging her bow back on and taking up her Nemean Claws. She presses herself back against the wall of the cave to try blending into it in the dark of the cave. Her whole body is tense, ready to act should the dino come for them.

Behind the dino though….Kassandra sees the ominous glow of a fire that gives the thing a terrifying silhouette. First the fire, then the BOOM of a distant explosion; that causes the creature to roar in surprise and fear, suddenly changing its stride to run around and away from the cave.

Kassandra steps off from the cave wall and looks down the cave. How deep was it? Would it be a shelter from the fire, or a tomb?

And what of Nolan?

THUNK

"Touchdown!" someone yells.

She turns back to the entrance. As if in answer to her concerns, Nolan has returned in the arms of a yellow-gold being with red eyes.

"Yes! We have!" exclaims Kassandra running out from the cave. She looks around, and sees Abby and Ziv also returning to the cave.

"We have an ally!" She informs the others, finding and pointing to the man who looks like a walking bush.

"Ally!" She yells at the man they had just met before asking with utmost urgency "Where can we avoid this fire?"

"Abby!" Alec shouted as she ran back with Ziv, standing up as best he could. "The fuck did you just do?!" He hobbled over to her and gave her a big hug, both worried, and absolutely shocked at how one minute she leaves, the next, the forest is on fire, and she has the flamethrower gun thing.

Then Vaudville dropped in with Nolan. And Alec just... Well, he was shocked, but not as shocked as he would've been like two months ago... or has it been longer? I dunno, time's been blurry since this all started. "Uh..... Yeah, thanks. Alec." He put up his hand to shake hers, then realized now wasn't the time, "op, later--"

"The river gets deeper and wider a few clicks downstream, if we cross it, it'll buy us some time to distance ourselves!" The hunter interrupted Alec to the group; already starting to jog away. He stopped to turn around and see no one following. "Well? Do you want to burn alive? Come on!" Noe wasn't the time to stop and stand there. The fire was spreading and the smoke was starting to become thicker as it trailed their way.

The river indeed got deeper as they ran down beside it, but the fire was gaining more traction as the minutes passed. They could hear the sounds of animals inside the forest screaming out in pain or fear. The trees burning besides them began to collapse, one of them falling down overhead of Vaudville and Nolan.

In the arms of a aesthetically pleasing symbiote

As Nolan was helped to his feet, his attention hazy but adrenaline hits his system when an explosion goes off, setting the dark skies alight, no doubt meaning a fire would be spreading to them. Within seconds of it occurring, Nolan saw golden yellow in his peripheral which caused him to turn so he could properly see what it was.

The nice lady that was helping him now stood well above him and replaced by a golden yellow figure with red eyes and sharp teeth and other features that made his cheeks get pink, he heard her call out to him to hang on before picking him up and holding him bridal style. One clawed hand held under his knees and the other wrapped around his chest. Feeling her fingers pressed against him, Nolan did as he was told and held onto her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders and using his free hand to interlock with the aforementioned arm.

His grip tightened once she jumped into the air, a yelp escaping him as the air rushed past him and the feeling of a cushioned landing before another jump followed by another landing. Focusing on her so he didn't get nauseous from the height and sights, he kept said gaze on her head out of flustered embarrassment when his gaze wandered.

When they finally landed back in the clearing where the cave was, reunited with the others, he remained in her arms as she didn't motion for him to get onto his feet. Not to mention, he rather liked where he was. He did give a weak wave to his friends and Alec who looked dumbfounded, Fire surrounding the area, apparently caused by Abby according to Alec.

Movement above him, he saw that a tree was falling with Vaud and Nolan in its path, so quickly Nolan shook her shoulder and called out. "Look out above!"

Location: fleeing the flaming jungle
~=========~-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------~=========~

At some point during the group's run, they had lost the soldiers but were beginning to encounter another problem. The jungle had caught fire for some odd reason. It was hard to tell when and how the fire had started, only that the group was now surrounded by flaming trees and fleeing wildlife. A look back at where they had started told them it would be a bad idea considering there was more fire, along with a small platoon of armed mercenaries behind the wall of fire. The safer choice was to deal with the single obstacle of fire vs the two obstacles of fire and soldiers.

