The Demonlution

"Your way of thinking is... too complicated." Isabella mumbled in a guarded tone because the emotion, the heart in his words spoken was scaring her more then a human weapon ever could and more then such things ever should. Things she had never thought about before and never really wanted to, it was only the lesser demons that actually couldn't think past their short mind but the higher demons that simply strived not to. Emotions and inner conflict, doubt in ones self and caring for others- it was all a form of weakness that while couldn't be pushed away completely had to be faught with in order to preserve a strong demonic state of mind. Stupid human thinking and emotions... they were starting to get to her, break down everything she had worked for so long to build herself up. The effects of your actions? No one had time to ponder on those when a decision and move needed to be made. She rarely did, and sure as hell this way of life had kept her around long enough. Happy? Maybe not always, but alive at least. What about if they hurt others? Broke lives apart? What about when the actions of others effect your life? The demoness had never run into the effects of her own choices as Shaine had, never had to see the face of a life she's ruined or let her guard down enough to be affected by such things.

It was too complicated because Isabella didn't understand it but didn't want to, she was sure if he continued to talk it would be overwhelming. If this continued, she might actually start... feeling sympathy for Shaine and trying to see things from his point of view. Maybe even take in a bit of his pain, feel it for herself even if it wasn't understood. The thought was horrifying, caring for another let alone a human in ways she couldn't even handle herself, her own mind and complex array of emotions. She shifted slightly letting out a light breath and something wet brushed her cheek, drawing a hand away from her chest Isabella brushed the tear on her shoulder she didn't know had fallen until now. Part of her mind instantly freaked out screaming it was rain but of course that wasn't true, so the simple explanation was that the tear belonged to the strong, confident, bold... maybe a bit pained human her wings were wrapped around. "Just... Just stop talking."

The tone in itself must have been shocking, because rather then a growl or a snarl, something of a bark or an order, no... her words were... a whimper. As if he had physically caused her pain, as if she was emotionally hurt. "Sleep." She said no more but instead returning the warm hand to her chest and wrapping it around his again, resting her head against the human-pillow Isabellas eyes drifted closed only half way. She could see bits of the room around them through an image shattered by her eyelashes but also off in some way... The demoness refused to believe what was in plain sight which was she was their were tears formed in her half-lived eyes. There was no reason to cry, other then feeling the pain of another which she had only done once and never wanted to do again- crying was as unnatural to demons as the rain was when they chose to hide their heart and emotions away so it was a rare sight that she faught to hide by tucking her chin down because it would surely make no sense to the human. He would probably just think her stomach was in pain or something along those lines. Despite telling him to stop talking, as her mind started to quiet down like a computer shutting off Isabella asked a question she would not stay awake long enough to hear the answer too. "Will you get any sleep tonight, what with a demon so close at hand?"

The conversation had brought so many emotions up in the man's mind. So many twisting- Conflicting emotions.. They all twined and writhed around- Wrapping around his neck like a hangman's noose as he settled in his own little puddle of misery. The words that left his lips had never been uttered before- He never even fathomed speaking of them and yet here he was, speaking of them to a demon of all things and.. And it scared him almost. He was always so reserved when it came to his own words. Lead by example The previous words seemed to never leave his mind. What sort of example was he setting to people..? To lock your emotions away into a locker and never let them escape- TO fight to better yourself to kill, become a tool of bravery and selfless sacrifice? What sort of.. Example -was- he setting for everyone? For the children in the underground colony that looked up to him and always run around him with toy jets making machine gun sounds and imitating the sounds of a jet fighter exploding mid air- Courtesy to the one jet fighter they had brought out from their under ground hanger and arsenal using a massive elevator to bring it above ground and well.. Everyone watched as it soared through the sky before a flying demon seeming to have coming out of nowhere slammed into it and was sucked into the jet engine- Causing the engine to explode suddenly. So many things.. So many emotions he had just let out and she could feel the slight tremble of his body before he managed to recollect himself.

Recollect himself didn't really happen though. His voice was a bare whisper when he spoke- The lids of his eyes suddenly feeling so heavy and for the first time he felt utterly exhausted- His shoulders sagged down as if he were holding a tractor trailer on each one and his hand against her chest tightened and then loosened to just rest there- Holding her in close against him while his free hand rested in her lap and well.. She was already drifting asleep wasn't she..? He answered anyways though- Hear or not he just.. He just wanted to talk "I can never sleep in cities." the simple words rolled outwards. He never could and never would after he had been caught in a city before fighting demons with his platoon. Sleep got four of his soldiers dragged off into the night. Sleep got people killed. Sleep would get him killed.

Little did he know, Shaines hand was stuck there now for quite some time. Warmly cocooned in both of her own, Isabella wasn't going to let it go even after her mind and body had drifted off into that docile state of sleep. In fact, with that internal alarm that didn't let a demon sleep when there was potential danger around, this human male just might have been the only one of his race to see a demon sleep so peacefully in such a close distance. At this quiet time she looked a lot different without burden of thought or movement, her whole form relaxed as it had ever been including the soft features on her face and slightly parted lips. A bit of an improvement from a scowl or scrunched up confusion. It was... peaceful. Of course, this never lasted because while already she was dead asleep Isabella was anything but still -within moments she had shuffled and tilted her head -rested against, still- up to brush the underside of his chin with her nose. The one wing stayed lazily slung around them but her damaged one was caught between hanging there and shuffled on the floor- at a rather awkward position that did not seem to bother Isabella the slightest. But then something rather unusual happened, although being a human he wouldn't know anything was out of the ordinary but for a demon the action definitely was rather odd. A small sound escaped her, easily picked up in the silence of the room... then silence before another and this time it was carried. A hum. She was humming, quietly and slowly for sure but there was a definite tune to the sound and... it was relaxing. The half-tune didn't stop either, keeping a complete silence from settling in. For whatever reason, she had let this small hummed song escape in a absent-minded vulnerable state of sleep as hopes of something of a comfort for the worn, miserable, and tired human cradling her in such a way that would probably never be possible again after this night had passed.

Hours into the night it was clear the destruction of the stairs had the effect Shaine had hoped for, keeping anything from making its way up to them except for a small lesser only a foot in length that had clearly seen the effects of his grenade. Only god knew how it had managed to make its way up there but there the thing was, dragging itself into the room with its thin long slick front arms, as it seemed the black back end was mangled. It didn't even make a sound when coming into sight, instead simply giving out a few seconds later to collapse on the floor and die. Pathetic, really. Isabellas eyes flickered open for a moment, wide and slitted as her senses kicked in upon the small danger but quickly closed again with something of a sigh. She shifted again to straiten up her back and bury her cool face in the side of his neck- even half minded asleep few would ever get this kind of closeness or contact from her... He was either lucky enough to be trusted with this closeness or was going to be in a lot of trouble when she woke up- but for now she fell back into a deep silent sleep.

Something odd about the demon who had dragged itself in however, was that while it had left a trail of usual black goop in its path the small thing was also splattered with fresh scarlet blood all around its muzzle. In fact, the mess was so fresh it was still dripping from the things muzzle lifeless into the floor. It wasn't very likely the thing had gotten a hold of wild life any time soon... no, that was most definitely human drippings.

