The Demonlution

The beast reared back when attacked, its raven coloured blood splattering across the road in ridiculous amounts as it let out a bellow of pure fury and pain- the only two things this breed of demon ever understood and acted upon. It swayed for a minuet after lurching over and throwing up what seemed like more blood in long stringy strands before it fell hard on its side. The bullet had clearly puncture something in its thick neck because with its head pressed against the side walk and its double-jawed mouth wide open each rough breath could be heard and seen as its side rose and fell. Isabella knew the thing was far from done, although the shooter had made a good choice shooting it from afar she half wondered if they had enough mind to finish it off from the same distance. She assumed her position was hidden, as she could see the smoke but still was not fired at. She intended to keep it that way. She dare not move or take a loud breath still watching because something told her the beast was much to big to be taken down that easily.

And she was right, although that probably wasn't to her advantage. As the thing pushed itself up quicker then the attacker could respond or fire again it let out a shriek and bellowed in a random direction. First it headed for the building Shaine had perched himself on in clear intention to scale it, its jaws open and trailing but as it picked up another scent it changed direction without skidding to a stop. It only took Isabella a moment to realise what scent it had picked up but that moment was a deadly wait because as it placed both large front paws on the top of her shelter -crunching the top and shattering the windows, pressing the metal frame down- she only had time to straiten up and whip around. She was met with double faced open jaws, thousands of long tiny white teeth, and a long grey tongue as the thing shrieked at her. In that moment, Isabellas thoughts scrambled away and she snarled back, lashing out a clawed hand to swipe the thing across the snout before it could strike forward and sink those teeth into her whole form. The effect must have been one of more shock then pain itself because the thing scrambled back a step and shook its shaggy head. The demoness fluffed out both wings opening them to full size with no time to think about the pain and when the beast bellowed again she hissed back, standing her ground. It was a demon thing, any human watching would have thought her crazy to be standing down a creature four times her size and having a hissing contest with it, but Isabella was acting on that fiery demon inside rather then her mind. The thing roared again, its cries growing more scratched and scrangled with the wound through its neck and it lurched forward again to uphale more blood and Isabella hissed back once again. Maybe a thought passed behind its eyes, but it was highly unlikely as the thing whirled around and barrelled for the building Shaine had perched himself on, scaling it with raspy breaths and reared up to full height when it pulled itself over dispite the rifle that was probably waiting for it. It opened its jaws wide again at the sight of the soft human and ripped forward.

Shaine watched as it lurched forward- Copious amounts of blood pouring from the beast all over the street and when it ran for his building he recoiled backwards- Leaning in against the side of the guard rail. This was about to get interesting- very, very interesting- And then it ran away to.. What? He spotted Isabella puffing her wings up and everything at the demon as it was exposed and that's when he fired once more- HIs bullet tearing through the air with a 'crack' as it whipped by the beast and Isabella to slam into the street until it went straight back for Shaine but no.. No no, Shaine wasn't having any of this.

He was tired of this beats and its' games, obviously it hunted man and demon alike and saw no difference in them. Maybe this thing would have been considered a bear in the demon world but for him it was just considered a nuisance and even more, a pest- Shown by the fact that instead of running away and to his shelter Shaine hooked his boots in the Guard rail and without a single drop of fear in his eyes Isabella could see him suddenly lean all the way over the side of the building.

A strained grunt would leave his lips as his boots and feet remained hooked in the railing- Keeping his body afloat awkwardly at the angle as he literally hung almost mid air from the building with his Dragunov rifle held in his good hand. One handed shot and to him the weapon was like a massive handgun at the moment and with the beast roaring up the side of the building towards him he just fired three times from the rifle.

The first bullet would crack by the beast and slam into the pavement below while the second bullet would just graze its' right shoulder- BY pure luck the third bullet came straight on and unless the beast managed to tear itself away and avoid the bullet the large, armor piercing slug would hopefully slam straight into the top of its' skull at the awkward angle- SLamming and shattering the skull with a loud, sickly crunch as the bullet was flattened out just a tad by the impact of the skull and would likely continue down into the demon's body through its' throat until it came to a halt by jamming into its' collar bone- Hopefully that would be enough to stop the demon if the bullet even hit the thing and or maim it horridly enough to bring it down so he could get into his little hide bunker but even more.. Why had Shaine fired at the beast when it went for her instead of running? The shot likely would have hit it square in the back if it didn't turn so suddenly to go after him.

Did he try to save her?

Isabella looked up at what had ripped the monsters attention from her and caught sight of Shaine hanging there with the gun. For a moment, she was absolutely sure he was going to shoot her standing there but then noticed he had much, much bigger problems. The beast took the bullet head on and as it sunk in it didn't seem to take any effect for a moment, with its jaws stretched wide it looked as though it just might swallow the human whole. Then its grip on the building was released as the bullet ripped through and shattered its skull inside, wreaking what ever small brain it had and it free fell hitting the ground with a thick sickening crunch. Its muscles continued to twitch and ripple for a moment before it fell still, letting out a low rumble. Isabella had watched the whole scene even though it took place with the course of only a few seconds, he had hit the demon in perhaps one of the best places- but the human probably already knew that from experience. Her mind was clicking away, trying to process the whole incident because something didn't quite click. The beast had been coming for her, they had a stand off and then... It almost seemed like Shaine had drawn its attention on perpous. But that didn't make any sense. Not shooting her to pay back the favour of not killing him, that she could register a bit as maybe a human thing and eventually shrug it off. Deliberately saving her ass? No, she couldn't even process why he had done it so that must not have been it. He must have had a different reason.