Somehow, Reta had made her way to the front of the pack. She was prepared to run into the fire, and waved for everyone behind to follow her. It would've been nice if she had the assassin's sickle on her to splash water on the flames, but there was no use trying to think of what could have been now. She held one hand in front of her to shield her eyes from the embers floating past. It only lasted a few moments of intense heat before the group emerged into a small clearing in front of a cave. Reta came out of the burning wood coughing from the smoke, clutching her chest as her lungs stung. She was partially bent over as she coughed, but looked up to see another group of individuals that did not look like the soldiers that they were being chased by before. They also looked to be fleeing. Reta put up a hand and waved to the group to try and get their attention. Once they noticed her, she pointed to herself, and then the rest of the group as they also emerged from the bushes. She then pointed to the other group. It was Reta's attempt at asking if they could join the group in their escape.

Vivian followed Reta guiltily. She should've been happy that they'd gotten out unscathed, but the fact that she'd led them all into danger, as well as lied to them, darkened her mood.

Her crimson eyes stared at the ground as they came across a clearing, the heart beats of another party beating in her ears. She tensed up, but relaxed as they didn't seem to be in the same uniform as the soldiers.

Slinking back, Vivian wrapped herself in the shadows leaving nothing but her predatory, albeit sad eyes left in sight to those without night vision. She didn't quite have the guts to leave without saying anything, at least not without saying thanks and apologizing, but she supposed she should be satisfied that she wasn't about to hurt any of them considering she'd feasted not that long ago.

The thought of biting a living human person made her sick, but she had been left no choice. It was her nature now, and it was not to be denied. Living with constant access to freely given blood had almost made her forget.

Voláre had little expectations of so much as surviving right now, so when someone grabbed him by the arm and pulled him along he gasped but followed obediently. It was better than being too terrified to move. Things seemed to have gotten largely out of hand though, between the fighting and the giant creatures and suddenly a wild fire…

He followed Reta through the flames, albeit nervously. He probably could have cast some ice or something to help with the heat at least. But it was too late for that. Instead they made it out to see the handful of other people in this clearing by a cave. And they were running. He recognized them from earlier though.

—————————

Ziv rose a brow to Abby when she cheered and spoke of eating the Dino. "As hungry as I am, I'm not sure how edible this thing is…" He mused. He'd love nothing more than to eat, but frankly he didn't trust this creature.

But that was the least of their worries. The whole damn forest was catching fire! "Oh even more hell..." When Abby declared she didn't do it Ziv nearly face palmed. He shook it off and followed at her call to return though. That was the best idea right now.

They returned before too long, thankfully. Alec was quick to greet Abby, and Kassandra informs them of their new ally. Nolan was here as well, thank god. They went out to look for him initially, after all. He sighed heavily and shook his head. He looked to the hunter and nodded, about to follow though he paused. Someone else— a few someones were coming.

When Reta emerged with her small group and Voláre was among them, he turned to see the new presences and Reta's gesture. Oh good, she found him. He had forgotten about the kid for a moment. He nodded to them. "Let's get out of here." He called to them, gesturing for them to come along. He wasn't about to leave them behind.

Cain and the others, with the fiery inferno surrounding them, would also have trees start to fall upon them. Skinny ones with their roots popping out of the ground, the ones quickest to dry during the season and first to be engulfed in fire. Slowly, they began to crumble as the wood turned to charcoal, but before any could fall upon them, something cut them into chunks in an instant.

They would fall to the ground in pieces, as a narrow, light purple light struck through the burning trees like a sword. Across the forest was a hooded figure; their right eye glowing purple, but their face obscured in darkness. The purple blades were coming from them, attached to his wrists like they were extending out from under his skin. He looked at them all for a moment, then pointed to the other group, and managing to throwing his blades up again to cut through more trees to make them a path to the river.

They extended out and retracted back into his body, as he tried to clear away as much of the burning trees as possible; cutting them so they would fall away from the group. The invisible lady and injured man were free from the fire as he followed them, but once noticing the others still trapped, he knew he had to help. Yet, in doing so, he made a small error in cutting down the trees. One of his blades cut the wrong way, making one of the trees fall atop of him instead. He noticed too late, and when trying to jump away, the tree smacked against his back, knocking him to the ground.

Thankfully, the tree's fire had mostly gone out, but the flames were sure to quickly surround the stranger, and he was trapped under it. He needed help.

--------------------------------------

The hunter, meanwhile, dove into the river; holstering his gun around his shoulders. The river was now deep enough for them to swim in, and following the current, started swimming downstream, even as the stream itself started to pick up speed the further downhill it became.