"Of course he's up there, why else would they be swarming the place? And you saw the destruction to the bottom, I'm not leaving until we get a larger team down here to get up there and sweep the whole fucking place!" It was clear havoc, Shaines absence had not gone unnoticed from the start but was of course usual during the day. When night fell however, it was a much different story. No one stayed out at night, not even in groups but he had gone out alone of course which made it so much worse of a situation. Even with the potential loss of one man it was incredible how much of an effect it had on the small colony of humans living under ground in this city, at a time when lessers and beasts normally roamed the place -the night, no one left base at night for protection of these dangers- humans had now taken over and taken back their home just for the night in search of Shaine. It might have been touching if it wasn't so bloody dangerous, even splitting up in large groups with every soldier armed there had been a few close calls. But now it was almost certain they had a glimmer of hope, a pinpointed potential place where he may have taken refuge.

In original there had been two problems, not only did lesser demons both injured and not swarm the bottom of the place searching for any way to get up and also turning on all humans that approached but of course the bottom half of the place was in rubble preventing them from going much farther without proper supplies. Once the lessers had been taken care of with blissfully no fatalities -although apparently someone did loose a couple fingers- it was only a matter of getting up to the top which is where the substitute in charge had a hankering the man would be. Daylight would break in a few hours, it seemed. They just needed the supplies to get up there, it would be a huge waste of time if he wasn't but even the glimmer of hope that he was would be enough to get a crew down here in less then another our. "Damnitt Shaine, you better fucking be up there man."

He stirred and jumped at the human voice- Who was tha- They were searching for him. They were searching for him and Isabella was up here with him, she was in danger! It didn't take long for him to clamp a hand over Isabella's mouth, suddenly pushing her towards the pitch black corner of the room if allowed where he would hiss into her ear 'Stay silent! Stay fucking silent Isabella allright? my human friends came out searching for me and they're here right now okay? If they see you- They are going to shoot you whether I tell them not to because that would have been their instant first reaction to seeing a demon. Keep quiet and stay in the shadows, if you see anything you can get into or hide behind then hide behind it or get behind it okay?' with those words he would draw all the way back and lift his bullet proof plate carrier up to strap it to his chest tightly- Grabbing his SVD Styled sniper rifle to aim it down the stairs with a shout "Who the fuck is down there?" It was a clear enough threat paired with the sharp crack of his rifle that would roll outwards as he fired- A bullet slamming into the wall Ricocheting around and shattering within the tunnel. His threat was clear and finished by the sound of the spent, brass cartridge rolling down the stairs.

The threat was clear and given for anything not human or anything that was a demon that could speak english paired with him aiming down the stair way and gradually inching down- Inch by inch by inch to aim down at the ruined base of the stairs paired closely by the shout of worry from the humans below who would recoil backwards from the sharp report of the rifle 'Shaine?!' The name was shouted up towards the stairs as they trained their rifles up on it. They had to be cautious- Because some human groups were still hostile. Some human groups were simply bandit groups, no better than the demons themselves who caused so much havoc. These bandit groups did everything they could to cause havoc. Rape, pillaged, killed, enslaved, and executed any humans that came upon them and most of the bandit groups had been wiped out after a combined coalition of military and survival groups that had banded together and went on a full out assault against each camp possible- The fighting and combat that followed was so vicious that even the demons themselves wouldn't come near the fighting. Grenades and explosions- Balls of fire from napalm being dropped and gun battles that were sometimes so intense that if you lifted the tip of a cigarette up above your foxhole it would get its tip blown off. So many bullets fired- Machine gun emplacements at times fired so many bullets that massive piles of shell casings and empty ammunition cans were left behind after they were over-ran. It gave the demons a true taste of human warfare when the humans were prepared to attack and go on the assault and that was the worst fear next to the demons right now, being attacked by another human group

"Yes I am fucking Shaine!" He'd hiss down the words- Leaning forward into his rifle just a tad, its' deadly gaze leveling down into the stairs before a human head popped up in the sights of that deadly weapon of his 'Thunder Thunder!' The call SIgn echoed up the stairs paired with Shaine shouting back "Lightning! Stay down there- If you can get me a ladder. Last night was pretty bad- Got caught out in the dark and held up here. Fucking animals attacked me- I even had to kill a few up here before I blew the stairs. Let's just get me down and let's get the fuck out of her, no investigating or lingering behind. The city is going to become a hot bed for demons considering they -Know- there's some human presence here now and it's confirmed by the fight last night and your fight to clear them out allright? If we need be call forth the second armored division from the colony and we can get a tank force in here"

As soon as the hand clamped over Isabellas mouth her livid eyes snapped open in shock -but only for a moment because the next she was snarling, hissing, spitting, and digging her claws into Shaine to try and pry from his grip like a wounded animal on last attack mode. The first thought that formed in her mind once she got form of the situation was a very dark one, she felt ridiculously foolish now for trusting a human to get so close. Even though it was unknown exactly what he was doing, with a move like that it couldn't have been good- besides, the demoness didn't take kindly to being silenced in any sort of situation. With lightning speed she brought five razor claws down on the hand over her mouth but that's when he started to push her away and even though her heart was racing with anger and panic, she stopped her struggled attack for just a moment to hear the man hiss into her ear.

"Keep quiet and stay in the shadows,..." Wide eyes and scuffed wings to add to the effect indicated that she still didn't fully understand what was going on but after a moment the words finally sunk in. Being woken up in the middle of a sleep cycle tended to make humans and demons alike a bit slow. Of course, she knew to lay low but the fact that he had felt the need to tell her that was a bit insulting- what did he thing she was going to do, go out there and give them all a warm greeting? "Here? How many of them?" It was obvious he wouldn't know, but she still demanded an answer in a hissed tone showing Isabella was clearly pissed off at both being woken up and the potential threat of being riddled with bullets- scrunching a hand up in her hair as she talked. Seemingly ignored in the question she drew her lip back into another irritated growl before pushing further against the corner into the darkness where fittingly enough the demon blended in like the creature of shadows she supposedly was.

Unfortunately, Isabella wasn't really one to follow orders either. As soon as Shaine fired down the stairs -warning or not- she felt best to not stick around any longer or wait for his 'friends' to come on up and play. With the humans back turned quite a few paces away, Isabella shifted into a crouch on the balls of her feet and was immediately met with a sharp searing pain in her stomach. Shit. "Toughen up Isabella..." The mumble was low enough for Shaine not to hear her over his shouting as she looked up to the low roof above wondering if she could break through it. Sure, it wouldn't exactly be quiet like he wanted but in her opinion it was better then sticking here- she would rather hide out and about in the city then in such a confined place. Without a former doubt that she wouldn't be able to make it, Isabella gave a thrust with her good wing to leap and pull herself into the thin wooden structure supporting the inside of the roof just more then a few feet above. She gritted her sharp teeth, movements catlike and quiet but every single one hurt with the gash in her mid-section coming into play. Still, with the help of wings and a balanced tail she managed to pull herself higher onto the structure so she could press two hands against the flat of the roof which didn't seem like it would be too hard to break through. This brought a smirk to Isabellas expression, pleased with her own cleverness. Shifting balance to stand on her stable structure on the balls of her feet- before it gave in with a groan and she came crashing back to the ground bringing a bit of the roof with her. Fortunately she landed on her good wing and immediately started skidding back to the shadows with wide eyes, letting a low growl escape directed at Shaine as if it had been his fault.

