- I like most. It's the plot that decides.
Ever since the White Witch and her army was defeated, Narnia was at peace. The Great King, his brother and two sisters brought the land into an age of prosperity, fellowship and greatness. However, as unexpected as they first arrived, the four disappeared, and without neither them nor Aslan’s direct presence, the country faced hardships.
Generations ago, trouble was brewing in the Narnian forests. Humans, calling themselves Telmarines, invaded the once peaceful land, and chased the survivors into the dark woods. There they've stayed since, the human settlements wary of their presence.
Still, the Telmarines' kings weren't bad kings. They were just, fair, and kind to their people. In an effort to keep their population away from the old Narnians, they started rumors of the forests and rivers being haunted, and so people stayed away from them.
One king, however, could think higher of those before him. King Miraz, who had his brother killed in order to get the throne, was far stricter and malevolent than his predecessors. Especially when it came to Narnian past; under his rule the entire subject became a taboo, and no more than the humans’ history in Narnia was taught in schools.
So when a select few of his personal guards are found way more familiar with subject than he is comfortable with, he has no other choice than to banish them. Out of the castle, of the entire city even. Because just executing them would have been too easy.
Now the former guards must traverse these unknown and universally feared woods, in a fight for survival. But who knows if the shadow behind that tree is a friend, foe, or perhaps something entirely else...
~*~
Trouble is brewing in Narnian forests. All the way from the Lantern Waste, to the ruins of Cair Paravel, to the cavern containing the Stone Table, rumors are going around of people disappearing. A dwarf just getting that last buck not returning the next day here, a talking squirrel heading home to prepare the tea but never arriving there.
Obviously this has worried the already oppressed remains of Narnia’s previous population, but searching parties all end up missing like the ones they are looking for.
Things are getting dire as people struggle explaining to their children and themselves why Kipling or Erihurn or Juniperis or anyone else they know one day vanish.
Not wanting to just sit around and wait for whatever’s out there, three old Narnians venture out in a last-ditch effort to get to the bottom of the disappearances. But none of them would expect what was to be found in the deepest, murkiest corners of the forest...