Seeing their savior in peril, the vampire surged forward as she sprinted to his aid. The rest would be fine on their own without her help, she doubted they would like her assistance anyway, she thought rather pessimistically as she arrived at the fallen tree. Working on pure adrenaline, she almost forgot her fear of fire. Almost

Vampires where she came from were weak to few things, mere blades could harm them but not lay them low, but everything holy and sacred certainly held a bite, and while not all water was holy, flames were inherently made for purification, and while she wasn't about to leave upon seeing an open flame, she made a note to keep her hands well away.

The vampire paused as she looked at the man with the purple energy, her eyes hesitant and afraid as she reached down towards a section of already charred wood, and pushed with all her might. It burned her hands from the heat, agonizing as she forced herself to keep the grip, but it was almost undoubtedly more painful for the man as she rolled the tree away. Hopefully he was more resilient than a mere person.

She bit down hard enough on her lip to make it bleed as she hefted the man onto her shoulders, and once again, continued running. She wanted to go home, back to safety and the bar. Emma had promised to keep her safe. How had she ended up in a place like this?

Lancer

Lancer stood amidst a circle of ashes and red hot metal when the flames he started subsided. His head faced the escaping group as they went past him. One of the ladies of said group gestured for him to follow. He stayed near the rear of the group, casually pacing to match their full sprints. As the fire started, he made his spear vanish and with flicks of his hands, he swatted away incoming bursts of flame that might otherwise have hit the group with his command over them.

One new person entered the fray in an attempt to aid one of the escapees, ending up trapped in the process. Seeing as they were almost at the river ahead, Lancer stopped and covered both from flames getting too close to them, once she put the man on her shoulders, he resumed his leisurely stroll. Unfortunately it was then that it dawned on him that someone had to burst through the wall of flaming flora to get to the river. The red and black haired young lady took it upon herself to do the job. Lancer cursed internally, he could've easily avoided that if he paid more attention.

Regardless, the whole group was now next to the river, where they met some other people escaping from the flaming inferno. Lancer quickly resumed his labor of herding the flames away from the group. It was then that he foresaw a potential ally in danger, two of them as a matter of fact. As the burning tree started to collapse on top of a peculiar yellow creature holding a human, Lancer leaped towards it at great speeds and kicked the tree hard enough to make it fly the opposite direction in pieces. Allowing for only some tiny chunks of it to actually fall as they intended. The moment he landed, he turned to the fiery forest and made a swift pushing motion, and the flames were pushed backwards momentarily. He allowed the group to continue making their way down stream, keeping a keen eye on the burning greenery in case he had to act again. He went back to herding the flames with small motions as the group went past him and he matched their pace from the very back.

"I didn't do anything!" Abby proclaims her innocence again, louder than maybe necessary.

"That ain't important right now! We got to get the hell outta here!" She hits him on the shoulders, then yells when Nolan arrives in the arms of something as gaudy as it is strange.

"The fuck are you?!" Abby demands but the heat of the fire prompts her to forget this newcomer for now. The helmet filters the smoke from her lungs, but aside from the alien thing it seems nobody else is as lucky.

"Come on! Follow the Bush Man!" Abby yells and abruptly heaves Alec onto her shoulders. Being shorter, this would seem impractical for her, but an adrenaline rush gives her the strength to heave Alec and run after the Bush Man.

Why was Alec still limping after a stim treatment and conventional first aid?

Question for later.

Meanwhile,

Vaudeville had leapt in the direction the Bush Man indicated, still holding Nolan close to her chest. The warning from Nolan was unnecessary, as the symbiote is aware of more than what it can see with it's two red eyes. The falling flaming tree is avoided easily by another mighty leap forward that clears the wider breadth of the river. Which renders them safe as the fire can't clear a river easily, but the others probably needed help. So Vaudeville sets Nolan down.

"Stand back. Going to save some more asses." Vaudeville makes a show of cracking her knuckles and neck. She turns around, sees the woman named Abby has managed to haul her boyfriend all this way, but she was losing steam and probably wouldn't be able to clear river.

Indeed Abby feels her body burning from exertion as the fire gains on them. The helmet filters out the smoke, but it could do nothing about the fact her body could not carry both of them much farther. Much less over that river.

What was the gold chick doing?

Suddenly, she's right in front of them, having leapt to them.

"Whoah!" Abby exclaims and nearly drops Alec, but does buckle under his weight.