"You have no idea how great it is to see your still alive and kicking. Yeah, we cleared out most of the small ones that managed to make it out of your blast there but they're still coming in like locasts-" The loud crash Isabella had caused made a few men raise there weapons and the one who had been talking looked back up. "You alone up there lieutenant? Watch your back, we've shot down three winged demons tonight and missed a few more then preferred." But the orders were still carried out, with a rope ladder at hand it took a few tosses to get it up to him but eventually the thing landed at the foot of the ruined stairs waiting to be used. Radio calls wrung out confirming that 'Shaine had been found' for quite some time leaving the hovering question of just how many had been out in the city looking for him.

She was going to get him killed- What the fuck was wrong with her?! Rage was forming up in the pit of his stomach as she seemed to ignore him after clawing him. Why the fuck couldn't she listen?! Didn't she have any common fucking sense? His anger continued to grow- Blood spilling down his hand. How the hell was he going to explain a fresh wound on his hand when they got up here?! Why the hell was she messing everything up and trying to get herself killed when he was trying to keep her safe and keep her from being shot down by everyone else and his anger only grew as the roof structure suddenly came down where she was- Wood spilling down and alerting everyone downstairs and up there. What the fuck was was her problem?! He turned around giving her a WITHERING glare- He was actually angry and for most it would have actually been scary to get such a terrifying look from the man paired with him grabbing a piece of wood and chucking it straight at her. It was a simple warning. You listen to me or you will be trapped up here and you will die. It only took one hand grenade up there to kill the two. The simple yank of a pin and toss of a hand grenade and it would land up there and the men below most certainly heard the roof falling down.

How was he going to counter this? How was he going to play this off and make sure they didn't come storming up here if they did find a latter? He had to make a quick choice and a fast decision- Shown as he lowered his rifle to the lesser demon he had just spotted on the ground from the night before and began firing- Round after Round after Round was fired- Bang, Bang, Bang- Rounds tearing into the lesser demon's body each time- Amber sparks eventually erupting up into the air after the fifth round as the copper jacketed bullet collided with the concrete floor and ricocheted up into the air between them paired with a spray of blood that would erupt off the body and up into the air from the bullets slamming into the body until finally he finished the ninth round- Leaving brass casings scattered on the ground below them, rolling around carelessly until they came to a stop "Fuck!" He'd shout trying to play it off as if he had been surprised suddenly- Every single shot fired to help in playing it off "It's clear up here now! One just came through the top of the roof but I'm allright- I killed it. Hey, we gotta fucking go!" he'd shout down, casting another glare over to Isabella as he changed magazines- Shifting a fresh, fully loaded magazine into the magazine well before drawing the charging hammer back with a loud, metallic 'SHlink' that would chamber a fresh round and after a few seconds he made his way down to the stairs to secure the rope ladder- Face splattered in speckles of black blood from the demon paired with his hand dripping blood

Isabella raised her arms to deflect the small block of wood thrown at her and returned the humans glare with one of her own, baring her teeth to let him know she wasn't and never would be afraid of his scorning looks. Even thought the her attempt at getting out had been a failure the first time rather shamefully she would have gladly tried again if the structure hadn't been brought down as well. The demoness didn't like taking orders or being told what to do- not from a higher, not from another demon, and definitely not from a human but it seemed sticking to the shadows once more was the only thing to do especially now in such dull pain as she was with that rough encounter with the ground.

Knees drawn up sitting on the hard floor with her back pressed into the wall and red wings tucked on the sides, Isabella blended into the darkness all but her bright eyes which seemed to be the enemy for splitting the shadows in such contrast. They were trailed on Shaine, as he fired round after round into the demon she had previously killed- but Isabella had figured out what he was doing as soon as the first shot was fired. She wasn't going to say sorry for dis-obeying his orders because honestly she wasn't, and he had covered it up just fine as far as she was concerned. Its not as if the human would be the one in real trouble if his friends came up here anyway, he wasn't the one shamelessly hunted for causing trouble and he wasn't the one they would shoot on sight. Still, the sharp scent of his blood hit her and that was something she could be sorry for even if she wouldn't say it out loud. All Shaine had been doing was trying to keep her safe and on the down low... she had replied with a nasty cat-scratch as 'thank you'. Her eyes trailed from his hand to his own with something of an apology in them before turning away sharply to rest her chin on her drawn up knees making herself as small as possible in the cool room. Pushed into the corner like this, it was hard to believe their night together as friends rather then enemies had come to an end already leaving her slightly hollow feeling wondering if anything would change past this or if he would move on to shoot at her again in the presence of other soldiers if they came into contact sometime in the future. Actually, since she was planning to stick around it would be likely that they would come into contact again... it would be a nice thought to think that just they could stay anything but two races at war but reality was knocking hard on that hope reminding Isabella in a nasty tone that there sides would stay enemies despite the communication of one night and two individuals. "We can leave it at that because at the end of the day I know I'll become nothing more than a memory to you."

And what will I be to you? Perhaps he could see the question in her eyes, as they were the only things clearly visible in such darkness and still trailed on Shaine as he secured the latter and the rest of his group called up to him and each other getting ready to move out once Shaine was down there. His hopes had been met, it seemed they wouldn't storm up the stairs to clear the place but only because day break was still some time away and every second spend out in the city was a risk at the lives of others. "Alight, get down here then so we can be on our way! Are you injured in any way? Man, a lone guy who managed to last the night in a demon-swarmed city- I'm telling you Shaine you'll make the history books."

"I got a fucked up hand but i'm allright. I might make the history books but who kno-" He was cut off by the distant crack of a rifle. -That- wasn't planned. She could suddenly feel the tension cracking through the air at the shot. That wasn't from them. And if it wasn't from them then who was it? She could tell there was something wrong. She could tell in the sudden silence of the group before she could hear the shuffling of feet as the humans shifted into cover paired with the sound of Shaine speaking into a radio "Four Bravo- This is Lieutenant Shaine. We have heard a distant rifle shot- Did any of you fire..?" He was speaking to any of the nearby units and outposts- It wasn't uncommon for the humans to be paranoid of other human groups and with him speaking into his radio at that she could hear the reply faintly 'No Lieutenant, Four Bravo perimeter hasn't fired. Unit three is deployed into city to look for you but figuring you're on Coms I assume they're with you." Another distant rifle shot and then a sudden crack as a round whipped right past the tower. She had seen humans fighting demons but humans fighting humans? The scuffle of boots below and the crunching of broken glass signaled the soldiers scrambling for cover paired with a sudden explosion of gun fire as their rifles began to spit out hate and death towards the location of the lone gunman who had taken a crack shot at them but it was going to get worse.

