Zaheer

Coast ---> Fern Forest | "Pain is the straightforward teacher."

Zaheer prided himself on being one of the few people alive who could lie to others while keeping true to himself. So then, why was he 50 feet in the air trying to fight in an unfamiliar environment with giant, featherless birds of prey? His time in captivity in the basement of the white lotus clearly rusted his skills and his mind.

What was going though his head to think that, he an out of shape prisoner could defeat hungry otherworldly flying predators on their own turf? None of the old tricks were working, he couldn't make a gust strong enough to stop their giant beating wings, he couldn't redirect their flight and they certainly moved faster than him here above the tree line.

His condition was getting worse, narrowly dodging their bites but getting many cuts and bruises from their wings and talons. A solution had to found quickly, luckily the pain and the threat of death brought much needed clarity.

He was an air bender and air benders didn't have to take their problems head on.

As one of the juvenile of the birds who was getting cocky against the funny monkey the man would continue to bait it closer into the tree line, using the strongest twister he could muster to spin them both into the branches.

Unfortunately for the pterodactyl, it had quite a larger speed and a heavier body than the air bender, so smashing into a tree easily bent a few bones out of their sockets and skin, while merely making Zaheer use a bit more bending to float gently to the ground.

Seeing the previously proud creature, still not in it's prime with broken wings toiling on the ground aimlessly would only bring sadness to Zaheer. At least out of all the elements, air bending gave one of the calmest deaths, fittingly. Starting his dance he would slowly bend the air out of his lungs and disallow any from going in, he heard it was apparently like experiencing an euphoric high and then a black out. It was the only thing he could offer it.

In 5 minutes all chances of recovery would be over.

Ripping his sleeves he would tie it around the carcass of the pterodactyl, so it would be easier to carry, and then begin looking to join with the others of the party.

Keeping to below the tree tops he would make it to the swamp, seeing their raft pull into the fern forest.

Traversing the river was quicker for the air bender, albeit not easy considering the wounds and having to carry the pterodactyl with him. Landing though he would meet with the others.

"I am sorry for staying behind so long, at least I managed to get us some food for the night. I've got other goods news too, it seems that where this forest connects with the mountains we might find signs of human civilization."

Railakka Heikkinen, Finnish Skunkgirl Extraordinaire

"Perkele perkele perkele perkele!"

Railakka had been having a good week recently, her neighbor had moved away, she had gotten a new monitor, and the liquor store had a sale. But noooo, she wakes up to find herself in some swamp in the middle of nowhere, and face to face with a god damned dinosaur!

It was a good thing she had drunkenly grabbed her grandfather's rifle in her sleep as a bullet to the face scared off the scaly beast long enough for her to start running. And start running she had, so here she was, not sure if the lizard was even following her, but certainly not going to look back to find out. She was liable to trip or something and that'd be the end of her. Even so she wasn't exactly paying attention where she was going so when her foot sunk just a bit further than she was expecting into the soft ground and she fell forward into the muck it was really only her fault.

She pushed herself up out of the muck, spitting out mud and grass, looking down at her muddied clothes in dismay before freezing as she heard a hissing behind her. Slowly turning her head she looked dead into the eyes of a rather large snake and decided that it was clearly time to start running again.

Voláre wasn't sure what just happened. He was on his way home when suddenly he was blinded by a light. Within the blink of an eye his surroundings changed and he was lost. A sound caught his attention though and prompted him to turn to find the source. He let out a surprised squeak when he was practically bowled over by a woman running for her life. From what, he didn't know, but she was certainly not watching where she was going. Or maybe she just didn't care. Either way…

He turned to see what had her running and locked up. Oh no, it was massive! That was probably the biggest snake he has ever seen. He clutched onto his tome tightly and simply stared, wide eyed and frozen in place.