"Give him to me." Vaudeville doesn't wait for permission, she grabs Alec and puts him over her right shoulder, then does the same for Abby over her left shoulder.

"Clench up lovebirds." She tells them before she leaps across the river with both of them seemingly without effort, landing with a dull THUD and bending down to let them both down.

Abby rolls off Vaudeville, landing on her ass and scooting back and away from her.

"Okay what the hell kinda alien are you?!" She asks, kind of freaked out.

"Not an alien! Well. Half. Or more. Know what not important, are you two okay?" Vaudeville asks them. Then looks back to see if the others need help.

Formerly in the arms of a symbiote lady.

Nolan once again held onto Vaudeville as she leapt, letting a yelp escape him once again during the brief time spent mid air before she landed, Nolan's shaky grip on her shoulders lessened as he was gently put down, his body unwillingly shaking as he watched her crack her knuckles and neck. Despite the sudden nature of everything and the fact Nolan didn't really know who the lady was, a part of Nolan kinda missed being held in that manner. A notion that was pushed back way back into his mind as it wasn't exactly great to be having amidst all this chaos. Especially as he stood up to await Vaudeville returning with Alec and Abby in tow.

The second the pair are dropped off by Vaudevilla, Nolan's right there to help Alec as best as he could considering the latter's injuries. And to hopefully quickly get the harsh words out of the way for his latest actions. He expected it from Alec but the thought of the others having less than kind words considering how close he considered them caused a coldness to envelope his chest, dread settling in as he immediately assumed worse case scenario.

Useless. Was among the words he could already hear, or one particularly nasty thought came to mind of them abandoning him or kicking him out and leaving him to die out here, or if he got sent back to his home and there'd be no one to save him from being dragged back into that place.

The thought of being chained up again, have things done to him and no hope of escaping made his eyes sting at the sheer horror of the idea that after he helped Alec as best as he could, Nolan moved away to stand along the riverbank and wrapped his arms around himself to try and provide some solace to push away the bad thoughts.

He hoped the others would get here so he'd know if the bad thoughts were not a premonition of what was to come.

Masureta
Location: Stuck in the middle of the river
~=========~-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------~=========~

It seemed everyone was eager to gather on the other edge of the river. A new stranger had emerged from the burning woods, tearing burning trees apart to save the group with strange purple blades. Vivi split off to save the man, hauling him onto her shoulders and making her way to the river. Meanwhile, the new person who held a spear used his expertise to also slice and bash away falling trees. Reta was honestly somewhat jealous of the man's skill and would need to find a way to ask him about his training methods later.

Reta finally made it to the river herself with her Impaler in hand. She had let go of the nervous man's hand while walking face-first into the flames and took a moment to glance back to see if he was still following. She was glad to see he didn't get stuck in the burning forest. Reta tried to mentally account for everyone she had seen in the group. Wasn't there a person wearing a plague doctor's mask, and what happened to the man who lept out of the bushes with the gun? She couldn't exactly run back through the woods to see where they had run off to, so she would just need to hope that they made it out safely. She shook the doubt out of her mind and began to walk into the river. The current wasn't strong, but it wasn't exactly weak either. She had only made it about halfway across when her whole body froze, and she was wracked with pain. The adrenaline of running had partially worn off, and now Reta started to feel the effects of running through the flaming woods. She nearly fell over into the river from the shock, but quickly planted her spear into the mud to stabilize herself. Reta tried to move forward but found it difficult to move from that point. Her face was scrunched up in pain, but she couldn't call out for any type of help.

Vivian Cain

The vampire had been holding up ok, all things considered. Her hands hurt still from where she'd touched the burning wood, but she'd been expecting a lot more backlash about lying to everyone's faces and more importantly being a vampire, but it seemed for the most nobody minded, thought that may be more because of everyone running for their lives. Honestly if her mother had been here, she'd have been proud of her for making some friends, despite the circumstances.

These were the thoughts that filled her mind before she heard the sound of rushing water, causing her stomach to begin coiling.

All that time honing herself to handle everything given to her with unflinchingly, and here it was to be wasted, before she could fulfill her aspirations. Dealing with constant hardships just to have it end after a freak incident.

Vivian considered herself to be hardy. She'd travelled through plains and survived on her own until she reached the city, and she'd dealt with being ostracized for being bitten without snapping a single time, but she couldn't help but feel a bubble of anger surge through her as life dealt the card that was to just rub her disease in her face that little bit more.