A Loud whoosh suddenly split the sound of the gun fire as what seemed like a rocket was fired towards the group- Slamming into the side of the tower to explode with a bright, orange ball of fire and smoke that would cave part of the tower in- At-least the stairs were still open but with the soldiers beneath it well. It was a risk to wanna go down the stairs and take a shot out to escape. Little did she know there was another group that had begun to move into the city- A group of what is called 'Reavers'. Humans who had long forgot civilization- They were more vicious than bandits- They only killed for supplies. They had not a single thing they wanted besides maybe weapons, ammunition, and food and always killed and executed- Whether a child or a baby, they would die. And to make matters worst, those they killed they often ate- Cured into Jerky or roasted over fire to feast on and eat at later dates. They saw nothing as untouchable- It didn't matter if the group was powerful or not- They would attack and attack until they got what they wanted

At the second crack shot Isabella was standing, not trustworthy enough of the situation to sit in the corner any longer. If it wasn't their little annoying human group, then who the hell was firing? Pacing from the shadows against the wall she listened tentatively to Shaine hiss into the radio but refrained from asking questions with others so close to their location least the squad below hear a second more feminine voice. But oh, did she want to ask mindloads of questions with the nerves and curiosity playing a part to keep her padding just a few feet at a time back and fourth until havoc broke out as the group was attacked head on. The sound of rapid gunfire was probably traumatising to most demons, it was so loud at close range enough to make them flinch back and not to mention it carried many bloody memories if one were to live through such an experience as Isabella had before. It drew the less clever or mindful ones in out of curiosity often times, something humans had learned to use to their advantage but also snapped the highers into a quick triggering state of mind. Instinctively within the first second, her thick red wings were brought up and around to deflect any aimed at her but of course there were none- it seemed that surprisingly enough the humans had another enemy close at hand perhaps one even more dangerous then the demonic creatures that were now scampering away in all directions away from the source of the battle sound outside. But who? It was still lucky she had guarded as so with her wings, because as the tower came down directly above her Isabella was able to shift mainly out of the way in a quick movement and avoid most of the red-hot dripping flaming debris that came with the cave-in.

Screw staying hidden, as soon as Isabella yanked her tail out from under a given in beam -ouch- she was racing to look for a way out of this place that wouldn't require running face-to-face with the human group below. Would it even be safer to go outside, what with all the gun-fire and panicked havoc? The heat of fire licking in the impacted corner of the room was nothing, even with most of her upper-torso exposed to it but she couldn't exactly get close enough to try and get out through that way, the roof had already proved itself untrustworthy but now more then ever as most of it had given in. Wide quick eyes scanned the room filled with anything but fear, no it was determination and will to get out of here- will to survive that fuled her now. Not fear.

Spreading her wings she gave them a beat to up-bring the small consuming fire and fule it to make it grow, thinking quick but making up her plan as she went along although she would never admit it. Isabella always like to look like she had these things planned out. From the impact until now she had forgotten about the second presence in the room but as he was brought to her mind she reared around to look for Shaine folding in her wings with a quick panicked thought. Shit. Humans were incredibly sensitive to fire and smoke, had he gone down the latter already or was he still caught in this dangerous place?

Shaine was no longer in the hallway and with the growing smoke and fire the humans glanced back to the tower- Shaine noticing it- Shit! He had to get the group away so Isabella could escape and after a few seconds his soldiers began to fire at the sniper's position and the demons who scampered away as more guns in the distance began to join the battle paired with a feared weapons for demons. A .50 Caliber machine gun- Its steady thump thump thump unmistakable as those massive manana size rounds were fired out through a building "Attack!" Lead by example.

Lead by example.

Shaine suddenly got up and dashed straight down the length of the street as rounds snapped past him and slammed into the road in bursts of white smoke from the asphalt getting hit only to have him rush into the side of a small building that looked like an old, abandoned CVS. Lead by example. The troop of soldiers- Ten in total came chasing after him quickly as rounds snapped past them but one wasn't lucky- A poor, young blonde haired soldier took a bullet straight into his plate carrier causing his body to jerk to the right as the bullet proof plate took the bullet and knocked him straight down onto his back in a twirling fall that was soon followed by another bullet slamming straight into his head with a sickly crack that sent bits of his skull flying up into the air and three other bullets that would slam into his back punching through the plate carrier. Not that it mattered, he was already dead. A quick, painless death luckily as the remaining nine soldiers rushed into the small building and the explosion of gunfire erupted again. She could just barely see the firing positions- Enemies had gotten set up in a row of buildings looking down the street and soon enough a bright plume of brown dust exploded out the front of the CVS paired with a large, red rod that would slam into one window and explode in a black ball of smoke that sent pieces of concrete and wood showering down onto the street from the hand held LAW rocket. The city block was becoming a mini warzone and to make matters worse she could hear the distant rumble of the Colony's tanks as they started up in the distance. Was it about to be full out war in the city? It sure as hell seemed like it

In the distraction of the colony below, Isabella continued to beat her wings to rear up the savage fire until the roof above started to groan and crumble again unable to take the bite of intense flames. The heat, even for a demon was now getting uncomfortable and a thin sweat had broken out on her skin as livid bright oranges and yellows continued to lick closely. Now or never. Without time to spare another thought of hesitation she crouched down for a moment before leaping up and slamming through the weakened roof, a hole big enough to pull herself through that almost crumbled -it it had, she would have gone crashing down again but it didn't give in and the demoness pushed herself up clawing around until finally she had dragged herself out of the room and onto the outside. Directly out in the open for anyone who saw fit to fire at her. Whoops, didn't think that through. Luckily, the roof was shaped in such a way where as long as she remained crouched against its cool tiles the way she was right now Isabella would be out of sight. For the most part, anyway. Fresh air was the first thing that hit her, hadn't even realised the smoke being breathed in was painful until now so taking a few deep breaths as she moved to the edge where the heat below was no so aggressive or dangerous, Isabella scanned the scene below for a moment before she had to draw back into cover as a lone bullet whizzed past her head. She didn't even know what could have possibly caused this much destruction and cayous, but the humans firing at other humans she had seen in those few short seconds said loud and clear that there was some sort of war going on. Didn't Shaine mention earlier his race used to battle with each other? She had assumed with demons into play that that was a thing of the past, but now it seemed it was most definitely not. What havoc... This was getting in way over her head, even for a higher. Everything inside was telling Isabella to follow the path of the many demons fleeing from sight- to pull any way possible and leave the city or die trying. Right now, that seemed to be the only option.

Unless there was a way to stop this? It was a stupid idea, only a demon would ever phantom trying to stop a full out war from breaking out- a feat that seemed absolutely impossible even in large numbers at this point. Large numbers... No, this was a stupid idea. Further more, there was no way it would ever work and a very slim chance it would even make a positive difference- more likely the idea on her mind would just create more trouble for them to deal with as demons usually did. "Get the fuck out of here, Isabella." The demon snarled to herself now allowing for further thought as she slipped down the roof sticking to the darkness in shadows. The group which had resided below the stairs was in panic, but also considerably smaller for some reason. Hmm. No time to ponder on that, Isabella was able to slip past them easier but once they were out of sight getting to city edge was a deadly game of not being seen no matter what- in this state, dodging a bullet was out of the question. One lone demon who knew how to move was hardly noticeable in the best of times, but with this many firing all at once it was no surprise when the winged demon flattened herself against the wall to take a stray bullet to the upper arm with a hiss of pain. So close... she was so close to the cities edge and it would be so easy to go from there if she could only make it a bit more...