She stood there quiet for a moment looking up at the human who was still hanging upside down. Oddly enough, she didn't fear being shot by him as much she did he would come down and try to talk to her. In fact, Isabella didn't fear the weapon he held at all just because he held it. The human had had multiple opportunities to shoot her and didn't, so instead of standing there like an idiot or running away again, Isabella walked over to the fallen beast and crouched beside its head. It wasn't breathing, death came almost instantly when it hit the ground although black blood continued to pool around it. She ran a hand down its rough snout, mumbling something in another tongue. These things were ruthless, murderous and animalistic to each other as well as anything else. But she didn't remember them always being like that, something about this land rotted these poor creatures docile minds from the moment they stepped through the rift. Not many were bright enough to go back, and yet they kept coming through. She moved its head to the side to close its large mouth and pull the long fur over its eyes in respect before straitening up and looking directly above her to where Shaine was hanging. Shit. Should she say something? If she didn't it seemed there was a 50/50 chance that he would say something and a 50/50 chance he would just leave without a word. She wasn't really sure which was preferred. After a moment she spoke, calling up to him the only thing that was on her mind even though she was probably going to get another fucking riddle answer. "Did you draw it away from me on perpous?"

"Yeah." The single word left his lips before he twisted backwards to land back on the roof. Well he had done what he had come to do and even further even done more to make an impact on the beautiful demon's life and with those actions he was pleased. Pleased enough to unlock the doors as he made his way down the five story building until the last door swung open and he walked out of it casually- Rifle slung diagnolly across his back "Good art." the two plain- Dull words were huffed before a loud 'Ting' echoed outwards- His fingers flicking a brass cartridge from his rifle towards her almost as if offering it as a souviener. Of course though he didn't stay to explain and quite frankly in his mind he had stayed too long to remain comfortable anyways and the sun was dropping.. Dropping down and down- Spreading its' rosy fingers across the sky and lighting the horizon up with brilliant, flaming orange and red rays that cast their glow of dimming warmth across the buildings and the streets. He wouldn't make it back to base before it was dark.

He knew he wouldn't and he couldn't even if he ran and night? Night was the demon's time. Demons ruled that night and were emboldened by the fact humans could barely see at night unless they had the technology for it and it left them vulnerable- Shaine didn't have much hope at all for making it through the night but he'd still try to do his best to get out and maybe ISabella would even realized why he was moving so quickly suddenly- Moving at a quick, brisk walk down the street. He couldn't be caught in the city of all places- This city would be drawling with Demons when night came and it was a virtual suicide pact for a human to stay in the city unless he or she had a bunch of very well armed friends and they were backed up into a corner with only one way attack the humans from that they could easily attack but for one human? He could easily be over-ran especially considering his rifle wasn't the type made for head on fights and only held ten rounds a magazine. If more of the beasts he just killed came he would be forced to shoot himself before anything and for a man as strong and bold as Shaine suicide before being torn up by demons was always an option.

Die screaming in agony and being torn apart and played with like a basketball in a game or die a silent, painless death that would ensure you felt not a single thing and only saw blackness. It was the best option for anyone in his place but he'd put it off and see what he could do to escape possibly or just hide.

"Yeah." Isabella scowled and went to ask something else, but by then he had twisted up and disappeared to come down. Was he leaving? She assumed so, he had no reason to stick around and with night quickly branching upon them it soon would not be a safe place for the human. No matter how 'safe' he thought this city was, with all the high powered weapons and advantages during the day, night time was when the demons would come and walk along the city right under their noses. Roam in the shadows that the pale moon light couldn't touch, the small ones simply shuffling through the city rubble and the big ones drawn in by such for a meal. What he didn't know, was that night time was one of the worst times for a demon in this world. They were used to bright nights almost as much as the day, and the cool darkness setting in was incredibly unnatural. It seemed however, this was the time when many humans were at their weakest so many quickly adapted to the distaste to trade for searching the moon-lit nights for an easy snack.

But Isabella was never worried about that, she was bigger then most of the night crawlers that seemed to make their ways into the city anyway and had a big enough bark to scare even a group of them off. Because that's just what they did, attack in groups like feral dogs assaulting camps and human populations alike. In fact that was one thing that gave demons an automatic nasty name upon arriving in this world, there tendency to group together and go after small populations just for the sake of a laugh or meal. While this was not exactly frowned upon by the higher-ups, Isabella herself had never fancied travelling in groups instead preferring to go alone after individuals like she did with Shaine. The memory made her twitch a smile. As the human man burst through the building door and flicked something at her, Isabella didn't understand his words but her attention was rather focused on the object she caught between two fingers with a sharp movement. She examined it for a moment wondering why he had tossed it to her -or perhaps just in her direction- before looking up and noticing he was leaving rather quickly. "Hey!" She called and ran after the human on silent steps in contrast to his quick loud ones. Her brows furrowed, because she knew that A. He was probably going to try and avoid being stuck out here during the night, a death wish for any lone human and B. His rushed steps and breaths were so loud he was going to attract every small sharp eared demon within a five block radius. She caught up to him, walking beside but a few feet away at the same pace as Shaine. "Why did you do it?"