A river, too long to jump. Everyone else simply swam across, but the last time she'd even touched flowing water, the pain had been indescribable. It would be death to even try.

Considering her options, and the blaze making its way towards her, she felt the bubble of anger transform into a small, violent explosion as it sizzled through her. Trapped between her two weaknesses, all she needed now was a wooden stake hovering over her heart and she'd be meeting death with a chuckle.

And so, she did just that.

The vampire laughed, a long, furious, unnatural laugh, at her situation and how nonsensical it was for her to even be here. Perhaps she'd gone mad? It wasn't out of the question.

The laugh turned to a scream of outrage, like a child throwing a tantrum, placing her savior on the ground. "Someone needs to take him! I can't cross!" she called with a hysterical giggle, like she'd just said a joke as tears streaked her face. Maybe death wouldn't be the worst thing, it was just a shame it had to be something painful like burning alive.

Ziv had little issues wading through the river to the other side. Once across, being wet feeling rather nice after the heat of the fire coming after them, he turned back to make sure everyone was across. He was somewhat panicked to find Reta frozen halfway across for some reason, another woman and a man she carried with her as well as the hooded man not even attempt it yet. They didn't have a lot of time to get moving.

He glanced over as an alien of some sort dropped off several people, including Abby and Alec. He gave a small nod to himself at that. She could go back to get Reta then, at least, but the other three… The man leading them away continued swimming downstream rather than stop across the river, earning a small groan of annoyance. That's nice and all but he should be making sure everyone was together first. With that thought in mind he wasn't inclined to follow the man until everyone was across, even if that meant they fell behind.
——————————————————————
Voláre followed Reta obediently, looking up as a man called for them to follow. It seemed he wasn't going to leave them behind out of suspicion at least. He stopped at the river bank as they came to it, looking to Reta when she jumped on in and began to cross. He shivered, looking down at the water briefly. He hated the cold, and despite the fire's heat the river was no doubt cold…

The woman next to him began to laugh, the mag trembling at the somewhat disturbed sound. That laugh was off and sent a shiver through him. But there was something else. She screamed, which made him cower somewhat. She dropped the man she was carrying and insisted someone else take him, that she couldn't cross, making the mage tilt his head. She couldn't swim? He could swim, but he wasn't particularly strong despite what his height may make others think. He wouldn't be able to take the man across with him.

Besides. He didn't want to leave her behind either… He took a deep breath, giving a nod to himself as if resolution to his actions. It was either this or die, and he didn't want to die. With that settled, he opened his book and hovered his right hand over it. Soft muttered words escaped in a voice nearly imperceptible even to those near to him, the silver bracelet he wore and his tome both behave to glow. After only a few seconds, he gestured forward with an open hand and a burst of cold shot across the water, freezing it and creating a solid path for them to cross. The ice wasn't even smooth, which meant it wouldn't be all that slippery to walk across.

There was just one problem.

The heat from the fire would melt it fairly quickly. He turned to the woman as well as the injured man, closing his book and trading it for his staff. He repeated his actions for Ryder earlier in the night and cast a healing spell over the two. Once done and with a bright blush of embarrassment, he gave a small urging tug to the vampire's clothes. They needed to move. Now. He could only hope the ice bridge would help the girl stuck in the water too, but he couldn't do more than this for her regardless.

Vivian Cain

The vampire had her manic sobbing interrupted by another savior, their solution was laughably unexpected as they froze a pathway across what might as well have been lava. She gave them a tearful nod before reaching down to her unconscious package.

Wiping her eyes, she picked up her previous savior, now in another's debt for the second time, and ran across the bridge with remarkable ease, feeling conflicted on what now felt like an overreaction. She'd never expected anyone's help and here it seemed to be common place. Weren't they afraid of her? She could tear their throats out in a moment yet they weren't judging her about it.

It brought a strange comfort Vivian never knew she was missing. She wasn't sure if she could trust herself at times. Maybe they were just ignorant? Everyone was from different places after all, that much was apparent. Perhaps vampires weren't as big of a threat? Either way, guilt bit at her heart. She would tell them fully about the risks of her even being around, once she got the chance.