Rounding a sharp corner Isabella found herself face-to-face with a reddened young man holding his arm in such a way that suggested he had also taken a hit- he had brilliant blue eyes that made the demon tilt her head for a moment. Demons loved blue eyes and right now these ones were full of fear, anger, and pain. She drew back her teeth into a growl waiting for him to fire but- wait, he didn't have a weapon? Nothing, both hands were empty at his sides and the boy knew this very well because that fear in his lovely young eyes made sense now. He was waiting for her to lunge. It was already over in his eyes. If it had been any moment but this one of panic and confusion, any place other then a single safe zone in a bullet riddled city Isabella would have done just that- instead the demoness hissed before charging strait for the human before ramming her shoulder strait into his, pushing him aside as she made her way past without further contact. Quite literately, she didn't have time for a meal right now.

Cities edge. She would have to pat herself on the back later for making it all the way through the city alive but not was not an ideal time- and as expected when the demoness pulled herself higher still sticking to the darkness of the night where she would not be fired at... there they were. At least twenty of them, always hovering around battle grounds drawn in by the sound and the scent of death, gunfire, and spilling blood- the beasts crowded around snapping at each other idolly. Thick fur, small eyes, open double jaws drooling at the scent... they would not enter the city until most of the noise had died down and only then to scavenge for any remains they could get. The sound of gunfire acted as something of a barrier for their small minds, but Isabella herself knew how to break it. Well, most highers from the home world did really. Question was, would a double dozen pack of twelve-foot high by eight-foot long beasts be enough to scare the attackers from the city or would it simply add to the trouble? The beasts of course would attack anything and everything, but this colony would know every space hidden to hide from living in the city... the attacking group of course would mainly be left out in the open. That was... possibly the only positive effect this plan had going for it, because the rest were stupidly damaging in effect and there were So many ways this could possibly go wrong.

Then again, since when did Isabella ever doubt her own plans?

So many ways it could possibly go wrong and she was right, If they got sent in there it could possibly break the fight up but then again, it could just turn it into an almost apocalyptic battle- Shown as four of the Colony's tanks suddenly turned into the street out of the arad, browned grass and dirt on the city's outskirts. With their lieutenant in the city and a group of hostile combatants attacking the lieutenants group in the city firepower was going straight in. Nothing was going to be left to chance- And following closely with those tanks were three armored personnel carriers- Two full of more soldiers and one other empty to pick up the soldiers in the city. This was all coming up and adding up to become one hell of a fight unless it was broken apart.

'Let's give them hell!' The shout rolled outwards as the Commander to one of the tanks suddenly pulled the hatch down and slid into the tank. Chaos is exactly what was bound to happen as the tank rounded a corner and paused- Its massive 120mm Cannon shifting around before it belched a rolling ball of orange flame and grey smoke that kicked up a cloud of dust off the street as the shell slammed into another building and collapsed the entire upper floor in a waterfall of grey dust and concrete pouring down onto the street. It was all becoming a battle in the heart of this ruined city- Demons running by being picked up as an APC's Secondary machine gun spit a trail of red tracers out across them- Tearing through them and ricocheting off the nearby buildings and the street. Her plan would work- And perhaps the Colony soldiers would get away if they could get in that emptied APC but the Reavers were fighting back. They were pouring an immense amount of fire outwards- Rounds sparking off the turret of the tanks and armor of the carriers and from Isabella's position she could see the reavers panicking- Their supply point showing armored figured running from piles of crates back to the buildings paired with stretchers of wounded being brought back to the supply point where their commander was screaming into a radio and jumping up and down. Armor was one thing the reavers hadn't been expecting and one of the msot effective weapons on the battlefield considering the lack of anti tank weapons almost everywhere except for in the colonies consisting of soldiers who had basically taken everything from their armories.

Funny thing about most demons, higher or lesser they shared one thought process in a certain situation which was usually when they had made up their minds to do something, there was very little that could or would change their minds. Perhaps it was just the fact that they were stubborn, sticking to their decisions even if they were wrong or it could even be that often times the demons did not even see the faults or wrongs in their actions. Either way, even before her eyes laid on the attacking groups panic Isabella had decided to go through with her plan and drive that lovely pack of beasts into the city. Not because she thought it would work or even to help out really- why would she even care to fight with the colony when she could just as easily right now slip away? Most demons would and were anyway, littering out of the city in incredible numbers that would scare any human soldier watching- completely unaware that there had been that many lessers residing within their home. No, the demoness wasn't really sure what gave her a push to pull through or why she didn't simply take refuge into the air now... but what ever it was, something had made her mind up and opened her wings swooping down lower.

The heat of a battle was rooted in the center of the city, but here although it wasn't quiet it was definitely still. Only the scamper of an occasional lesser could be heard, and of course the rough thick breaths of each beast as it padded its way around with thick-skinned paws that would easily take a few rounds to penetrate along with their hide. Isabella knew not a single one of the giants would be able to detect her- their hearing and senses were clouded from the battle much like her own. They could only hear and almost taste what excited them the most which was the sounds of a fight, and compared to that the demoness making her way across a short roof was no more then a pest.

Peaceful as they were, in the home world these things could be pests that needed to be driven off on occasion. In a large group? No problem, they could get a little jumpy so it was always a good idea to have backup help on hand when your jumping the alpha, pissing it off, and steering it in one direction before jumping off and hoping it doesn't realised you've jumped off or turn around to come back for you. Yeah, even thinking about it in her mind Isabella knew it sounded a bit risky but she had done this plenty of times... just not alone and not in this world where these things monstrous black vicious were more likely to rip you apart. "Well, there's a first time for everything..." If it wasn't for her reckless attitude and stupid bravery, of course she would have abandoned the idea when she saw the side of the 16 foot alpha snuffling through the grass below her position on the roof. But then again, that wouldn't be very like the demoness at all.

One more deep breath, a confident pose, her hair flipped behind her and out of the way before she spread her scarlet wings once more swooping down like a hawk onto the thing and landed on the thick ridge between its head and its neck. The effect was immediate. An ear splitting, furious roar was given off by the alpha as it stumbled back shaking its whole form like a dog ridding itself of water- Isabella tangled her hands in that thick matt and swung her leg over so one clamped tightly on each side and she was essentially riding the god damn thing. It was much more difficult to hang on then she expected, but valuable moments were ticking away as other members of the pack realised what had happened so letting out a loud cry herself the demoness dug her heels in and kicked the thing in the side of its jaw on the right side. "Comon you great lug, let it moving!" Her tone was a bit of a roar itself, and with another kick the beast started to charge blindly veering off to the side every time she would roughly slam her heel into one side of its face. Now that it was going, she had to worry about hanging on until the time was right and didn't even have to look backwards to notice the rest of the pack was following the alpha. That was the essential, after all. Why drive them all in when all you had to do was get the leader moving? This was the time when having a helping hand would be bloody helpful, but she would have to do it alone of course and as soon as the clawwed paws of the beast she was clinging too hit city ground Isabella flung herself off to the side.