"Anything that is willing to go after a demon and is enough to scare a demon will most certainly go after a human and will most certainly terrify humans. Even more it was going to go after you if it wasn't for me." He drew in controlled, deep breathes as he walked- Making his way down the road towards a tower-like building. A good place to hold up considering there was only one, narrow path for demons to get up and he could certainly hold them there. The larger demons that were bigger than Isabella couldn't get up and if demons Isabella's size did try to get up he could shoot them and use their bodies to his advantage to help block off the path up to it. All for tactical reasons- He just hoped they didn't continue their seige all night and up into day in trying to get an easy, juicy human meal and with Isabella walking near him he'd drew in a deep breath "If there are things that hunt you out here too you should come with me into the tower."

Wait. Did he just.. Offer to protect her? Part of him cared for her in secret- Imagine that, a human showing emotions for a demon that would likely end up being his own fall and the fall of their entire race but it didn't stop him from caring as he kicked the bottom door into the tall radio tower in- Aiming his rifle around inside the room before turning a flashlight on to illuminate the narrow stairway "It'll be safe up here and anything that tries to come up will get shot bad. They keep coming eventually their own bodies will block the way and so forth. Their bodies block the way they'll give up and by morning we should be able to pick our way out through the corpses. Anyways. It's up to you. I'm holding up in there for the night- Got plenty of food, water, and ammunition in my backpack. Figure though you won't stay- Sure you have better things to do than to waste your time on a human which, I completely understand and it doesn't bother me."

Slowly the man would make his way up the half crumbled stairs- Gradually rising up and up and up until they were (If she followed) In the top room to the radio tower about fifty stories high. They were pretty high up and anything coming up those stairs would have a very, very unhappy time when they met Shaine's high powered rifle at the other end for an explosive and deadly greeting.

When he offered to share the tower, Isabella couldn't help but make a snide remark back and point out the slightly obvious. "The only thing that would try to attack me at night walks on two legs and carries a gun." Her tone was dry, as if trying to point out and make him remember that they were enemies but... she didn't even put up a thought of hesitance in the matter. The thought of spending a night in the same place as him was a bit unnerving, fearful that he slip into that that intimidating casual confidence again but it was worth the risk. She was going with him, if only to ask more questions and satisfy her own devious curiosity. She half wondered why he had offered to share shelter, but figured he believed he had a better chance of survival with a demon holding down the base as well. Well. He definitely did have a better chance of not being picked off by a pack, but seemed to forget that Isabella herself was a demon still very capable of slicing him if she so felt like it. Although she probably wouldn't unless he really ticked her off... this human was so interesting.

Better things to do? Not really. Isabella followed him up the stairs, taking them two at a time in leaps and a quick pace all the way up and quickly passed him moving in front instead. Her tail held inches above the ground and as she passed the human the long thin tip of it whipped against his leg sharply. "The thing is," She spoke not looking back at him. "When a demon dies it gives off a scent that attracts others. The more you kill, the easier demons farther away will be able to tell were we are. That impaling head thing is stupid by the way, I don't know if your trying to scare them off but it just draws beasts and runners in." Her tone was somewhat scolding, on edge as if she expected him to snap back or suddenly attack. "So you can keep shooting them and build up a body barrier all you want, but as long as they know there's something behind that barrier the're going to keep coming and trying to get through it." It was interesting, these human tactics that they used against demons without stopping to see the reality of the situation, how the demons actually reacted. Such as lighting up a camp to try and keep the demons in darkness when in fact they preferred the light. Stupid squishy indifferent creatures.

Isabella continued to trail up until they reached the top of the tower and she scanned the room quickly. It looked as though it had been untouched by human or demon in months, although a few papers were scattered across the floor. She headed over and picked one up scanning it quickly but it made no meaning to her so she tossed it and kicked up a few more- it became evident that demons just liked making a mess. She glanced back over to the human male probably cutting him off if he was talking with her own question. "What is your name?" She wasn't sure why she was asking it, no human and few demon had ever gotten such a casualty but she wanted to know... and dismissed it off in her own mind as simple curiosity.

"Originally we had a fifty ton bomb near the heads in hopes the demons would gather around the heads out of curiosity or fear- Whichever works. We detonated one bomb and they caught on real quick- Probably the black mushroom cloud in the sky that startled and alerted a lot of the demons but in general they don't always come here. We're a very strong group- And all under ground. You'd be surprised what humans can build under ground- Ten tiers of stable floors thick enough to hold ten times the amount of weight they hold right now to ensure they are stable enough. Every single level is a layer of defense incase demons come in- Doors that could with stand extreme heat and blasts keeping each level separated incase we were sieged and half to pull back. I am sure you see humans as stupid but it's really quite remarkable what we can do when we're in a bad spot and right now we're in a bad spot." He'd cock his head to the side as her tail whipped against his leg but he was unphased before he sat down at the stairs with a soft sigh- Rifle leveled down them

"Each floor has a years worth of dried food and water on it to ensure we can withstand siege as-well. It's quite remarkable these bases and how far down they go thanks to the fear humans were under- And then you have the very. very few men like me who have no fear and lead them. My name is Shaine- Lieutenant Shaine. Co-Leader of this group next to Commander Samuel. I've been fighting wars for quite some time and I know you demons probably don't understand this but it's remarkable the weapons us humans can make to combat a threat." He actually flashed a smile- A -SMILE- at her with the words before chuckling.

"I told you about the nuclear or atomic bombs that vaporized bodies and killed many, many others who weren't even very close. A small bomb dropped from a single airplane believe it or not. I never told you about the Hydrogen bomb if I remember what it was cold or the Tsar bomb. You see, since that bomb us humans were locked in an arms race with eachother. One country- AMerica which you are standing in and another Russia mass produced nuclear weapons of many, many proportions as-well as assault rifles, tanks, and aircraft. We had enough weapons together to arm every single other person in the world with a rifle and a thousand rounds of ammunition to kind of put it to scale. We had enough bombs- Just regular bombs- TO blow the world up a thousand times over probably. It's crazy isn't it? If more demons come then let them come. I will keep shooting and they can keep coming all they want. Eventually they'll get tired just like humans get tired of killing- UNless you're HItler. we had a human on the planet years and years ago who killed over six million men, women, and children and caused one of the most catastrophic wars the world may ever see since this war. Crazy right?"

