There was a filtered beam of light that flitted across the darkened earthen hallways of The Burrow. It was a peaceful existence, free passage allowing it's citizens to visit the surface whenever they pleased, to visit the human world above ground, and stretch their legs in the human world.

However, today was not a day for pleasantries, although it started like any other day. Mira paced her way quickly to the town center, wishing to grab some supplies for her own home, such as fruit and vegetables to eat and light furnishings for her home.

As she made her way to the town center, she had no idea that her life would be changed forever by the heavens above.

That something magnificent would come from that place above the burrows.

That someone would fall.

Dog's nose twitched, and he stared at the hole that led to dark, gloomy forest outside. It was hard to listen for sounds, with his heart trying to beat it's way out of his chest, but his lage ears flicked at any tiny noise. Crouched low in the tiny space between roots, he was covered in dirt, grass stains, dead leaves...and blood. Most of it his own. The usually golden hair on his head, and the fur on his tail were muddy from falling into a stream. He was alone, and being hunted by the foul monster that had already tried to eat him once.

He was trying to calm himself, pushing back the terror that would cause him to transform into a smaller, weaker form. He was still very young even for a fully grown male, but the fox man had never seen a beast like this one. It was a bright, sunny day out, except where the beast stood and radiated darkness. He could feel it's malice, as it waited for him to make a mistake.

His leg shifted as he tried to work out a cramp in his thigh. He flinched as he heard grass rustling nearby. Instinctively, he pushed himself as far back as he could get in the hollow. Suddenly, the dry earth cracked beneath him, swallowing him whole. Roots tore at him, rocks scraped his tan, smooth skin, and he gave a ragged scream as he dropped into the darkness.

Once he landed with a painful sudden stop, the fox tried painfully to open his eyes. He could hear shrill screams, but suddenly he found his consciousness fading away. He couldn't hold his shape. Suddenly a tiny red fox lay there, still except for the rise and fall of his side.

Mira could feel the air, a disturbed breeze that caused her suddenly to cease her movemement, as a shiver wracked her spine. Her ears perked up quickly, as they detected a high, cracking noise. She looked around, as clods and fragments of rocky dirt cascaded from above.

Sunlight spilled in through the hole left by whatever had fallen down, and Mira looked down to see what it was, amidst the gasps of others. A...fox? She was confused. For such a large hole, a small fox could not have caused it. Unless....

As others gazed at the hole in shock, Mira scooped up the small fox and sprinted as fast as her legs could carry her back to her home. This was not good, she thought. Not at all, no-sir-ee. If this small fox had crashed through the barrier to The Burrows, what was to say something else wouldn't?

Soon, she reached her abode, her small, modest stone house, and placed the fox on her table inside, before locking the door and closing the blinds.

"Please don't be too badly hurt. Pleeeeeeeease." She begged, before looking for medical supplies.

Dog woke slowly, finding it hard to think. He hurt everywhere, but nothing was broken. Just battered. He whined softly, and put his paw over his tiny face. Although he was colored like a red fox, he was nearly as small as a fennec. It was embarrassing, knowing someone was seeing him like this. He was too tired to change back yet, though.

He finally looked up, and was surprised to see a bunny girl rushing around. Dog was more unnerved to realize she was going to use medical supplies on him. He was already healing, albeit slowly. The injuries he might have gotten from the fall were gone, but he couldn't rid himself of the cuts and gashes left on him by the corrupted forest spirit.

They burned, and it scared him amost as much as waking up to find himself in the hands of a creature who traditionally hated his kind. For good reason, generally, although he wasn't much of a hunter himself. He preferred cheeseburgers in their natural habitat. A bar. Honestly, this was his first time seeing a bunny in person. Unfortunately, his head ached too much to get a good look, and he felt himself fading out again.