Samantha Nakamura

It was such a nice day today! Sam had murdered a serial killer on the run she had been following. Once she gleefully snapped his neck, in order to not be so wasteful, she dragged his maniacal ass all the way to her current hideout. It was meal time! She placed the corpse on a metal table, stripped him, and began to dig in. First, breaking open into his chest cavity for the main course. Eating the rather tasty heart of a rather evil man. As she continued to chomp away, she pondered on if she should go for some wine. The blood was a nice drink, sure, but some red wine sounded just fine right about now. She adjusted her mask and headed for some wine, sadly, she never got there. A flash of light blinded her, and she was swept off her feet. "Wh-"

"-at!?"
She attempted to finish. But the light was just the first of many shocks. She was now in the middle of what seemed a jungle, humid and thick in vegetation. She heard animal noises that sounded sort of like... Dinosaurs! Or at least what she imagined they would sounded like. It took her a few hours of exploration, but she figured some stuff out. She was now stranded in a land of dinosaurs, very moody ones. But the concerning fact was that there were no humans... She spent the next several days eating small fry, at least in comparison, beasts of all kinds most of the time, wanting to keep her superb shape for as long as possible, without recurring to her emergency stash. Not tasting human flesh for a while was starting to get to her.

One day, while having some raptors as a meal, her nose perked up, and so did she. Humans. Excited, she started to travel across trees towards the scent. Luckily, they were close enough. A human, and a beastkin of sorts, running from a snake. Well, one of them was. The human was frozen in fear, he stunk of it. So it was up to her to act, it seemed. She did a western-style quickdraw of Godfrey, shooting a round of concentrated acid straight into the snake's skull, going right through, and melting some of it on the way out. The large reptile went limp. Sam drew her acid revolver back, and started to walk towards the snake, drawing her knife. She partially knelt next to the corpse, quickly turned to the boy, and asked "You okay, boy?" While a reply was given, Sam methodically slit open the snake, cutting out the heart out of it, she clearly had done this plenty of times.

Abigail Delano/Courier Six- Character Sheet

"Easy, easy!" Abby catches Alec before he falls fully to the ground, groaning with the effort but managing to sit down and settle his head on her lap. Being armored it's not very comfortable, but it at least allows Alec to rest and for the two to have a little moment together. The Courier doesn't notice Nolan sketching them from afar; she takes off her pack and retrieves a couple stimpacks.

"Alrighty then. Looks like Nolan did an alright job, but these here stims ought to fix you just right." She bends down to kiss him on the nose. Then she gingerly moves his armor and clothing to expose a small section of his skin and with practiced ease finds a vein.

"Here we go." Abby unceremoniously grabs a stimpack and injects him with it. The cocktail of chemicals gets to work immediately to revitalize damaged flesh and bone.

Expecting an adverse reaction, Abby holds Alec tight and pulls out the syringe.

"Eeeeasy Al, that's just the stims workin their magic." She assures him calmly as he reacts. The intense tingle of the stims would subside in a minute, and with a short rest Alec will be able to walk unassisted with only a minor numbness to his hip that would also go away with time.

Nolan coming to them with his sketches is a pleasant surprise. At first she thinks he has some maps; she smiles at what he's really made for them.

"Wow Nolan. This some really good stuff! Thank you." Abby thanks Nolan excitedly looking at her sketch of Alec. She'd thought about getting some pictures taken next time they had some downtime, but these were something more special and personal. They were more fragile, but Abby would find a safe spot in her weathered old military pack for it.

Railakka Heikkinen
Railakka paused as she impacted something, but only for a moment before deciding that running from this crazy swamp was her best option. She only makes it a few more feet before hearing an odd click, like an empty gun being fired which is enough for her too look behind her only to watch someone fire a ball of acid out of a gun at the snake. Firstly, how the hell did they get acid into the gun without destroying it, secondly how the hell did they even fire it from the gun, that makes, absolutely no sense.

She also sees what she ran over and felt bad about running over what looks like another person, she can't tell what kind as there aren't any visible features but it was definitely not her intention to knock over the first sentient person she found and leave them to be eaten by a giant snake. The other person made her wary though, one the plague doctor get up, two the acid shooting gun, what if they were the reason she was there. They definitely looked suspicious as hell and she had played enough games to distrust anyone with that beaked mask.