Isabella wondered just how much of a bad spot they could be in, this group certainly was better off then most human bases in the area. She already knew they had resided under ground, it was common knowledge among the demon league before they fell. In fact they had been trying to work out a way to get around that, the bright minds and leaders of her race that was until they started to go one by one. While there certainly were ten times more demons then humans on this earth alone but when it came to the clear thinkers that were left? Isabella hadn't been in communication with one in months. The way he was talking about demons, she was certain he and his informants had no idea actual situation her race was in right now.

Isabella stared back at him blankly when he smiled at her -yes, not at himself or at something else, but actually at the demoness- and didn't know how to react. Shaine. What an odd name, it was incredibly human sounding because she had never heard of it before from demon tongue. She sat beside him on the ground, listening to his chatter and tussled her wings into a comfortable position. "Wait wait, one human killed over six million? How does that even work, how did he even have enough time in his lifespan to do that?" Her brows furrowed, wondering why a human would ever want to attack so many others. Certainly this Hitler human didn't have a personal vendetta against every single one of them, maybe they were a different species of human and thats why he picked them off like demons picked off pests and runners in there home world. Then again, she had never seen different species of humans. Sure, they would vary in skin tone and hair color and eye color, but they were all equally stupid in her mind so she saw no reason to classify them as different species. "That is crazy. During the war, was the whole race against him? How long did the war last, did he use one of your new clear bombs to take that many people out?" She only saw humans as a united race, working together against her own because that was the only way it had been for as long as she remembered in this world but this was fascinating to her and Isabella listened like she was being told a most fascinating story.

This world had always intrigued her, but Shaine was the only human she had ever come across that fascinated her as much as the objects and history his scattered world was made up of. She leaned back as she talked and sitting on the top of the stairs, ended up lying back on the ground with her hands behind her head in an oddly relaxed position for a demon to be around with an armed human. Her tail twitched idally, and she kept a listen for sound of anything coming up the stairs but doubted much would be making its way into town for a little bit. It was when the night cooled that the demons really got on the move.

"He did it in under ten years actually my dear. By that time the Nuclear bomb hadn't been invented- He used concentration camps and soldiers. He funneled in all the people he didn't like into these camps and worked them to death or executed them- By gas or by hand. I know Demons can be cruel but humans at times can be just as cruel. He killed over Six million in probably six-seven years to be honest while fighting a massive war on four fronts. He had an amazing army fighting for him- He probably could have dominated the world if he hadn't attacked one of the biggest countries in the world bordering him. In-fact, he could have possibly forced American Soldiers off European soil." He certainly had a taste for history as a dry chuckle left his lips- Outside the rosy fingers of dawn disappearing into night as all the creatures of the shadows and night began to do their things and in the distance, the humans did their own things- An occasional rifle shot rolling outwards paired with a trip flare in the distance that illuminated the sky.

"The big flaw about the humans and what is so amazing about us gathering together to fight your people- The demons- Is this. We're always too busy killing each other. People worship these gods and all that like they're actually real- I believe in a god but I won't go that far. Christians who believe in Jesus killed Muslims who believed in Allah and Muhammad for so many years long, long ago and in the modern day after World War 2 and all that Muslims began to kill other Muslims and people not of their religion. we as a race were divided- Fighting our own religious wars, Silent wars of not cooperating with another because of their type of government, and wars for natural resources and land. No one would have imagined demons would come into the world and unite us but now Muslims work side by side with others and mind you, it's not all the Muslims who killed others- Only extremists who turned cars into bombs that could kill hundreds in one single blast. It's amazing what the human mind can conjure up when it wants to hurt another."

He went silent before turning back to face her- Laying down at her side actually with his rifle pointing at the door "Tell me about your people."

Isabella tried to keep up, but she was getting words thrown at her left and right that she didn't know. Concentration camps, Christians, Muslims, Allah, it slightly upset her that he was using context she wasn't familiar with but her pride was too high to inquire about them. She knew about religion of course but not the specifics, from her point it was just a belief in some higher dentity being that had created this world, a few groups chose to believe different things. Simple as that. Humans wanted something to believe in, to know where they go after they die although she didn't understand why. Isabella herself of course had questioned it before, but like many demons she was raised with the belief that when you die, parts of you go into the earth and parts of you are eaten, but if there's more then that... you have to be patient enough to wait until you die to find out. Most demons shared this common thought, there was no conflict between such a thing as it was in her mind foolish because no one really knew. They were all equally waiting to find out.

Isabella closed her eyes listening to him talk and a few of her earlier questions vanished as she caught on to the context, starting to understand. "So they killed each other," she mumbled without opening her eyes and scrunched a hand up in her hair while both were back there behind her head as a supporting pillow. "Over beliefs of religion? Its not really anyone's judge on what others besides themselves think, and it doesn't particularity seem like a harmful subject at that." But then again, she was just stating her opinion and didn't really care if she offended Shaine. However his next question completely caught her off guard, she scrunched up her eyebrows making certain that she had heard him right. "My people?" Why did he want to know? Part of her wondered if this was a military tactic but... the stronger part of her felt like he just wanted to know. Curiosity, interest, much like hers for his world.

