Deacon was relieved when the man appeared; he could stop making a fool of himself now. But the Butler's manner of greeting felt off to Deacon. It was a rather mean way to speak of someone, but perhaps the two were just close. He almost felt like he was interrupting a private moment now.
"Deacon Greer, and I assure you that I'm the only one being bothersome," he replied as Arthur handed Elysia her drink. Again, he felt out of place; the Butler's actions spoke of an intimacy with his charge that pushed Deacon away. But at the same time, he couldn't tell if the girl liked or disliked the teasing. "Miss Storm was kind enough to keep me company despite my foul mood. You have my thanks, but perhaps it is time I was moving on." Deacon pushed himself to his feet so he could meet Arthur eye-to-eye, though only because Deacon had a little help from being higher up the hill.

Grace followed Sephira to the entrance to see who was outside--and to make sure Sephira wasn't going to collapse from her recent injuries. Even with the magical help, the healer had said she should rest. "I think the guy with the scythe is a Brigadier. You know the other one?" she whispered across the opening. She'd seen the scythe boy yesterday in camp, but he was stand-offish. Like right now: the person who introduced himself as Kyy offered to help, but Sebastian was standing defensive and wary. He was suspicious of Kyy. Maybe paranoid would be a better word. But a brief glance back at Sephira made her wonder if it was really wrong to distrust someone she'd never met.
