The Escape

Rina ran at the robot, who in turn shot at her. She avoided some while others hit her but that didn't slow her down. She zoomed straight at it, since that's all the room she had to move at it. She jumped at it, moving her arm to block some bullets with the katana like blade. She still got hit with a few bullets but they didn't bother her much. Forcing the blade into the chainsaw's cut, she pushed the blade in and through it. It plunged rather deep, hitting wires and if lucky the power core of the robot. She yelped from electricity that raged from the robot to her. She made a conductor quickly on her arm which absorbed the electricity into less harmful volts. Rina got away from the robot and stumbled from the amount of electricity that did get her.

"That was a shocking experience!" She laughed, body trembling as she wander towards Ante. "Wasn't that shocking?!" She called to him, as she fell to her knees. There she still didn't stop her moving, crawling towards Ante.

Aryn stood up carefully-still a little weak- and followed Julianne down the hallway. His mind held the mental ache that came from using his powers for too long, or for something that required a great deal of energy to preform, like buring poision out of someone's system. he rubbed his temple with his right hand, and he sighed when he saw Rina, trembling as she made her way towards Ante on her knees. He cast his eyes to the other side of the hallway, where a robot lay smoking on the floor. She would be fine in a few minutes, he assumed, as her arm had turned into what looked like a conductor.

"Ante," he called. "Pick her up until she stops shaking. We've got to keep moving." He looked at Julianne and despite his headache, read her concern. "I'll be fine," he told her reassuringly. "I can't risk getting caught."

Dark was focusing on holding down the guards but as soon ashe realized they were having some sort of problem behind him he glanced back only to lose concentration. He quickly pushed whoever was still in the hallway around the corner as a round of bullets came flying past them and slamming into the wall. He sighed realizing if he waited even a second more he would have been lit up and killed. This was proving to be much more difficult than the first time... then again he wasn't exactly leading that escape, or knew how they escaped efrom the inside ither. He was already out by that time, regardless, they were almost out. Mainly due to luck. He picked Rina up and started to run "Hurry up." He called back to the others. He rounded the corner and found the last wall until they were out of this facility. "Hurry." He called out again.<o:p></o:p>

Quickly getting to the last wall, now having adrenaline pumping threw him he blasted a hole threw the 2 inch steel plates and the 4 foot of concrete. He would have been tired, maybe even ending with him unconscious, but with the adrenaline he was able to jump out and land a story below on the ground. "Jump, I will catch you if you need it."<o:p></o:p>

Julianne ran after Dark but stopped in her tracks when she came to the large hole. She knew that this was no time to stop and look at how far she needed to jump to land but she couldn't help it. She glanced behind herself and saw the guards who were now pouring into the hallway now that Dark was no longer stopping them. She looked back in front of her and swallowed nervously then leaped out of the chunk of wall which was blasted off, squeezing her eyes shut once her feet left the ground. She now learned something else about herself: she doesn't like heights. That was going to come back and bite her in the butt later, she knew that.

Aryn was a few steps behind Julianne and watched her jump; he didn't hesitate to follow her. His wings opened automatically, and he felt a rush of fear as he flew over his companions' heads. He was flying, and it scared him enough that he dropped to the ground from a height of ten feet, five feet away from Dark, Risa, and Julianne. He stood, slightly bruised but otherwise okay, and jogged over to where they stood. "Where is everyone else?" he wondered aloud, still unable to reach out with his mind. He could hear people shouting, and he knew it wouldn't be long before they would come after them.

Dark still had Rina in his arms as he started to run again "Hurry up." He shouted "We need to make some distance before nightfall." He ran as fast as he could, which would have been much faster than the others without him having to carry Rina. He was in better shape than most of them considering he had almost an entire year of no abuse not to long ago when at the same time they were still being whipped and half starved. He ran until his adrenaline started to wear off and at that point he set Rina down now panting heavily. He had worn himself out between using his powers so much all of a sudden when he wasn't able to use it at all and from running with Rina on his shoulder for almost an hour. "We should be a couple of miles away from the building." He said still trying to catch his breath. "We have almost a weeks travel ahead of us if we run and face no difficulty's. I'm expecting we get there in a month." He leaned back on a tree hiding in the shade of the forest to gain some energy. It didn't help much but it was better than nothing.

Julianne hit the ground at a roll and popped back up onto her feet at a run. She had a couple scrapes from the fall but she could still run, the injuries only stinging slightly as the wind it them. She ran after Dark but couldn't seem to catch up to him until he finally stopped. She was panting heavily, unused to this much physical activity- especially running. Once Dark stopped and leaned against a nearby tree in the shade, she dropped down onto the grass but stayed in full sunlight. She looked to Dark curiously, "Where… where are we going?" She asked, still panting from the long run.

"I mentioned my friends before. They are going to be waiting for us at the river I had left them at. They said they would come back every day until my 18th birthday, by then I would have been killed." He said still trying to catch his breath. "They should have the dream house by now, nothing big or fancy but a nice cottage..." He cut himself off realizing she would never be able to understand what he was describing. He pulled out a small cut out picture from his pocket. It had once been in a magazine he swiped off the guards before the first time he escaped, it was a bit faded now and some of it was ripped off but she could still get the general idea from it. The picture was of an old cottage in a large field, it had a dog sitting on the porch and a cat in a girls lap, and a smiled bunch of friends sitting no a bench. To the far right was an old warn down barn, to most this was just another piece of junk house but to him it was paradise... then again everyone here could most likely agree that it was better than the hell hold they had just gotten out of.

Julianne moved closer to him so she could see the picture he was holding out. It took her a second to make out what it was of but she could see it- the cottage, barn and the large field it was in. A smile grew on her face, "It's so beautiful…" She murmured, her eyes wide. She knew very little, if anything, about this world- the world outside of the lab- but that place looked perfect. It seemed to peaceful and friendly… and warm. She over to Dark hopefully, "And we get to live there?" She asked, amazed by the simple fact that this place, this haven, could be a place for them to actually belong for once.