Slowly she made her way back, rifle held loosely but at the ready calling out to them, "Who are you, where did you come from? Neither of you were here two seconds ago."

This is it. His fear froze him in place and now he's going to die. The last thing the mage thought would happen was a very strange and somewhat frighteningly dressed person would come to his aid. Whatever weapon she used and whatever came out of it was enough to drop the snake, and Voláre simply watched with wide eyes as she went to carve the corpse. All he could do was nod to the question of his well being, though given her attention being occupied Sam probably didn't see it.

He started again when another voice called out, turning to see the person that was running earlier and had knocked him down. She came back. His brows creased though at her questions. He couldn't answer them, at least not too consistently. All he could do was look down at the ground and shake his head lightly. There was more to this that bothered him though. The weapons these two were using… he's never seen anything like it before. If the long one the muddy girl was carrying was anything like the one who saved him used, he didn't want to be on the receiving and of either of them.

Samantha Nakamura

Upon extirpating the heart of the snake successfully, Sam flicked the blood off her knife and sheathed it. Now in front of her, were two humans, or one and a half actually. Regardless, her urge for their flesh popped back into her mind. Trying her best to keep it under control, she turned to the demi-human. As she pulled down the membrane that covered her neck, barely revealing her mouth filled with sharp fangs "I was a couple hundred meters that way." She said as she pointed out towards her previous resting spot "I'm Samuel..." she casually lied, then sighing, she added "Yeah, I kind of reacted the same when I was dragged here. Green light, slight fall, jungle with dinos... I take it that's what just happened to you, yes?"

While the girl answered, Sam popped the heart of the snake into her mouth, and covered it again. Feeling some unseen relief, even if it was not a human heart, it was a nice treat. She still had her emergency supply intact somehow, but now that humans were around, that may no longer be the case. As she finished chewing, she took a step forward, gauging reactions to what she just did and asked the pair "As you may have already noticed, it's not quite the safest place to be thrown into, so shall we get moving?"

Railakka Heikkinen
Railakka nodded slightly to the question, she had been sleeping at the time so the green light wasn't familiar, but waking up falling into a jungle, she definitely remembered that. She watched Samuel eat the heart, taking note of the teeth, which she normally would have pegged as wolf, but there was no tail or ears, it's possible both were hidden or even missing so she was comfortable with that. She looked at the young but tall looking white haired person, standing mute with wide eyes. Probably an owl or some other kind of bird.

At the second question asked she simply shrugs saying, "Unless you know of a safe place I'm not sure anywhere here is, but moving sounds like a good idea before whatever was chasing me before the snake catches up."

Location: setting up camp in the fern forest

The group had barely managed to get off the raft and onto dry land when Zaheer arrived. His entrance was surprising as he descended from the sky amidst the group. Apparently, he had captured one of the birds that was attacking the group earlier. Reta gave the man a small wave and a thumbs up after his words as she went to assist Vivi with getting off the raft. Reta's limp had gotten better since the attack, but she still winced after each step. She still hasn't chosen to use another regeneration to fully top off the damage, deciding that it would be best to do before she fell asleep.

Since she had gotten better, reta went about helping create a small fire for the group to gather around and for zaheer to cook the dino on. She hadn't quite perfected louis' fire abilities, so she set about using a good old fashioned bow drill. Hopefully the rest of the group would be able to make a shelter for them all to rest in, or at least gather some leaves to sleep on.

Reta was very focused on her task but immediately became alert when she heard a loud bang in the forest. That definitely wasn't a dinosaur, and was most likely human. That was when reta remembered the pistol holstered on her leg, quickly taking it out and pointing it into the darkness. She turned back to the group with a questioning look.

CAVE:

Even though it was uncomfortable, Alec was just happy to not be moving. He smiled back from her kiss on the nose, commenting, "What would I do without you-- AH!" He then yelled out upon her removing his greaves. "Datatata!" He pushed her hands away to do it himself, unclamping the greaves along his hip. "There you go." She was still clumsy in those braces of hers. Of course, the pain from just her trying to remove his armor was nothing compared to the stimpack itself. He braced himself for the needle, taking a long breath, and once it went in, Alec tensed up. Although, the pain wasn't as bad as he expected.

