The Cascading Home for Special Children

Brock watched Kai leave, then directed his attention back to Izoi. "Those wings symbolize something so much more" he said to her quietly. He reached his hand to her face and brushed hair out of the way of her beautiful eyes, then kept his arm out, his hand resting on her chin. "It symbolizes that you're an angel." He sent a sweet smile her way.

Izoi blushed a bit when he brushed her hair out of her face. She looked at him shyly, her cheeks a bright red as he smiled sweetly. She softly smiled, her wings shifting a bit in the metal bindings. "Th-thank you, though I don't deserve such compliments..." She took his hand into hers gently, taking it from her chin and holding it between both of hers.

When Kai walked back into the room full of cages her skin glowed more. She almost seemed radiant as she seemed to glide towards her new room. "Hey...hey..you with the wings!" She didn't even wait for the guard to leave before calling out to the girl interrupting her and Brock's moment. "I haven't met you yet. I'm Kai!" The guard struck her hard across the cheek. Slumping to the floor, she pretended to pout until he left. As soon as she was gone she rose again smiling.
The glow around her came from when they tested to see how long she could stay underwater. She ended up drinking the pool dry within thirty minutes. Kai's skin was taut on her face and seemed younger. Her hair floated at the ends as if she was just dipping it in water. Oblivious to the terror around her, Kai continued to smile.

Brock had an idea, but he didn't know if it would work. He looked at Izoi and held her hands tightly. "I have to try something." he said to her. He let go of her hands and focused his energy on Kai. "Kai stand still for a second." He lifted his hands toward her, and water started to drip off her. The water stopped in mid-air, and Brock brought his hands in telling it to come closer. He froze it into a lock picking device and tried to open his cage. But the lock canceled his doing. "Why must they rig these cages so....strictly...it's like they knew this would happen." He got mad again as another guard came in with a bunch of element restricting bindings. "Damn that's me." Brock put down his aggressive rebelliousness and let the guard put the magic chains on him, as well as the mask. He looked back to Izoi, but the minute he did the guard pushed his Brock's head forward, what made brock snicker was the fact he was wearing armor, with a fire proof suit under it. He walked out willingly, ready to be tested.

Izoi looked to the glowing girl as she was called to. She flinched a bit when the guard hit the girl, shivering lightly. "I-I'm Izoi..." She then blinked in surprise, watching as Brock tried to pick the lock of his cage. She brushed some hair behind her ear once it saw shown not the work, looking down in disappointment. She looked to the guard with the restraints, gasping quietly at how many there were. She looked to Brock as he was chained up, softly sighing since she knew she couldn't do a thing about it. She watched him be escorted out of the room and then looked to the water-haired girl. "What number did they give you? I'm apparently subject 609... scary to think that they've tested on so many people..."

Talia took careful steps into the lobby, trying to keep her small black hooves from clacking on the floor. Having made her way to the home alone in hopes of some respite from constant teasing and abuse because of her looks.
Talia shivered slightly as she worked up the nerve to walk over to the desk. Taking the forms and filling them out quietly she could feel the man at the desk looking at her and it felt the same as when she was young. As she brushed her hair over one of her short pointy horns she sat down sighing again.
"Well... I guess it's not different for someone like me..." she whispered to herself finishing the forms.
Handing them in Talia noticed the man smiling, but not like the children from home. Rather than being flat out cruel, something about the smile un-eased her but she shook it off and made her way down the hall, her small hooves clacking all the way.

Felicia's eyes followed Brock as he left the room. She was the last one in that group, the only one who hadn't been taken. Fear began building up inside of her. The thick mask she had built up the second she walked into the building was being to crumble. She turned away from the others, covering herself with her tail again. Her eyes beginning to water and she sniffed quietly, hoping no one would hear her. They had all come out so strong, even though what ever happened in there had to be horrible.
I've never been strong like that... how am I going to handle this? Her body shook silently as her weeping continued.

Brock came back in with even more restraints than usual. The only thing normal on him was a blind fold covered in his own blood. Some of it looked burnt. His bindings were colossal. Must have weighed tons. His stomach was rapped with a metal chain, his mouth still covered, but the mask had no air holes. What ever was left of his body, was bloody, and was giving off steam. Every now and then you would see some of his hair ignite on fire, but the guard would immediately put it out with a high pressure fire hose connected to a tank another guard was wearing. There were about five guards escorting him back. He was capable of too much, they had to make sure he would NEVER escape. They needed him. After everything that happened he let out no whimper or sign of weakness. He was able to sense Izoi. The beautiful angel. He was knelt down right in front of her cage. He could tell it was hers. Then they bashed him up against it, and electrocuted him with a tazor. Instead of Brock being able to absorb the shock, was canceled by the bindings. He felt the pain instead. Then he was viciously thrown into the cage. He lay on the floor, motionless. If you didn't watch him breathe you wouldn't have thought he was alive.

Izoi went wide eyed and looked to the door as the five guards brought him in. She gasped when she saw all the bindings and the state he was in. She backed up against the cage as he was bashed against her cage, tears forming at the corners of her eyes. She covered her mouth as he was tazed, shaking her head. She closed her eyes, keeping backed into the corner and covered her face. She slowly uncovered her face, looking to him with teary eyes and hoping that he was alive. She was shivering uncontrollably, taking it shaky breaths. "Wh-what did they do to you?!"