"My people... are not as complicated as yours. All my life the boundaries between species have been the same, but our history says we started out in different parts of the world and as we advanced in different places eventually we came into contact. Four main higher species; Jak'ar Hereif, Riboone, Corfanious, and Jermin'e." When she said the names, her tone went thick with a slight of demonic tongue again because she didn't know the human translation to them... if there was one. "Past scripts and stories tell that when the four species met, they had a great war over land because each wanted to keep expanding and growing. But the war lasted for many, many years. Even though they were all completely different in culture and life style, they were matched in power among each other. The war upset our world, turning the skies black with grief every night but that was the way it had to be, until eventually Riboone dominated above all others. However instead of taking the largest and best of the lands, the leaders divided the boundaries equally among all four and agreed they would stay as such, so another war might never have to upset our world again." She wasn't particularity interested in the history, but this was a story that all minded demons knew and she recited it as if almost from a book. "Since then, and in my life time, we have never had a great war again in our home land. The four species stayed completely separate, most coming into contact would end up in clashes because its against law to cross the boundaries of your kind. Lessers like the beast and squall of course could come and pass as they pleased, they don't have a mind to know any better. We stick to our own beliefs too, of what happens after we die or our morals in life. I don't even know what the other three believe in, only of my own which my elders taught me; when you die everything you were is returned to the ground were if may be of use to the next generation."

She paused for a moment, until now Isabella had been talking rather uncertain to him as she had never had to explain this to anyone. It was also a bit droned but now... she added a few things that played in her mind. If he had given a response, she would have cut it off and continued. "Your race is... quite unique. Upon coming here we had a hard time understanding everything you do, and still do. Our people, we're not too different you see. You may think of many of my race as mindless, monstrous, violent creatures bent on ripping anything they come in contact to apart like the one you shot earlier. But the thing is, that's not what we are at all. The majority of demons that walk your earth now are lessers, they don't have an advanced brain like we do. They don't communicate, we understand only little of their behaviour, and there just as dangerous to us as they are to you." She had closed her eyes again, speaking from the tip of her mind now even thought she didn't know what was making her say it. "When we came to this world... all four species came but unlike you we stayed divided. Fighting among ourselves and humans we caused more destruction then we intended too, we just wanted to make a new home for ourselves in this land, we needed to make a home because... we learned that when a higher demon comes through the rift, they can't go back." She mumbled the last part and it was painful to say, striking a sensitive part. It was evident in her voice that she really missed home. "Lesser species, they can travel in and out as they please but for some reason for us its a one way door. And unlike what we previously thought, this world isn't as suited to us as we thought. We should have seen it coming, with the change in the lesser demons attitude in this world. It makes them more aggressive, more violent but didn't affect the higher species like me at first. Then it started to take a toll, so many of them couldn't cope I guess and there minds started to... even our leaders, the strongest who were leading against the humans, they-" She cut off suddenly, because that wasn't something she was keen to devolge to this human although she had been close to letting it slip. So instead she sighed and opened her eyes, looking over to him to see if he had a response to the long speech she had practically just given, talking to fast and firmly to let him cut in during the whole thing if he had tried.

"Yes ma'am they killed eachother. Before you came there was a group of people known as the Islamic State of Iraq trying to form a Caliphate- AN empire in a sense, they all believed in a different god than everyone else and they began their conquest, killing and executing hundreds of surrendering soldiers and others. They were so hated by everyone not even a terrorist organization like Al Queda- Which was another religion extremist group- would want to do anything with them. No one wanted the ISIS People so they basically declared war on everyone. We bombed them night and day- Best air forces in the world pounding them constantly with bombs and the country we were trying to help fight ISIS was too fucking weak and incompetent to do anything. They're like a child- Too dependent on someone else to do things for them." He'd shake his head a few times with a heavy sigh before turning his head to peer at her as she began to speak about her own people.

"Why are your people here then? If things on your planet were divided up evenly to prevent another war why come to another planet and another way of life where everyone is raised and grown for war almost? All the armies are attoned to fighting and all the armies have the top weaponry in the world? If so tired of war why start another one?" His head cocked to the side in mild curiosity before he continued to listen to her talk- Taking notes of certain things that caught his attention before the man spoke up once more "Your leaders are failing. That is one thing about humans we might have an edge over you in. Not one person leads everything- The country you stand in now? Has a cycle of leaders- If one leader dies another steps up quickly as is his duty. If you sever the head and kill all the leaders there are still military leaders to take charge and each country is set up the same way almost. It's a cycle that makes severing the head to a snake off extremely hard because we're like Hydras- mythical creatures from old, old roman mythology. Mythology meaning stories and things made. But a Hydra is hard to kill- YOu cut one head off two more sprout up in its place. Cut both off, the same thing happens again except then there would be four leaders. We had a president- a leader- assassinated. Our country didn't collapse because the vice president- Or co-leader was already on standby to step up and take charge."

A few thought nods were given at his choice of words before he questioned her own "You know if the greater demons like yourself signed a mutual treaty with the humans it is doubtful there would be a war still. We'd both be fighting the same enemy- Lesser demons and even more, we could both work on finding a way to get you back to your home. Humans are clever. You ever see the sun in the sky? We've traveled far out towards that planet- We managed to build things that allowed us to see thousands of light years into other planets all across our universe. With research and study we could possibly help you demons figure out a way to go back home or live in peace with us instead of you demons trying to find a way to get back home while fighting a war with the humans."