"Oh." He commented, looking down at the stimpack. "That wasn't so BaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" He shouted, leaning upwards, only for Abby to hold him back down. It was weird, it felt like being awake for bone surgery, yet it also tickled immensely. That's what made it feel unbearable. "FUUUUUUUUUuuuuuuuckin'... Jesus H Christ, what the fuck... I'm not gonna get HIV from that, right?" Got only knows how often she cleans them.

Whether it was the morpheme, or the pain, or the stimpack, or even the concussion he probably had, or just as likely all five combined, he felt extremely light headed. Like he hadn't eaten in five days. Slowly, he dazed off, just as Nolan handed Abby his drawing. He mumbled, "wha' did... he.... make........ zzzzzzzzzzzzz"

And he was out. With that, night time had finally settled in, as the forest became pitch black. The sounds of night time creatures, whether birds or bugs, filled the air with chirping and squeaking. There was no moon in the sky, or any stars to see, just the purest black any of them had ever seen.

FOREST:

While within the forest, the gunshot the new arrivals heard in unison echoed from within the forest, not too far away from where they were all located. Another gunshot would then go off, as the sound of an animal crying out in pain then swiftly followed. It was loud, like it was shouting out for others to hear. If they all followed where the cry's came from, a third gunshot rang out, ending them. Lights could then be seen through the heavy tree brush. Flashlights and spotlights.

"Was that necessary?" A distorted voice spoke up.

"It's a dino! When am I ever gonna kill one?" Another distorted voice said back. There was a large clearing from where the lights came from, and a massive group of soldiers manning its perimeter.

12ece657e7048ed05915c9d0a0b9a837.jpg

The two soldiers speaking were next to a Parasaurolophus, shot twice in the neck as it struggled to breath against the ground. "Never if you can't actually kill it." The other soldier commented, before his buddy unloaded the rest of his magazine into the creature's body.

"There, you happy?" He asked, reloading.

The soldier just laughed. "Well I am now. Perimeter secure!" He shouted to the other soldiers, which looked to be setting up camp. "I want five men keep watching hourly and rotating shifts. Any sign of something you can't kill yourself, do not wait. Alert the camp, and mount up defensive positions. You don't wanna end up a T-Rex's late night snack out here." There was at least a dozen roaming around the opening with weapons, with another dozen setting up campfires and tents.

Ryder Rowe
Landing in a Jungle at night

Ryder was swerving all over the road to avoid crashing into another car, light pole or be rammed off the road by the CorpCops, his modified van's armor taking bullets left and right. Money well spent as the bulletproof glass didn't even scratch, the armor on the van itself just had dents from where bullets landed. But at this rate, the armor would begin to fail as shots would eventually hit the same spot and break the armor.

As music blared inside the van, a habit that Ryder used to get into the groove as it were, the music was both meant to serve as white-noise to drown out the pained groans of his 'friend' in the back who was injured and missing a limb. But to also calm his nerves after the shitshow that was the heist.

Not that it failed. Far from it. He had arrived at the loading dock where they had bribed the guards to be distracted by something else for an hour or so, the leader of this merry mission was Rick. Who with a fellow Netrunner, Amelia made quick work of alarms, and allowed the group to take side paths away from the prying eyes of the public and cameras that couldn't be hacked. Ryder meanwhile stayed in the van and waited for them to be done. A safecracker known as Albert allowed them to get in without tripping the alarm and failsafe, and with the aid of a bumbling Limi, known as Kevin. They got a good chunk of their loot, close the vault door and not trigger the other failsafe by doing so.

This was witnessed by Ryder via a wireless feed in some goggles he had. Just so he wouldn't be caught off guard. As they exited, he dropped the goggles, put his helmet back on and pressed a button to open the side door for them to climb on in and he'd drive them away with their payday.

That was the plan.