Getting trampled would not be a nice way to go, with that in mind as soon as she hit the ground protective wings came up to wrap around before she continued to move avoiding panicked feet like a stampeed of elephants. There was no doubt, her plan had been set into motion for as soon as that alpha hit the heat of the gunfire it was going to loose its mind and the rest of the pack would follow- whether it would help or not was a question she might not live long enough to find the answer too. Standing up to watch the last of the beasts dissapear into the city reaches- or what she thought was the last, because a stray one came up behind her as it struggled to keep up with the rest of the group and bashed into the demoness full force with its great head sending her flying to hit the side of a building and crack her head against the rough wall- instantly the world turned dark.

What was that rumbling in the distance that seemed to be cutting the gunfire in half? Shaine at the moment could barely poke his head up as he began to reload his rifle. Whoever dared to attack them had enough strength at the moment to keep up the fight as the second tank came around the corner and squared itself off infront of the building- A brief whoosh and explosion of hot amber sparks off the turret of the first tank paired with the cloud of grey smoke that erupted up into the air into a cloud signaling the enemy's own panic at the tanks as they fired a rocket at one and the thick, ceramic and reactive armor of the beast shrugged it off without a problem and now they had two tanks firing at them- Two massive balls of dust being kicked up off the street as both tanks fired their main cannons into a building to completely collapse it- Angry red ropes spewing from the tanks coaxial machine guns as they began to pick off any thermal images amongst the rubble that could be a combatant and for a moment the fire wavered only for the third tank to round the corner but before it could turn its turret it spotted the massive beast- Was it coming for them?! Either way the gun shifted into manual control of the turret so he could control the turret and not the commander, the massive 120mm cannon leveling on the beast's shape as it slammed the demoness into the side of a building 'Shaine we got Towers in the city!' towers being their nickname for the massive beasts- Derived from their massive size 'Engaging!' The word rolled outwards and just as the world began to go dark Isabella would have been able to catch a glance of the Massive Demon's body virtually vanishing in a cloud of black and pink that would leave only its feet and shins behind. Oh yes, the tank had just fired a massive 120mm Shell at the beast without even knowing it was saving Isabella and with that threat there the third and fourth tank continued down the street a bit to form a perimeter as the armored personnel carriers sped between the tanks- Their firing ports erupting in red and orange flashes as the soldiers within began to pour fire out into the building.

The enemy couldn't hold on forever- Especially with the COlony in a KIll Kill Kill mode- THe building were kicking up immense amounts of dust, crumbling and collapsing everywhere under the hail of rifle fire and cannon fire from the tanks and that's when the humans spotted the pack "IN THE CARRIERS!" Shaine shouted as his soldiers rushed into the empty carrier and instantly they armor personnel carriers began to reverse back down the street- The enemy was in a full panic now spotting the pack- To the point where a heavy machien gun time lifted their massive weapon up, tripod and all and turned it towards the lumbering beasts- Spitting a stream of .50 Caliber tracers out towards them before vanishing in a cloud of black smoke from a tank cannon's shot. The commander of the reavers himself was in an even more panicked mode- They had too many wounded to evacuate and the enemy began to quickly pull backwards under the hail of fire and that's when everyone's except for the colony's own nightmare came to life. The loud, roaring screech of a jet over-head rolled outwards as its grey, sleek shape was spotted in the distance roaring towards the city. The colony enforced their kill policy of reavers to the point where they had risked bringing a jet up to the surface to launch it with two five hundred pound bombs on each wing- Oh boy.. This spelled trouble for Isabella unless she woke up in time to scurry out of the city

Relentless, nothing but panic and rage as the beasts barrelled through each one not stopping on its mindless rampage until it was either taken down or... well that was it really, the things ran into each other and buildings but most of all the people scattering the streets. Matted fur dripping with blood upon the impacts but their coats seemed to absorb many of the hits without taking much effect. They didn't seem to care for stopping to munch on what ever their jaws caught, rather barrelling through everything and when the largest, snarling drooling alpha was taken down things only got so much worse.

Of course what ever had happened to them Isabella would not know at the moment, slammed against the wall so hard a small trickle of glossy dark blood ran from the back of her head. She had sustained worse, much worse and this would leave no more then a nasty tender bump in the morning. Completely crumpled there however, and hidden from sight behind large folded scarlet wings there was no way she was getting up any time soon... on her own. Morning? She might not even make it that far. "Get up get up you stupid thing!" The small demon from days before snarled in smooth demonic tongue, kneading her head with sharp-clawed paws much like a cat might but definitely more aggressive-like staring down with small dark eyes. How he had survived this long within the dangerous city, through all the chayous and in this screaming battle never the less was absolutely unknown- perhaps it was just part of the perks of being something small enough to slip through cracks. And much like its lesser brothers, the demon had been fleeing the city when Isabella broken against the wall had caught its attention. "If you do not wake I am leaving you behind!" Spitting and snarling the thing sink its tiny sharp teeth into her arm and attempted to drag for a moment before the higher finally stirred, yanking her arm from its grip and leaving a bloody tear in the process deep enough that it just might scar.

"What... What the hell?" Her head was pounding, the events of moments before still sharp though luckily enough as just now a feint rumble in the distance was alerting her of danger. Back to the lesser demon, she could ponder on how the hell that thing was alive later but as soon as Isabella tried to get up her head swayed enough to cause her to hit the ground again. Everything hurt. Stomach searing, wings dull, head pounding, a lovely array of teeth-punctures on her arm now to add to it all and all the demoness wanted to do was lie down and die. "Crawl then, get your hind moving!" The lesser spat in its high tone -Isabella probably would have strangled it if it was in reach, savoir or not- and almost mediately she pushed herself onto her hands and knees. Why had the thing shaken her, awoken her instead of just fleeing? Even now, as it stayed with her making there way slowly... the answer was unclear but at the same time now was probably not the time to be worrying about such.

The battle proved only to intensify as the panic of the situation grew worse- There were demons attacking now, barreling through anything in their way and it added a new sort of threat to the already deadly situation as the tanks and APCs held their positions before slowly pulling back- Rounds pinging off their thick, sloped armor all around in the form of red sparks. No one even noticed Isabella- At-least for now they didn't. She had time to get out, all eyes and guns were trained on the reapers strong buildings before them- The buildings that had now been forced to split their fire on the massive brutes and the Colony response forces. The only thing left in Shaine's rpevious position were four discarded LAW Disposable rocket launchers and an assortment of shell casings and bloodied bandaging paired with trash to the fresh medical supplies that had been torn open to treat whoever had gotten shot- This was also paired with the body of a young soldier who lay dead in the middle of the street, his body unrecoverable due to the torrential rain of heavy fire being placed down on them and that's when possible disaster could have struck for Isabella. If demons had hearts or more if she had a heart and cared for Shaine she might just feel it suddenly lurch up in her chest as a loud 'Whoosh' rocketed through the air- An Anti tank missile finally slamming into one of the armored personnel carrier.