"We came because our world wasn't big enough any more." Isabella replied simply, wondering if he could understand. "It was dying, overcrowded and burdened with too many children to support. With the vow to not strike war again among the four, there was little more we could do except hope to expand our domain elsewhere to demon unclaimed territory. We divided the lands thousands of years ago but only recently had they been pressed to the edges. So naturally, with an opportunity to expand- even slightly at that, we took it. The thing was, I suppose we underestimated your species ability to fight back." The admittance was a little odd coming from her lips, as if she was actually suggesting that humans weren't weak pathetic useless creatures after all. There was no hint in her voice that suggested she believed they were better then demons in any way despite his chatter on trying to prove his race had the upper hand.

She paused for a moment, wondering if he was aware of what she was about to say and what he would think of it. "We did not come in search of war, most of the first came through curiosity with a small rift open and explored the land far before you even knew we were here. Maybe if we had shown ourselves a bit sooner the destruction of this world could have been avoided... or prevented further because to be honest, your race was taking a toll on this earth." The last part wasn't part of the main point, but Isabella thought it was worth adding. "Anyways, as you probably know demons made the first blow but it wasn't really us. It was the lessers. The rifts got out of hand, you only have one here but back home hundreds at a time could be opened and sometimes even at random- its like a chain reaction. When the first one was opened, they started popping up all over the place until eventually we couldn't keep all of them them under watch. And somehow, in that confusion lesser demons started getting through. They came out before our higher race had the chance, but when we finally tried to get in contact I suppose it was too late because most couldn't tell the difference between lesser and higher. Or didn't want to. We were met with firearms either way and... you know the story from there. It turned violent, we ended up attacking for the land, bent on wiping you out so we could take it over."

As she spoke something scrambled up the stairs into, it was about two feet in length with a long thin slimy body and walked on six legs. As it pulled itself up stair after stair until Isabella and Shaine came into its sight and it opened a wide black mouth to spit at them and started to scramble up the stairs at an increased speed. It drew Isabellas attention away from the conversation for only a moment but oddly enough she pushed Shaines gun away if he were to aim for the thing and as it came closer she reached out to flick it on the nose harshly. The effect was instant, the small lesser demon shook its head and recoiled as if it had actually been shot, and Isabella ran a hand down its slick slimy back almost affectionately- like one might do with a cat. "It seems we're not sharing the same common enemy at all, by the way you humans see it. Your race still groups us in all together as one big enemy to be shot down, and at this point were fighting two- humans and lesser demons. The only way this war is going to end how you originally thought it would, with a nuclear bang. Neither sides are open to negotiate, and as long as the two are still around each of our races are just going to keep attacking each other." Her eyes were set on the small demon as it seemed mentally torn between cooing up to her affection and trying to rip Shaine apart. Isabella thought briefly before adding something in a lighter quiet tone as opposed to the stiff, blunt one she had been using until now. "When you first saw me in the city, your first instinct was to shoot at me and that's just what you did. Its not bad really, just instinct as it was mine to go after you once you were unarmed. But your the first human who has ever stopped to speak to me, in fact your the first I've met to see the difference between me and this thing." She lifted her hand from the small lessers back watching it for a moment as it looked at her and blinked dark eyes, then it turned to Shaine and lunged at him in a spring with its mouth wide open showing hundreds of tiny teeth. Isabella was already one step ahead, in a flash she had her hand around its neck and there was a jerk, a light snap, and stillness of the little thing before she tossed its lifeless body down the stairs. "That's the first, no doubt there's going to be more in no time."

"You know that's ironic because we as humans have been looking for another planet that could sustain life for years and years because our own planet is becoming over-crowded. Our planet can support from Nine billion people to ten billion people. That is the carrying capacity of our planet- Or what our planet can provide us with Food and water wise. We're already at seven point five billion people and it was only forcing us to push harder to find another planet- From one over-crowded planet to another over-crowded planet. You see a skyscraper before? Massive building called it because it basically reaches up and touches the sky with its' height. We began building UP because we could no longer build OUT. There isn't enough space unless we wipe out the rest of our forests and that's only a temporary solution to out problem. SO we built up- Massive buildings could hold thousands of people. it's crazy isn't it? How people adapt to things. I find it funny, from one over-crowded planet to another over-crowded planet that is hostile." A dry chuckle left his lips this time as if he almost found the situation funny and well.. He kind of did. It was ironic the situation they were both in.

"Either way you would have likely been met with hostility. We've always known there were other things out there and people have wanted to bring them here- BUt at the same time didn't. We didn't know what would happen and honestly? Our governments don't always make the smartest choices and it is likely either way you would have been met by a hail of fire. It's sad to say it but when something foreign and scary looking comes into your planet and you're not too sure what it's going to do to you or your people or it's purpose your first instinct is to fight. Now the lesser demons may have caused it all but I do feel like the greater demons reaching out with treaties instead of things remaining like this would be better. If you think we've taken a toll on the planet a nuclear bomb takes a greater toll- Kills everything. Radioactive fallout- Basically poison- from the bomb poisons water supplies, causes sickness- Puking, internal hemorrhaging, cancer, and ultimately death. You can get it from anything- Animals and humans alike would mutate if they were in high areas of it. Nuclear war on a scale would wipe out the entire planet almost." A casual shrug was offered before he heard the scamper and instantly he lifted his rifle only to have its aim knocked to the side and have the man scurry backwards a bit in surprise

His eyes were locked on the lesser demon's own eyes and when she spoke he'd just nod "It's only Inst-INCT" his voice hitched up as it lunged for him and with a soft, metallic screech he suddenly drew a blade with his good arm- A one and a half foot long tanto-styled blade that could have possibly sliced the thing's head clean off if it hadn't been caught by Isabella and had its neck snapped and he just stood there with his blade at the ready "Well with you talking to me I'm sure I'll be quite distracted from trying not to be torn up. I barely sleep because I'm always paranoid. One-two hours of sleep a night at the maximum. It's nice to.. Sort of feel a little more relaxed." Wait.. He felt comfortable and relaxed near her even though she was a demon and he just watched her snap the lesser demon's neck?