Unfortunately, it didn't go well towards the end. As Ryder buckled in, he saw Rick be split in two by a drone that dropped out of the sky, firing slugs the size of Monster Cans, poor Amelia having her skull fry to the point flesh bubbled to the point that the electronics that wrapped around her head was visible and on fire. Albert was gunned down by CorpCops that popped around the corner, and if it wasn't for Ryder's van and windows being armored, he would've joined Albert in being riddled with bullets. Kevin though barely dodged the drone's slug-barrage, only losing his right arm as he ran towards the van, throwing the duffle bag with the take into the van as he too dove inside. The door automatically closed, The Spring-Talk local cursed in said native tongue of Spring-Talk which was mostly gibberish or bastardization of other words.

"Those peedling bastards! How the fuck did they know we were on the mays?!" He called to Ryder, but the cyborg wasn't paying much attention if at all. Ryder was more concerned with other things. Namely, how in the everloving fuck were they gonna get outta this. As while the van's engine was modified to be among the best, taken straight from a muscle car on steroids. He wouldn't outrun these Corp-Rats forever, and the armor could only take so much before failing. And while Ryder was a devil behind the wheel, he wouldn't admit this unless forced. But he wasn't exactly the best at shooting, much less while driving and at an awkward angle. If the rest of the team weren't dead, maybe the situation wouldn't be so dire. But he only had Kevin, but right now he was sure the older man was holding a Suction-Top to the stump that was now one of his arms as to stop himself from bleeding out.

They'd need a miracle to get out of this.

And as if something was listening to his wordless prayers, a green flash filled the dash, blinding Ryder. When his vision returned, the sunny noon cityscape they were speeding through was now replaced by an insanely dark jungle, the only thing he could see was thanks to the headlights, which illuminated what appeared to be a lizard dog of some sort with a cobra hood hissing at the rapidly approaching vehicle that came out of nowhere. And just behind it was a tree, and since the van had appeared so suddenly and still kept its momentum, it slammed into the creature and the tree behind it. Splattering it over said tree and covering Ryder's windshield in gore and a purplish liquid from the creature.

Since the van was now stuck, as when Ryder tried to reverse, the engine simply sputtered. The wheels not even moving, caused Ryder to lose his cool. "Fuck, fuck, fuck, FUCK!" Slamming his cybernetic hand on the dash, fists clenched made the leather glove make a noise out of protest. Turning off the engine, he climbed into the back to receive a comment from his passenger.

"What did ya do, ya Blim? Some Lica show ya her pieces?" Kevin said, before wincing in pain.

"Lemme get that vest off, then you can continue bitching like a Suit. " Ryder quipped before he grabbed a medkit and went about treating the man. Kevin had taken a round to the chest, thankfully not lethal as the armored vest he wore prevented the round from going any deeper. But the round still had energy. As evident when Ryder found the round still in the vest, and poking through ever so slightly. That'd explain Kevin's chest pain, he most likely had either a broken rib or at best case, a cracked one. Grabbing a syringe filled with a serum. Dubbed "Pro-Bone-O" By the Doctor who invented it, it was a simple serum that healed bones or at least helped them along in the process. Kevin made a comment, before and after the injection. As the process was still painful despite the painkiller in his system.

With that done, Ryder went about gathering his personal effects into a backpack, as he was gonna have to abandon the van, at least until he could come back to get it later. This included: His laptop with his music and music making program, his Virtu-Gloves that he used with said programs to make his music. He grabbed his pistol and SMG, holstering the former in a holster in his jacket, and the other in a sling. The main reason being he put on the duffle bag filled with their loot from the heist as no way in hell was he gonna leave that behind.

So he needed a hand free as he was gonna be carrying Kevin's sorry ass around. Such as now when he helped the man up and out the side door. Ryder's modified helmet not only served as headphones for his music from his personal device that held music from other artist that also served as a phone, it allowed his ears to not be muffled as the cybernetics connected with it to allow him to hear without issue. The helmet was armored and could take a round or two. So Ryder kept it on just in case. He locked the van up, the lights turning off which blanked them in complete darkness.