"Not this exact one but one really close to it." He said putting the faded picture back in his pocket. "Something that looks like it but maybe has some differences. It sure would be nice to get it though, anything like that would be fine." He stood up "We should move again, just another mile before it gets dark, maybe find a cave or something." He said yawning, he was tired from everything but that wouldn't stop him. "Rin, are you awake?" He said nudging her arm half expecting it to be cut off. "You have to wake now now Rin." He said as if trying to convince her that she was awake more than telling her to wake up. If she was going to be asleep or unconscious he would just carry her again, really not a big deal.

Aryn was silent as he ran with them, listening for anyone else who would be coming. Most likely, the rest of the group had either stayed back to hold off the guards or had been captured again. They also could've gone off on their own, he thought. He could see the picture in Dark's hand, and he felt a smile tug at the corner of his lips. No more of being trapped in a cell, experimented on, drugged or beaten. He was free. He looked at Dark and said, "Wouldn't they be looking for us in places like that? I don't know about you, but it's oddly quiet." He kneeled down beside Risa and placed a hand on her forehead, his hand glowing briefly. "She'll be okay," he said. "She's just exhausted herself." He extended his mind fully, searching for any human thoughts in the woods around them or any animals that had been scared off by something foreign to them. There was nothing, and that made him nervous and wary.

Rina yawned, not even realizing she passed out. "Where are we?" She asked the others, stretching her arms over her head. "And where is Ante?" She asks quickly since seeing him was all she remembered. She was surprised to see that they got out of the building. "Are we out? How long was I out?" She looked around in a rare awe facial expression.

Ante had run with the group, following after Rina as Dark ran with her. Once outside, he looked up to see the sky for the first time. Ante grew very quiet, staying nearby Rina and Dark. He was unsure of everything around him, it was all so different. He got lost in his speculation for a while, until he heard his name. He walked over and looked at Rina curiously. "Hi, you took a nap." He tilted his head. "You getting up now?" He asked, poking her shoulder. "We're in a big room, the ceiling is very strange and it smells funny." He looked around. "A really big room... I can't even see the walls.." He spaced out a bit, staring off into the distance.

"He is right over there and yes we got out." Dark said with a smile as he gave er a hand to help her up, she didn't need help but he needed everyone to know their lives rested in each others hands. This was his first act to show it. "We are out of the rooms. There is no sealing or walls. It all goes on forever." Dark said to ante with a growing smile as he started to walk. The sun was starting to set and befor long it would be dark "We should find a place to rest." he said "A cave or something we can hide the fire in." He started to look around and just as he was about to give up on the idea he found one hidden below some brush. It was almost a straight drop down but they could climb the couple feet... some of them could even jump, fly or hover down. He jumped and used his dark blast to hover "Let's go."

Aryn grimaced and followed Dark, flying upwards with his wings just barely, feeling a chill of fear seeing the ground farther below him as he flew over the cliff. He landed inside and extended his thoughts, searching for any large animals that had already laid claim to the cave. He found nothing but bats farther into the cage, which would leave them alone as long as no one disturbed them. He walked to the edge and watched Dark descend for a moment, then launched himself into the air, determined to not let his fear overcome him. He felt slightly sick as he flew higher up, surveying the land quickly for anything that didn't belong, simultaneously extending his mind to search for humans. He found nothing, and flew down to beside Julianne. He smiled at her and said, "You want me to fly you down?"

"Actually Ante, I wanted to sleep right here for the rest of my life." She said sarcastically, shaking her head at him with a small smile at how naive he could be. Rina took the helping hand up but took a few steps away when she got to her feet. "Thanks." She grumbled. She walked to the edge of the drop off and stared down it. "Climb down that?" She questioned to no one and sighed. "Ante are you going to climb down as well?" She asked him.

Julianne waked over to the cliff and looked down it nervously. 'Great, more heights...' She thought sadly. She was barely paying attention to around her so she jumped slightly when Aryn suddenly talked to her. She looked over to him and bit her lip nervously. "Oh, um..." She glanced back at the cliff, she really did not want to jump that... "Could you?" She asked shyly and offered him a small smile.

Natalia had run the whole way with the group, but she was exhausted now. She still hadn't fully recovered and the natural warmth of the air was already starting to get to her. She made the air colder around her, but even then it didn't help much. She watched as Dark jumped down into the thick blackness of the cave he had found. She sighed, concentrating and making a walkway made out of ice down to the bottom. She jumped onto it, sliding down with ease and landing somewhat gracefully on her feet when she reached the bottom.

Aryn smiled at her, pushing away his own fear of flying. "I could," he replied with a smile, and swung her into his arms without prelude, jumping off the cliff and opening his wings to glide downwards into the cave. He set her down, smiling at her shocked expression before looking around the barren cave. there was no wood to make a fire, and from the knowledge he had picked up over the years, he knew how to make a smokeless fire. He flew off again-almost closing his eyes, he was afraid- and landed again in the woods, picking up dry, dead logs and sticks, as many as he could carry before he flew back. He wobbled a little in flight, causing a small stick to fall and hit Ante on the head. "Sorry!" he called, none too loudly, and flew back into the cave.

Julianne let out a startled squeak she he suddenly picked her up and then flew them down the cliff. He eyes were widened with fear as they went down and she stood shakily for a moment when she finally reached the ground again. By the time Aryn flew off though, she was back to normal, at least mostly. When he flew off she turned to face the others and look into the large cave before her. It was too dark for her to see very well she just created a ball of fire in her hand to light her path as she walked farther and farther into the cave.
