"Your way of thinking is... too complicated." Isabella mumbled in a guarded tone because the emotion, the heart in his words spoken was scaring her more then a human weapon ever could and more then such things ever should. Things she had never thought about before and never really wanted to, it was only the lesser demons that actually couldn't think past their short mind but the higher demons that simply strived not to. Emotions and inner conflict, doubt in ones self and caring for others- it was all a form of weakness that while couldn't be pushed away completely had to be faught with in order to preserve a strong demonic state of mind. Stupid human thinking and emotions... they were starting to get to her, break down everything she had worked for so long to build herself up. The effects of your actions? No one had time to ponder on those when a decision and move needed to be made. She rarely did, and sure as hell this way of life had kept her around long enough. Happy? Maybe not always, but alive at least. What about if they hurt others? Broke lives apart? What about when the actions of others effect your life? The demoness had never run into the effects of her own choices as Shaine had, never had to see the face of a life she's ruined or let her guard down enough to be affected by such things.
It was too complicated because Isabella didn't understand it but didn't want to, she was sure if he continued to talk it would be overwhelming. If this continued, she might actually start... feeling sympathy for Shaine and trying to see things from his point of view. Maybe even take in a bit of his pain, feel it for herself even if it wasn't understood. The thought was horrifying, caring for another let alone a human in ways she couldn't even handle herself, her own mind and complex array of emotions. She shifted slightly letting out a light breath and something wet brushed her cheek, drawing a hand away from her chest Isabella brushed the tear on her shoulder she didn't know had fallen until now. Part of her mind instantly freaked out screaming it was rain but of course that wasn't true, so the simple explanation was that the tear belonged to the strong, confident, bold... maybe a bit pained human her wings were wrapped around. "Just... Just stop talking."
The tone in itself must have been shocking, because rather then a growl or a snarl, something of a bark or an order, no... her words were... a whimper. As if he had physically caused her pain, as if she was emotionally hurt. "Sleep." She said no more but instead returning the warm hand to her chest and wrapping it around his again, resting her head against the human-pillow Isabellas eyes drifted closed only half way. She could see bits of the room around them through an image shattered by her eyelashes but also off in some way... The demoness refused to believe what was in plain sight which was she was their were tears formed in her half-lived eyes. There was no reason to cry, other then feeling the pain of another which she had only done once and never wanted to do again- crying was as unnatural to demons as the rain was when they chose to hide their heart and emotions away so it was a rare sight that she faught to hide by tucking her chin down because it would surely make no sense to the human. He would probably just think her stomach was in pain or something along those lines. Despite telling him to stop talking, as her mind started to quiet down like a computer shutting off Isabella asked a question she would not stay awake long enough to hear the answer too. "Will you get any sleep tonight, what with a demon so close at hand?"