Isabella seemed to be on the same thought track, because she gave him a quizzical look. Why was the human more relaxed in her presence? It almost annoyed her, Isabella herself used to facing a fearful and thrilling environment whenever she was around humans so the thought that this one could easily be calm and chattery struck her as a bit odd and... something of an insult to her pride. "Hey, don't forget I still have inch long claws that could shred you. Your one odd human if your relaxed in the presence of something that sees you as a meal." She grumbled but almost like a grumpy, upset child and there was no real threat to her tone. "Besides, I know my race well enough to know that will never happen. My leaders are proud but also not in there right minds it seems right now... What's left of them anyway." Isabella mumbled the last bit under her breath so he probably couldn't hear as she sat up on the top of the stairs rather then lying down because now she was sure they would start making there way up.

Sure enough there was a sharp noise, almost like a bark that echoed from down the stairs -Isabella immediately knew what it was and how it had been drawn in. They let out little yipps, calling to each other and cackling together a noise that made her eyes narrow. That pretty kitty she had just snapped and tossed down the stairs was part of a pack, probably quite a few although they would be easy enough to take down. Back at her home world they were rather peaceful creatures and affectionate at that, it was nice to find a group in your territory because young demons would often play with them. Here? They definitely weren't as bad as some of the other vicious demons when they were alone- they could even be docile at times. But in a pack... this was going to be a long and bloody night.

Something pulled at Isabellas mind making her scrunch up her brows in confusion, something he had said just a moment ago but didn't stop to ponder on it until now. "Wait, barely sleep? Humans need a healthy minimum of eight hours per rotation, right? What's this two hour business?" She was clearly very confused, not understanding how he could first of all function on so little sleep, but more importantly resist sleeps grip. There were of course rumours that humans could have trouble sleeping or even hold it off at times but they also ran in hand with the rumours that humans see moving pictures when there mind is at rest and that was just ridiculous. Still, she couldn't help but ask. Her tone was demanding, curiosity needing to be satisfied because of course Isabella always wanted to know everything. Not knowing and being confused made her uncomfortable and angry. "How do you put off sleep? How long can you go without it?"

"Hey don't forget this time I actually have weapons on me and can fight back in the form of a handgun, a hidden handgun, a combat knife, and a rifle." He snapped the words back at her- How would things have ended if he was still armed considering how hard he had fought her in that mall parking lot that one day? How bad could things have ended for both of them- Would they both be dead or one dead and the other horrendously maimed? He wasn't going to let her forget the fact he was disarmed when she took him down nor was he going to allow her to forget how hard he had fought even without weapons on him or anything he could generally use as a weapon. A testament to his deadliness and his will "Your leaders will negotiate eventually or be killed. They are trapped on here. What we do affects them too and a nuclear blast will affect them just as much as it will us because us? We're already underground in massive radiation and poison proof bunkers. Your kind aren't and neither are your leaders."

A casual shrug was offered- He did make a decent point right there. No doubt if the humans did go full scale nuclear war THOUSANDS of demons would be slaughtered- Hundreds of humans would die but sacrifices must be made for the better good in a sense. "We don't NEED eight hours- It's RECCOMENDED we get that much time. Humans can go for days without sleeping but without any sleep it makes them sloppy. Getting some sleep keeps them mildly aware of things around them. I can't sleep because I don't want to die asleep. I want to die fighting the demons if they attack you know? I will never be taken down without a fight. That's my motto in a sense and that's what I go by. Fight until the death if it comes to it and offer no mercy of any type." He'd lean forward at the yips below before lifting his rifle up to tenderly unscrew the scope from its' mount so he could look down a pair of iron sights on the rifle- SImply aiming down the stairs "nIghts like this I would never sleep."

Isabella scowled, of course she saw his point but he was clearly missing hers- then again he was human and if she didn't bluntly point it out he was bound to miss it. But she wasn't in the mood for trying to explain it to him any more, her short patience used up at the moment and she felt like talking to him could go from talking to an intellectual mind like herself to talking to a hatchling. It was incredibly annoying. She still sat on the edge of the stairs, the noises didn't startle her at all in fact if she had been back home they might have been soothing. Her state was clear and relaxed, although Isabella herself didn't notice it because if she had she would have definitely been questioning why it was possible to be this relaxed in the presence of an armed human.

She looked at Shaine long and hard for a moment, trying to figure out for the life of her what made this human so different from the weaklings she had met before. Of course, she had known from the first attack that he was a fighter to the end even when Isabella had been slashing his soft skin up and choking him out. It shouldn't have come as a surprise to hear his reasoning behind the lack of sleep or his 'motto' but it was still odd to hear because... it sounded like something that would come from a demons mouth. Go out with a bang, fighting until the last breath and always refusing to give up. "Yeah, whatever. You sure are an odd one." It didn't quite sound like an insult, more like a statement. "How good of an aim are you? If I step up front, are you going to end up shooting me?" She paused for a moment before the smallest trace of a smirk twitched in the corner of her lips. "By mistake, anyway."