His free hand was using to hold a flashlight so they could see in the dark jungle. The other was under Kevin's arm to help the man along. Whom made some protests until they heard strange noises from the jungle, of creatures unseen. This promptly shut Kevin up while putting the pair on edge. As eventually they'd see light, not one of a natural source. But one of floodlights and other manmade sources. Turning off his flashlight, Ryder was about to call out when the gunshot rang out and the voice called out. This made Ryder stop and change course. Kevin quietly cursing. Staying low behind bushes that separated them and the light, Ryder and Kevin heard about a 'T-Rex' which made Kevin whisper to Ryder.

"What the fuck are they talking about?" All Ryder could do was shrug his shoulders, this situation stunk bad. What if this was some Corpo shit, what if that Green Flash was some tech that sent them to some shithole for the CorpCops from earlier to sweep in and kill them out of the public's eye? Glimpses through the bushes showed that these were men dressed in gear befitting that of a Corp-Rat.

Rather than continue forward, Ryder moved in a different direction, which led them to stumble upon a strange sight. Three people, each strange in their own right, save for maybe one. The first being a girl with a tail that was currently holding a rifle, the second being a creepy person in a spooky white bird mask, and the last being a rather plain looking person. That considering how strange the other two were, made the person just as weird.

Putting a finger to his helmet to signal a 'shoosh' as they didn't want to make too much noise. Ryder said to them in a quiet voice. "Don't talk too loud, my friend and I have no idea what's going on. He's injured and I really don't want to piss off or get the attention of those guys over there." He casted a look to where the lights were. Hoping shit would not hit the fan.

Nolan
Near cave entrance on first watch

Despite wearing a face covering and goggles, Nolan smiled at the positive reception regarding his sketch, at least on Abby's part. Poor Alec passed out from the ordeal of today, sent to sleep by the meds no doubt. Without wasting a moment, Nolan said to the group as night started to fall. "I'll take f-first watch. You guys get some rest." He got up, walking to the entrance, his crank flashlight in hand.

Taking a seat just a foot outside the entrance, Nolan began his first watch looking at the tree line and surrounding area. Rifle sitting ready and primed in his lap as he used the flashlight to see in the darkness. Waving the beam along the tree line and the surrounding area, his motions steady and regular, he'd turn off the flashlight to save battery,

Turning it back on to do another survey of the area, using that photographic memory to good use to spot if anything was out of place. The only time Nolan ever seen a night this dark was way back home when he first encountered a Sanguine hunting party. It was just as dark as this night, the only light source was flickering lights of fallen lamp posts, which illuminated the figures of a team of monsters and beings that were sent out to capture or kill humans like Nolan.

He still remembers having to duck through and abandoned apartment building, his footsteps a mere whisper compared to the thumping of the footpads of the werewolf on his trail, barely closing and barricading the door in time to stop said werewolf, hearing as it punched and clawed at the door sending splinters onto the floor as Nolan climbed into the vents to get to another area in the apartment, narrowly avoiding being dragged out of the vent by a Ghoul. And barely having enough time to pepper-spray the vampire as it dove onto him as he dropped from the vent.

He only escaped because he fell into a river after running out of the apartment, the water carrying away from the beasts that nearly got him on his first encounter with them.

Before Nolan could fall back into memory lane, he remembered his task and resumed his flashlight-patrol. Hearing distant noises of creatures unseen, his grip on the rifle tightening as he kinda backed up to a different spot, closer to the entrance so he wasn't exposed.

Vivian Cain - Swamp

Vivian Cain was very much startled by the sound of something very loud nearby. The only comparison she could draw it to would be to like a cannon of some sort, and while she found it somewhat intimidating, it was clearly not one of the dinosaurs, with the sounds of distant voices confirming her thoughts of something she could at least talk to, presumably more people that had just washed up there like she had.

"Ah.. I'll.. Go say hi I guess, maybe bring them back to see if we need to make another raft if there's a bunch." she said before setting off away from the group, waving behind her to the trio as she navigated through the forest through a mixture of what little light she could see through the blindfold, and touch.