The effects were devastating. The missile slammed into the front of the turret and punched straight through it into the crew compartment and soldiers compartment where it exploded with such violent force and fury that it blew the entire top half, turret and all, right off the tank in a deafening shock wave that would coarse across the road and kick up dust in all directions as pieces of metal and even body parts began to fall down all over the place near the hit armored personnel carrier that had no doubt had its' entire crew and load of soldiers killed instantly in the blast that left it blown apart and spewing angry red flames and sparked twenty feet up into the sky paired with smaller secondary explosions from separate shells to its' auto cannon exploding under the heat of the fire within the carrier that seemed to act like a blow torch. It was a horrendous thing for anyone to see and made worse as a burning, blackened helmet with pinkish goo in the inside- Likely brain matter- rolled towards her after hitting the ground and came to a spinning halt right in front of her.

The reapers had managed to get their anti tank weapons into the city and set up and instantly the fire from the Colony soldiers intensified- Every gun available was pouring an immense amount of fire into the frontal building and some of the side building where the reapers had tried to out flank them- It was a practical hurricane of death and destruction as the guns fired and the cannons belched explosive shells that tore into buildings and exploded inside of rooms- Spraying the room and road with shrapnel until the convoy was almost out of the city, leaving the burning APC behind and that's when the fighter bomber jet above dropped its' payload. Two 1000 Kilogram bombs and any demon smart enough to look to the sky could tell these bombs or whatever the jet had dropped would have been bad news.. Both bombs were dropping almost side by side on bright red parachutes. A bad omen for anything near them or under them

Staying quickly on the move was hard when every ten seconds you had to duck and cover your head just to make sure it wasn't blown off, the smaller demon continued to snarl at Isabella but it too looked quite shaken by the sights and sounds. This was nothing like the wars demons were used to, nothing they had ever experienced before coming to this world and fighting with such an enemy hands on. Claws and tooth, silent stalker ambushes and quick bloody battles. That was natural to a demon, anything from as small as a personal feud to a territorial dispute but this? Ear-piercing bang after bang of guns and other horrifying metallic man-made weapons, the sweet stench of blood mixed with shrapnel that made her stomach churn, even the constant threat of being shot down was more then she was used to and it was clear although the demoness was tough, she was not built for a human war. Not built to withstand such violent machines, sharp-shooting weapons, or the fiery smoke scent that each one gave off. In fact Shaine was somewhat right on that aspect -most demons wouldn't be able to make their way through this loud raging bloody heat without slipping into a panic as she was now, let alone concur over another race in it. The sights and screams? Those were nothing, slipping into the background noise and even when the helmet rolled out in front of her like a stray ball she simply batted it aside. The lesser demon paused to sniff its charred edges before sticking its tongue out to taste inside and quickly pulling back with a face of disgruntled disgust.

A heart? Isabella didn't even have a mind right now, let alone time to worry about something like that. No doubt it would catch up after this was all over, if it ever ended which right now seemed would not happen- a shot brushing inches from her red hair spiralled the demoness into more panic. All she wanted to do was get out of here and curl up in the smallest hole or nook she could possibly fit to cover her bleeding ears, leave the screaming city and never come back. She didn't look up to see the vibrant red descending threats but her lesser companion sure as hell saw them, and instantly recognised them -if not as bombs,- as a deadly threat. "Come on COME ON!" Letting out a snarl, Isabella finally pushed herself onto her feet again despite the sway but it clearly wasn't enough for the lesser because he replied with a growl of his own. "I said get it MOVING!" Leaping forward towards her the thin long flexible creature sunk its claws and teeth into her tail causing Isabella to let out a yelp before bolting at a much faster pace. Her boots avoided touching ground to the much rubble that was covering everything now along with the bloody messes of victums, not out of respect but because tripping right now would be the end. She looked up to the sky only for a moment, long enough to see what she needed in order for that -until now, dormant- survival instinct to spark up. A bullet, stray or aimed, shot inches in front of her face but the demons only reaction was to look where it had hit- and see a possible way out of the threat of being blown to bloody demonic bits. Some sort of barricade, quickly composed of ruined cars and a few bits of rubble... perhaps an attempt to block from the gunfire aiming at whoever had been there or still was there. Sad, but it may be effective. They were some ways away from where the bombs would seem to be landing, but was it far enough to be in the safe zone?

The smaller demon sunk its teeth deeper into her tail -painfully close to her backside, in fact- reminding Isabella that she had to move so that's just what the Demoness did. And hell, did she ever move. With her wings tucked closely in she sprinted faster then any human ever could, enough to make her companion loose his grip in the sudden jolt and flick of her tail in movement. She was at the make-shift shield in seconds and leaping behind it to find it gratefully empty. The last thing right now she would need was worrying about taking out one of these violent filthy sink-worms for shooting at her, not with her life on the line unknowing if she was even safe. There was a quiet moment, where Isabella expected the lesser to make some comment but nothing came- in fact he was nowhere to be seen at all. "What the-?!" She couldn't help the words escape her lips, hadn't he just been with her a moment ago? Back over, standing up to full height despite the threat of taking a bullet to her now exposed head, she found her answer lying on the ground just a few feet from her shelter limp with his jaws spread wide open and a thick drizzle of blood running from a gunshot wound to the neck that had gone strait through. Her eyes widened for a moment, only a moment of half-grief was all that could be spared before she dropped down again curling up into a tight ball to pray she was out of the impact zone.

She was fortunate enough to be out of the impact zone but the sound would still be deafening as both bombs slammed into the ground and for a few seconds everything went silent. No more gun fire stirred and the armored convoy had pulled all the way out- The screech of the jet in the distance marking its' own retreat as a distant human voice rolled outwards tinted with a laugh "It's a fuckin' fak-" Black smoke suddenly exploded into the sky- The shockwave visibly in a bright, vibrant white wave that rocketed upwards into the sky and across the city- Right past Isabella's little spot where a wave of dust was kicked up paired closely with two massive balls of billowing orange flame that would erupt through the black smoke in the sky. It was only a matter of time before the sound finally hit her as two entire city blocks were completely demolished- Every single building collapsing and sending shards of concrete and piece of cars soaring high up into the sky before finally the deafening blast hit her- It sounded like a rifle going off right in her ear- So loud it echoed off the nearby mountain and after that there was true silence in the city. The reapers had been completely obliterated in their position by the two massive one thousand pound bombs they didn't think would have been dropped and any demons within those demolished city blocks would have been just as obliterated as the humans themselves as-well as terrified if they were anywhere near or in the city. It was a testament.

A testament to human power and strength. Maybe this is what Shaine meant when he said that the Demons hadn't even had a taste of human warfare and human bombs. One could only imagine how many demons that could have killed if dropped in the right place and with no more gunfire the city blocks were left obliterated and smoldering- Fires breaking out in the nearby buildings paired with an old gasline that still bore its' load of natural gas that had ruptured- Spewing rosy red flames high up into the sky amongst the city ruins and the battle was over. One young soldier left dead in the middle of the street- His body partially buried under dust now and a burning APC that had been hit by the shockwave hard enough to throw the piece of human death and destruction over onto its' side where it spewed burning fuel along with the occasional pops and secondary explosions from the ammunition still burning up within and erupting. The demons had gotten a good taste of how deadly the humans could be and how vicious human warfare could be. Sure the lessers may not understand it but the greater demons with functioning and active brains certainly would understand the threat and the destruction they had just heard, seen, or witnessed in the distance. The human group here had also just likely established a power base- The bombs being a massive testament to their power. It may act even as a deterrent for any smarter demons who were looking to come and explore.