Lancer

Things started to look bad for the lead and the rear of the group. While the couple he gave a hand to earlier were stuck for some reason. The young, shy boy stepped up and offered a way to help. With that sorted out, Lancer focused his attention on the former lead of the group. She could barely stand. Lancer ran, dissapearing from sight to some, only to appear next to the injured woman. He gently picked her off her feet and carried her off bridal style, like he had seen the alien creature do. He started leaping forward, to the head of the group, wanting to keep the brave lady away from the heat as much as possible. While holding the lady close to his chest, he continued to attempt to push the fire away with just gestures of his fingers. "Young lady, are you able to speak? I can foresee safety soon, just resist a few more moments!" he told the woman in his arms.

Alec himself didn't know either why he was still hurting. But he finally could feel where the pain was coming from. Right under his knee on the side he landed on when he fell off the cliff. The pain wasn't noticeable at first, with his hip being the major issue. But then he realized it as Abby helped him.

"I think I tore my ACL." He told her as they ran as fast as they could past the flames. The tear must've gotten worse the more he put pressure on it from all the walking. And unless stimpacks were that good at fixing tears like that, and it was just taking longer than usual, he was fucked getting across. Thankfully though, their golden savior literally appeared in front of them. "AH!" He shouted along with Abby, her buckling making the pain worse, cause he had to put more weight down to keep himself from falling.

"Waitwaitwait--" He protests, but it's already too late. She grabs him and Abby, with ridiculous strength, because even without armor, Alec was a big buff dude, and she had him with not much effort. Like he was told, he clenched up in her grip, holding steady as she jumped. He was slow to roll off, standing on his good foot first. Abby might've been freaked out, but Alec, for a change of pace, was much more calm about things. "Honey, we're friends with a soul-collecting tree woman. This isn't the strangest thing we've encountered." He told her, before falling against the stilted ground with a small groan.

When asking if they were okay, "Nope. But that's for asking!" He had a positive inflection in his voice, and even gave a little thumbs up. The Hunter soon joined them, drenched, and a little annoyed as he saw even more people join them. Volare making their ice bridge and being joined by Vivi, Reta, Chum and Lancer, all making noise. "Hello!" Alec waved to the new people, "You on safari too? Our second time 'round!" He joked.

"C'mon! I've a place not too far from here, the river should be broad enough for the fire to stay on that side of the forest!" The Hunter shouted out. Though the fire was the least of their concerns now. Without even waiting, he was quick to charge up the hill, and it would take half an hour of walking to finally reach where he was leading them.

It was the hidden house in the trees the newbies had seen so far off from where they first landed on the beach. Now they had finally found who lived here. The hunter rushed up his ladder to the platforms above, running around to the treehouse to lower a crate big enough for a person to the ground for both Alec and Vivi's passed out savior. The inside was a sight to behold in terms of just comfort they had all been lacking the past day.

Along with some lamps the hunter began to light with a match, he also turned on very dim lights along the ceiling after he pulled the curtains down to block the windows. He then pushed the chairs aside to make room for Alec. "You can put him in the back room, there's a cot in there you can pull out and put him on." The place wasn't big, but it was at least roomy enough for everyone to fit.

Ryder Rowe
Standing in a treehouse

Having been talking to the Bat costumed dude before a sudden boom from the Corpo-Rats ammunition stockpile exploded from wildfire that had spread from an unknown source. Ryder was briefly separated from the group before he rejoined with them, he had lost track of his worthless heist pal but wasn't about to waste precious time in searching for the man when he had about fifty billion in credits in a duffle bag. Sure they were locked up as a safety feature due to them being from a casino, and more than likely he was going to lose a fair bit when he had to pay someone to jailbreak said credits and in conversion to proper currency.

Eventually they found themselves at a river, joining up with another group, watching a yellow skinned tall lady carrying a dude and jumping to the other side, then jumping back and picking up a injured man and a lady. The former looked handsome, and the latter he couldn't tell because of the helm. But he was sure she looked nice, though any flirtations to either would have be postponed as judging from the gal's efforts to drag her friend, he was sure they were an item.

The group once they made it over and rejoined in full, followed a shifty looking guy to what was a decent sized treehouse, everyone doing their own thing to relax.

First thing Ryder did was place his extremely valuable duffle bag on a chair, and taking off his helmet and brushing his white hair, his glowing synthetic eyes looking over the group inside the treehouse. The heat from the environment made him take off his leather jacket and reveal his cybernetic limbs as well as his various tattoos on the synthetic flesh he had. Anarchy symbols and random stuff adorning what his tank top didn't hide.

"Who do I have to suck off for a beer?" He joked as he would love nothing more than to have some sweet alcohol to relax.