As she got out of sight of the group, Vivian wasted no time in raising up her blindfold and moving through the forest at a much faster rate until she grew nearer to the voices, and by extension was able to track their pulses, once again pulling it down as she bobbed around a tree.

"Aha! Hello." she'd say in that telltale tone of forced light-heartedness, practiced over years of bartending, "Are you guys alright? Also wind up here like me?"

Reta only began to realize that the sound she heard was a gunshot when Vivian suddenly ran into the forest after the noise. Reta would've warned Vivian by calling out, but she couldn't, instead, she raised her hand to Vivian as she ran off. She then quickly holstered the pistol and looked back to the group. She didn't know what to do, but she couldn't let the blind girl run off towards gunshots. Reta couldn't waste time, so she sprinted off to follow vivian. The group still standing in camp would hear an audible heartbeat, the sound of reta's regeneration, radiate from her as she followed Vivi. She had regained her regenerations on the raft, so she could use one to heal her leg for an emergency. Reta would've otherwise done it before bed, but she needed a healed leg to catch up to the girl.

For some reason that wasn't enough. How could the blind girl move so fast without running into trees? Reta almost ran into a few trees herself as it began to turn dark. She soon slid into a nearby bush a little behind Vivi, unsure if she should reveal herself and make the situation worse for the girl or not. She was out of breath from running, and she was prepared to either use her gun or spear in case things went badly.

The man shouting orders turned around quickly to see who was speaking. The female voice immediately gave away it wasn't one of them. He and the other soldier turned their flashlights to her, getting a clear view of who she was. She was blind-folded, covered in dried mud, clothes tattered, and obviously was a 'liability.' They came here to kill people like her.

But, as the other soldier slowly began reaching for his holstered pistol, the commander snapped his fingers at him instead, shaking his head once he had his attention. "Hello there!" He shouted back, approaching Vivian. They could have some fun with her. They didn't need to kill her right now. "We're fine, thanks for asking! Just dealing with one of these nasty creatures is all." He explained, stopping ten feet from her. "And yeah, we also just... came here from out of nowhere... What about you? You alright? You're not blind-folded 'cause you're nervous, are you?"

Vivian Cain - forest

Vivian was glad to hear a friendly voice, and was eased slightly more as she noticed another heartbeat sidle into place somewhere behind her, presumably one of the group had followed her, which she hadn't exactly planned for. She'd intended to grab something to eat while she was away but that plan seemed to have gone out of the window.

"Ah, hope it wasn't those flying things, absolute nightmare." she chuckled light-heartedly before continuing "I'm doing alright, washed up on the beach not far from here and was preparing to head across a swamp when I heard gunshots. As for the blindfold.. Well, uh.. Let's just call it a special condition."

Thinking on the size of the group as it was, she wasn't entirely sure if she wanted to invite these two to tag along considering how well-armed they apparently were, it would definitely make them need another raft at least. "Well, I'm going to keep on searching for some way back, as I'm sure you people are going to as well. Best of luck! I'll.. probably be heading somewhere across the swamp if you find it."

Chum was thinking about the problem at hand. If all the local beasties were as hungry as the flameless drakelings at the beach or as large as the... Er. Giraffe? Chum had never seen a Giraffe, but they were described as having 'necks as long as towers were tall' and... Well, it was definitely an exaggeration, but the closest thing the goblin could place to the beast. Well, she'd already put a little thought to it. But with no caves or mountains within walking distance, their best bet was up a tree, preferably one with branches already sharp or bramble-laden, or if not then at least a sturdy one they could fortify with sharpened sticks. Something stopped Chum's train of thought like a wall of stone.

BANG

The Giff? Here?