"A lot of things....I'll never forget," he said to her in a whimper forcing sound out of his mask. "They gave me this....syringe thing....allows me to turn any of my powers into raw strength....that's why these bindings are so big...." He got up weakly and swung the bindings against his cage. He groaned. "Let me out of this hellhole!!!" he sat down again and tried to take the blind fold off, then noticed there was no way it could slip off. He sighed, then layed down again. That was the only way he could relieve the weight of his bindings. He was able to chip the mask off. He breathed air again, and eventually fell asleep. He would mumble in his sleep, and every now and then you would hear Izoi's name being repeated.

She reached towards him with a sad smile as he fell asleep, glad to hear her name. She touched his bindings, softly sighing. She then gently pulled at the blindfold, looking at Brock with gentle and worried eyes. "W-we have to get out of here..."

Felicia listened to the things that happened below her, still sobbing quietly. She heard the guards mummer, the crash of someone being thrown against or into a cage (she couldn't tell), the sound of jolting electricity, and then after a few minutes, the quiet voices of a female and male underneath her. The last thing she heard was '...out of here,' then the door swung open.
Her eyes widened, as her cage was opened and two large hands reached in for her. She yelped and clung onto the inside bars of her cage in order not to get pulled out.
"Please... No, no, no, no Please!" she gasped, breaking all of her previous composure. They finally dragged her out by her tail. It only took one person to restrain her, even though she struggled.
"Let me go! Please!" she cried as she was half carried, half dragged into the testing rooms, trying to grab onto anything that she could hang onto.

Kai had fallen silent through the whole ordeal. She was thinking of what Izoi had said about the number situation. She had been number 613. She traced a finger on the floor of her cell, lazily scrawling, 613, over and over again. The pool of water had gathered in the corner of the cell again. This time she felt no need to rush to it. In fact Kai seemed to be calmer now that she had found water.
Snapping up at the sound of Felicia's voice, Kai jumped to the bars of her cage. She watched as the girl was dragged away by her tail. Falling to her knees, she chanted a prayer of peace on her and the others. Her brother had taught it to her; the prayer had gotten her through the ordeal and she was sure it would do the same for the others. The chant was joined by another voice deep in the depths of the halls. A voice that sounded..familiar.

Talia found herself being pushed into a small cell yelping as the door was slammed on her tail. Panicing she gripped her tail in one had and pounding on the door pleading to be let out.
" Wait! Come back!! Why are you doing this!? I came here for help!!! I came....here"
She began sobbing as she slide down the door too her knees backing herself into a corner and burying her face into her arms.

After an hour Talia looked up, tears still flowing from her eyes and noticed all the other children and a small part of her smiled. There were other children like her, but then the reality of the situation hit her like a tonne of bricks that they were throwing them all in this cruel place, like a dog pound, and she knew what happened in pounds... Her sobbing started again and turned into the corner.

Brock woke up. He seemed completely regenerated now. He immediately broke into tears, for he was hoping that this whole thing was a dream, but it wasn't. He looked down both sides of the hall. "What'd I miss? Who's being tested now?" he asked.

She smiled slightly as he woke up, slowly pulling off the blindfold. "The cat was just taken." She pet his head, tearing up. "Please don't cry. I'm supposed to be the scared one here..." She rubbed tears from one of her eyes. "W-we have to escape somehow..."

Brock nodded. "But how....we have no...." he was interrupted by what sounded like an alarm. Then after the alarm, he heard the word, "You will be taken to lunch momentarily." Brock looked at Izoi. "Lunch? I didn't think they would even serve us lunch after knowing what they do to us in tests." he said.

Felicia was carried back out. Her eyes were wide open, her pupils constricted, giving her a dead appearance. The man tossed her into her cage, locked it, and went back into the testing room. Felicia didn't look wounded, the only thing she had to show from the experience was a the triangular cut on the edge of her right ear where they had taken a DNA sample. Yet, it was obvious she had gone through something. She didn't get up, she didn't blink and her eyes maintained their shocked-look, but occasionally her gaze would flicker to another part of her cage and she would focus on that - letting anyone who saw her know that she was still alive.

Izoi jumped in surprise as the alarm went off, looking up towards the ceiling as she heard the words. "Yeah... I guess the only point of lunch is to keep us alive..." She jumped again as a few guards came into the room, one walking over to her cage and opening the door. She squeaked as the guard grabbed her arm and dragged her out of the cage, pulling her up to her feet. "Walk." The guard shoved her and she quickly began walking, being led out of the room and down the hall. She was guided to a pair of door, shoved in quickly. It was a large cafeteria-like room with several guards posted all around. She hugged herself as she walked towards the food line, shivering from fear.

About four more guards came to Brock's cage. They lifted him out, while one had a tazing stick. They pushed him down the hall, then pushed him in to the Cafeteria room. Right before leaving the guards decided to hit Brock upside the head with the stick, but instead Brock lifted his huge cuffs and blocked it then punched one of them. Before he got a chance to hit the other one, he was tazed right away. He fell to the floor. He shortly got up after seeing Izoi. He could actually stand next to her. The joy he got from it. He wished he could touch her and hug her, but doing that would hurt her, due to the bindings. He was very upset he couldn't.
