The Carnelian twins of the Scorpio sign,
Number Eight is digesto, her stone is Jade fine.
E major's the key of Black Tourmaline,
Sapphire sings in F major, and bright is her sheen.
Then almost at once comes Diamond alone, whose sign of the lion as Leo is known.
Projectio! Time flows on, both present and past, Ruby red is the first and is also the last.

Loosely based off the Precious Gem saga by Kierstyn Gier (you don't need to know the plot, though, to write here).

12 different people, with twelve different lives. The only thing in common is their age (just over seventeen), and the fact that they have a very, very distant common ancestor.

And of course, on a dreary Monday morning in London, each of them were shot back in time with a dose of vertigo; each to a different year.

But of course, each equally confused.

Each of these twelve share one great-great-great-etc. grandparent with some trip in the DNA that doctors have been searching for for years.

The ability to travel through time.

This genetic trait was carried through generations and generations, finally becoming active as the family is scarcely related anymore, and active inside 12 clueless teens.

Well, they're the only clueless ones.

Turns out, their families were in on it too, and after finding out, one way or another, sends them to a stone academy in the center of London, to control their abilities, and of course, take them on missions to carry out the mysterious Headmaster's wishes...

Though reluctant, the teens move into this building, wondering who these people, distantly related, are.

And there's no leaving this either- you need to have a controlled time travel mission (elapse) at least once a day, or else your genes will do it for you, sporadically tossing you through time.

Short bio:
The great, great, great grandchild of the founders of the Stone Academy, he grew up knowing precisely what was going to happen to him, and just happens to be the most knowledgeable about this whole time-travel debacle out of this whole group. Hopefully it won't get to his head.
Brief description of their first travel in time (where, when, what happened):
He was taking a nap, actually, on the couch of his apartment- he travelled to sometime late at night during what he guesses is the early 1920's and falls right back asleep. Hey, he had a test the next morning, sue him.
How they feel about going to the Stone Academy:

Lives with her mother, grandmother, aunt, two siblings, and cousins after her father passed away- she doesn't care though, she loves a big happy family, though it does get a bit irksome when she needs her privacy. What she does care about is the fact that they didn't tell her about the whole time-travel debacle- what the hell?
Brief description of their first travel in time (where, when, what happened):
She disappeared in the middle of an attempt to cram for an exam the next day, and almost got attacked by a servant from 1863. She's been shaken up ever since.
How they feel about going to the Stone Academy:

Short bio:
Divorced parents- Mother travels constantly on business. Lives with her Father, step-mom, step-brother (older), and half-sister (younger). At home she takes care of her half-sister. Completely confused and out of the security of being needed by her family, she's scared of being all on her own. But there is a part of her that finds this predicament an adventure and the two feelings are conflicting inside her. Related to this event on her mother's side.

Brief description of their first travel in time (where, when, what happened):
She was walking on her way from school to pick up her sister when a poster of Marilyn Monroe in a tight sparkly dress caught her eye. Suddenly she found herself walking at the third Madison Square Garden on May 19, 1962 where Marilyn Monroe sang "Happy Birthday, Mr. President" to John F. Kennedy. Upon returning to her own time she found that she had been gone for some time and came home to her family eating dinner and her mother on the phone.