"Fuck.." Shaine whispered in the back of the armored personnel carrier as the soldiers all sat there with a crate of cartridges infront of them- Casually reaching in to grab a handful of bullets to load their magazines with while others began to clean their weapons. They hadn't experienced human on human combat in months and it was exhilarating almost- A feeling you just don't get from fighting demons considering demons can't really shoot back but the effect on Shaine was more worry. They knew there was a reaper encampment nearby now- Which meant the Colony was going to war for sure. Reapers couldn't be allowed to roam, rape, and pillage any survivors and all the colonies who had survived agreed with the same thing. They would be fighting two wars now but even more Isabella was on his mind the most. Was she allright? Had she gotten away and survived the ordeal..? Oh what he'd give to have her arms around him at the moment or the warmth of her curvy body pressed in against his own.

Isabella stayed hunched down with her wings curled safely around her for a long time after the impact, after the supposed settlement when all had gone silent for her around. One of her sharp ears was ringing like an alarm bell, the other completely silent and void of picking up anything. Deftness, blindness, things like that were never permanent on a demon higher or lesser due to there incredible ability to duplicate and multiply cells-even a lost eye could be replaced with time. Her currently completely damaged hearing that had put a thick mask over any sound wouldn't last long at all, a day or two at most to come back and a few weeks to heal completely. With that being said, even an hour in complete silence lacking one of their main senses... a demon was as good as dead meat. Even the loss of sight would have been better as Isabella wasn't very observant anyway, but no longer for the moment could she pick up on approaching steps or a seice of gunfire- was it even safe to move yet? Or did the violent vile monsters continue to fire upon each other.

It was something she would never admit, preferring to act higher and make others -Shaine, as of late- believe she was all around experienced with tough or dangerous situations, make them see she was hard enough to deal with what ever was thrown her way like any strong demon should be. Experienced and well knowledgeable about the warfare between demons and humans, confident that the demons had pulled through because they were far superior. In truth... after arriving to this world late into the war when most of the damage was already done Isabella had been sheltered from this by her position, until going off on her own she had never even seen a human face-to-face which was an embarrassing fact. The demoness had never been in a battle, instead sticking on the side lines and picking up information as she went along- she would have never imagined it to be this bad. Until recently she had also fully believed in herself and her race for pulling out on top by being the dominant of the two sides. Now? She was just shell-shocked, scared, and unable to see how any other demon could ever react any differently then she was right now in such a situation, such a war- it made her wonder if maybe the element of surprise did have something to do with defeating the humans.

The colony wouldn't have to worry about demons for the next little while, such an attack would have scared every single scampering thing from the city for at least a few days. Isabella wanted nothing more then to follow them, getting out of this place was the only thing on her startled mind but even now as she snapped her fingers beside both ears there was only a light sound picked up from the one that was ringing. Staying here was a death wish, getting up was a gamble- hungry, in pain and tired Isabella was in no state to keep going but she knew she had to be on the move or end up like the lesser that had risked and given his life for her. Leaving the city was out of the question, even if in this madness it was her best bet she couldn't be caught out in the open until her hearing had healed completely. But where would she go? There was no chance of taking refuge in a building of any sort now that all within reasonable distance had crumbled to the ground flinging up dust and debris in their path.

It was a good thing the demon peeked out through her feathers when she did, being unable to pick up on a light sound such as the heartbeat of a human right it was incredibly lucky she saw the wonderer before he saw her due to the sharp-shooting weapon he sported. Crouched, although he was clumsily moving due to some sort of leg injury she didn't know which side he was from and didn't care. Perhaps the human had headed over to seek refudge in her hiding spot, which would suggest gunfire was still active but he wasn't moving particularity fast. That was, until his head turned to lock on her eyes for a split second, weapon rising up but it was much to late- by then Isabella had already batted it aside and grabbed him pulling him down to the ground with her, when he let out a short scream it was cut off by a hand clamped over his mouth. The feeling of sinking her teeth into something, it was so comforting right now especially something as warm and soft as a human neck.

Time went by quickly for Shaine as he sat in the back of that Armored Personnel carrier- Even as they shifted onto the massive elevator bunker that lowered the vehicles back down to the vehicle bay and he didn't even realize the two medics crouching before him- Tearing his vest off to work at the two wounds he had on his chest until he finally looked down. He had been shot twice in the combat. Was it a surprise..? No. He had probably been shot more than twice but the rush of adrenaline hadn't even allowed him to notice such a thing- His chest taking a beating with its' armor plate in it- Allowing only two bullets to pass through which succeeded in digging only two inches into his chest- Center mass. Had they continued forward and hadn't used most of their energy trying to punch through the armor plate he would likely be dead right now and he didn't even seem to respect that. The only thing on his mind was Isabella. How could he just leave without checking on her? How could he just leave her like that without a care in the world- Tunnel vision on one thing and forget one of the more important thing?

Suddenly his legs felt like jelly and exhaustion slammed into him like a sledgehammer- Blackness consuming his vision as he'd lean back against the padded wall of the carrier. He wasn't dead at-least.. Just so tired. He had barely slept the night before and the adrenaline rush had used almost all his body's energy and running on no food and not having drank anything for almost a day the effects of the battle were beginning to take their toll on him until he suddenly found himself awake in his room- Chest wrapped in bloodied bandaging with his SVD rifle with splattered blood across its' stock from where he had been shot resting in against the wall paired closely with a plate of cold meat loaf, mashed potatoes, and gravy next to his bed with four two liter bottles of water waiting for him finished off only by a doctors note reading 'Eat up and drink up.'

And eat and drink he did to the point where he almost puked before he hobbled out of his room and called together the Colony's council of military leaders- Resting in against his SVD Rifle at the 'War' Table which was really a detailed map on a table marked with demon sightings and demon hot spots as-well as other Colony positions. Nothing too fancy and that's when he began speaking "Yesterday while soldiers came to get me out- Which I appreciate even though I didn't need it- We were ambushed by what we can only assume to have been Reapers. We fought forward to a building stronghold- Losing one soldier in the process and after gaining fire superiority we began to pull back. While leaving the city one of our APCs was struck by either a missile, rocket, anti-tank Mine, recoiless rifle, or some other anti-tank weapon and exploded instantly- The round hit the vehicles ammunition rack when it exploded within. We lost the entire APC crew and infantrymen in the APC- Eighteen deaths from that. Nineteen deaths total with four wounded- One of which was myself as I have been made aware of. I saw you called up a bomber which dropped some toys- Good call for wiping out the fighters. But we need to locate the reaper camp so for now, no one goes into the city except myself. I want scout platoons being deployed on the outskirts of the city and further out into the wastelands- Preferably scout sniper platoons- To scout out those areas for a reaper encampment. They never travel far away from our camp and the fact they ambushed us hints at them likely being nearby."