There wasn't much time for an answer or to ponder on the question as the first few came in to sight up the stairs, they were the fastest of course and also the largest- the leaders so to speak. At about four feet in length each of them they were clearly not much ahead of the others as three of them moved up the stairs with slight struggle -short legs- and stopped upon coming into sight of the two. All yips and barks paused in quivering air for a moment before the largest one sprang forward and Isabella switched from relaxed to fighter mode in a split second.

------ Aaaaand feel free to control the demons too if you wish ------

How good of a show was he?! HAH! He almost wanted to brag at how he had gone to Scout sniper school and been through intense training- How he had eliminated fourt aliban fighters in fifteen seconds at a range of over a thousand yards with his service marksman rifle. He wanted to go back to base and pull out a drawer of his old metals and tabs that was a testament to his dedication and his deadliness in combat. But of course, she couldn't have understood any of that and as soon as the demon sprang for her he fired-

It was almost deafening to be firing a rifle of his in such a small confined space but he did- The bullet whipping straight past Isabella's face to slam into the leaping demon's side before exploding out the adjacent side in a misty spray of blood that tinted the dark air temporarily along with the orange flash in the room from his rifle firing. He was a good shot with a rifle he was comfortable with and he would show it to her- Part of him even wanted to accept her as he fired again- This time in-between her legs and had the bullet slam into a demon's face behind the second pack leader as that demon pack leader sprung straight for Isabella- Rows of gleaming, black teeth parted as it aimed to try and take a chunk out of her neck. A blunt, simple attack for a blunt, simple creature and easily counterable by the demoness

But even with these demons killed it wasn't going to be over. She could hear the patter of claws outside the tower and the sudden thunk as one slammed into the side of the tower. They were going to be sieged for the whole night in waves of demons weren't they?

"Alright Alright you don't need to show off!" Isabella snarled, in her thoughts the first close shot by her cheek may have been a mistake but with the one between her legs just barely passing her tail she was certain he was doing this on perpous. "I get the point!" If he kept this up she may just end up turning on him, the loud noise his bloody gun made was already turning her deft not to mention she didn't appreciate being shot at. A small smirk played on her lips for a moment before her tail whipped around to smack him in the leg just hard enough to leave a bruise. This simple act of revenge satisfied her, for now. Her hand snapped up to grab the pack leader around the neck and stop him in his leap but he was unfortunately stronger and heavier then she had anticipated, knocking her on her back before its teeth grazed her neck for a moment just being held off enough to avoid a break of the skin. Oh god, its breath reeked. She turned sharply slamming it into the ground along side her before biting back, sinking her teeth into its own throat to stabilize it long enough for a snap.

It was clear who had the upper hand in this situation, with his rifle Shaine had taken down twice the amount she had. It just went to show how effective their weapons were against the demons, as opposed to brute force. And yet still Isabella thought herself ten times better, stronger, superior in mind and attack in fact in every way to this human fighting along side. It was the demon thought process, there was no room for weakness in that strong predator bite of there's. No room to doubt they ever had anything but the upper hand, no room to give up a fight. It was only the slightly more human side of hers that did these things, the more logical side but in attack mode like this that side might as well not have been there.

After striating out and wiping the dark blood away from her mouth Isabella pushed the lifeless thing down the stairs were it fell a few steps. "Like I said, their just going to keep coming now." She pointed out roughly. "Are you sure your up for this all night?" She herself would have no problem getting out and staying the rest of the night demon attack free, but then again had already decided to stay with him and convinced herself it was purely for lack of boredom reasons. Still, her tone almost sounded like a challenge.

He watched as she slaughtered the pack leader and the rest scurried back down the stairs yipping madly to each-other. They were going to try and recover and attack again- Just how long it would take for them to recover and attack again was unknown but for the moment they were temporarily safe as Shaine lowered his rifle to open his bookbag- Pulling out five more magazines for his rifle as-well as three black hand grenades- Fragmentation grenades. Four bottles of gasoline with flares taped onto them and lastly three narrow concussive grenades- THe rest of the stuff in his bags were just food and bottles of water "Sweetheart I Got -ALl- night." and judging by the arsenal he had on him? He would be ready all night. But for any demons down at the bottom of the tower he -was- going to give them something to think about and be scared of as he lifted one of those concussive grenades up- Yanking the pin out.

Instantly a loud, metallic 'Ping' rolled outwards as the spoon to the grenade was ejected and he sent the tube-like metal structure rolling straight down the corridors of the stairs before she heard an almost deafening explosion below- Sharp and ear piercing, enough to temporarily stun Shaine and that concussive explosion was enough to go through the entire tower- She could almost imagine how deafening and painful it would have been for the demons below who were caught almost right next to the explosion- Signaled by the yipping and howling below. Not howls of anger- Howls of Agony. Raw Agony, that concussive grenade had done its' job. It may attract more nearby demons but if his rifle hadn't then god knew what would but hopefully that nasty surprise would be something for them that they wouldn't be forgetting anytime soon- God knew the human base had hundreds of the concussive grenades they had 'Liberated' from various police stations and Special Response Unit stations that had been abandoned with their load of weapons, ammunition, and even more ordinance.

At the same time it was also an almost show of power to Isabella- This guaranteed to her the humans were well armed, especially the group she was with- Shown as he began to talk "You know we may just win in the end with tanks. NO way for a demon to disable a tank with claws and tooth- Metal monsters carry a 120mm cannon that fires explosive shells and armor piercing shells that can punch straight through buildings and thousands of rounds of ammunition for their machine guns"