BABABABANG

A GIFF BATTALION? Shitshitshit there wasn't a way to win this, Chum went to ground in a bush, hastily smearing her armor and garments with mud, hoping to mask color and scent... Until the blindfolded one ran towards the sound. The Goblin had cursed her conscience at least once today, and now a great deal more curses swirled in her head as she ran to follow. She was shocked to see only two figures standing over a dead beast, humanoid and armor-clad, wielding... Well, they were shaped a fair bit like a Giff's flintlock rifle, but they were very different. She only barely caught one roughly shoving that weird curved part into the bottom and pulling back on some small handle. It was ready to fire again? Flintlocks took ages to load from shot to shot. In her eyes, a Bow's swiftness would've bested it easily. With these new rifle-like weapons, Chum had no idea. If there were still an army she'd yet to notice, this was absolutely unwinnable. But if all that gunfire came from only two of these strange, sleek weapons...

Chum's thoughts caught up to reality as one went for a pistol. Again, sleeker than the Giff's by far, but unmistakably a 'side-arm'. His ally cautioned him away from it and they rounded on the blindfolded one. But the holster, regardless, was snapped open. The men's posture, their voices. The same veiled cruelty Black Fang so often used to give naval officers one last shred of hope... Before ending them with the cruelest fate he could imagine at the moment. Chum's time was sharply limited, so she skulked across the forest floor, each footstep placed with care and quiet. Then, behind the more careless of the two, she approached. Slowly. Carefully. Quiet until she was so close, she could smell some funky cologne. Aftershave? Whatever it was, she was close enough. Her small fingers wrapped around the relatively large handle, she pulled away a foot or two, and there was a loud 'click' as she pulled back the 'hammer', just as she'd seen the Giff do. Funny, Vivian was talking peaceably to them... Was she Naive as she was Blind?... Well, maybe she wasn't.

"Couldn't see me any more than she saw you for what you were... Dunno if you prefer 'Pirate', 'Raider', 'Mercenary' or what, but I see your stance, hear the venom. Your rifles and pistols drop to the grass, or your blood does."

Said the goblin, holding the pistol somewhat awkwardly, with little in the way of trigger discipline or experience... But that only made her more dangerous, in this particular situation.

Deep Woods

Hunting was one of her favorite pastimes.

Creeping through the forest, stalking whatever oblivious herbivore that just so happened to graze at the wrong moment in the wrong place. Her camouflage made blending in ridiculously easy, enough so that she had managed to bring down several kills a day, though the scent of blood often drew other predators near, so she tried avoiding that whenever she could.

Stalking these... Intruders held a similar thrill, yet one with an underlying feeling of dread that pooled in her gut. It was the smell, artificial blended with organic, and it disturbed her. Something her Beta seemed to pick up on quite quickly.

The black female gave her a questioning look, trilling softly as she pressed against her side. Several gruesome scars adorned her body, a token from a cannibalistic pack of Raptors that had attacked her, pinning her down as their claws dug deeply into her flesh. It was only through her intervention had the female survived, killing one of them before driving off the rest with a thunderous roar.

She had been her first member of the Pack, with two more joining shortly after. From there, it had only grown - Even to the point where hatchlings had been born and raised into young adults.

Now, these... trespassers would undo everything, drag her back to whatever nightmare that was her early life.

She would not let that happen, never again.

Batman - Forest

It was an absolute shock to see these people's instinct to hearing gunfire in the middle of a vast prehistoric jungle was to check it out. There wasn't even a moment to stop or warn them about how much risk there was in such an action.

After releasing the dinosaur he'd caught previously and ushering the scared creature to run, Batman leaped into the bushes and started climbing the trees to obtain a superior vantage point.

He'd gained sight of the situation just as he saw Chum stealing a handgun from one of a pair of soldiers and started threatening them.

There was a dead herbivorous species near them, a parasaurolophus if Batman's memory of his paleontology lessons wasn't rusty. He'd never have imagined when starting his career, that knowledge of dinosaurs would come to be useful of all things.

Probably not official soldiers. There'd be other ways to deal with wildlife.

He dropped from tropical Cyprus swiping his cape to the sides to extend his fall in a glide and then landed softly - with barely a thud of boots - right behind the other soldier. In a manner similar to Chum, but with clear alacrity, he took the man's handgun and gently pressed the barrel at a spot unprotected by his armor. "Hands up, weapons down," Batman whispered. "And be quiet. If I see you act without prompting, I won't hesitate."
